Unable to insert or update lookup field

Tools: JDeveloper 9.0.3.1 using JHeadstart 9.0.4 (struts).
On a form page I have created a lookup item. Both the lookupValueAttribute and the lookupDisplayAttribute
are included in the viewObject. Selecting an item from the LOV works as can be expected. However when I
submit the form, the message "JBO-27008: Attribute set for <lookupDisplayAttribute> in view object
<EntityObjectName>_<AssociationName>_<ViewObjectName> failed" appears. When I perform an update by using
the bc4j module tester, I encounter no problems. What causes this JBO failure?

In our project (L@reb!) , we are using UIX. The base value attribute is included as a <formValue> in the UIX-page.

As I tested, you could use the action in workflow as below:
listAtitle is a lookup column in my test, just manually input number zero in "To this value".

your data value that needs to be update should be in this format "ID of the lookup";#"Title of the Lookup"
For example,

Unable to update a field using the Data tab on a VIEW

When viewing data using a VIEW instead of going to the table directly, am unable to change the values in any of the fields
When I click on the list of VIEWs for a schema, then select a view that is based on a SELECT statement for a single table with a Primary key, and then click on the DATA tab to modify the value in one of the fields, SQL Developer does not allow me to change the value.
Went into SQL Plus, and was able to execute an UPDATE statement against the same row of that VIEW, and update that field ("UPDATE vw_mytable SET thisfield = 'YES' WHEN row_id_number = 1'").
Does SQL Developer not allow updating tables through a VIEW?
Will it allow updating in the future? Please say yes.
Oracle 10g DB and latest version of SQL Developer.

Updating values dynamically in an user attribute which is lookup field

Hi All,
Can I have a pre process event handler to update the values in the lookup field on my create user page? I have two user attributes - one is the default organization and the other is a user created Country attribute. Both of these are Lookup fields. I want to update the country lookup field by checking what is selected in the organization lookup field. Is this possible in OIM?
Not sure if pre process event handler is the way to go but this is what I want to achieve. Can anybody guide me regarding the same?

OK, here's my shot at a walkthrough... let me know if I missed any steps.
1. From your original post, you are using two lookup fields. I'm use a base VM for testing, so I needed to create two. I went with City and State (I know they are OOB, but this is just an example).
- Created Lookup.Custom.City and Lookup.Custom.State Samples:

looks like you might be looking for a custom sequence manager.
you might want to consider using a trigger to do this.
unfortunately if you use just one trigger you will probably get a mutating exception.
so you may need to do a multiple trigger approach

Insertion / Update of field of type "TIME" using Native SQL

We are trying to perform inserts and updates within an ORACLE table where a TIME field exists without suscess. We are trying to code it using Native SQL.

I've not heard of an Oracle TIME datatype; we used to use the timestamp which is stored as part of the date or we set up a separate column to hold the time defined as CHAR. Still, it is possible that they have created such a thing since I last did SQL. In which case, there would have to be a function like TO_DATE which you would use to convert your time to its time format.
If you mean TIMESTAMP you can use something like the following to do the data conversion.
TO_TIMESTAMP(LOCALTIMESTAMP, 'DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF')

Updating detail record and getting multiple 'UNABLE TO INSERT RECORD' msgs

Help! We have 2 datablocks, master and detail block with relation defined. Master is defined with view based on database joins; detail is view based on table.
When I update the record in detail block, error message 'UNABLE TO INSERT RECORD' appears four times, then I get transaction complete: 5 records applied and saved, where the one record successfully updates. Why are we getting four records with insert errors and one record update? We don't want to work directly on the table, but why can't we use the view? please help.

The UNABLE TO INSERT record will be accompanied by more information if you press the Display Error key. Your form commit processing should stop when it gets an error like this, the fact that it doesn't implies that somewhere in your code you are not checking for FORM_SUCCESS before continuing doing something else.
This sounds quite involved, we would need to have more information about what records are queried and what's being changed on them to cause the commit.

Unable to update Caption field

Hello; Wondering if anybody else has seen this problem before...
I've spent the evening updating caption fields only to have Aperture display a "loading..." message over the photo and then return the previous caption field text. It's as if the Aperture database is fighting with a locked master file but, when I look at the masters in Finder they seem to be fine.
I've tried using the Batch Change tool to clear the caption fields. The fields are cleared for a few minutes until Aperture updates them again and restores the previous text. I've written text over the old text but, it doesn't remain. The old text will soon restore.
I've also tried writing the IPTC data to the master after updating the caption field but, that's not working either. I'm scratching my head on this one. I don't know what's going on. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link to the kb article. I started with Repair Permissions. When that didn't work I went with Repair Database. That solved 90% of my troubles and so I had to run Rebuild Database. I'm not at 100% but, I'd consider a 99% fix close enough. Thanks for your help.

Passing Multiple Selected List Items to a "New Item" Form in Another List with Multiselect Lookup Field

Version Info: SharePoint 2013 Server Standard (*BTW...I do not have access to Visual Studio*)
I have two lists, let's call them
-Assets
-Asset Checkouts
"Assets" is the parent list, and "Asset Checkouts" has a lookup column (multiselect) which is tied to the serial # column in the "Assets" list.
Basically, what I need to accomplish is this: I would like to be able to select multiple list items in the "Assets" list, and create a new item in "Asset Checkouts", and pre-fill the multiselect lookup column in the NewItem form
for "Asset Checkouts" with the values from the selected items in "Assets".
Any ideas or suggestions on how to do this would be most appreciated!

According your description, you might want to add new item in "Asset Checkouts" list when selecting items in "Assets" list.
If so, we can achieve it with SharePoint Client Object Model.
We can add a button in the "Assets" list form page, when selecting items, we can take down the values of columns of the selected items, then click this button which will create
new item in "Asset Checkouts" list with the values needed.

Or if you just want to refer to the other columns in "Assets" list when add new item in "Asset Checkouts" list, we can insert the "Assets" list web part into the NewForm page
of the "Asset Checkouts" list, then when we add new item in the "Asset Checkouts" list, we will be able to look through the "Assets" list before we select values for the Lookup column.
To add web part into the NewForm.aspx, we need to find the button "Default New Form" from ribbon under "List" tab, then we can add web part in the NewForm.aspx.

Commit_form -- Unable to insert rec

Hi all,
I am facing one problem. Pl help me to solve this.
While loading the form, based on the parameter, values are shown [using execute_query and default_where is set]. If I made some changes to the fields and press save, record is getting updated.
[I have given explicit insert statement in one proc, and calling this procedure in Save button]
It works fine.
The pbm is, I have one button called NEW which should clear the form after pressing this[I have written clear_form(no_validate)] . And gave values for the fields and pressed save button. Gud...it is saving the record.
If I change the value of some fields and press save button,
"Unable to insert record" is coming..
It is not coming if I change the value of already existing record. If I add new entry and after saving if I make changes and try to save, this pbm occurs.
Unable to catch this bug! Pl help.

Hi all,
I am facing one problem. Please help me to solve this.
While loading the form, based on the parameter, values are shown [using execute_query and default_where is set]. If I made some changes to the fields and press save, record is getting updated.
[I have given explicit insert statement in one procedure, and calling this procedure in Save button]
It works fine.
The problem is, I have one button called NEW which should clear the form after pressing this[I have written clear_form(no_validate)] . And gave values for the fields and pressed save button. Good...it is saving the record.
If I change the value of some fields and press save button,
"Unable to insert record" is coming..
It is not coming if I change the value of already existing record. If I add new entry and after saving if I make changes and try to save, this problem occurs.
Unable to catch this bug! Please help.
