Unable to connect / SQLState=01000

New install of
SQL*Plus 8.1.7.0.0
and
Oracle 8i ODBC Driver 8.1.7.2.0
It works on my personal machine,
but on the production machine,
I get following error
------- verbatim of error ---
Unable to connect
SQLState=01000
The driver returned invalid (or
failed to return)
SQL_DRIVER_ODBC_VER: 03.51
-------- end verbatim
null

Install an updated version of the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) from Microsoft @ <http://www.microsoft.com/data>. The version of the ODBC Driver Manager on the failing machine isn't aware that ODBC 3.51 is a valid version of the protocol.

    Hi Sir/Madam,
    I am Wayne, I need your help to resolve my issue in oracle database 11g.
    1. I installed Oracle 11g Personal Edition, Release 11.2.0.10, 64bits,
    2. Test connection(oracle in oradb11g_home1) is successed in data source, odbc,
    2. Then, I tried to connect this with Visual Basic(Visual Studio 2010), data connections, add connections, .net framework data provider for oracle,
    3. but I received an error message as "Attempt to load Oracle client libraries threw BadImageFormatException."
    4. Then, I download the ODAC(11.2.0.3.0) for 64bits, and installed,
    5. I tried to test the connection, but failed with error message as stated above,
    "Unable to connect SQLState=08004 Oracle ODBC Ora-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified"
    Could you please give me a help on this, do I need to install ODAC for 11g Personal Edition ? Please advice accordingly, thanks.

  • Unabel to connect SQLState=IM001

    Hi all,
    I am trying to connect to the server throught the Oracle client 9.2.0.1
    I get the following error message
    Unable to connect
    SqlState=IM001
    *[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver does not support this Function.*
    I copied the 9.2.0.2 ODBC diver and also the .dll files from bin to the Oracle client folder 9.2.0.1 which did not have the ODBC folder in it.
    But I dont know where I am going wrong.
    Thank You,

    Download Oracles "instant client" or "SQLDeveloper", both are free.

  • Unable to connect

    Hi.
    I have a Oracle 10g client on my PC and Visual Studio 2005 and saw the free download of the Oracle Developer Tools (ODTwithODAC10202.exe).
    After installing the package I get an error when I try and connect to my Oracle database server (which is NOT installed locally).
    The error is:
    Unable to connect
    SQLState=IM004
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed
    and I can press OK.
    I've checked my TNSNAMES file if my old entry was still there and it was.

    I uninstalled the program and now everything works great.
    BTW. It seems that the installer installs the Oracle stuff in a wrong directory compared to where my already installed Oracle files are placed.
    Like this:
    C:\Oracle\10.2.0\client_1
    C:\Oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1
    I'm left with both dirs as I can't remember which is the right one. Also I'm affraid to let the installed overwrite my existing installation.
    But it's probably related to this...

  • Unable to Connect, ORA 12154, Setup routine for Microsoft ODBC errors

    Hi all,
    I have a Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1 system and I wanted to be able to connect to an oracle database server. However, I am facing a problem with ODBC configuration.
    I have currently installed both below in ... product\11.2.0\client_1 folder:
    1. Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
    2. 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
    I launched ODBC Data Source Administrator and added a User DSN but resulted to two errors:
    1. The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for oracle ODBC driver could not be found. Please reintall the driver.
    2. The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application.
    On top of that, if I go to System DSN tab, and tried to test the connection it give me an error:
    1. Unable to connect SQLState = 08004 [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolved the identifier specified.
    Can someone please guide me through this? Thanks in advance!

    2. 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
    You only need one of these (the second one should suffice).
    I launched ODBC Data Source Administrator and added a User DSN but resulted to two errors:
    1. The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for oracle ODBC driver could not be found. Please reintall the driver."Microsoft ODBC for Oracle" is a different provider than "Oracle ODBC". Make sure you're not using the Microsoft one.
    2. The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application.This can happen if you're mixing 32-bit and 64-bit. There's two ODBC control panels in Windows 7:
    - the 64 bit one is the one in control panel
    - the 32 bit one is c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe
    Since you're using a 64 bit Oracle driver, you should be using the 64 bit ODBC administrator, and 64 bit applications. If you're trying to use this ODBC connection with a 32 bit application, you'll need to use the 32 bit ODBC (and the 32 bit Oracle driver).
    On top of that, if I go to System DSN tab, and tried to test the connection it give me an error:
    1. Unable to connect SQLState = 08004 [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolved the identifier specified.Well that actually means it's loading Oracle correctly, so that's something. You need to add an entry for the server you want to connect to into tnsnames.ora, located in the \network\admin folder inside of your Oracle client installation. Since it sounds like someone else set up the server you want to connect to, your DBA should be able to provide the information that goes into the file.

    Help,
    setup a new sql server 2012 on a windows 2012r2 server to replace old sql server 2005 on an old windows server 2003 machine.  When i test the ODBC connection locally on the server it works fine, however when i try to connect via windows 7 client machine
    i get the following error:

    I think it must be a permissions thing, I've turned off the firewall for now and still no difference, 've also made sure remote connection is enabled.  I can connect to the other sql server in studio manager on the new machine however, i can't go do
    the same in the old server, says:
    cannot connect to hbfsqlpro1\hbfsqlpro1

    the instance is def correct, as that is what i use to connect locally on the new machine and what it comes up on the studio manager on the new machine.  STarting to pull my hair out somewhat, i'm sure it's something really simple!

    Hello,
    You are trying to connect to a named instance. Make sure the SQL Server Browser service is started on the SQL Server computer.
    Make sure TCP/IP is enabled.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191294(v=sql.110).aspx
    Try to disable Windows Firewall or security software on both, SQL Server instance and client computer.
    Test basic connectivity too. Try to ping from the client computer to the SQL Server computer.
    Hope this helps.

    Any ideas how to fix the problem?

    Dear all,
    the encryption was NO on all protocols.
    Because no additional ideas available, i uninstalled the SQL Server on friday.
    At the Re-Install Process i got again an error:
    [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Shared Memory Provider: No process is on the
    other end of the pipe .
    The install process failed.
    On google i found the same problem in an other thread:
    http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sqlserver.connect/browse_thread/thread/dbec4a9a271f69a6/7cd22694da3a6062?lnk=st&q=%22Shared+Memory+Provider%3A+No+process+is+on+the+other+end+of+the+pipe%22&rnum=2&hl=en#7cd22694da3a6062
    ++++++
    During the installation process of SQL Server 2005, Setup complains it cannot
    connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was:
    [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Shared Memory Provider: No process is on the
    other end of the pipe .
    I have checked that the pipe exists (\\.\pipe\SQLLocal\MyInstance), but
    everytime the installer attempts the connecting the pipe is closed by the
    server and another is reopened. That's why the Client says there is no
    process on the other end of the pipe.
    I have re-installed 'everything', tried connections via TCP, but nothing
    works.
    I have made a small application to connect to the pipe and noticed that
    there are 3 instances of the pipe running, one that I am connecting to, and 2
    listening pipes. If I write to 'my' pipe SQL server disconnects the pipe and
    reopens another too. The difference is that SQL server writes an error
    message in the log file. No such luck when the Native client is doing the
    same.
    What more can I do?
    ++++++
    and an answer
    ++++++
    I finaly found the problem to be the certificate used.
    I noticed that a certificate was added to the machinekeys just recently.
    (in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys)
    I renamed it to another name and re-installed sql server.
    I noticed that sql server ERRORLOG complained about certificate that it
    couldn't load and the generation of a self-generaed certificate (see below)
    "2005-12-10 21:01:02.30 Server      The server could not load the
    certificate it needs to initiate an SSL connection. It returned the following
    error: 0x8009030d. Check certificates to make sure they are valid.
    2005-12-10 21:01:02.49 Server      A self-generated certificate was
    successfully loaded for encryption."
    Now the installation succeeded
    ++++++
    With Windows 2008 it was really a challange to get access to this folder (!!!)
    After clearing the folder the ReInstall of SQL Server works fine.
    Now the SQL Server & the SQL Server Agent works again.
    The problem was anything with encryption, old certs & files.
    I don't think that everyone can afford reinstalling SQL server.
    I finaly found the problem to be the certificate used.
    I noticed that a certificate was added to the machinekeys just recently.
    (in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application

    I think this is what the following blog was saying , a problem with certification

  • Linked Server unable to Connect in SQL Server 2012 after Restarting SQL Server Service it works fine. Why?

    I have created a Linked Server to Access Database of 64 MB in Size located in Remote System to SQL Server 2012.In Start for Some time it works fine and after it is giving the Error
    OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "LANDLINE_TEST" returned message "Cannot open a database created with a previous version of your application.".
    Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Procedure Insert_Records_Into_Actual_Calls_History, Line 29
    Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "LANDLINE_TEST".
    Previously I thought it as Permission Issue. By trying some fixes proposed in forums it not fixed. But, after restarting the SQL Server Services without changes to the linked Server it works perfectly. How could i fix it. I don't want restart the SQL Server
    Service it leads to Some other process failures.
    RehaanKhan. M

    After all the Errors, When I am restarting the SQL Server its working correctly.
    Whats the problem it is clearing itself after restarting of SQL Server. Why ?. I can't find anything regarding this in SQL Server .
    The following are the Errors i got connecting to SQl Server.
    OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "LANDLINE_TEST" returned message "Cannot open a database created with a previous version of your application.".
    Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Procedure Insert_Records_Into_Actual_Calls_History, Line 29
    Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "LANDLINE_TEST".

    Cannot obtain the required interface ("IID_IDBCreateCommand") from OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "LANDLINE_TEST".
    for to fix above error i have followed the instructions in the following link,
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataaccesstechnologies/archive/2010/08/19/permissions-needed-to-set-up-linked-server-with-out-of-process-provider.aspx
    This also failed to work. I Restarted SQL Server and make the Linked Server Properties Default to my Configuration and it works fine.
    Can you suggest me a solution for this issue. Every time i don't want to restart SQL Server Services as it effects other jobs and Processes.
    Thank you.

  • Unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver

    I am unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver vers.2.573.4202.00 on a Win98 computer.
    First, I create a "Net Service Name" in order for the ODBC Driver to find the Oracle server. I then created a System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator and assigned the "Net Server Name" as the server in the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup". But when I test this DSN with Oracle's provided "Oracle ODBC 32Bit Test vers.2.5.3.1.0" I get an error:
    SQLSTATE: NA000
    Native Error Code:0
    Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
    This error occurred on all three Win98 computers I have tried. It does however, seem to work fine on WinNT 4.0, and believe it or not, on the two Win95 computers I have tried.
    Does anyone have any fixes, recomendations, or advice?
    Thank you,
    Eric Edwards

    Why are yu not using the Oracle ODBC driver - these can be downloaded from OTN.
    Have you set up a tnsnames.ora entry for the Oracle database you want to connect to? Does this name have a domain name added to it? Check %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora for the service name. If it is a name of the form :
    name.domain.subdomain
    then you should try using this full name when configuring the ODBC data source.

    Hi Nagpal,
    Just thinking if you can try to Reparing the Native Client setup and see if it works.
    Also if SQL Server Agent account is a domain account (and not as of SQL Server Engine) then try to check if it has below permissions (via Local Policies of the server)  also does it has Local Machine Admin permission:
    Act as part of the operating system
    Adjust memory quotas for a process
    Bypass traverse checking
    Log on as a batch job
    Log on as a service
    Replace a process level token

    Does anyone have any ideas why a reboot would cause permissions to be lost?

    Thanks

    Noooo! Actually I too had d same prob wit my iPhone 4S. When I connect to my wifi network it won't get connected or it wil be grey scaled! I took it to d istore and since I had warranty they replaced my IPhone. It iPad charger has high volt than ur iPhone charger so when u connect wit it, there is a chance where large amount of current passes thru ur iPhone. So for sure it wil damage ur motherboard and its parts! Many said that iOS 6 or 6.0.1 or 6.1 was d reason for tis wifi prob! But apple never made its mistake wit it's software. If and only if u hav hardware prob u wil hav these sort of wifi prob Bluetooth prob! So best way s to replace ur iPhone!

  • Published pdf form is unable to connect with database

    Hi Guys!
    I have created a PDF form using Adobe Live Cycle Designer which have some text fields namely RECORD and NAME. I have connected this form with a Database. When I enter a record in the RECORD number field the NAME field of this form has been populated with the help of XFA Script which is written on the exit event of the RECORD text field. When we publish this form, a new interactive PDF is created which works fine and populates the NAME field from the an SQL database but when I access this PDF form (which is located on a shared location) from some another location (not on the same machine where i designed this form) it is unable to connect to the database and does not work as expected.
    I think there is some thing i am missing for the database connectivity.
    If any body on this forum can help me out.
    thanks
    Here is the Script for the above form which i used to populate the NAME FIELD on the basis of enetered RECORD number.
    ----- Document.Page1.txt_MRN::exit: - (JavaScript, client) -----------------------------------------
    /* This dropdown list object will populate two columns with data from a data connection.
    sDataConnectionName - name of the data connection to get the data from.  Note the data connection will appear in the Data View.
    sColHiddenValue  - this is the hidden value column of the dropdown.  Specify the table column name used for populating.
    sColDisplayText  - this is the display text column of the dropdown.  Specify the table column name used for populating.
    These variables must be assigned for this script to run correctly.  Replace <value> with the correct value.
    var sDataConnectionName = "DataSource";  // example - var sDataConnectionName = "MyDataConnection";
    var sColHiddenValue  = "RecordNum";   // example - var sColHiddenValue = "MyIndexValue";
    var sColDisplayText  = "Name";   // example - var sColDisplayText = "MyDescription"
    // Search for sourceSet node which matchs the DataConnection name
    var nIndex = 0;
    while(xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex).name != sDataConnectionName)
    nIndex++;
    //var oDB = xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex);
    var oDB = xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex).clone(1);
    oDB.open();
    oDB.first();
    // Search node with the class name "command"
    var nDBIndex = 0;
    while(oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).className != "command")
    nDBIndex++;
    // Backup the original settings before assigning BOF and EOF to stay
    var sBOFBackup = oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.getAttribute("bofAction");
    var sEOFBackup = oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.getAttribute("eofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute("stayBOF", "bofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute("stayEOF", "eofAction");
    // Clear the list
    this.clearItems();
    // Search for the record node with the matching Data Connection name
    nIndex = 0;
    while(xfa.record.nodes.item(nIndex).name != sDataConnectionName)
    nIndex++;
    var oRecord = xfa.record.nodes.item(nIndex);
    // Find the value node
    var oValueNode   = null;
    var oTextNode   =  null;
    var sRecordNum  =  $.rawValue;
    for(var nColIndex = 0; nColIndex < oRecord.nodes.length; nColIndex++)
    if(oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex).name == sColHiddenValue)
      oValueNode = oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex);
    else if(oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex).name == sColDisplayText)
      oTextNode = oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex);
    var found= 0;
    while(!oDB.isEOF())
    if (oValueNode.value== sRecordNum)
      txt_FirstName.rawValue = oTextNode.value;
      txt_LastName.rawValue = oTextNode.value;
      found = 1;
      break;
      //this.addItem(oTextNode.value, oValueNode.value);
       oDB.next();
       if (found == 0)
        txt_FirstName.rawValue = "";
        txt_LastName.rawValue = "";
    // Restore the original settings
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute(sBOFBackup, "bofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute(sEOFBackup, "eofAction");
    // Close connection
    oDB.close();

    Finally achived the database connectivity for the published pdf form developed in the Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0.
    There must be the same driver version of the DSN on both machines. The machine which published the form and the one accessing it.
    Use the Admin account to add the DSN on both machines.
    Get rid of the error: Connection for Source "DataConnectionName" failed because the environment is not trusted.
    Thanks
