TV covered zone option

Hi,
To help move my items in the screen into the visible zone of a TV, I enabled this option in iDVD.
The problem seam like if the zone identified from within iDVD look smaller to what is really displayed on a TV screen.
Is this notmal or I may need to adjust something else?

It's a bit of a catch 22, since the amount of overscan varies from TV to TV. The TV Safe zone that iDVD uses in slideshows (when enabled) will make sure that on about 90% of TVs you will see the whole picture - but on a significant number of these (especially newer flat screen TVs)you will see a black boarder, as these TV have little if any overscan....So you're right it does look a little smaller, but that is needed for some TVs with a lot of overscan.

Our company, EightShapes LLC, has created custom user experience documentation systems for a range of large-scale companies (including Sun, Cisco, Comcast, Marriott, National Geographic, Sprint) that includes templates for creating both design (componentized wireframes based on mature, in-depth design systems) and deliverables like the specification documents you describe. The foundation for our system includes all the features you speak of already, but also a much wider range of assets. For example, our 50+ page patterns address the presentation of wireframes, visual concepts, style guides, user research, strategy, and more.

  • Import: Time Zone Options

I'm not sure I completely understand how to use the Time Zone settings on import.
    The user manual says:
Let's say my camera is set to US East Coast time.
I go to the west coast and take a picture, but I don't change my camera's time or zone.
Now I have a photos with basically the wrong time, east vs. west coast.
So I assume that I would choose Pacific in the Actual Time pop-up menu to correct for this.
    Correct?
If that's correct, then I don't understand is why would I change the time zone in the Camera Time pop-up menu.

I think the part that was confusing me is why you needed to provide Aperture with two time zones. Let's see if I understand things.
Aperture uses both time zones to determine whether or not it needs to add or subtract hours to the time. If the time zone inside your camera is the correct time zone that you took the picture in, then Aperture does not need to add or subtract any hours to the time.
If the time inside your camera was not the correct time zone that you took the picture in, then you need to tell Aperture both the camera's time zone setting and the correct time zone setting. When you give it both, Aperture then knows what to add or subtract hours.
    Examples:
EST     Camera time zone is set to this
EST     Took the photos in this time zone
EST     Camera Time setting in Aperture
EST     Actual Time setting in Aperture
+ 0       Hours Aperture adds to the EXIF time field.
EST    Camera time zone is set tot his
CST    Took the photos in this time zone
EST    Camera Time setting in Aperture
CST    Actual Time setting in Aperture
    - 1       Hours Aperture adds to the EXIF time field.
CST   Camera time zone is set tot his
EST    Took the photos in this time zone
CST   Camera Time setting in Aperture
EST    Actual Time setting in Aperture
+ 1      Hours Aperture adds to the EXIF time field.
You can't just tell Aperture what the correct time zone was, because Aperture doesn't know whether to add or subtract hours to the actual camera time. Aperture needs both.
While I haven't tested it, I assume that if this is how Aperture works, the it probably doesn't matter if you tell Aperture the correct camera and actual time. By that I mean, if the camera time zone was the correct time zone when you took the photo, then it wouldn't matter which time zone you entered for the camera and actual time zones in Aperture, as long as they are the same. If you tell Aperture those two time zones are the same, then it basically adds zero hours to the camera's date field when it imports the file.
CST     Camera time zone is set to this
CST     Took the photos in this time zone
EST     Camera Time setting in Aperture
EST     Actual Time setting in Aperture
+ 0       Hours Aperture adds to the EXIF time field.
If all of this is correct (and that's a big if), then the time zone of the computer you are importing the photos one shouldn't matter. It shouldn't matter what time zone  your computer is set to, or what time zone you are in when you are importing the files. Aperture simply needs to know whether or not to add or subtract hours to the time.
Unless of course I'm wrong. (and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong)

  • Making cd covers- other options ?

i like the choices i tunes suggests but aside from track#, song title, time, i would like to ad liner notes, such as peoples names, contact info, and LYRICS

You can just make up some art work and text in Appleworks and save your file as a jpeg. Than use this as your art work in your playlist. Works like charm.

  • Solaris 10, local zone & vcs

    Hi,
Anybody tried running vcs from within a solaris 10 sparse local zone?
We currently have two T2000' s each running Solaris 10 6/06. I've installed Veritas Foundation Suite 4.1 on each and configured vcs. The cluster is functioning with failover enabled & tested. (I have a test service group running consisting of a 'hello world' program sitting on a VRTS volume/diskgroup on a SAN). This is all running fine in the Global Zone.
As part of our requirement we want to be able to run vcs from within a local zone, hence my creation of a sparse zone. I would like full clustering functionality running from within a zone on one server with failover/switching to an equvialent zone on the the second server.
I have played with the 'zone' option when setting up service groups but not surprisingly this is for switching the whole zone. Not what I want to do.
Am I failing to grasp this whole sparse zone idea? or am I missing something obvious, trying something that cant be done? Any help, particularly from somebody else thats tried this would be appreciated.
    Thansk in advance,
    Mark

    Hello,
I can't help you a lot, but i have found that there is a lot of things that a local zone can't do when it comes to "kernel" things. As of today i found that you do NFS from a zone, for example.
As your problem seems to be related to filesystem it is probable that you can't do it from a zone. Again, i'm not sure.

  • Changing Date/Time(zone) on ACS5.1

Would love to know where I can change the date/time(zone) within ACS v5.1.  Changing it in the BIOS doesn't have a zone option, just date/time.  ACS then displays something completely different upon boot.  Haven't been able to find any settings for this in the GUI, and the one link I did find in a discussion points to a doc that apparently I'd need special access for.
Attempting to join this to AD, so instructions on setting up the NTP server would also be helpful.
None of these options were available during the clean setup of 5.1.
    Thanks much!

    Hi Wayne,
This can be done through the command line over a console/SSH connection.
    1. To manually set the clock:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.1/command/reference/cli_app_a.html#wp1036987
    2. To configure an NTP server:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.1/command/reference/cli_app_a.html#wp1013780
    3. To configure the time zone:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.1/command/reference/cli_app_a.html#wp1013028
    Hope this helps,

  • Indian Time Zone missing from UCM User Time Zone Field

    Hi,
I am using UCM version 11.1.1.3.0.
The Indian time zone option is missing from the User Time Zone Drop down in the weblogic section.
When I set User Time Zone value to (GMT+5:30)Colombo- Sri Lanka Time (LKT) which is same as Indian time zone, the time reflected in UCM is --> System time + 30 minutes
When I set User Time Zone value to (GMT+5:00)Karachi Pakistan Time- (PKT) which lags 30 minutes from the Indian time zone, the time reflected in UCM is --> System time - 30 minutes
How can I get the Indian time in User Time Zone Field (as it is present in other versions of UCM)?

    Hi ,
Download Patch 13503004: UCM 11.1.1.3.0 patch (20120103_1059) from MyOracleSupport portal and upgrade the server .
After that restart it to see if that the IST TZ will be shown .
    Thanks

  • International travel and multiple-day events with time zones

I can't see how I can set an international travel easily as one event, e.g. from 2010-01-11 20:30:00+11:00 to 2010-01-11 07:10-10:00. I can set both as in one Time Zone, but that is not what I want. I want to set as my itinerary from a travel agent says, e.g. the start and end in different Time Zones. Although I can enter the departure and arrival as two events, that is not what I want to do. The air travel is one event, not two.
Also, I often want to set schedules for multiple-day international meetings using the local time of the meetings while my iCal is still in my own Time Zone, but this is not possible. As soon as I select All Day in a new event, the Time Zone option disappears. Of course, I can change my iCal Preferences to use the target Time Zone (instead of my local one) and then set the meeting schedule, but this is not what I want to do. I want to be able to select a different Time Zone for multiple-day events while I am in my own Time Zone.
These are rather common problems in any internatioanl businesses I suspect. It would be really handy to tie iCal with travel itinerary applications. If this is possible, I also would be able to get the information directly from travel agents in iCal format and it is a great potential for developing such applications.
Does anyone know whether these are possible in iCal or whether Apple may be working on it?
I also can't find a Feature Request for Apple, to ask about it. Does anyone know where to find it?
    Thanks.

I just didn't get the context here. Do you want to display multiple rows within one Outlook calendar event? If yes, I think it's impossible.
Please reattach the sample which will be very helpful for others to understand your requirement, then possibly provide a solution.

  • Drop Zone ?

I created a graphic in Photoshop with a photoframe that has a rough edge to it. I then set the file as my menu background and drag a video into the frame selecting the drop zone option. The video does not drop down below the frame. As it does in the Apple templates. How do you configure the file to do this?

In the Apple template, you are not actually placing your video dropzone below the background. It is above it. What you are seeing is a custom shape associated with the button that you drop the video into. The shape sits on top of your asset and has an associated alpha channel giving it a transparent look. Check the chapter in the DVDSP pro manual on creating custom shapes.

  • Automatic time zone stuck with the previous location

    Hi everybody,
I wanted to use automatic time zone option but it doesn't work at all. When I ask to search for my location, it shows my previous location not current. I restart my Wi-Fi modem, restore the default settings, delate "com.apple.timezone.auto.plist" nothing helps.
Thanks in advance for any hints!

The Mac may be trying to find its location by looking in a database of WiFi locations. If you brought your WiFi router from your old location, it may still be located in your original location in the data base. If they are using Skyhook you can update it yourself.
    <http://skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit_ap.php>
Otherwise you will just have to not use the automatic setting until your WiFi router gets detected and its location updated.

  • IP inside zone config Vs IP using ifconfig

    Hi,
I am able to communicate with the outside world from my zone when my IP is part of zone configuration. However, when I remove the IP from the zone config, but bring it up after I boot the zone (using the zone option to ifconfig), I can't communicate with the outside world. Any ping request comes back with "unknown host". There are no changes in any of the /etc files between the time when IP was part of zone config and when it was configured after zone was booted. What may be going wrong?
    Thanks!

All the zones we have configured have thier own IP's since they need to be access as if they were separate computers.
The global has an IP as well and is used to deal with multi-zone backups etc..

  • Why can't I add a secure zone to my web site in the admin panel?

I would like to add a secure zone (or add files to the site) to one of my web sites but I don't have that option in this account. What is the problem here and how to I fix this? In my main account I have the more options under the "Site Manager" tab. However, under this account I only have two options, Web Forms and System emails. Need help ASAP.

    Hi Mr. Baker,
The option of secure zone depends on your site plan. However, I'd suggest you to please login to your site, hover mouse on your name at the top and go to My Details. Scroll down and make sure "Enable online editing" is checked. If its checked already and still not getting the secure zone option, please provide us the site URL and we'll investigate the issue.

  • Secure Zone

Hello, My BC only has 2 options within Site Manger (Web Forms and System Emails). I want to create a Secure Zone on my Muse site (published via BC). I've just watched the BCGurus tutorial videos about how to do this but I don't have the Secure Zone option in my Site Manager - why not? How do I get it?

    Hi Liam
how do I upgrade to a version of BC that lets me put a secure zone on a muse site?
The adobe forums for Muse seem to suggest that a BC secure zone can be inserted into a muse site. What are the limitations of Muse when using BC?
    Thanks

  • Allow transfer zone [DNS Service]

    Hi,
I'd like to know what does "Allow Transfer Zone option" means in the created zone of a DNS service?
    Is it good or bad?
I think that if this options in enabled ... another Administrator can publish your created zone in other DNS Server? so I think that it's bad an little bit insecure no?
    Thanks

I'd like to know what does "Allow Transfer Zone option" means in the created zone of a DNS service?
It allows another DNS server to transfer the zone information that your DNS server is authoritative for. Normally this would be allowed only for master/slave servers within your organization. Usually the 'allow-transfer { addressmatchlist };' option is accompanied by a list of IP numbers of the master/slave servers that you wish to transfer zone information to. The 'addressmatchlist', in the option, is a comma separated list of dotted quad IP numbers for the allowed servers. Zone transfers are usually controlled with a cryptographic secret to authorize the transfer and prevent servers from 'spoofing' their identity as a trusted host. No key == no zone transfer.
    Is it good or bad?
Its primary purpose is to speed up the resolution of DNS requests for other DNS servers that would be querying your zone on a regular basis for name resolution. If you have a number of internal DNS servers that need to resolve hosts in your organization you would normally allow zone transfers to those servers by adding their IP numbers to the 'addressmatchlist' portion of the option. This would reduce lookup times for hosts that query those DNS servers. So, yes, it is a good thing.

  • Airplay on iTunes - can you select a reciever's zone(s)?

Hello, I have Airplay on iTunes streaming fine to a new Denon receiver. Latest firmware / software on all.
Due to the way my home system is set up, I need Airplay to stream to Zone 2 of my receiver instead of Zone 1 (Zone 1 plays only in the den, while Zone 2 lets me play music throughout the house via Control4).
The person who helped with my setup said that when you select 'Multiple' in Airplay, each Zone should show up as an option under the Denon Receiver, so you can select one or both zones of the Denon in Airplay, in which case I could simply select Zone 2. After a lot of seaching I have been unable to verify this though.
I get no Zone options under my receivers in Airplay - only the option to select the receivers themselves.
Does anyone actually see Zone options under their receiver in Airplay? If so, any advice on how to activate this functionality?
    thank you.

    Thank you, Winston.
So I guess there is no known way for Airtunes streaming to play on zone 2 of a receiver instead of (or in addition to) zone 1?
Being that every A/V receiver must reserve Zone 1 for 5-channel home theatre, this seems like a major limitation of the Denon and Marantz integrations with Airplay. One would think they realized that most users would want to stream in rooms besides where the TV is located...
I guess I'll need to step up to Apple TV and/or Sonos to accomplish this.
