Read the system specifications on the MTP's box, it says:
System Requirements
Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer
Two AA batteries (included)
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.4 or later
Here are the System Requirements for Snow Leopard, if your system meets or exceeds them then yes you can update your computer. Snow Leopard is still available from Apple's online store for $29.

No, you cannot seperate the audio and video stream.
You can use optical audio to a sound system (I use sony sound bar) and play the audio via that.

Apple TV only supports HDMI. It doesn't sound like it is an HDTV, even if you use an adapter there is no guarantee it would work and even then you would not be able to watch HDCP content (i.e. iTunes, Netflix etc).
If the TV is not widescreen and/or doesn't support at least 720P you will also have issues around that. -
I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
I have just brought a new ipod and it won't work with my old imac as it is running pre 10.5 software. I can't upgrade the software, so what should I do?
There is nothing to do, unless you buy a new computer.

If the device is jail broken - and the message is that the iPad is not eligible for the requested build - there are tons of articles on the internet that discuss how to fix the iPad. Use Google.

Some apps do indeed come off the market. The vendor stops selling or supporting them for whatever reason.
That is likely what happened.
See if the app is still in the App Store. If so, you can download it. If not, it is gone. -

I have to ask. Why?
The reason is I have a dual 2.66 and have never maxed the CPUs. Ever. And I run data crunching software, iTunes, Parallels, and a zillion other apps that are either working on processing real-time data or being driven by the user (me).
So, is upgrading the CPU going to really give you what you are looking for? In almost all use-cases with these new machines more memory (4GB), faster disks (raptor) and possibly a gfx update will give you much more performance for the task.
Going from 2x4=8GHz to 12GHz would only make sense if you are really doing something that is CPU bound and limited. Even the 2GHz processors absolutely smoke! -

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't keep swapping iTunes accounts to use other people's apps or you will locked out of changing back to your own account. I'm not sure how you can help her with her apps from another device. -

Try going through the troubleshooting steps listed under "Troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)" in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999. In particular, make sure the iCloud Outlook add-in is active within Outlook.
