Tutorial usage - JDeveloper 11g Release 2 on Windows Home Edition

Hi,
I have been running the tutorial - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_51/jdtut_11r2_51_1.html and I have gotten the samples to work but a strange phenomenon has occurred a couple of times. I run the program and all is fine. Then I close everything down and when I restart JDeveloper my CONNECTION code is no longer there. I can fix this by right-clicking Connections and re-adding the DB connection but this struck me as odd behavior.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks Frank!
Since I was able to recreate the connection without affecting the program, its a good work around.
I will be going through all of the tutorials, so, if I find anything else, is this the best place to report them?
Thanks again,
Bob

    Hi Friends,
Please let us know wheteher Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.1.0) is certified / supported on HP UNIX (Itanium server) Release B.11.23
(i could only see Other operating systems with Sun-certified JDK 1.6 Update 24 or later is supported on certifiction matrix in addition to windows/linux/mac)
I don't find any installaer for thsi ? I could see only for windows/Linux and Generic. Do i ned to download generic one?
I don't find Installation Document for this?
    Please provide me the same.
    Regards,
    DB

    Hi,
don't know there is a certification for this platform. "Generic" however is the installer option for this platform. It requires you to have a certified Java SDK installed. JDeveloper runs on top of a JDK

  • Mobile.css and richmobile.css stylesheets in jDeveloper 11g release 1?

In reference to this blog post: [http://blogs.oracle.com/mobile/entry/new_adf_mobile_features_in]
Currently we're still working with jDeveloper 11g release 1, but I'm interested in taking advantage of the mobile styling. The blog post mentions the stylesheets are available for download from OTN but I was unable to find them.
Could someone provide a link for the stylesheets?
    Thanks!

Thanks so much for the links :)
I should be able to work with those provided, however they're not the mobile and richmobile files that appear in release 2. Are those file available for download from anywhere?
As I said, I know they're not strictly necessary, but we will likely be moving to release 2 at some point during this project, and I'd like our mobile layouts to have their design configured consistently.

It will most likely work, but "Home Edition" is not supported.

  • Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook A Guide to Oracle Fusion Web Dev. (Tutorial)

I am using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2(11.1.2.1.0) with the above mentioned book. In the tutorial on page 639 of chapter 18 the instruction #11 says "... Select the searchEmployees-flow under the Web Content \ Page Flows node in the Application Navigator. Drag it onto the second facet of the af:panelSplitter that you had previously add to that page, and select *Region* from the context menu. ..." When I follow these instructions I get the following error:
Cannot create a region from a task flow containing facelets fragments in a jspx page.
I am quite frankly stuck and cannot proceed with the tutorial unless I can get past this error.
Also, is it just me or is this text woefully out of date with the latest version of JDevelolper?
    Thanks

jsf is the new extension that is using facelets as the underlying engine in JSF 2.0.
That's what we recommend going forward.
jspx is what was used in JSF 1.2 in JDeveloper 11.1.1.*
We don't have a wizard that migrates jspx to jsf - so you can either create the new page from scratch or try and do some playing around with the header of the file to match the new format.

  • Best tutorial using open source technology with jdeveloper 11g for beginner

Best tutorial based on Jdeveloper 11g myfaces, Spring , hibernate and oracle xe or mysql using tomcat server.
Is there any tutorial like followed link. Using jdeveloper 11g.
    http://www.javaguicodexample.com/javawebjpajsfmysqldatabase12.html
also like netbean tutorial in jdeveloper 11g.
    http://netbeans.org/kb/67/web/jastrologer-intro.html
    http://netbeans.org/kb/67/web/jastrologer-validate.html
    http://netbeans.org/kb/67/web/jastrologer-jsfformtags.html
Jdeveloper 11g always go with wizard. I personally like visual jsf desinger of jdeveloper.
But other thing i want to code. To understand properly.
I am following following tutorial in jdeveloper 11g
    http://wowjava.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/jsf-database-application/
Edited by: prafull on May 26, 2010 5:37 PM

There isn't an end to end tutorial with the stack you are looking at, but:L
You can start with this tutorial that uses EclipseLink for JPA to build the model layer:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/ps1/ejb/ejb.html
Here is a little example of how you can use Trinidad components (open source) in JDeveloper 11g for visual JSF development:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2009/02/using_trinidad_in_jdeveloper_1.html
using MySQL would just mean adding the MySQL JDBC driver to JDeveloper, and to the integrated WebLogic - like this:

  • How to set File Encoding to UTF-8 On Save action in JDeveloper 11G R2?

    Hello,
I am facing issue when I am modifying a File using JDeveloper 11G R2. JDeveloper is changing the Encoding of the File to System default Encoding (ANSI) instead of UTF-8. I have updated the Encoding to UTF-8 in "Tools | Preferences | Environment | Encoding" option and restarted the JDeveloper. I have also updated "Project Properties | Compiler | Character Encoding" option to UTF-8. None of them are working.
I am using below version of JDeveloper,
    Oracle JDeveloper 11g Release 2 11.1.2.3.0
    Studio Edition Version 11.1.2.3.0
    Product Version: 11.1.2.3.39.62.76.1
I created a file in UTF-8 Encoding. I opened it, do some changes and Save it.
When I open the "Properties" tab using "Help | About" Menu, I can see that the Properties of JDeveloper are showing encoding as Cp1252. Is it related?
    Properties
    sun.jnu.encoding
    Cp1252
    file.encoding
    Cp1252
Any idea how to make sure JDeveloper saves the File in UTF-8 always?
    - Sujay

I have already done that. That is the first thing I did as mentioned in my Thread. I have also added below 2 options in jdev.conf and restarted JDeveloper, but that also did not work.
    AddVMOption -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8
    AddVMOption -Dsun.jnu.encoding=UTF-8
    - Sujay

  • How to enable ojc compiler in new oracle jdeveloper 11g IDE

    Hi,
we can compile java files using ojc compiler in Jdeveloper 10g IDE.
I need this option in New Jdeveloper 11g IDE.
Can any one tell me how to enable the ojc compiler? ( I need detailed steps to enable ojc compiler)
I got class version error while i compile using javac in new Jdeveloper 11g IDE.
(Class file size also differ from both compiler)
So that, I want ojc compiler in new Jdeveloper 11g IDE.

I guess you can't. The ojc compiler is not part of jdev 11g, javac is the tool of choice.

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

Problem invoking WLST - Traceback (innermost last):
    File "C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\shutdown.py", line 1, in ?

    Done
I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
It fails in a similar way.
What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd

    DefaultServer started.
In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:20:49 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
[7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
[Application TestAppJsp is bound to Server Instance DefaultServer]
    [Starting Server Instance DefaultServer]
    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
[Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)

First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation  worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
(Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w,  deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
    and
    then
I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)"  from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
    The values I filled for
    1) Global Database Name :  orcl
    2) System Identifier : orcl
    3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
    4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
    5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
    6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
    Username : sys/ as sysdba
Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
After this you are ready to write your first SQL command.

Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.

  • JDeveloper 11g : pbs display projects under applications window

    Hi,
I don't understand because the applications window doesn't diplay anything. I haven't the structure of the projects nor the others elements :-(
I use the 11g version under Windows XP. The first time i used Jdeveloper it works well but now, it wrong :-(
I tried to install a new version but it doesn't work better.
    Is anyone can help me.
    Thank you.
    Bob

    Hi,
I suspect that you may have undocked (floated) the application navigator at some point. There is a known bug in the 11g Preview release where doing this causes the application navigator to become blank.
The workaround is to close JDeveloper and delete the windowinglayout.xml file. You can find this in c:\documents and settings\username\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.x.x.x\o.ide.
The bug has been fixed in our main codeline and the fix will be available in the production release.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Installation of Oracle 11g Release 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi:
    When I tried to install 64-bit Oracle 11g Release 2 on a system running 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2.
One of the system pre-requisites failed with the following error message:
    Checking operating system requirements ...
    Expected result: One of 5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0
    Actual Result: 6.1
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: Oracle Database 11g is not certified on the current operating system.
Recommendation: Make sure you are installing the software on the correct platform.
I presume 6.0 is Windows 2008 Server and 6.1 should be Release 2.
Does this mean that this version is not compatible with Server 2008 Release 2?

Which is why I gave you the link - so you could monitor for yourself.OK, thanks...
I was just hoping there was an official release date and I just couldn't find it.
Is there any information about features in 11gR2 for Windows available yet?
Or can you maybe tell me if it will be possible to mount the new "database filesystem" like we can do on linux?
I remember oracle did something similar with Oracle ifs (Internet File System) back in Oracle 9i. (or was it 8i?)
