UI Shell and BTF Query

I am creating an application based on UI shell. I have a number of external bounded task flows that are deployed as jars which have been added to the project through Libraries and Classpath/add jar.
I have a number of navigation buttons that will open the btfs. In the examples I have seen online the btfs have created within the same project so exist in the web-inf directory. My question is this - in the addTab method of the tabscontext how do I refer to the 'external' btf. Most examples are something like '/web-inf/dept-task-flow.xml#dept-task-flow' Is there a step that I am missing that I should take to add the 'external' btf to the web-inf??

The answer to your question is that you refer to them exactly as you would an internal btf. As long as the library is added to the UI Shell, all the task flows of the libraries are visible to it. So, if in your case, '/web-inf/dept-task-flow.xml#dept-task-flow' was created in another application, packaged up as a library, and added to the UI shell, the UI Shell could find it by using '/web-inf/dept-task-flow.xml#dept-task-flow'.
You can probably see what this means for your overall project. In order for the UI Shell to "find" all of your btfs, they all need to have unique names. You can't have btfs in different libraries with the same name, i.e. '/web-inf/dept-task-flow.xml#dept-task-flow' can only exist once.

In our undergraduate chemical engineering labboratory we want to configure our shell and tube heat exchanger with a DAq and Lab VIEW to get information about the temperaure (of the cold fluid stream being heated), the pressure (of the steam on the shell side of the heat exchanger) and the flowrate (of the water being heated).
Can anyone suggest thermocouples, pressure transducers and flowmeters to fit between the heat exchanger and the DAq?
P.S. the heat exchanger is already fitted with thermometers, a pressure gauge and a rotameter but we don't know how to connect these hardware to the DAq

It sounds like you have enough information to pick out appropriate sensors, you just need to do the research. I would start looking through the Omega catalog, or give them a call - they're usually helpful. I can't take the time to spec out parts for you - that would be a lot of time spent on someone else's project. Most pressure sensors put out either a 4-20mA or 0-5V signal, either of which you can read through an analog input on a DAQ; measuring a 4-20mA signal requires a resistor to convert to voltage. Most of the NI DAQ boards can read a thermocouple on an analog input, but make sure that your hardware does support reading thermocouples. For accurate readings, use a device that has built-in cold junction compensation - for example, the SCB-68 connector block - and for the most accurate readings, get a board specifically designed for temperature measurement.
For the flow measurement, a standard, simple solution is an orifice plate. You put a differential pressure transducer across it, look up the appropriate equations, and use them to calculate the flow rate given the density of the fluid (which you'll be able to calculate from the pressure and temperature, since steam tables are widely available). There are other differential pressure devices available as well - at a previous job we used a V-Cone from McCrometer. If you call them they'll spec one for you - but get an approximate cost first to make sure it's within your budget.

Verifying and parsing "query" in cm:select query="..." ...

I'm writting a session EJB that's passed a param (String query) which is supposed
to be any valid "query" string passed to the cm:select tag (see "http://edocs.bea.com/wlcs/docs31/p13ndev/jsptags.htm#1057716"
for more info on this tag and the query param).
My problem is this: I don't think I should write ALL the stuff to validate and
parse this string because bea has already done it in: com.beasys.commerce.foundation.expression.*;
but the only source of documentation available on those classes is the Javadoc(which
isn't that complete). Has anyone used these classes before(Search, Expression,
Criteria, Logical)? Does anyone know of some documents on how to use them?

when I enter the purchase invoice for 15 qty on 02-jan-2009
after say '15-jan-09' , a new record should get inserted
with opening balance = (closing balance before 02-jan-2009)

If the invoice for 20 qty is entered for the existing date say
'03-jan-2009' in inventory , then the closing balance
for 03-jan-2009 should get updated and all the following records
should get affected.
I need the insert for the first one and update query for the
second one.

Thinking about it, why do you want to design your system like this?
Why not simply have your purchases table hold the required information and then either work out the inventory on the fly, or have a job that calls a procedure to add a row for the previous day?
If you continue with this design, you're opening yourself up to a world of pain - what happens when the data doesn't match the purchases table? Also when is the inventory cut-off to reset the opening/closing balances? Monthly? Annually? Weekly? If it's set to one of those, what happens when the business request the inventory for a particular week?

Hello! It is my understanding that you need to add the individual files to the Source Code Control along with the .lvproj file.

How to invoke BASH shell and execute a command in that shell in Windows 98

Hello, I have a problem and if somebody will help me, I will be very glad. Thank you.
I am using BASH shell on Windows 98 OS by means of CYGWIN. And I want to invoke this BASH shell and execute a preprogrammed command in the shell (./scan fileName.txt) from a JAVA program. But so far, I am not sucessful. I can not read or write anything from / to BASH shell. It either blocks and freezes (When I use waitFor( ) ) or appears and disappears without executing scan command (When I do not use waitFor( ) ). My code is like this:

You cannot invoke BAT files directly, you have to invoke the program that run those files which is your Windows 98 shell. For example (under windows 2000), i would invoke "cmd.exe sricpt.bat some args", rather than "script.bar some args".

Not sure if you are saying you want the prompts on the same page as the results... however in 7.0 with BEx Analyzer, you can insert a text object from the design toolbar and assign it to the variable.... this way, lets say you run query for period 6, then the text object will display "6" on the same area where the query results are.

Is it possible to have both a search of some files and a

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but it's possible
to combine database and files while indexing.

[SOLVED] Opening Shell and runnning command(s)

Hi,
I have just discovered the wonderful program xbindkeys, and am thus setting all my keybindings. I ran into a problem when I came to adding the music keybinding [EDIT]. I don't use a gui, just command line mplayer, so this is a bit problematic, as I want to be able to launch a shell and then run a command inside that shell (in this case cd /home/jhl/music/mplaylist && mplayer *). So when I try :
konsole -e cd /home/jhl/music/myplaylist && mplayer *
It does not do what I expected . I've looked around here and on google for an answer, but have yet to find one.
All help is greatly appreciated .

How to implement enter and execute query in ADF

I am new to ADF and I am trying to create a simple data entry screen in ADF 11g based on a database table. I am looking to implement the equivalent of the Enter Query and Execute Query feature in Oracle Forms. I tried the default operations that are available with the data controls. But they don't seem to have this feature. Can someone help me / point me to how this can be implemented.

Thanks Shay. As per your suggestion I have included the Find and Execute buttons for the VO Object and ran the page. I first clicked the Find button and entered by query condition and then clicked the Execute button. At this point I get an error popup asking me to enter values for all the mandatory fields. Am I missing something?

Alarm and Event Query Very Slow

I am using the DSC Alarm and Event Query vi to pull data from the SQL database (not the Citadel). I have a filter set up that specifies the "Alarm Area" and the start and stop dates with maximun results set to 22. These dates are set to only pull the last 24 hrs. This vi will return around 10 to 20 entries out of perhaps 80-90 total events in the last 24 hours in the database. This database is ~2M in size. I have to set the timeout to almost 10 min for this vi to not produce a timeout error. The results returned are correct but it just seems that the time to run this vi is excessive. It is quering a database on the same system that the quering vi is running on. Should I expect better preformance?

I have boiled down the code to this attachment. This query took almost 7 min to return 22 results from a database size that is listed as 2.09877E+6. I have also tried the Alarms and Event Query to spreadsheet vi also and it takes the same amount of time. I am wondering if I place the Alarms and Events into the same (Citidel) database that the traces are going if it would be much faster. I seem to get trace data back very fast. If I recall correctly I seperated the alarms from the trace because I was having some sort of problem accessing the alarm data in the combined database...but that was several labVIEW versions ago. Anyone else having this problem?

OBIEE -10.1.3.4.1 - high physical and logical query response

Hi All,
I am facing an performance issue in OBIEE 10g .My report is taking 2 mins to come up and when i fired the physical query in the db the data is coming in 2 secs.
Below is the details from the log file.Here I observed that response time for physical and logical query is 109 sec ~ 2 mins.Please provide me the helpful pointers.

Did you run the SQL from a client on the OBIEE server or your local machine? Does the Physical SQL on the OBIEE server against the DB run in 2 Seconds and when sent by the OBIEE server it takes 109 seconds?? Is that correct?

Query on a table runs more than 45mins(after stats) and same query runs 19secs(before stats - rebuild)

- different explain plan used afterr stats gather.

What is the difference you see in the explain plan ? Where it spends most time. All these needs to be analysed.
