Two movies on the same DVD ?

This question may not be in the right place, but I did not find an appropriate spot on line.
Is there a trick to get on the same DVD two different VIDEO-TS files that would play independently on a DVD player. I want to do it straight from two other DVDs, without extracting them and use FCP.
I have two short Super 8mm transfer on two DVDs.
I wish to make a copy of these two on a single DVD.
When I used Toast and burn a DVD by copying the two files, each of them containing a VIDEO-TS, it did not read as a video DVD on a DVD player...., neither on my MAC. I checked that the files had been burnt properly, I can access them as files, but not play them .

Here are the steps with Toast 7. (By the way, check if you have 7.0.1; if not, download the update)
1. Open Toast and select DVD video as the format in the Toast Video window.
2. Either insert one of the DVDs you want to merge OR place one of the VIDEO_TS Folders that is on your hard drive onto the desktop.
3. Click the Media button near the top left. This enters the Media Browser.
4. Click the top button in the browser and choose DVD. After a few seconds your DVD should appear in the lower window.
5. Double-click on the DVD that is in the lower window. This should display a list of 1 or more titles that are in the VIDEO_TS folder. (If double-clicking doesn't work you can get to this level using the lower of the two buttons in the browser).
6. Click on any title(s) you want to merge on your DVD and drag it to the Toast Video window. This extracts the MPEG from the VOBs and saves it temporarily in the Roxio Converted Items folder in your Documents folder.
7. Either eject the DVD or remove the VIDEO_TS folder from your desktop and repeat steps 2 through 6 for the other DVD or VIDEO_TS folder.
8. You now have the titles you want on the new DVD showing in the Toast Video window. Click the Formats button that's next to the Media button. Choose a menu style that you want. Choose also if you want the first title automatically start playing when the disc is inserted (otherwise the menu appears first) and if you want the second title to automatically start playing when the first one is ended.
9. In the Video window edit any text that will better describe your videos. Be sure to change the My DVD text to something that is more meaningful because it will appear on your menu. Lastly, click on the thumbnail image and drag the scroll bar to select a frame you want displayed in the menu.
10. I prefer to choose Save as Disc Image from the Toast File menu instead of clicking the burn button. This writes a DVD image file to the hard drive that can be mounted and viewed in DVD Player. It is a good way to test that the menu looks the way you want prior to burning the DVD. If all is okay you can then burn the image file to disc using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window. If the image file is too big to fit a single-layer DVD you'll be given the option to have the video compressed to fit a single-layer disc. That's a nice feature.
11. Quitting Toast automatically empties the Converted Items folder by default. If you don't want the folder emptied, go to Toast preferences and change the default setting.
