Unable to create auxiliary instance for duplication

Hi Forum,
I'm struggling with a problem:
I'm running a 10g database (10.2) on Windows 2003 server (same problem on Windows XP, though) and plan to duplicate the database to the same server, into the same OraHome. I'm logged on as the local administrator and I'm a member or ORA_DBA user group on that machine.
As I want to duplicate to the same machine / Ora home I need to create a new Oracle_SID (testdb in my example).
I added the new Database SID to the listener.ora file using the NetManager and used SID as opposed to SERVICE_NAME to reference the new database because no service for that new database exists.
I also added an entry to TNSNAMES.ora, although I guess that this is not required for the process.
I have a password file for the existing database but not for the new database. This to me seemed to be correct as I want to log on using OS-credentials.
Next, I want to start the instance in NOMOUNT mode. To achieve that, I fire up a command line and write:
set oracle_sid=testdb
sqlplus /nologsql> connect / as sysdba
sql> ERROR:
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
What am I missing?

This Windows service is needed to allow automatic database startup/shutdown controlled by the OS. It's a kind of a shell, in which Oracle maintains all database activities on windows, in fact executable 'oracle.exe' is invoked. When you stop this service, database is also shutdown, but the opposite is not true. It is mandatory to have the service running, otherwise you see ORA-12560, a little bit misleading error message.

Go
to the bottom of the file
Uncomment

I've got the exact same problem when launching to JDeveloper.
And I've searched on internet for days.
I did try to modify the number of
MaxPermSize in jdev.conf
and
Xmx and Xms in ide.conf
I've tried several combinations, and sometimes it works.
The disappoint fact is that even with the same combination of the settings, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it just work. Sometimes it doesn't...and after rebooting it works again......Sometimes even rebooting doesn't help.......Sometimes when change MaxPermSize to a smaller number it works...and next time it may not work again....Sometimes you change the MaxPermSize to some other number, save, and then change it back,,,,and it works again...but next time you try to use it, it may not work..........
I don't know what leads to these problems.....anyone could help? Thanks in advance....

"OIP-04796 Unable to create object instance"

I am using OO4O, version 3 for Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows with Visual Basic version 6.
I am getting the intermittent errors "OIP-04796 Unable to create object instance" and also "Method createDynaset of _IOraDatabase failed" - I think both are related to one another and from the documentation for OO4O, "OIP-04796" relates to the client side object cache of the OraDatabase class. Reasoning that the client side object cache was too small I attempted to increase the relevant properties of the OraDatabase object using the following: -
MyOraDatabaseObj.CacheOptimalSize = 400
However, at run-time, this property of the OraDatabase object does not get set accordingly in the VB IDE and after several attempts I can't seem to set it. I have also tried setting the CacheMaximumSize property but to no avail.
Can anybody indicate to me where I am going wrong and either with the setting of the above properties or with the error message in general if I am not on the right track with the cache properties. I don't suspect that it is my code because the problem "seems" to be intermittent.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If more info is required then just ask as this is pressing problem.

I am pretty sure the patches are available here. If you didn't explicitly install one then you have whatever the base release was.
If they are not available here (I almost never look here first for a patch) they are certainly available in the MetaLink file library for OO4O.

All Im very new to Oracle DRM and Im trying to get the app setup on Windows server running SQL Server 2008. When I try to login to the Web Client I keep getting this error.

This might be due to The 'Oracle Instance' path may not have been set to a path relative to the 'CSS Bridge Host' (i.e. the Foundation Services machine) on the Configuration > Host Machines > CSS > General tab of the DRM Configuration Utility.
if this is the case then
1. Open the DRM Configuration Console.
2. Go to the Configuration > Host Machines > CSS > General tab of the DRM Configuration Utility.
3. Ensure that the path in 'Oracle Instance' has been set relative to the 'CSS Bridge Host' (i.e. the Foundation Services machine defined in 'CSS Bridge Host').
4. If corrections are made to 'Oracle Instance' then restart the DRM services to pick up the change.

Unable to instantive live instance for panelBinding; using placeholder inst

I have an ADF panel with an edit form on it.
If I start JDev, it shows the following message in a "UI" log window:
"Unable to instantive live instance for panelBinding; using placeholder instead."
and there is no UI control displayed on the panel.
However a run panel action fixes the problem.
It is not a major issue.

I also (sometimes) get the "Unable to instantiate live instance for panelBinding; using placeholder object instead." message in the UI Log panel.
Is there documentation about this message, when I occurs? (I haven't been able to consistently reproduce this.)
If I run JDeveloper (10.1.3.1.0.3984) using "jdev.exe" I don't see related messages on the console.
We also have an issue with component bindings getting created in a new SomePanelPageDef.xml file while one existed and we end up with both SomePanelUIModel and SomePanelPageDef as pageDefinitionUsages in DataBindings.cpx and of course the panel doesn't work. I think these issues could be related.
Any suggestions or documentation? (And yes "the compiled class is present in the classpath".)

Unable to create an instance JVM - Antivirus

I have problem with antivirus scanning of JVM files. Message 'Unable to create an instance ...' appears only when AV is running. PC admins do not permit disabling of scan jre files.
By AV log file, there is big time delay on full jre scanning. Exists any settings to increase time to wait for JVM start?

I had a similar issue, so I killed some parts of AV in the registry. There isn't really anything that we (the forum users) can do except to tell you to raise this again at your company. Many policies can be altered if the policy breaks software, and this should be the case. However, you may need to be quite persistent to accomplish it.

I have downloaded sqldeveloper-3.1.07.42 and extracted it.
when i double click sqldeveloper it shows dialog box

i have tried a solution posted on a site
1- Open the ide.conf file located under <Oracle SQL Developer>jdev\bin\
2- Edit :

AddVMOption -Xmx256M or 512 MB change into 512 instead of 1024
it does not work for me
What is the cause & how to resolve it please help

problem like many people else who use JDeveloper.
The OS is Windows XP, I've got 4G memory but maybe just 3G of it works.

NEW REPOSITORY INSTALLATION ERROR!!
I want to install a new Repository using Oracle9iR9.2.0.1 and iDS10g on windowsXP Professional the same machine.
After running all the SQL scripts ( ckqa,ckvalqa,ckcreate,ckreport) with success to installing a new Repository on my Database using "the Scripts Method",I start the Repository Administration Utility( RAU) to scheck the priveleges and so on.
After pressing the Install button in the RAU:
-I take public synonyms
-I scheck the box for "Support Designer Objects", then
-The Repository size is Medium
-I have not change the defauft Tablespace of the Repository_Manager names TEMPORARY_TABLES to store the index and table of System Data....Diagram Data.
After Starting, the Installation began an stop by installing some Tables like schown :

When I read the Help of the Error the
CAUSE was: Failed to find sufficient contiguous Space to allocate INITIAL extend for Segment being created.
ACTION: Use ALTER TABLESPACE ADD DATAFILE to add additional space to the tablespace or retry with a smaller Value for initial.
I then try to resolve it by schecking and changing the Values of INITIAL_VALUE and NEXT_VALUE in the ckparams.txt to 500k.I change the Values of TEMPORARY_TABLES(10214 to 51200k) and TEMPORARY_INDEXES from (20000 to 100000k).Then I run the scripts @ckparams.txt, @ckvalqa, @ckcreate but
-pressing the Scheck Privileges Button on the RAU still give me 106k for the INITIAL_ and NEXT_VALUE.
-And the installato still stop with the same Error.
Question: How schould I resolve this Configuration?

You are running into database errors. You should refer to the database documentation on how to adjust the size your tablespaces. The online Designer installation guide will advise you as to the sizes of tablespaces you require. Unable to create a 'Z' for se16 transaction

Hi everyone,
we have a requirement where we are unable to create a Z for transaction SE16.
I went to se93 and checked it was a function pool so i went to SE80 to make a copy of standard function group SETB to ZSETB.
it made a copy of it anf I copied all the FM's and made a Z of those.
Once it is done. When I activate it it give a lot of errors , I have checked it and made sure that it is copying entire Function Group but all are fine.
My system is ECC6.0, earlier we had ZE16 which is a replica of SE16 and this had a lot of problem like ending in dumps , so we thought we would make a new Z transaction for SE16, but we get many error.
Please try it out once in ur system before U suggest me a change to be made.

It is always best to minimize such issues by making a copy of programs or function modules where changes are needed to add new functionality. Also this would ensure any patches/notes added in future would have minimum impact on your clones.

I am implementing sales from Factory. I am unable to creat accounting document for my Outgoing excise invoice. When I click the Utilization button, The excise invoice type is selected Deemed.
1. How to control which Which Excise invoice type should be selected in J1IIN.
2. For Deemed exports will system not genererate Accounting document for Excise Invoice?
3. Where to view the excise invoice document types (Like Billing and order types)

For deemed export sales,
-Accounting documents will not get generated. (ref: Excise Acct Determination in CIN settings, you will not find Excise Tranraction type:ARE3 for which G/L account will not be assigned)
-Excise Invoice type will be automatically triggered based on configuration : Excise Group / Series Group detetermination.
- For Deemed Exports , only Quantity will get updated in RG1, but not the value. thats the reason, accounting document will not get generated.
- This excise invoice is created, for - to update the RG1 registry / ARE3 creation.
