UIX EventHandler  and DataProvider to JSF

Does the migration utility provide a mapping for Java code, or is this a manual process?
If manual, what are the patterns are required for these UIX interfaces.
DataProvider's can map striaght to a managed bean, but EventHanlder's are a different matter.
JSF Events (Listeners) do not provide the same function as the UIX Event Handlers. JSF has separate concepts, Controllers and Listeners.
Thus, again, I'm a little confused on which direction to take.
Our product makes heavy use of UIX Event Handlers and a complex Page Flow Engine.
Any help welcome.
Thanks
Pat

Brado,
we are looking at UIX migration but there isn't much we can do for JSPs. UIX is a technology close to Faces, which is why we might be able to help here. There is a statement of direction available on the Jdeveloper website on OTN that talks about our UIX plans (otn.oracle.com/products/jdev)

  • Integration of JSP and xhtml in jsf project

    Can we use both jsp and xhtml in single jsf project. Actually I encountered a problem while configuring jsp and xhtml in web.xml of jsf project. The web.xml configuration file allows to use only one view handler (jsp or xhtml).By default it use jsp view handler. For xhtml view handler, we need to define following context param -:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>javax.faces.DEFAULT_SUFFIX</param-name>
    <param-value>.xhtml</param-value>
    </context-param>
    Please let me know any possibility to configure both jsp and xhtml in jsf project(web.xml).
    My actual requirement is that I need to forward to new page(xhtml) from an xhtml page without using faces-config. I am not able to find any facelets tags which let me forward to new xhtml page. So I am thinking to use jsp to exploit the jsp tag called forward. But the constraint is that we can use only one view handler with jsf project.

  • Using facelets and Visual web jsf frameworks together

    I am developing a new jsf application and I wanted to make the page navigation simpler like making the content pages independently using woodstock components and including them in the main template page.
    I have downloaded Facelets support plugin for netbeans and installed it. I have created a new project using the wizard and i specified the two (facelets and visual web jsf) as frameworks for use. But I failed to leverage my application with facelets because I don't know how to use woodstock components with facelets.
    I am new to jsf and i want the woodstock visual components. Can't I use facelets then?
    Plz help.

    I managed to find a workaround. Thought i should share it with those who are faced with a similar issue.
    I found that a bug report had been placed in the past with Apache Dev. However, they had said that they would not modify their logic because the servlet container spec requires it (even though isapi_redirector is only a connector and not a container). They said that there is no way for the isapi_redirector to differentiate between /foo/WEB-INF when foo is a context and when foo is just a sub-directory of the ROOT web application. So, the general consensus was to err on the side of safety and risk blocking a few requests that are valid.
    However, this causes a serious issue for those using NetBeans JSF Visual Web Projects. Hence, I created my own flavour of isapi_redirector by modifying the code such that this check is not performed and leaving the onus of checking on Tomcat.
    For those who are interested, the simplest way to go about this would be to force the function uri_is_web_inf (in jk_isapi_plugin.c ) to always return FALSE.

  • How to display date and time on jsf page

    Hi,
    how to display date and time on jsf page
    we are using 11.2.0.0 jdeveloper on windows.

    Your question is certainly lacking some information.
    If you want a constantly updating date/time - then JavaScript is your best bet, and Google would find you examples like [url http://www.webestools.com/scripts_tutorials-code-source-7-display-date-and-time-in-javascript-real-time-clock-javascript-date-time.html]this
    If you meant something else, then it's back to you to explain.

  • UIX Buttons and HTML Buttons

    Hi all,
    I'm creating a UIX application, and I don't want to use the icons for UIX buttons. It's not that I have another custom icon--I just want to render them as HTML <input type="submit">.
    I know I could mock up an HTML button as an image and use a custom LAF to do the substitution...but that seems like overkill; it seems like it'd be pretty pointless for users to have to download an image that their browsers are perfectly capable of producing.
    Is there any way I can use a snippet of HTML instead of an image to render buttons in UIX?
    Thanks much,
    Avrom

    Erm...oh dear. Never mind.
    The answer, for anyone who was curious, is just to extend minimal desktop, instead of a heavier desktop.
    Although I'd still be curious...if I had wanted to use some of the standard UIX UI widgets but not others, and I'd wanted to use HTML (rather than fancy images) for the others, could I have done so?

  • UIX/XML and BC4J -- practical???

    Has anyone actually used UIX/XML and BC4J to develop a "real" application? The majority of the examples in the help screens use jsp's, yet the comparisons I've read in the help screens seem to indicate that XML is more flexible.
    UIX/XML seems like such a clever concept, I like the idea, but it's getting the best of me. Should I jump ship now?
    Any comments please!
    js

    Examples are definitely what's needed and I put my request for a full blown MVC application using UIX/XML (without BC4J in my case) to Adam a while ago which was forwarded to the 'management'. Hopefully something will come from this soon. I agree with Janet that UIX is a great concept (don't jump ship yet!) and it should save us so much work but that real world examples would surely help us all. No disrespect, Juan, but you regularly respond to people's questions with 'Have you read the UIX developer's guide provided in the documentation' - we've all read the documentation many times, if only it were that simple! I'm sure it's easier for someone inside Oracle to get the answers they need whereas we on the 'outside' have to rely on this forum for now which is a struggle.
    Bill's idea of illustrations would be great, though I'd like to see the examples relate to the sample screens show on the BLAF standards website. I only found out about the BLAF website accidentally through this forum. The UIX Developer's Guide should explicity reference this as I've found it extremely useful.
    Ed,
    The UIX Developer's Guide is in the JDeveloper Help.

    We also had the same problem.
    We used the panel page, for enclosing all our UI components. We removed all the menu, header, branding tags from the page.
    We thaen used a txt file having....
    <f:facet name="menu1">
    <af:menuTabs>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Cases"
    action="#{backing_view_dockets_docketsEdit.onCasesMenuClick}"
    immediate="true"/>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Parties" immediate="true"
    action="#{backing_view_parties_partiesEdit.onPartiesMenuClick}"/>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="General Documents" immediate="true"
    action="#{backing_view_genDocs_genDocsEdit.onGDMenuClick}"/>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="RTS Events"/>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Global Search" onclick="globalSearch()"/>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Content Browse" onclick="htree()"/>
    <af:commandMenuItem text="Log Out" action="logout"/>
    </af:menuTabs>

    <f:facet name="brandingApp"/>
    <f:facet name="appCopyright"/>

  • NavigationHandler and different advanced JSF features

    Hi,
    I have just started learning JSF and I have quite sophisticated (as for beginner) web application to do. I have to implement templates, changeable dynamic navigation dependent on database content (little CMS), database access with connection pool,etc. Where can I find some source of advanced knowledge about JSF, any examples, tutorials, links. It can be even good book (definitely no basic level). Or complete NavigationHandler example just for begin.
    Thanks for any reply,

    The Core JavaServer Faces, of Prentice Hall 2004 is the best book to start with.
    Don't be afraid of the year of the book. It covers everything you need to know JSF.
    Also the J2EE tutorial from sun is good. Chapters 17 to 21

  • JSF Navigation issue with Webcenter OC4J and Open Portal JSF Bridge

    Hi All,
    I was wondering if anybody had experienced the same issue as per below:
    I have a problem using the Open Portal JSF Portlet Bridge within a oracle webcenter OC4J. I have a trivial application with 2 jsps. The first has a single button, which when pushed navigates to the second screen.
    This app works fine as a stand alone web app and also via the Oracle Faces Bridge using the OC4J. However, when I deploy using the jsfportletbridge 1.1.4 (I'm using the JSF 1.1) - it will not navigate from the first page. It simply refreshes the first page when clicked.
    It looks like there is a problem with navigation. I have traced out the application (which I will include in full below), however the entries which looked relevant were (this occured after the first page was rendered):
    07/06/05 23:49:19 [DEBUG] StateManagerImpl - Begin restoring view in session for viewId /hello.jsp
    07/06/05 23:49:19 [DEBUG] StateManagerImpl - Session Available, but View State does not exist for viewId: /hello.jsp
    07/06/05 23:49:19 [TRACE] LifecycleImpl - Creating new view '/hello.jsp'
    My gut feel is that state is not being retained between requests, so it is just recreating the same view, however I'm at a loss to explain why

    I'm missing some things in your portlet.xml deployment descriptor.
    It looks like your application doesn't make use of a JSF binding layer, so it should be enough to initialize a Faces lifecycle listener like this:
    <init-param>
    <name>DefaultPage.view</name>
    <value>/index.jspx</value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>
    oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
    </value>
    </init-param>
    The DefaultPage.view parameter specifies the default page of the application to use as the View mode for the portlet. Its location is relative to the web-app-context-root and always start with a /.
    The BridgeLifecycleListeners parameter specifies the filter classes to use. You must ensure that your portlet.xml file is configured to match the filters specified in your web.xml file. If you do not have the proper classes defined in portlet.xml, then you will receive a missing class error. You specify the classes in the BridgeLifecycleListeners init-param in your portlet.xml file:
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>listener_class_n[,listener_class_n+1,...]</value>
    </init-param>
    For example, suppose that your application includes AdfFacesFilter filter in its web.xml:
    <filter>
    <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    You would then need to include the following class in your portlet.xml:
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
    </value>
    </init-param>
    Similarly, suppose that ADFBindingFilter filter is defined in web.xml as follows:
    <filter>
    <filter-name>adfBindings</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
    </filter>
    You would then need to include the following in your portlet.xml:
    <init-param>
    <name>BridgeLifecycleListeners</name>
    <value>oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.ADFFacesBridgeLifecycleListener,
    oracle.portlet.server.bridges.jsf.adf.BindingFacesBridgeLifecycleListener
    </value>

    Hello all, i am developing an web application have login and logout component. I want to check whenever end user try to open admin/index.xhtml, it will be redirected to login.xhtml. And when end user click on log out button, i will be destroy session and redirect end user to login.xhtml. But i am not sure about session in JSF 2.0. I am using netbean 6.9.1 to develop. First time, when i run my web application, i can get session back. But another time, i can't get session in my bean. Do i can use filter with JSF 2.0 to make a validate login user ? And any suggestion for my issue ? Thanks in advance!
    Here is my filter with doFilter method:
    RequestWrapper wrappedRequest = new RequestWrapper((HttpServletRequest) request);
    ResponseWrapper wrappedResponse = new ResponseWrapper((HttpServletResponse) response);
    if (wrappedRequest.getSession().getAttribute("isValidUser") != null) {
    chain.doFilter(request, response);
    } else {
    goPage(wrappedRequest, wrappedResponse, "/faces/enduser/index.xhtml");
    And here is my bean with login and log out method:
    public String validUser() {
    try {
    if (iAccBO != null) {
    Utilities utilities = new Utilities();
    Account account = new Account();
    account.setAccName(getAccName());
    account.setPassword(utilities.encode(getPassword()));
    if (iAccBO.validUser(account)) {
    setAccName("");
    setPassword("");
    return "/admin/index";
    } else {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    fc.addMessage(null, new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, "invalid username or password", ""));
    return "login";
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    Logger.getLogger(AccountBean.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    return null;
    public String Logout() {
    try {
    servletRequest.getSession().invalidate();
    return "../login";
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    return "";
    Best Regards,
    Coy.

    Are you sure you deployed the war files cleanly?
