UFL for CR Java Project issues

Morning All,
I have started working with the new CR Java Projects that came with CR4Ev2 (at least I think they new,
only seen them recently) and my UFL's that work perfectly with the CR Web Project are no longer working.
(I have also created a very simple UFL in the Java perspective to test)
Am I still able to develope UFL's for my reports that are used in a CRJP?
Before with CRWP I imported my UFL jar into ../WebContent/WEB-INF/lib and added the
<ExternalFunctionLibraryClassNames>
         <classname>....UserLibrary</classname>
</ExternalFunctionLibraryClassNames>
reference in my CRConfig.xml file.
In CRJP there is no CRConfig.xml file and no webcontent.... folder so I first tried importing the jar as an
External JAR in the  >> Properties >> Java Build Path >> Libraries.
But this did not help (Although I must say if I preview the reports within Eclipse the UFL function works)
When I try run my CRJP everything seems to be working but then I get this error
Exception in formula '{@Turk}' at 'num_to_words(1)
The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula.
{@Turk} is my CR formula and num_to_words is my function.
Turk
num_to_words(1);
I have also tried creating the WebContent/WEB_INF/lib folder structure and importing the UFL jar there
but that didnt make any difference (didnt expect it to but am desperate)
Is there something else that I need to do or change that will get my UFL's working in my Runnable JAR?
~~ ON a side note are there any CRJP tutorials or notes out there? I can find the CRWP ones fairly
easily but CRJP information is not that easy.
Thanks
Darren

Hello Darren,
With a Crystal Reports Java Project, you'd classpath reference either (1) the the folder where the CRConfig.xml is found with the UFL definition, or (2) the jar file where you've placed the CRConfig.xml.
As long as the Java process can find the CRConfig.xml file with the UFL definition, things will work.
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

  • Mysql database only for one java project

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me if somehow I can connect mysql only for one java project.
For e.g. I'm building a swing application I need to use database for some purposes. I want to have all in one. That my project will contain database only for it and nothing else. The user could not be able to connect to that mysql which I'm using for my project.
Any ideas how to make this work?

    Paulius wrote:
Yes. I want that the database would be implemented in my program (project). And it must be used only with this project and nothing else. Then you'll probably want to use one of the In-memory databases. There was one that came with Java these days too, JavaDB or similar I think.
You can't embed MySQL (AFAIK) in your project.

  • Bug in workshop Project Properties for a Java Project !!

I have a Java project which i am trying to make work with junitee so
that i can automate my test cases. I have installed junitee as a web
application named 'junitee' and configured it no problem.
I have my JUnit test cases in Java Project named 'UnitTest'. What i want
to happen is that when i build my UnitTest project i want the resulting
JAR file UnitTest.jar copied into the WEB-INF\lib of the junitee project.
In order to do this i needed to change the project 'Build' options and
select the "Copy JAR file from Libraires to Project as" and refer to the
    junitee web app as follows:-
    ../junitee/WEB-INF/lib/UnitTest.jar
Unfortunately when i do this and select Ok to save my changes workshop
    gives me the following error:-
The JAR name contains illegal characters. Please correct the name.
However i have managed to get around this and make it work by manually
modifying my .work file by hand and not through workshop. This works and
achieves exactly what i want however it must be a bug in workshop to not
allow this through the Project Properties window !.
Else if it is deliberate then i cant see why as you should be able to
copy a JAR file to any lcoation inside the project if you wish to. I
hope this gets fixed in SP3.

.. I tried using iPhoto to export a QT file of an image slideshow....
I would start here to play on the knobs&sliders ..
what were your settings for export? "QT file" => that is many dozends of options of compression, codecs, resolutions, etc. pp ...
the consumer apps FCE and iM are meant for TV display only => reduced res + reduced colors, quality reduced due to interlace (due to TV standards) ...-
a Full Res, h264 encoded qt.mov should display your photos in shining quality ...

how can i create .exe file or wrapper for my core java project

To be honest with you this is going to be very difficult at best.
And I'm not sure it's entirely realistic or legal. You'll need to install Tomcat and MySQL and all your stuff...Haven't ever tried doing so, but I think it might be quite possible sollution...
There's a preconfigured version of Tomcat, that you simply unzip on the drive (so there's no nned of running installator).
If OP would use some MySQL server's clone, that needs no installation (some time ago i was looking for thing like thatand found couple of those).
All configuration (installing services etc.) as well as copying JSPs and other stuff to Tomcat dirs can be made with script files (.bat or whatever) or under another java application that will run all the commands...
As cotton.m wrote... if it works, it's going to be hell lot of work...

  • Java projects in Flash Builder

    Hi all,
I previously used Flex Builder 3 on Vista x64.   Inside Flex Builder 3, I had both flex projects and java projects.  I needed both because I use BlazeDS and kept the java code in a separate project.  I would only like 1 development environment.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 x64 and went ahead and upgraded my Flex Builder 3 to Flash Builder 4.
It was a simple measure to import my flex projects into Flash Builder 4.
When I tried to import the Flex 3 java projects into Flash Builder 4, Flash Builder responded with:
" The folder does not contain a valid Flash Builder Project."
Short of installing Eclipse, a 32bit version of java, and using the Flash Builder Plugin, is there a way to get my java projects to import and compile in Flash Builder 4 while running on Windows 7 x64?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts,
    - Steve
P.S.  I may have had to import something special to get it to work in Flex Builder 3, I just can't remember.

If you're trying to compile Java projects in FB4, you'll need to add eclipse's Java Development Tools (JDT).
You can add the JDT this way:
    - quit FB4, and launch with "Run as Administrator" from the context (right-click) menu
    - from the Help menu choose "Install New Software..."
    - in the resulting dialog click "Add", and enter a name of your choosing such as "Galileo Updates" in the Name field
    - enter this URL into the Location field:
    http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo/
    - hit OK and then browse the available Galileo Updates
    - select Programming Languages > Eclipse Java Development Tools
    - continue on with the usual Update workflow, and after finishing it will prompt you to relaunch automatically.
Allow FB4 to relaunch, and you should now have the JDT available for compiling Java projects.

  • Large Java projects in 2004s

I'm interested to get references of 'larger' projects done in the Java stack by <b>non-</b>SAP teams/partners. I have the impression that the internal SAP Java focus lies mainly on the new Java 5 stack (which is normal) but that there are still a lot of 'features' in the 2004s NWDI stack which make larger projects cumbersome. (Large is pretty relative here: a dozen DC's over a few tracks covering a few hundred Java classes.)

If you're trying to compile Java projects in FB4, you'll need to add eclipse's Java Development Tools (JDT).
You can add the JDT this way:
    - quit FB4, and launch with "Run as Administrator" from the context (right-click) menu

  • Best Practices for Defining NDS Java Projects...

We are doing a Proof of Concept on using NDS to develop non-SAP Java applications.  We are attempting to determine if we can replace our current Java development tools with NDS/WAS.
We are struggling with SAP's terminology and "plumbing" for setting up/defining Java projects.  For example, what is and when do you define Tracks, Software Components, Development Components, etc.  All of these terms are totally foreign to us and do not relate to our current Java environment (at least not that we can see).  We are also struggling with how the DTR and activities tie in to those components.
If any one has defined best practices for setting up Java projects or has struggled with and overcome these same issues, please provide us with some guidance.  This is a very frustrating and time-consuming issue for us.
    Thank you!!

    Hi Peggy,
In Component Model we divide software projects into small components.Components can use other components in well defined manner.
A development object is a part of a component that can be changed or developed in some way; it provides the component with a certain part of its functionality. A development object may be a Java class, a Web Dynpro view, a table definition, a JSP page, and so on. Development objects are always stored as “sources” in a repository.
A development component can be defined as a frame shared by a number of objects, which are part of the software.
Software components combine components (DCs) to larger units for delivery and deployment.
A track comprises configurations and runtime systems required for developing software component versions. It ensures stable states of deliverables used by subsequent tracks.
The Design Time Repository is for versioning source code management. Distributed development of software in teams. Transport and replication of sources.
You can also find lot of support in SDN for the above concepts with tutorials.

  • Writing a setup file for Java project

    Hello friends,
I am Kiran , very new to this Forum and also for java programming, my SE programmed a java project.
now I got to do two things --
1.I have to create a jar file with those class files and also an exe file which can execute that jar file.
    2. I have to write a "setup file" for automatic instalation of my Java project.
so I request my friends to help in these two issues by providing some suggestions to do them.
    Thank you in advance.
    Kiran Karnati.

1.I have to create a jar file with those class filesI suggest you use ant to build the jar file. Thee are many tutorials available if you use google.
and also an exe file which can execute that jar file.Java will execute the jar file e.g.
    java -jar myjar.jar
Of from windows just double click on the jar file.
    2. I have to write a "setup file" for automatic instalation of my Java project. You can do this with ant for remote deployment or use a batch file or use another jar which when run unpacks the application.
BTW Is Kiran a girl's name or a boy's name or both?

  • Java vs. C# for a new project

    Hi,
I know this has probably been done to death, but the world changes and the old arguments lose their validity so I'd be interested in people's thoughts:
I work for a largely C# shop, but due to a general dislike of .net and Microsoft from the developers there is the possibility of using something non-MS for a new project. Currently it is looking like the app will be a traditional client-server app. Java has been mentioned as a possible alternative, and being an old Java guy myself I'm excited about the possibility of using it again!
I have a meeting with the directors to discuss reasons why we'd want to use Java in place of C#. The directors have made a lot of cash out of MS platforms, but are open to change if I can convince them - I've come up with the following reasons:
    1) Java is more widely adopted in 'serious' industry and the biggest websites e.g. ebay, Amazon etc. all use it as their platform of choice
    2) Portable - we are having a desktop client. Whilst running on non-Windows desktops may not be a priority now, Macs and Linux are making noteworthy ground (Apple are nearly tipping 10% for the first time in decades!). Java would let us sell to these clients too.
    3) Cheaper - Don't need to pay thousands for MS licences before they can even run our software (IIS, SQL Server etc.)
    4) Better community - can leverage various OSS projects to accelerate development - in the .net world similar components are likely to be chargeable (and probably expensive!)
What do you think to my reasons and can anyone think of any other compelling arguments?
    Many thanks,
    Ash

makes no sense. Use the appropriate technology for the solution rather than something 'you like'.
Their 'dislike of .NET' almost certainly means they're stuck in the past and don't want to put in the effort to learn anything newer than VB6.

    3) Cheaper - Don't need to pay thousands for MS licences before they can even run our software (IIS, SQL Server etc.)Wrong.
IIS comes free with Windows, and you still need a quality database server. As your current customers will be using MS SQL Server that's the most logical choice and its integration with .NET is way better than its integration with Java.
The most viable alternative is Oracle which is even more expensive.
The most viable alternative for IIS when using Oracle is WebLogic which is more expensive than is IIS (which after all is free).
    4) Better community - can leverage various OSS projects to accelerate development - in the .net world similar components are likely to be chargeable (and probably expensive!)
Could be. But that could just be because you know the Java community better.
What do you think to my reasons and can anyone think of any other compelling arguments?
Unless you or (more important) your customers already have a Unix environment in place, there is no real reason to not use .NET.

  • Open Forte for java project in Sun java studio enterprise

Hi Everyone, I am new to Java development. I have a java application developed in Forte for java 4 and I need to open and compile it in Sun java studio enterprise. Could anybody tell me how to do that? Thank you very much.

The recent versions of the IDE (starting with NetBeans 4.1 and JSE 8) are based on a more-robust project system that is ant based. Projects from Forte for Java 4, unfortunately, cannot be directly opened in JSE8, NB4.1 and later.
If you do have access to the original source code, pl. try the following in the latest version of JSE or NetBeans:
    - Create a fresh project in jse using File | New Project. (For a java standalone app, you would choose General | Java Application from the dialog).
    - Add the existing files to the empty project. You can do so by right-clicking on the project, selecting properties and adding the existing source directories under 'Source Packages' in 'Sources' category.
Or from the new project dialog, you could select 'General | Java Project with existing sources' option.
