    A. This is a known issue and can be resolved either by turning off

Here is a registy fix for Win7 machines to the file association problem.
    This from TinusHDCA user:
I installed Photoshop CS6, then found CS5 was still there. I thought, hey, I don't need CS5 anymore, so I uninstalled CS5. then I found out that Photoshop was no longer available in 'Open with' when right-clicking an image...
    So I went into the Registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command, and changed the (Default) from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" (so changed CS5 to CS6) - and now I see 'Adobe Photoshop CS6' in my 'Open with' list when right-clicking an image...

    Hi Dollie,
I am wondering whether you want to upload multiple documents into SharePoint library once.
If yes, you can try to use Drag and drop feature in SharePoint 2013 to upload multiple documents into SharePoint library.
More information about Drag and drop feature, you can refer to:

  • Unable to open any jpegs

I just noticed that I am unable to open any jpeg files on my MacPro.  I cannot be sure when it started but in the last two days it became apparent to me.  when I click on a file on the desktop or in Finder, nothing happens. The icon of the item is highlighted but it doesn't move, budge or give an error message.
The only recent that happened on my Mac was that some fonts had to be cleaned up b/c of an issue with Office for Mac but I can't imagine that has any relationship?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.
    Bernice

Do these steps in order and as written and do not skip ahead:
Find a JPG file on the desktop and right (or control) click it.
In the pop up should be Open With...
Go to the bottom and select Other.
Look for the program Preview and select it. At the bottom will be a box to check that states "Always Open With". Check that box.
    Then click Open.
You should be able to open JPGs again.

  • Setting Photoshop CC 2014 as my "Default Program" to open JPEG files in Windows 7

I just installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my Windows 7 computer. I had set Photoshop as my "Default Program" to open up JPEG files. Now whenever I double-click a JPEG file, Photoshop CC will launch instead of Photoshop CC 2014. I have noticed that the executable files for all versions of Photoshop are "Photoshop.exe" (no wonder Windows gets confused). If I changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 to something like "Photoshop2014.exe" then Windows will let me choose the program as my "Default Program" to open up a JPEG, however this makes it impossible for me to open up files in Lightroom. Lightroom will default back to Photoshop CC.
I have changed the name of the executable file for Photoshop CC 2014 back to "Photoshop.exe" and renamed all the executable files for my legacy versions of Photoshop. This still does not work.
Do I need to make some types of change in the registry?

  • Bridge opens JPEG files in Windows Photo Viewer not Photoshop

How do I tell Bridge to open my JPEG files in Photoshop and not Windows Photo Viewer? I see that Windows Photo Viewer is selected as the default in my preferences and I do not see Photoshop as an option. I do see COM Surrogate 6.1. I just upgraded from CS5 to CS6 yesterday and I am just noticing this issue. I never dealth with this problem with CS5. Any suggestions? Thank you all for the help.

If you deleted CS5 after installing CS6 you are one of the unfortunate that also fouled up the file associations.
The safest way to restore function is to uninstall CS6, run the Adobe script cleaner and reinstall.
There is a registry fix that I include as an option, but on vacation so can not find that references.
Some have had succes with running CCleaner, but registry cleaners can cause some problems of their own if the delete "good files".

  • Unable to open PSE icons in PSE9

I have PSE icons (JPG Files) in my Documents.  I click on the file in "Documents>open>"file folder number">open"  PSE 9 opens and I receive the message ("Could not complete your request because the file is locked.  Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.")  When I try to open the same PSE icons, while PSE 9 is open, the message becomes ("Could not complete your request because of a program error.")  How do you get to the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer?  Also the file icons display as icons in the view column of Documents.

Thanks Ken, I have tried all of the above.  When I uncheck "encrypt
contents to secure data" I come to a dialogue box "Access Denied" "You will need
to provide administrator permission to change these attributes.  Click
Continue to complete this operation."   When I click Continue:  I  come to
another dialogue box.  "Error Applying Attributes:  an error  occurred applying
attributes to the file C:\Users\User  name|Docu...Number_Number.JPG,  Access
is denied."  I have 4  choices "Ignore, Ignore All, Try Again and/or
Cancel."  all of which  stop me in my tracks.  I have a Dell System and, I am not
sure  but, Dell may have some sort of prevention for me to go any further.
It may have something to do with the "Bit Blocker Drive  Encryption".

  • Opening a Jpeg file

I can't open a jpeg file, i'm receiving error message stating "unable to open file due to  parsing of jpeg" does anyone know what this is?

Sounds like the file maybe corrupted.
Try another program like gimp, Windows paint or other image editor. It maybe more forgiving trying to open it. Then save the file with a new name to make sure the file is rewritten. While your at it save another file as a png and/or tiff. That will save some time if the jpg did not work.

  • Error message: "Unable to open the physical file" when trying to attach AdventureWorks database

I have searched the internet and this forum and have not found an answer...
I am trying to install the AdventureWorks database into my single instance of MS SQL Server Express 2005.  I am logged into my machine as an administrator and logged into SQL Server 2005 express 'sa'.  I attempt to run the following script:
    exec sp_attach_db @dbname = N'AdventureWorks',
    @filename1 = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf',
    @filename2 = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_log.ldf'
The error message I get back is:
    Msg 5120, Level 16, State 101, Line 1
Unable to open the physical file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".
The folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data" and all the files in it are read-write.  I am 100.0000% certain the files "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf" and "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\AdventureWorks_Log.ldf" exist!  They are the result of running the installation program AdventureWorksDB.msi, which I downloaded from: http://www.codeplex.com/MSFTDBProdSamples/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=4004.
What do I have to do to install the AdventureWorkds database????

    Hello,
To try to help you, please, could you give some more informations ?
    - the operating system (XP/Vista), the edition ( Pro/Home...) and the service pack
    - usually, the installer installs the both files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Sql Server\Samples. Is there any change in the location or have you moved the both files ?
    - could you check with the files explorer , that the 2 files are read-write and not read only( find one file, right-click on it, properties and in the 1st tabpage, you should see a checkbox read-only ( if checked , unchecke it ) ?
    - have you Sql Server Management Studio Express Edition ( at least SP1 ) ?
If no, download it and use it to attach
    in the object explorer,
click on your instance to expand it
    right click on databases
in the contextual menu, click on attach
in the new form, click on add
you arrive on a second form : find your file , click on it, and OK
it's the simplest way to attach ( the sp_-attach_db is complicated to type )
the error messages are sometimes more clear in SSMSEE than in Sqlcmd
Try also to attach ( thru SSMSEE or Sqlcmd but in using the windows authentification )
NB: i hope that you are not trying to attach AdventureWorks on a remote instance and on a remote computer ( it would explain access denied )
We are waiting for your feedback to try to help you more efficiently
    Have a nice day

According to your User Agent you posted this question using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. Are you having a problem with Firefox? What Firefox version?
You said you are having a problem opening PDF files on your system. Can you explain that better? Mozilla Support can help you with opening PDF files in Firefox, which uses a built-in PDF reader. Maybe one of these articles will help?

    Hi,

to open Step output file.  The step failed.
I am clueless , why i face this error, Do any one of you face such problems in backup (scheduled backups) job.
    hemadri

    Hi Hemadribabu,
    >>”string or binary data would be truncated”
As my research, the error above could occur in the case of passing string or binary data, whose length is larger than received object. So I recommend you to run the Transact-SQL script in SQL Server query window to check if this kind of issue exists, or
you can post your entire script for further analysis.
    >> “unable to open step output file”
In addition, as for the error above, this issue can be caused by two reasons below.
    1. The path of the output file is invalid. To fix the issue, please follow the steps below.
        a. Double click on the SQL Agent job.
        b. Switch to Steps tab, and click Edit.
        c. Click Advanced option.
        d. Change the path under Output file or delete the path. For a UNC path, you can
map a network drive and use the network drive instead.
    2. Your account doesn’t have access to the folder. Transact-SQL job step runs as the owner of the job step, or as the SQL Server Agent service account. So please check the type of the job step and the account which your job step runs as, and make sure that
it has access to the folder. For more information about the process, please review the similar thread:

  • Sharepoint 2010 and Unable to Open MS Office Files

    Hello,
I have this annoying issue that I'm experiencing. My IE11 is unable to open *any* sharepoint files. I have to "download a copy", then "add document" in order for me to update files, pure annoyance.
This is just for one client.
Here's the stuff I've done so far
    Change a new PC
Remove Office 2013 OEM and Install Office 2010 Standard (cannot open file)
Remove Office 2010 Standard and Install Office 2013 (cannot open file)
    BasicAuthLevel registry (no go)
Disable all IE Plugins except Microsoft ones (no go)
    Use IE x86 (no go)
    Use IE10 (no go)
Use IE Tab on Firefox (no go)
Trust Center and Trust all Content (no go)
Delete Cache, reset Advanced Setting, "reset" (no go)
Uncheck "Autodetect" on LAN setting, then recheck (no go)
Add sharepoint to Trusted Sites (no go).
Use CCleaner to clean PC, then reinstall Office (no go)
Uninstall all other office product except 2013 Office. Remove Sharepoint component via Repair, then re-add (no go)
I've Binged and tested many solutions and unable to find it. I use fiddler to see what stuff is being passed back and forth.
The file is 100kb. If I use "download a copy", its downloaded right away. However, if I open with Sharepoint, it takes forever, then eventually give me this error (see attached).
Please advise. I've seen odd issue, but never this one where I cannot Bing it.

    Hi Samir,
For troubleshooting your issue, you can take steps as below:
1.Make sure you are using IE 32bit.
2.Go to Internet Options>Advanced tab, uncheck "Do not save encrypted files to disk".
