Unable to kill locks in table
Hi,
I have identified a lock on a table and have killed the id holding the lock
alter system kill session '119,63799'
.SID OBJNAME PROGRAM LOCKTIME SPID PROCESS Mo EVENT STATUS
119 CA850MB sqlplus@ipborbp 02:06:48:24 8067 8066 3 SQL*Net br KILLED
But after this, it shows that the lock is still present for ID 119.
On trying to kill the session again, it says "User session does not exist", but the lock is still present.
Is there a way to solve this problem without a database BOUNCE.
Rgds,
Nagesh
Sounds like something that I often face or faced recently. When the session with sid 119 is killed, and locks still persist on the same object, and when you tried to kill the session again, you got the message "User session does not exist". My suspicion here is that at this moment, it is a different sid that is holding up the object. If you kill that one, another one could suface
I believe Mohamed's suggestion is right - kill the OS process id that they all should be gone at once

i tried in various ways but not able to solve, statusid column have no index on, i tried using cursor but it does not work.
plz let me know how to solve this Issue, THANKS IN ADVANCE.Hello,
You should better post your question to a more related Forum, like Transact-SQL or SQL Server Database Engine; this Forum is for samples & community Projects.
Have you checked the execution plan if indexes are used?
You could update the data in chunks, e.g. 10.000 rows per execution. For this you have to add a TOP clause and a filter to update only those, who are not updated yet.
update TOP (10000) Employees
set Status = 'Close'
where statusid IN
(select statusid
from MyView
where DownloadedDate ='2014-07-27 00:00:00.000')
AND Status <> 'Close'

Unable to Kill the Consolidation task for HFM application
User is unable to kill the Consolidation task in HFM application. Consolidation process which usually takes 2 mins has been showing status as running @79% since 4-6 hrs. User ID is has the provisioning manager, lock Data and unlock data provisions in Shared Services. The stop task button in the Running Tasks list is not enabled . Our Support team has advanced user access which is not also able to stop the task. Please note Admin access is restricted and not allowed for such tasks.
I would check the HFM Log to see if you find anything referring to locked / blocked records.
If your HFM app is killed in the middle of consolidating or performing other activities that requires it to 'lock' a segment of memory in the database, that 'lock' is still held on those data points when the application restarts.
If you then try to perform another consolidation and it hits one of those locked data points, it will sit there for a very long amount of time waiting for the 'lock' to clear.
I forget the exact error message that you will find in the log AND I forget the timeout period; however, it sucks having to wait through that.
The other possibility that comes to mind is that the consolidation really aborted and the status didn't update. (once again check the logs)

Unable to kill the concurrent program
Hi
I have two cocnurrent programs say TEST_PROG1, TEST_PROG2.
if i am submitting TEST_PROG1 then oracle session id and oracle process id are popluating in fnd_concurrent_requests table
where as if iam doing the same with TEST_PROG2 then oracle session id and oracle process id are populating as null.
Is there any configuration problem with the second problem?
And if i amtrying to kill the request of TEST_PROG2, Using the below query
SELECT s.SID,
s.serial#,s.audsid,r.oracle_session_id
FROM fnd_concurrent_requests r,
gv$session s
WHERE 1 =1
AND r.request_id = 2998345;
AND r.oracle_session_id = s.audsid(+);
AND r.request_date > TRUNC(SYSDATE-1)
AND r.status_code NOT IN ('C','E','D','X');
which is returning null .But iam using serial#, audsid to kill the session
using
l_sql := 'alter system kill session '''|| l_sid || ','||l_serial_number||'''';
but iam unable to kill the session as thwy are getting null from the above sql.
Please help me to resolve this.
Thanks
SatyaHI
Followed the link shared and in one of your replied i found the below
I am not sure why there are no values stored in FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS table (for some columns) when you submit such reports, and I believe if this is resolved you will be able to see the trace files generated. So, is it possible to register any of these custom reports in one of the standard responsibilities and see if the values in the table are populated and/or the trace file get generated then?
I have added my concurrent program to US HRMS Reports & Processes request group. But still the same problem
Thanks

PDE-PLI031 Unable to fetch record from table tool_modulre
Dear ALL
I am creating PL/SQL Libraries in report builder.
but When I try to save the Library to database, a error
PDE-PLI031 Unable to fetch record from table tool_modulre.
Would you please tell me how to solve this problem
and why it coming
thankyou very much
pritam singhHi ,
Saving a library (.pll) to database would store the object inside specific tables that are to be created.
If you are using 6i, then you should find toolbild & toolgrnt.sql files which you have to run in the order specified. The above scripts creates the necessary tables and henceforth you won't get those errors while saving.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

How can I lock a table so that a person can only enter data, not manipulate the table?
I don't want to Lock the table as Numbers does it so perhaps locking is the wrong term. What I want to do is to lock the formatting of the table so it is possible to enter data but not possible to change the position, number of columns etc. I've been searching and all I can come up with is the regular lock function. But I still want to be able to use the cells. Just not change formatting.
Thanks, Bradyou cannot. When you lock a table the whole table is locked. I would consider segmenting the user input into a seprate, un-locked table and placing the calculations in a locked table

I get the following error
ORA-20001: Unable to create form on table. ORA-02263: need to specify the datatype for this column.
Please someone help to solve this as i need to fix it urgently.i exported the application from apex.oracle.com and imported it to our environment
import went fine, but when I ran the IR page I got
ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
evidently the problem is a lack of public execute on DBMS_LOB, which is used in the generated IR source.
while waiting for the DBA to grant privs on DBMS_LOB, changing the dbms_lob.getlength call to length() fixes the IR.
however, i am not getting the download link on the associated form page... changed templates, that's not the issue -- we'll see if that's a dbms_lob issue as well -

Looks like there is a 127-column limit on the number of report columns supported when using that wizard. Do you have more than that?

Help on locking MySQL tables (many can read, but only one can write) Java
Hi there,
I have a question regarding locking of tables so that only one person can write to the file, but many are able to read the files (or tables entities).
I am not sure if I need to lock the tables in my Java code or do I lock the tables within the MySQL syntax. I'm just a little confused on the matter.
This java code is a working prototype of inserting a customer data into the database and that works fine. I just don't know how to implement it so that only one person can update the table at a time.
Here is the Customer.java code that I have written.
Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much.

Is there any function module to lock t024 table
is there lock object for t024 table?otherwise any fm for locking t024 table?
Hi Naren,
<b>Good ... check out the following documentation
Lock objects are used to lock the database table while making the modifications on the database table.
you can create your own lock objects using SE11.
if you create lock objects on any table system will create two function modules.
1.ENQUEUE....
2.DEQUEUE.....
first one is used to lock the table
second one used to removing lock on the table.
lock Table
CALL FUNCTION 'ENQUEUE_E_TABLE'
EXPORTING
tabname = table_name

foreign_lock = 1
system_failure = 2

Unlock Table
CALL FUNCTION 'DEQUEUE_E_TABLE'
