I can record my guitar fine and all the other effects work but the tuner doesn't. I know its not a big deal but it would be convenient for it to work. O ya the tuner does work on instrument tracks though! Can someone please help me!

  • Tuner Not Working

Actually, I can make it "function" .... but I can't find a way to incorporate it into my performances so it behaves properly. I just want to map a footswitch so I can tune my guitars, and want tuning available in each patch. Nothing unreasonable.
If I map the tuner action at the Concert or Set level, it will work but ONLY in Edit mode; not Perform mode. Worse, it won't work at the Patch level, where its really needed. And, if I try mapping the tuner action at the Patch level, it does not work at all, in any mode.
I have read older posts mentioning copy and alias work arounds, but these are not practical in my case, and my channel strips are already completed and logical.
Has anyone discovered a usable workaround, or am I doing something wrong?

Good point, bemuzed. Yes, that was definitely a part of the puzzle, and when I did my aliases, had to make sure I had the tuner badge showing (1st channel strip). I personally think Apple needs to do a little work on the tuner function, for sure, but it can pushed around to do what you want (especially for guitarists needing tuning on each patch). The good thing is that the tuner is very accurate and easy to read!
I also wish there was a simple setting for the tuner so that it doesn't mute the output when you tune. I like the old school singer/songwriter style of talking to the audience while you hear the guitar being tuned. Nostalgia, I guess.

  • Garageband tuner stops working

On Mac, the Garageband tuner works only once: open it, tune your guitar, close it, re-open it, it's dead. It doesn't react at all.
    Anybody experiencing the same problem?
Garageband 10.0.1, OS X Mavericks, Apogee Jam
    Thanks

  • About turning Acoustic Guitar sound into a Electric Guitar Sound...

I  have an Acoustic Guitar & a pick up its like a clamp which we can attach at the place where we tune the guitar. Actually i want a distorted sound using my new acoustic guitar on Garageband.  So i connected the guitar to my macbook through pick up (guitar amp). It sounds nice not that bad. but even if i'm not playing it is giving loud disturbance like kkkkkhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! And also it records that disturbance.... Like distorted but in very bad way...It doesnt give bass also...
Even if i remove the guitar amp it is same... It is not like if i pluck a string and it is giving me a perfect clear distorted electric sound... Is it a problem of my Macbook Hardware or Audio driver...????
Pls help Should i continue with Garageband or shall i use Logic Pro ??? Is it good with Audio Output??? Pls help

Sounds like the problem is happening before the mac. Who makes the acoustic pickup and what model is it. Also how are you connect to the mac adapter or interface?

  • Iad Camera Connection Kit (USB) + USB Electric guitar + GarageBand for iPad

    Hi,
I wonder if the USB Camera Connection will work with an USB Mic or Electric Guitar and if I'll be able to use this with GarageBand for iPad.
    Thanks,
    M

Hi I have one that looks exactly like the Behringer but in black and made in china. No trademark. It must be the pirated version which I got for $30-$35 USD in Mexico. I connected it through the CCK to the ipad (1) using the newest OS 4.2 or 4.3 and I was able to tune the guitar. I couldn't hear a thing but the notes appeared. Then I was able to record a track but still no sound. I played it back and it came low. I'm still figuring it out, but it seems that it might work.

  • Garageband electric guitar chord display

so i plug my guitar into the the computer and i open up garageband and i can play straight through the computer no problems, i go to the how to play and the tuner and i tune my guitar. then i go to a new electric guitar project, i turn it on with clean combo and i practice my chords (im only a beginner)
and i practice chords like f which i find to be one of the most difficult chords to play due to the positiong of your fingers, but when i play i can never get the chord display thing at the bottom to come yup with an f chord, it comes up with e, b major, a. this is the same with c minor and some of the major and minor and seventh chords. also sometimes when i play a basic b major chord it says im playing an e chord when i have my finger position perfect. is the note display accurate ornot, cause it could be really messing up my learning if it isnt.
also ive had some problems sometimes when i've had garageband open for a while, i dont know if i tripped something by pressing a hot key, but every guitar gets massive delay on it (even when i havent got any delay pedal or effect on the guitar), i close it down and its normal again, has this happened to anybody

Chords work only with software instruments - GB isn't able to single out the notes in a real guitar chord. So what you're getting is just the reading of the tuner that tries to identify a single clean tone and is confused if you play several at a time.

  • 1142 errors out while downloading image

I have a 4402 controller just recently upgraded to code 5.2.178. I have a new 1142 out of the box and I am trying to get it up and running. It finds the controller and starts the image download but then stops with the following error:
    capwap_image_proc: problem extracting tar file
It then tries to reconnect to the controller, it finds it and errors out again.
Figured I'd ask for some ideas here before I went to TAC.
    Thanks

Hmm not much to go on here... You know I collect Martin Guitars (to digress here a bit) and at these Bluegrass festivals I like to attend once in a great while they have a bumper sticker that's pretty popular.. it says... "It takes a village to tune a banjo"... at risk of sounding like the village idiot when you have a problem like that... you simply got to take it apart... meaning you can't tune a guitar or banjo without another one (or tuner etc) so you threw an 1142 out there and it's whining.. ok.. I'm thinking this...
    1. Does another 1140 do the same thing (where's the other banjo)
If no, you have a bad AP. If YES then..
    2. Have you tried to download a new version of controller code and flash the controller again? Maybe during the process the code it pushes to the AP got corrupt? If so that's why the AP rejects it remember the controller holds that image for the AP.
If you flash it and it still won't talk to the AP.. then what's your network look like.. maybe the image is getting hosed across the network or through something in the network.. break the network down into something easy see if it still fails.. (if it works that's the answer) if it doesn't... time to find another controller.. From the problem description there just isn't enough stuff here to rule out what is broke...
TAC is a good village to help you tune that Banjo but I don't think you need them for this... ..

  • No sound from Apogee Jam with iPad mini and Lightning-30 pin adapter

    Hello everybody.
I'm trying to use my Apogee Jam with iPad mini but I am unable to hear any sound from it. Jam seems to work, since the led become green and react to the guitar signal. I tried two different guitars and different cables but nothing changes. Jam also works perfectly on MacBook Pro and garage Band, so I first assumed the issue was in the iPad or in the Lightning-30 pin adapter (genuine).
Oddly on AmpliTube I can tune the guitar, so some signal arrives to the iPad, but I can't do the same on JamUp, where the tuner seems not to reiceve any signal. Are there some settings I should check on the apps?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Make sure you have the monitor input turned on in GarageBand. http://youtu.be/Eb8bN3tExio

  • Here's A Weird One For Y'all

So, because I'm using Apple TV at home with an old Sony TV, I had to buy an HDMi to DVI-D cable then realized that the TV didn't have a digital audio input. I then purchased an Optical audio in to RCA out converter and installed it. (Haven't got it to work yet. When I click the buttons on the remote control, I hear that through the TV but when I play a movie or iTunes, I hear nothing). Anyway . . .
Later that day, I'm recording a session in my studio on my iMac using ProTools 9 and I'm laying down a guitar part to a song that's been recorded for almost a month. I'm scratching my head because after tuning the guitar at concert pitch, it's totally out of tune with the track. Not knowing what to do, I tune the guitar to the track, play my part and I'm done with it. Afterwards, I use X-Form to tune an 808 kick drum (not bcz it was out of tune, I just did it for another reason).
I turn on the vocal tracks and realize that they sound awful. The pitch is lower and they sounbd as if they'd been heavily processed with a bad version of Auto Tune. I start checking my system to figure out what the hecks gone a miss. I look at Elastic Audio, X-Form etc. I check the Preferences, restart my computer and even open up previous auto saved versions of the song. Nothing's wrong. For the life of me I'm stumped so I go the Avid website and try describe my situation and nothing really comes up but out of the corner of my eye I see someone has written about clocking issues and sample rates. Bingo! I'm reminded how changing the sample rate of a sesion (say from 48 kHz to 44.1 kHz) will drastically affect the pitch and tempo of an audio file if it's not first converted to whatever format you wish to change it to.
Then I remember (but am very doubtful this has anything to do with my problem) I had switched the audio selection in my Apple TV Menu to 16 bit (instead of auto) in order to see if it helped my Apple TV audio problem). All along I'm thinking well, this is stupid. How would switching my Apple TV audio affect ProTools on my iMac? They're not connected!  I still don't know the answer, however when I switched the audio menu back to "Auto" from 16bit, Protools played back my track perfectly in tune. Somehow, switching the Apple TV audio to 16 bit also converted my ProTools session from 48 kHz to 44.1kHz!!! I have no clue how that happened.
Anyone else ever come across this weird phenomenon?

    Hi Willi,
Thankyou so much for pointing out the error of my ways....
You are obviously an expert, but one does have to ask are you the expert in: what is appropriate / required for my business, for this particular job, with this particular client or this particular printer (as specified by the client)? Are you the expert in the options available to me in regional Australia?
Yet you can decide that my workflow is wrong when you have no idea of all this; or the final output for the file. I also publish eBooks and interactive workbooks for students and guess what, for those I don't use PS. For some jobs one has no choice but to go with the clients choices, they are the ones paying the money after all. I know that this workflow is not the most efficient, however it was the choice available to me.
I posted the original question as I had never seen the problem of a single page disappearing, thought it was interesting and that others may have had the same / similar problems and would therefore find constructive answers interesting.

  • Is there a command for opening next plug window?

I'm looking for a way to change the open plug in window without using the mouse. For example, so that I can switch between tuner and Guitar Amp Pro in a channel strip.

You could use screensets for that. To my knowledge there's no KC for what you want to do...

  • Need help recording with microphone!

Ok, I laid down all my electric guitar tracks for my song, everything went great, and the M Audio Fast Track USB box worked great. The trouble started when I tried to mic an acoustic guitar. I have a Shure SM58 that has a 1/4 inch plug, which I plugged into the guitar input of the box (I don't have an xlr cable to plug it into the mic plug). Even when I turned the ouptut and the gain switches on the top all the way up I barely got a signal for the track. I got enough to tune the guitar but it would'nt make much of a waveform when I recorded. In the info panel I chose Acoustic Guitars, then Bright, and set the Input Source to Mono 2 (Fast Track) and the Monitor to On. The recording level meter is grayed out and inactive so I can't move that up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Do I have to get an xlr for the mic to work with the Fast Track box?
I also tried laying down some vocals and got the same problem. Ugh. Any ideas?

  • I need to disable my iMac's internal mic

Does anyone know how to disable the internal microphone. I went to preferences, sound, input... and lowered the mic but it still picks up sound.
    Thanks.

I have a similar issue (well exact same issue) however I will provide some background:
I lost my guitar tuner so I downloaded a rather neat program (Guitar Tuner 5.1) to tune my guitar on my iMac. I have my guitar plugged directly into the line-in jack on the back, however I cant be sure if the program is picking up the guituar off the line-in or the built-in mic since there is no way to disable one or the other. Any suggestions or anyone familiar enough to tell me I am doing a-okay?
    Cheers Everyone!
