UDF to count occurance of a particular field of a segment

Hi Friends
Please help me in writing this UDF .
I have a scenario iDOC(WPDBBY01) to file in which i have a requrment like this :
Sender field is E1WPBB03(segment)
the target field is Alt1_Qty to Alt9_Qty
My problem is this segment E1WPBB03 is repetive means can occur more than one time so can the field
so what i want to achieve is if it occurs only 1 time it should go to Alt1_Qty
if it occurs second time then it should be mapped to ALt2_Qty
if 3rd occurance than should map to ALt3_qty
and so on till the 9th occurance .
Please help me in this in the easiest way out as i am a beginner in XI so dont want to go for some UDF if its not necessary.

Hi,
Please use below link to create the UDF in graphical mapping.
1. In Message mapping at left most bottom corner, click on new Icon to create the UDF.
2. Give some name as TestCount1 etc and Select the check box Parameter as "Queue".
3. By default there is one input parameter will be there as "A"
4. The java editor will be open as shown in below snap-shots. (We should thanks to Raj for sharing these snap-shots of UDF)

5. Copy paste the above mentioned code in udf and then save and close it.
6. In graphical mapping API list you will get option as User Defined similar to Text, Arithmatic, Date etc.
7. Once the User Defined is select then the TestCount1 will be appear at bottom.
8. Drag and drop in Graphical editor. Give Source field as input paramter as
iDOC(WPDBBY01) --> testCount1 -->Alt1_Qty
9. Similarly do the all procedure to create one more udf TestCount2 and map it as
iDOC(WPDBBY01) --> testCount2 -->Alt9_Qty
For TestCount1 use below code
if(A.length>1)
for(i=0; i<A.length;i++)
result.addValue(A);
For TestCount2 use below code
if(A.length == 1)
result.addValue(A[0]);

I have one last doubt that may be you people can help with... The user will be giving the segment name and field name as input. So by following Kesav's code while i can get all the values in the segment structure at runtime please suggest how to display any one field from that structure given that that particular field will come at runtime.
EX: user gives an idoc number 123 (say belonging to Orders basic type)
segment E1EDK01
field BELNR.
So i need to display the value of E1EDK01-BELNR of idoc number 123.
Please suggest how to achieve this....

How to look for a particular field in the segments of IDOC ?

I am looking at a particular IDOC which I will use to do data trasfer from lgacy to R/3 using BAPI in LSMW. Now I know a field which is required to create a given business transaction when igrating data. But there are 100's of segments on the IDOC.
Is there a way I can see if the given field is present in any of the IDOC segment ? I don't want to dig though each and everys egment and find it out...

Try using WE09..There you have the option of searching by the idoc data..CHeck in the bottom of the selection screen

Hi,
You are receiving XML message within a field. To access a particular field from that XML message, you could create a User Defined Function, as suggested by many already.
You could write UDF using some of the String operation functions. This could include following:
1. If you need to access field Employee PersonnelNumber, you could get last index of that within string using function lastIndexOf(String str). Pass string "Employee PersonnelNumber="" for this function.
2. This function would return an index of rightmost occurance of this string.
3. after this you could get the index of next occurance of ", as the value of field is within quotes. You could use function indexOf(int ch, int fromIndex) for getting the same. You would pass Character as " and index as the one received by previous function.
4. Now you have index for starting and ending point of value string for desired field.
5. After this you could use substring(int beginIndex, int endIndex) function by passing first and second index values to retrieve the needed string, which contains value of field.

Hiding a Particular Field in Report Builder 6.0

Hi Folks,
In one of my reports which consists of several linked tables, I want a particular field to be omitted in the report output when there are no values for a record. Even the heading/prompt for that field/column should not be printed. I tried using the conditional formatting option but it does not work for the column heading and gives the following error:
REP-1314: Format Trigger M_1 refernces column 'COMM' at wrong frequency.
It only helps if we have the trigger at the field not at the heading.
Any ideas???

One of the solutions is:
make a summurized field (that will count the numbers of records - you'ld use a COUNT function) in the group above the target item and then in formating trigger of the frame you will test the number of the newest field (0 means zero records fetched).

How to assign the Value to the Particular field-Text field

Hi all,
My requirement is to call the Web service with input from the ADF page.
Steps I have done:
1. I have created a Web service data control based on the WSDL file.
2. Just drag and drop the Process, It is automatically created the form with the Input fields and then the Process button
3. When I entered the values and then process button it will pass the values corretly.the web service is invoked correctly with the values entered.
4. But when I try to assign the value from the some other field that is not working.
I am assigning the Value to the field by go to the properties of the Particular field value =”CREATE”
When I do like this that value is showing in the screen. But it will not pass the value to the web service.
I think the value is only displaying in the screen. Not stored at bindings level. Kindly guide me in this.

If you want to have the value that is returned displayed in a field that has binding to another item and not the WS result item then the way to do this would be to override the method that is invoked with the button that calls the web service - you then take the result and assign it to the item you want.

How to set a default value for particular field in SRM PO Portal

Dear Gurus,
Im desparetly need a help in web dynpro on how to set a default value for a field(flag) in PO header tab in portal.
My requirement is whenever the user press the edit button in PO screen,automatically a flag field should be set as abap_false.
I dont think this will handle in check badi or change badi. i tried this part in onbuttonpressed overwriteexit in CNR_VIEW views,i can get the function EDIT in debugging mode,but dont know how to proceed further.....
Many of them suggested to go with get attribute and set attribute for changing any particular field in web dynpro,but im not very familiar in using those get and set attributes.I request you people can give me sample code on how to identify my target field in the node and set the values while pressing EDIT Button.

i want to to modify a field in a database table record identification by primary key fileds
the situatio is like this
there are two primay key in database table
customer number PK
status PK
date
and third field which i want to modify is customer part number.
based on condition that

Use UPDATE function for updating the customer part number.
But please do mention the database table and the keys used for update.
if en entry already exists with the key then the Entry will fail so use MODIFY statement to modify the Consumber Part Number with the specificed keys and transport the modified customer part number and then do COMMIT the changed entry to database.

In the Screen Layout, Double click on the field on which you wish to attach the search help.
In the properties window you can specify the search help for that field.
Search help for Material No. is MAT1.
You can find it in the Table structure (SE11) , "Entry help/check" tab.

Hi Sai,
make the layout of your root container as matrix layout
then make item1 as matrix head data.
inset one transparent ui just after first 100. then make this transparent ui as matrix head data.
then make 902 as matrix head data
inset one transparent ui just after second 100. then make this transparent ui as matrix head data.
repeat the same for next set too.
You can also do the same with row layout for root element.
