Uix passing page's view object as a parm to another page
I want to pass a VO used on one uix page for use as the view object on another page. I'm using 9.0.5.2 and bc4j. I'm trying code as follows:
<bc4j:registryDef>
<bc4j:rootAppModuleDef name="SmGoalsViewAppModule"
definition="smart.Smartbc4jModule"
releaseMode="stateful" >
<bc4j:viewObjectDef name="${uix.pageProp.goalViewObject}">
<bc4j:rowDef name="RowGoalViewObject" autoCreate="false" >
<bc4j:propertyKey name="key" />
</bc4j:rowDef>
</bc4j:viewObjectDef>
</bc4j:rootAppModuleDef>
</bc4j:registryDef>This does not work. It appears the Expression Language statement, ${uix.pageProp.goalViewObject}, does not get parsed at this point in the UIX page.
Is there another way to do this?
Thanks, Steve
Steve,
Sorry, I'm not sure how to do this. Anybody else have experience with this?

ADF Passing Parameter to View Object
I created a view object that has, as part of it's where clause, ":1 = field". :1 can also be replaced with ?. I added this Object to my AppModule and was wondering how to bind that value from a "web tier" object. (I'm new to the "whizzy wig" development, maybe this isn't possible) thanks for any help

Java access to view objects from uix page provider
I have a java method called from a uix page as follows:
<dataScope>
<provider>
<data name="frameworkTableData">
<method class="smart.FrameworkAspects"
method="getFrameworkStudyAspects"/>
</data>
</provider>
I want the java program to be able to access the bc4j view objects defined on the page. These are:
<bc4j:registryDef>
<bc4j:rootAppModuleDef name="SmAspectsBrowseAppModule"
definition="smart.Smartbc4jModule"
releaseMode="stateful" >
<bc4j:viewObjectDef name="SmFrameworksBrowse"
rangeSize="0" />
<bc4j:viewObjectDef name="SmAspectsBrowse"
rangeSize="10" />
<bc4j:viewObjectDef name="SmStudyMembersAspectsEdit" />
</bc4j:rootAppModuleDef>
</bc4j:registryDef>
I've read through several of the threads on using Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef, config) and it is not clear what it is looking for in the arguments. It appears that "config" is the name of the app module. I don't know what the amDef relates to.
Anyway, I can't get it to work. All I'm trying to do is get at 3 view objects I have defined in my bc4j section and am having trouble getting this to work.
Any ideas on how to approch this would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Steve
Does anyoneCan you explain how you solved the problem? I have the same. Thanks.

Uix two view-objects on one entity-object synchronize
Hi All
I want to add some uix pages to an old project using ADF UIX and Business Components.
I have an entity object to a table witch about 50 fields.
Now I create two view objects due to a better performance. One witch seven attributes for the overwiew and one with all attributes for the detail page.
They are related via a view link.
I create the overview as a read-only-table and the detail-page as an input-form.
The proplem is that the synchronization don't work. The detail page shows the first dataset ever.
Has anyone a solution or a tip where I can found that?
Is where a performance problem if I use one view-object for both pages?
Thanks in advance
RogerUse custom DataAction for the first page:
package controller;
import oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataAction;
import oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionContext;
public class Class1 extends DataAction
protected void validateModelUpdates(DataActionContext actionContext)
//super.validateModelUpdates(actionContext);
// put you custom validation here
}http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/ADFBindingPrimer/index.html#usingdataaction

How to filter View Objects on Main Page - Unbounded Task Flow
Hi All,
Version: 11.1.1.4
I have a scenario where I am trying to filter the Employee information by EmployeeID and show their related Items. I can do this if I encapsulate Employee and / or Items in bounded task flows and expose their view Criteria in methods that I am setting on the App Module. I could also add the bind variable to the View Object queries. The problem I am having is that I want to display a pop up based on the item they select. My issue is that I can't seem to figure out how to either grab the item row selected and pass it to the pop up (Can't create a control flow from a page fragment to a page - which as far as I can understand the pop up in the task flow has to be a page and not a page fragment) or drop the employee view object and item view object on the main page and have them be filtered.
So basically two issues:
1. If I use the Employee and Item bounded task flows and place them as regions on the main page then I am having difficulties passing the row selection (item selected) and pass it to my pop up window (another task flow).
2. If I place the employee and item view objects on my main page the original methods I am using to filter the data are not getting called at all. I have tried placing them in the adf-config task flow prior to my main page view and going into my main page page def and adding them as method calls in the binding.
I am sure I am doing something wrong or maybe even creating an invalid approach, but I should be able to filter my employee and item data on load within my unbounded task flow or use the data within my bounded task flows and generate a popup with data I am collecting from my item row.
As always greatly appreciate the feedback....still really ignorant with ADF.
--SI figured out the issue Shay. I didn't have my pageFlowScope value set on the task-flow-call. So I had the parameter name and value set on the input of my downstream bounded task flow, but when I add the control to call the task flow I didn't have the task-flow call value set. That piece was not intuitive to me. It makes sense that it would have to know how to pass the value.....just wasn't sure where it should be set.

Iterating through master view objects and child view objects in same page
I am working on a project using ADF UIX and Business Components.
I have an application module with two view objects one the master view object and the second the detail object. They are related via a view link.
I would like to iterate through the master view objects displaying a customer name as bold text and then below each customer name I'd like to display the detail records in a table via the detail view object i.e. a seprate table for each customer.
Is this possible - I haven't had much luck!?
Thanks in advance.That's because
$(".ms-vb2 a").
is bringing back all the pieces that have that class with an anchor on the whole page, not just the ones in the .ms-wpContentDivSpace
I don't know the exact syntax, but I think you need to iterate through all the '.ms_vb2 a' items as well - there are multiple ones, and do something like this inside your other grouping
$(".ms-vb2 a").each(function(index) {
var val=$(this).html();
var val2=val.replace(/_/g," ")
$(this).html(val2);
That's not quite right but maybe that will help.

Passing an argument in the SQL Query of a View Object
Hi,
It is possible that this question has been asked before, however I have searched for a half an hour in the forums and couldn't find a solution.
I am also new to using JDeveloper and ADF. Here's the situation:
I am developing an application that doesn't have to do anything else then displaying data from a database. Pretty straightforward actually.
Now I have made a vew pages with several collapsible panels (af:showDetailHeader) and have setup the datasources (or so I thought).
All that remains is:
- drag & drop a view object, from the application module that I created, onto the collabsible panels, so a child element gets created which displays data from the database.
- hack the layout so it looks like I want it to.
The problem that I have is the following:
I am using a 'User'-class that contains values I need when quering the database.
That User-object is part of a user-session.
What I want, for example, is to use the 'getPersonId()' function of that User-object and pass the argument to a SQL-query of a certain view-object.
The query would become something like:
'SELECT * FROM people WHERE people.personId = :someNumber'.
Now I've read some stuff about variable binding, which is complemented by something like (backing bean code):
getDBTransaction().getRootApplicationModule().getACertainViewObject().setWhereClauseParameter(1, user.getPersonId());
The examples I have found that might match my wishes are not using business components, but EJB's. I am having difficulty with understanding the 'how'-part of variable binding.
Also, I do not know enough of ADF to be able to create a situation like:
'User loads page, collapsible panel 1 is fully shown, the others are undisclosed.'
(meaning, that for panel1 a query has been executed.)
'User clicks on collapsible panel 2 which triggers a backingbean that somehow retrieves data from a view object'.
I would appreciate any help that somebody can give.
If it is not too much of a problem, please provide code snippets in case you have a solution. I am new to ADF :(.
-edit
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 in case that is of any importance.

Hugo BoogHello Stijn,
I didn't think about a referenced bean rule in the faces-config.
I added it right away and I am now able to set parameters of a View-object, not using a page button and before the page loads. You made my day!
In case anyone ever reads this post again, the summary of how to generate a table based on a View-object using dynamic parameters.:
1a: Go to faces-config.xml -> Overview tab'
1b: Go to the menuitem "Referenced Beans"
1c: Click on 'new' and select the existing bean you want to access data from and input a name. In this example I use name="user"
2: Create a View-object using the wizard.
2a: Specify the query you want in the menuitem 'SQL Statement'.
Add the 'parameters' you want to. You will have something like:
"SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE table.columnname LIKE :someArgument".
- hint: if you want the result to become something like:
"SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE table.columnname LIKE '%someArgument%'" then you have to add the '%'-characters in your code itself (read: someClass.setParameter("%" + someArgument);).
2b: In the menuitem 'Bind Variables' you have to add the variables you are referring to in the query. If you look at the query in 2a, then you have to add a variable with name "someArgument".
2c: Add the View-object to a Application Module (create one if nessecairy).
3a: Open a .jsp(x) file. Drag the View-object created in step 2 from the 'Data Controls'-pane to the page.
3b: Click on the '+' of the View-object in the 'Data Controls'-pane and open 'Operations' and drag 'ExecuteWithParams' to your page as a button.
3c: We do not want to use a button, the action has to be executed immediatly. So In the page source remove the lines that were created after dropping 'ExecuteWithParams'.
3d: Right-click on the page and select "Go to Page Definition".
3e: Go to the action id that is called 'ExecuteWithParams#', where # is a number.
Change the id to something useful.
3f: Change the NDValue so it corresponds with the value you want.
Example:
<action id="getAddressData" IterBinding="AddressesView1Iterator"
InstanceName="MyHRServiceModuleDataControl.AddressView1"
DataControl="MyHRServiceModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="95">
<NamedData NDName="someArgument" NDType="java.lang.String"
NDValue="#{user.personId}"/>
</action>
Note: It is possible to use the value of a Backing Bean in NDValue.
Note 2: user is the bean I referred to in the faces-config.xml!
3g: Under the executables item, add an 'invokeAction' to pass the parameter to the View-object before your JSP-file loads:
<executables>
<invokeAction Binds="getAddressData"
id="loadAddressDataOfPersonIdInSession"
Refresh="prepareModel"/>
Thank Stijn Haus for this :) -
Pass parameter from jsf to view object query
Hi,
i have requirement where user id is captured when user logs in in a session bean.How do I pass this parameter to bind variable in query?
thanks,
MatAmit's second link : Setting bind variable for a view object
should hold answers for you.
Ypu can also visit : http://groundside.com/blog/DuncanMills.php?title=adf_executing_code_on_page_entry_1_servi&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
The general idea is this :
Get the username (you mentioned portal, so after portal authenticates the user is the username available in a session scoped managed bean ? You would need to access this somehow because your query needs it., preferrably by EL)
create am AM method to set the bind parameter to the Vo and execute it. The method is automatically exposed to the DataControl.
Create a method binding in your page def for the method. in the parameters for the method, use the EL to get the username, eg: #{sessionScope.frameworkBean.username} (you could also create a binding for executeWithParams, but I hav'nt done this in a while and dont remember the exact process )
Now create an executable for the method binding you created. (the executable ensure that this method is called at pageload, and set you refresh condition appropriately)
Go to the properties

View object reexecutes when any event is fired on a page
Hi All,
I have following requirement
Create a page which containts a table.
Table has 2 fields one is Employee number LOV and second is emp name field which is read only.
One view object is associated with this table.
This view object has two transient attributes one is EmpId which is of type number and second is name which is of type string.
View object does not have any query.
when you enter any no in lov field,it goes to lov region and populates the respective emplyee details in the LOV region, when user selects any employee,it comes back to main page and shows Employee no and emp name in first row of a table.
I have allowed the user to enter as many rows as he wants into the table.
for that i have created Add another row button using footer property of table.
but the problem is When i click Add another row button,row is added it to table but emp name which i have selected from LOV had lost.
i know the reason is when i click Add another row button VO executes query again and my value has lost.
i want to know that is there any way to prevent reexecution of view object query?
Regards
HiteshHitesh,
Mukul, i can put my own Add another row button and do cusom code,but what about other events?
Yes, see dev guide and old threads. It has been explained in dev guide claerly and have also replied this in old threads.--Mukul -
Problem in ADF Tree When I use 2 Tree in a Page with same View Object !
Hi everybody,
I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.5 and ADF Faces in UI . I have 2 tree in a page that they are from same Updatable View Object but diffrent instances in application module . When I change an attribute value from one of them in manage Bean programmatically , both of them change??!! in my case I put a checkbox in nodeStamp, when user click on checkbox, title of row must change but title in both of them change?????
I think it is a bug.
please help me. Thanks>
so what is diffrent to use same view object instances in page or multiple instances when we need ??
>
Actually, this depends on your use case. suppose you have a view object with a bind variable, and you want to display to tables on the same page but with different query result depending on the bind variable, in this case you have to create two view instances.
