Unable to map nested java classes and objects in actionscript using flex

Hi All..,
Im a newbie in flex and actionscripting...,I however have a task assigned in this domain and goin insane since a week now with this problem...
Problem explained:
I have a class called Unit that inturn have many other classes like for example unit has an engineer class,,,Im not able to access the attributes of engineer using the unit class...that is unit.engineer,engineerid is giving me a null...however attributes unique to unit are accessible...
Please help me out with this...,this problem has already eaten up my deadlines...
Any help would be appreciated and thankz in advance..

Thank you for the swift reply...,
I actually have three java classes Unit , Engineer and UnitretrievalRemote....
Unit contains engineer and also UnitRetrievalRemote has methods to retrieve unit which inturn should return engineer...,However i hav actionscript classes for both engineer and unit and mapped it apporopriately using the remotetag...and also my remote object is defined with a destination...
The below code is my Actionscripting code included in mxml:
import UnitScript.Engineer;//These are my Action Scripting Classes
import UnitScript.Unit;
import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
import mx.collections.ArrayList;
import mx.controls.Alert;
import mx.events.FlexEvent;
import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
public var unitIds:ArrayCollection;//I'm passing an array from java end
that retrieves the unitId's from the db using hibernate...
public var index:int;
public var unit:Unit;
protected function initData():void
ApplicationService.getUnitIds();
//This is the remoteobject call using blazeds to load the method during application start from java..
private function setUnitIds(event:ResultEvent):void
unitIds  = ArrayCollection(event.result);
private function setUnit(event:ResultEvent):void
unit = Unit(event.result);
//mx.controls.Alert.show( "Compling" );
//mx.controls.Alert.show( "Engineer Method" +unit.engineerId);
//mx.controls.Alert.show( " Engineer=="+unit.engineer) ;
unitIDText.text = String( unit.unitId );
customerName.text = unit.name;//displaying the contents fetched from the backend in the panel...
setEngineer(event);
private function setEngineer(event:ResultEvent):void
unit.engineer = Engineer(event.result);
unit = Unit(event.result);
eng_id.text = String(unit.engineer.engineerId);
mx.controls.Alert.show( "Engineer ID Please Show"+unit.engineer);
//This prints a null.
mx.controls.Alert.show( "Direct Engineer Id" +unit.engineer.category);
// This prints a null.
Remote object mapping is as below:
<mx:RemoteObject
    id="ApplicationService"
    destination="Destination1" >
    <mx:method name="getUnitIds" result="setUnitIds(event)"
    fault="mx.controls.Alert.show(event.fault.faultString)"/>
    <mx:method name="getUnit" result="setUnit(event)"
    fault="mx.controls.Alert.show(event.fault.faultString)"/>
</RemoteObject>

  • XSLT Mapping with Java class not working in Integration Repository

    Hi,
    I have an XSLT mapping program with Java enhancement and I was able to successfully tested it in Stylus Studio. However, when I imported the Java class and the xslt program in Enterprise Service Builder and tested it, my program does not compile.
    Here is the error message: "Transformer Configuration Exception occurred when loading XSLT mapping_temp.xsl; details: Could not compile stylesheet".
    My java program is in a zip file containing SOAPHeaderHandler.java and SOAPHeaderhandler.class. My Java has a package com.nga.xslt.
    Here is the declaration of my Java class in the XSLT: xmlns:javamap="java:com.nga.xslt.SOAPHeaderHandler"
    It seems that it could not read the java class. Can you please advice what is wrong?

    Hi ,
    select XMLTOOLKIT option in Operation mapping and execute it.
    I am not sure we can call java program in XSLT Program,but alternative is copy the code and use it in XSLT mapping it self,that means your XSLT program will become with JAVA extensions.
    then in Operation mapping level select SAPXMLTOOL kit option and execute it. i hope it will work. if it is not working then you have deploy some JAXP files on server,because the way execution of XSLT Mpaping program got changed,like when eve you executing XSLT with extnasions( if you are not using XMLTOOL kit option) then you have to use latest version of JAXP.JDK files.

                smt=con.createStatement();
               rs= smt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM emp");
               while(rs.next()){
                String  str = rs.getString("Name");
                }catch( Exception e){
                    String msg="Exception:"+e.getMessage();

    }next i created a jsp where i want to access String str defined in java class above.

    please help me to find right way to do this.
    i am using netbeans ide.

    Very bad approach
    1) Think if your table contains more than one NAMEs then you will get only the last one with your code.
    2) Your String is declared as local variable in the method.
    3) You have not created any object of NewClass nor called the method in JSP page. Then who will call the method to run sql?
    4) Your NewClass contains main method which will not work in web application, it's not standalone desktop application so remove main.
    Better create an ArrayList and then call the method of NewClass and then store the data into ArrayList and return the ArrayList.
    It should look like
    {code:java}
    package ris;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    public class  NewClass{
        public static ArrayList getNames(){
            Connection con = null;
            ResultSet rs=null;
            Statement smt=null;
            ArrayList nameList = new ArrayList();
            try{
                Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
                con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql:///net","root", "anthony111");
                smt=con.createStatement();
               rs= smt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM emp");
               while(rs.next()){
                nameList.add(rs.getString("Name"));
               return nameList;
                }catch( Exception e){
                    String msg="Exception:"+e.getMessage();
                   </code><code class="jive-code jive-java"><font>return nameList;</code><code class="jive-code jive-java">
                }finally {
          try {
            if(con != null)
              con.close();
          } catch(SQLException e) {}
          </code><code>return nameList;</code>
    <code class="jive-code jive-java">    }

  • Difference b/w Java Class and Bean class

    hi,
    can anybody please tell me the clear difference between ordinary java class and java Bean class. i know that bean is also a java class but i donno the exact difference between the both.
    can anybody please do help me in understanding the concept behind the bean class.
    Thank u in advance.

    While researching this question, I came across this answer by Kim Fowler. I think it explains it better than any other answer I have seen in the forum.
    Many thanks Kim
    Hi
    Luckily in the java world the definition of components is a little
    less severe than when using COM (I also have, and still occasionaly
    do, worked in the COM world)
    Firstly there are two definitions that need to be clarified and
    separated: JavaBean and EnterpriseJavaBean (EJB)
    EJB are the high end, enterprise level, support for distributed
    component architectures. They are roughly equivalent to the use of MTS
    components in the COM/ COM+ world. They can only run within an EJB
    server and provide support, via the server, for functionality such as
    object pooling, scalability, security, transactions etc. In order to
    hook into this ability EJB have sets of interfaces that they are
    required to support
    JavaBeans are standard Java Classes that follow a set of rules:
    a) Hava a public, no argument constructor
    b) follow a naming patterns such that all accessor and modifier
    functions begin with set/ get or is, e.g.
    public void setAge( int x)
    public int getAge()
    The system can then use a mechanism known as 'reflection/
    introspection' to determine the properties of a JavaBean, literally
    interacting with the class file to find its method and constructor
    signatures, in the example above the JavaBean would end with a single
    property named 'age' and of type 'int' The system simply drops the
    'set' 'get' or 'is' prefix, switches the first letter to lower case
    and deduces the property type via the method definition.
    Event support is handled in a similar manner, the system looks for
    methods similar to
    addFredListener(...)
    addXXXListener
    means the JavaBean supports Fred and XXX events, this information is
    particularly useful for Visual builder tools
    In addition there is the abiliity to define a "BeanInfo' class that
    explicitly defines the above information giving the capability to hide
    methods, change names etc. this can also be used in the case where you
    cannot, for one reason or another, use the naming patterns.
    Finally the JavaBean can optionally - though usually does - support
    the Serializable interface to allow persistence of state.
    As well as standard application programming, JavaBeans are regularly
    used in the interaction between Servlets and JSP giving the java
    developer the ability to ceate ojbect using standard java whilst the
    JSP developer can potentially use JSP markup tags to interact in a
    more property based mechanism. EJB are heaviliy used in Enterprise
    application to allow the robust distribution of process

    How do I drop these java source and java class objects from the database
    I tried using the following command
    drop java class /4a524d89_AutoTransliteratorPk
    drop java source AutoTransliteratorPkg
    But I get error ORA-29501: invalid or missing Java source, class, or resource name

              shirts.addPoint(1+h,12+v); //10
              s.fillPolygon(shirts);
    }from what i understand each object is essentially a method...
    Here is the code for the java applet I'm making:
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    public class MyClassHW extends Applet { // implements ActionListener, AdjustmentListener {
         Shirt myShirt;
         int size;
         public void init(){
              myShirt = new Shirt(1,1);
    // <applet code = "MyClassHW.class" height = 300 width=300> </applet>thank you for your time and help. as always, your efforts are appriciated.

    .\Shirt.java:6: invalid method declaration; return type required     public Shirt(int size){
    I guess, public Shirt(int size) is constructor in class shirt. You have one int in this constructor. Shirt(int size)
    Here you initialize your shirt with two int:
    MyClassHW.java:10: cannot resolve symbolsymbol : constructor Shirt (int,int)location: class Shirt          myShirt = new Shirt(1,1);
    Shirt(int size, int what?)
    It's why it show such message.
    But even if you fix it seems like you have very vague ideas about what you are doing.
    As far as I understood you need three classes.
    First applet Clothing:
    public class Clothing extends Applet{
    Shirt myShirt;
    Pants myPants;
    public void init() {
    myShirt = new Shirt(1); // small shirt
    myPants = new Pants(32, 40); // medium waist and long legs
    Second and third your classes Shirt and Pants:
    public class Shirt extends Object {
    int size;
    public Shirt(int s) {
    size = s;
    public int getSize () {
    return size;
    same for Pants, only you need two parameters for it or whatever you want.
    You could design it diffrently if you want derive your Shirts and Pants from Clothing and then to use them in your applet. But, indeeed, you desperately have to do some serious reading, where authors are accurate in they definitions and stuff, because it's kind of complicated.

    The Java Tutotials has several trails that discuss both implicit and explicit locking, how they work and has code examples.
    The Concurrency trail has the links to the other sections you need to review

    The Synchronized Methods and Intrinsic Locks and Synchronization trails discusse Synchronized Methods and Statements

  • MAT error: 0xHEX is used a class and object...

    Hi there,
    playing around some more with MAT I ran into the following error with some of my dumps. All were taken on 1.5 SUN JVMs (running on either Solaris or Linux).
    org.eclipse.mat.snapshot.SnapshotException: Error: 0x8d776450 is used as class and object simultaneously. Are you using a beta DLL for Sun JDK 1.4.2 to write the heap dump?

    Since the suggested problem (usage of JDK 1.4.2) is not the case: What else can I do to find out what is going on? Do I need any special switches for jmap? The dumps all were taken with the same command:
    jmap -heap:format=b <pid>
    Still, some work, some do not. Any suggestions?
    bye, Michael

    Hi Michael,
    this smells like a bug. The easiest way again is to have a look at the dump. If you zip it, it should become smaller. I could also provide upload space. Right now, I am at the J1 in San Francisco so it might not be as easy for me to fix this.
    Andreas.

    Hello,
    There is a way to distribute the Mysql db files with yout java application without need to install Mysql in the computer, like in access, you just copy the .mdb file with your java class and create a conection to it.
    Thank You

    No. If you want to do that you should just use Access. mySQL files will not work without the mySQL server.
