Tuning the current Oracle8i

Hi! I'm trying to tune up our current Oracle DB. However, I am stuck because sqlplus is always try to extend the SYSTEM tablespace although I already specify explicitely to use my own tablespace.
Here is an example:
(I want to create a new index)
CREATE INDEX new_my_idx ON mytable (project ASC, flow ASC, tool ASC, name ASC, value ASC) TABLESPACE my_space;
but it keeps on returning the following message:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 5394 in tablespace SYSTEM
The default table space has been set to "my_space", which ideally it should no longer use the "SYSTEM" tablespace.
So, any suggestion on how to track the problem?

Problem is temporary tablespace.
You should create temporary tablespace big enough, so DB can sort table before writing index. After that assign that tablespace to your user : alter user xxx temporary tablespace ttt;
Right now your temporary tablespace is SYSTEM and that is problem.

DAQmx+6009: Reading the current counter value is too slow

I have a thread that runs a software loop that I need to run as fast as possible. One of the things I need to do is poll the current counter value from my 6009, and branch if it's changed from the last time I read it. Over 90% of the time spent in my 1.2ms loop is doing this read. My goal is to get the loop under 50us.
What I really need here is an accurate timestamp (20us or better) for every time the counter changes (up to 1kHz). When I detect a change, I currently get the timestamp by calling QueryPerformanceCounter().
Here's how I create the task:

I updated a robot control from a Mac Powerbook with a PCI expansion chasis running Mac OS9, Labview 5 and DAQ to a Mac Mini (intell) with 6009 and 6501 USB cards running Mac OSX, Labview 8.5, and DAQmx-base. I have connected wheel encoders (pule train and direction) to a 6009 and a 6501. It all seems to work, except the tuning of velocity control loops is not as good as before, indicating some delays. The loops run every 100msec (10Hz update) so I expected a synchronisation problem rather than latency. I did some measurements today and found that reading the 2 counters and the 2 digital inputs takes over 20msec.
I get better performance from VISA with a serial to USB converter. I have a program reading 25byte packets every 20msec. Although I did run into the USB latency problem with another serial application. I have a serial device that requires a response t changing CTS (clear to send) in less than 1.2msec, and VISA was taking 1.5msec.
On the same machine I am reading 1024 samples from an analog input every 100msec with out any timing issues - (once I got the incredibly slow start and stop vis outside the loop - they take about 200msec each. Taking the start and stop vis outside the loop reduced my loop time from 450msec (approx) to 100msec. The only problem is that to do this I have to run in continuous mode and can't use an external trigger (it has to restart on every trigger, so the start and stop vis have to be in the loop).
So it appears that I have updated my technology by 10 years only to find that USB is incredibly slow - something that is not in any of the NI doccumentation that I can find. Does NI have any documentation on what to expect in terms of performance from these USB devices and any suggestions on how to get better performance, apart from buying more expensive hardware?

How Do I Link To The Current Date/Month In iCal?

I have a link on my website which points to a published iCal calendar. The link remains static, for instance, I created the link in January, and it pointed to the January view of the calendar.
Now that its February, I'd like the link to point to the February month view (and so on throughout the year), but it remains linked to January.
How do I make the link dynamic so that it points to the current month/date? Thanks in advance.

How to load a class dynamically in the current/system class loader

I need to dynamically load a new jdbc driver jar to the current/system class loader... Please note that creating a new classloader will not help since the DriverManager refers to the systemclassloader itself.
Restarting the application by appending the jar to its classpath will solve the problem but I want to avoid doing this.

I unzip the jar dynamically in a previously known location (which I included in my classpath when launching the app). The classLoader finds the class now though it did not exist when the app was launched !
A hack of-course but works eh ..

Running a java program in a directory other than the current directory

How do I run a java program that's located in a directory other than the current directory?
There is a file Test.java in /dir1/subdir1. If my current directory is anywhere other than that directory, say /dir2/subdir2, I can compile Test.java by using:
javac -classpath /dir1/subdir1 /dir1/subdir1/Test.java
But when I try to run it with:
java -classpath /dir1/subdir1 /dir1/subdir1/Test
I get a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: \dir1\subdir1\Test
Any thoughts?

You need to specify just the name of the class you want to run. So java -classpath /dir1/subdir1 Test

I have a recurring problem where all of a sudden I can no longer see the values of my variables when I debug my unit tests. I cannot find a pattern as to when this happens but I experience this across one of every 20 tests that I write. Occasionally this
has also happened during normal debbuging of running code on my machine.
I have included 2 screen shots. The first is when it is working. I have a break point set at the declaration of list of types. At this point all my variables are still reporting their values back to the debugger. Once I step over this to the next line (screen
shot 2) I get the error message 'The name '[variable name]' does not exist in the current context'
This problem is annoying me to no end. If anyone has any insight as to why this might be happening I would be very much appreciative.
My Settings/Configuration
Using Visual Studio 2013 Premium (Version 12.0.31101.00 Update 4)
Projects are all set to Target Framework = .NET 4.5.1
Resharper 9.1 is installed
My active configuration is debug mode, Any CPU
My PC is 64bit and so is the O/S windows 8.1
All of my projects are also compiled and built in debug mode
For all my projects configuration debug has the Optimize Code check box unchecked
I am unit testing code in an outside project referenced by the unit testing project (standard unit test project setup)
I make use of the latest version of NSubstitute in my tests although I do not think that would have any bearing on this issue
I omitted the code following the error because it is not relevant. I had cut it out and replaced it with a Task.Delay(4) which resulted in the same issue.
What I have tried so far
I have tried debugging the unit test from Visual Studio Test Explorer instead of from Resharper with the same result.
If I remove 2 items at the end of the array it starts to work again (so 6 items initialized instead of 8)
I clean solution with rebuild has no effect
Removing properties of the array also seems to work, example remove all initialization of property Value

So you mean that it worked well before, am I right?
If you debug the same app in other VS machine, does it work well? So we could make sure that whether it is related to the VS IDE.
Please disable all add-ins in your VS IDE, and then reset your VS settings, debug it again.

To make sure that it is not the project files' issue, create a new blank solution, copy the project files to the new solution, clean and rebuild the solution, check the result.

How about debugging it with "Step Into" instead of "Step Over"? Or you could add breakpoints between 234 line to 241 line, after the breakpoint is hit, check the watch window again. How about the result?
In addition, do you check other debugger window like local or others?

Win 8.1 2010 Outlook Error message: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill..."

When trying to open Outlook in Win 8.1 I get the error message:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
It eventually opens but none of my Mail accounts load. When I click on one of the accounts I get
"Cannot expand the folder. Internet mail is not registered properly. Re-install and try again."
Outlook is set with all its defaults. I've tried going through the Repair routine for Microsoft Office but it doesn't help.

How to get the current filename and & or path

How can I get the current path or filename?
I didn't really find any answers in the net. this.path or app.path were suggested but I couldn't get it to work.

To maintain the current row position after a refresh I use the following poll method.

I have an association in two VOs.
for example: There are 2 tables called Emp and Dept. Every Department has Employees. so there is an association (both tables have a common column). Master table is the Dept table. when you click on one record of the Dept table Detail table will show the details of the employees belongs to that selected department. That's what I referred as master-detail tables. first one is master table; second one is detail table.
When the web page loads all the table data is not fetched from the db (it will depend on the fetch size). when we scroll down the table data fetch happens again and again.
think my data fetch size is 25 rows per time.
Suppose we use mine poll method and think I have clicked on the 20 ^th^ row of table1(master table). then the table2 will display details belongs to selected department. that is OK even after refresh. that works well.
when I go to 30 ^th^ row data fetch will happen (my fetch size = 25)
when I click on the 30 ^th^ row of the table1(master table), table2 will display details belongs to selected department. but after the poll method is called the selected row at the table1 disappears and is set to another position. now the 30 ^th^ row is not in the 30 ^th^ position. but it is the selected row and table2 displays correct details.

Unable to use Datasource.cfc in Admin API - The current user is not authorized to invoke this method

I am having some issues accessing the methods in the datasource.cfc in the adminAPI.
I can successfully load the administrator CFC and am told that I have successsfuly logged in;
But when I try to subsequently load the datasource.cfc I get an error that the current user is unable to access the method.

I tried creating separate admin users and passwords - yhinking that perhaps a revent hotfix had stopped the "admin" user from being allowed to use the adminAPI - but changing to a new adminuser yielded the same results.
I could login to the admin API with the new username and passsword - but could not access the datasource.cfc after that.

I've found a solution to my plight - I don't know if it'll work for you or help you try something that MAY fix it.
I use a common code set which includes the Application.cfc from a CF Mapping - So, in the application.cfc in the actual website I do this:-

Then, in the /UberDirectory/Application.cfc, I was initialising a CFC which checks if the datasource was created for the website. The datasource checking code attempts to log into the Admin API and check & create if necessary the datasource.
This has previously worked without fail for me - But in this instance it failed!! I was doing two things wrong - Firstly, the CFC should only be called in the Application.cfc in the onRequestStart section as the Application had to be initialised first - This is maybe because I've invoked the application.cfc in a "non-standard" manner.
Secondly, once I'd moved the CFC invocation into oNRequestStart I saw the following error:-
The string COOKIE.CFAUTHORIZATION_uber-directory is not a valid ColdFusion variable name.
I had this as the app name .... <cfset this.name = 'uber-directory'>
Changedthe dash to an underscore and I was away and could once again check the datasources

How can we import Fixed asset of the current year ?

in 1272578 note , SAP Support explain that's it's not possible to create fixed asset of the current year( example = acquisition date = 2009-02-01 ) using import , but they gave no workaround .
does it mean that we have to manually create all assets of the current year ? or there is another way ( using DI-API for example ) ?

The fixed asset master data import functionality in SAP Business One is used to import assets of the previous year. If you are to force the importation of current year assets some of them might load but system will not be able to calculate planned depreciation for that year, which will give u problems when u try to run depreciation forcing u to post manual depreciation.
With manual depreciation will not look good on the Fixed Asset Master since it sort of duplicate depreciation ONLY on the Master your report will be fine.
Capturing Current year assets manually will be the safer road.

Error message "The currently attached accessory is not supported by this iPod" is shown when connected to my Zeppelin Air Dock.

I have 2 iPods, one is a 60GB Classic formatted to Mac the other is a 80GB Classic formatted to Windows. When either is connected to my Zeppelin Air Dock, a message appears on the iPod saying "The currently attached accessory is not supported by this iPod"
I have updated the firmware on the Zeppelin and have the latest updates on each of the iPods.
The Zeppelin works fine and connects to the computer and laptop without issues.

I'm having the same problem, it just started today. I've been running w/ the nike+ sensor and receive w/ my iPod nano for 6 months, logging 75 runs, so don't understand why I'm getting this error now.
Can someone please reply w/ how to resolve this issue? I have Nike+ challenges coming up soon that I can't miss. Thanks!

As a last resort on optimizing my stored procedure ( Below ) i wanted to create a Selective XML index ( Normal XML indexes doesn't seem to be improving performance as needed ) but i keep getting this error within my stored proc . Selective XML
Index feature is not supported for the current database version.. How ever

Error trying to relate tables "...either doesn't exist or doesn't have a relationship to any table available in the current context"

I have two tables;
The first is my Order table which has a single row for each unique order - there are no duplicate order numbers.The order id column here is called
OrderID.
The second is my Submissions table which is similar to a transactions table, there are multiple submissions for every order. This table also contains an
OrderID column that contains the relevant OrderID.
The submission table also contains a calculated field called Date and a calculated field called
MaxDate field which is the date of the most recent submission that relates to any particular order in cases where there are multipple.
My goal is to add a column to the Order table this MaxDate column. The reason for duplicating the information rather than linking the tables is because I need to create more calculated columns in the
Orders table based on this value.
I have created a relationship between the two tables however when I use:
=RELATED(Submissions[MaxDate]
I get this error:
"...either doesn't exist or doesn't have a relationship to any table available in the current context"
I don't really understand why this would be, because MaxDate definitely exists and contains only numerical values. What is more strange is that if I try and combine the data through a pivot table it actually works! I can create a pivot with OrderID in the first
column and then associate it with MaxDate from the Submissions
table as the value.
Can anyone help me understand what is the problem here?
P.S. if it is useful the formula I'm using to calculate the MaxDate is:
=MAXX(FILTER(Submissions,Submissions[OrderID] = EARLIER(Submissions[OrderID])),[Date])
