Unable to play audio stream in a swf file

Making a swf file that reacts like a button: it plays sound
when you pass over it. Or should play. When the button keyframes
sound options are set to "start" or "event", there is no problem,
it works well. But it doesn't work if I set to "stream". My
original file is an mp3. Is there something special avout it? Help
tutorials didn't help me so far...

With "stream" you have to make sure there are enough frames
in the movie to play the whole sound file. Try adding some frames
and see if it plays then.

Hello ak_kanan,
Welcome to the forums.
Try doing the following. In the browser swipe down from the top and choose Settings, now choose Content, here where it says Enable Flash change this to Off.  Now try going to the website that was not working (it will not work again this is fine) Once on the page swipe down from the top again and this time enable the Flash setting. Now reload the page and test to see if you have the same issue.

• Need help with - playing back to back multiple .swf files

I have four .swf files namely, 1.swf, 2.swf, 3.swf and 4.swf
I have linked these files to buttons that can play these
movies individually without any problem and the movieloads it
automatically starts 1.swf movie and plays it completely.
However, what I'd like to to do is have these movies
onloading start playing automatically from 1.swf to 4.swf as a
continous play and give the user the ability to click on a button
to skip and play any of the four .swf files.
The code I have for currently is as follows:
loadMovie("1.swf","placeholder_mc");
this.1_btn.onRelease = function () {
loadMovie("1.swf","placeholder_mc");}
this.2_btn.onRelease = function () {
loadMovie("2.swf","placeholder_mc");}
stop();
this.3_btn.onRelease = function () {
loadMovie("3.swf","placeholder_mc");}
stop();
this.4_btn.onRelease = function () {
loadMovie("4.swf","placeholder_mc");}
stop();
From what I have read so far to accomplish the above I'll
probably need some varialbles to be defined and have listner code.
I could be wrong. Since I am very new at Actionscript, would
greatly appreciate forum members assistance.
I am using Flash8 professional. Thanks.

you'll need to either use code in the loaded swfs or create a
loop in your main swf that repeatedly checks the _currentframe of
the loaded swf and when that equals the loaded swf's _totalframes,
you'll load the next swf.

• Unable to play audio video files in solaris express

I am unable to play mp3 and avi files in my newly installed oracle solaris express. I have installed 'gnome-audio', 'gnome-media', 'gstreamer', 'gstramer/plugin/gnonlin' packages. I have even installed 'IPSFWmpeg' MPEG-1 liabrary from sunfreeware repository. All these softwares are shown as installed packages in my package manager. But still on playing any video in totem movie player or audio file in rhythmbox player, a dialog box with an error message is displayed "The playback of this movie requires a MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder plugin which is not installed".
What should i do to play avi files in Totem movie player and mp3 files in Rhythmbox music player? Please don't suggest other media players because i want to use only above said totem and rhythmbox and i want to know what's wrong with my software installations?

You can get a free MP3 codec from Fluendo (http://www.fluendo.com/shop/product/fluendo-mp3-decoder/). There are some instructions on setting it up here: http://blogs.sun.com/observatory/entry/playing_your_mp3s_with_songbird.

How do I play audio books in my car using USB cord?
Does the sound system on your car have a usb input? If so connect your iPhone to the radio with your cable and play the audio book on your phone. Note that your vehicle needs to be able to accept audio input through thr USB port and not just provide a charging circuit. Check your vehicle's manual if you are not sure.

• Can i add play/pause button when playback swf file??

Hi all
i have a script to convert ms office docs to pdf then to swf files and display it in my web site, the problem is that the output files (swf file) contain each page of my documents in a separated frame and when i load the page there no possibilitie to control this file (play / stop) or (next/previous) buttons, the only way is to use the right click menu options.
i am asking if there are any solution to embed my converted swf files and control it.
thanks

Hi,
It sounds like you'll want to talk with the author of the script that builds the swf.  If that's you, then I'd recommend reposting this question over on the Flash Professional forums.
Thanks,

• I cant play audio only mp4 or mp3 file with audio tag in firefox...how to tackle this?

In my web application m trying to play audio only mpeg 4 or mp3 files.I m using HTML5 <audio> tag to accomplish this,it smoothly working in chrome but not in firefox.Why this basic support not avail in Firefox??
Note: I read about some patent issues with mp4 and mp3 but i wonder why chrome browser can play those files.

Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
# Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/> <br/>
# Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
# Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
# Restart Firefox.
This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

• Unable to get the same font in swf file

Hi,
I've created some swf files in which text was written using one particular font. When I run these swf files in other computers which don't have this font, The text gets displayed in different font.
How to get the same font in other computers also without installing the font.
I tried embedding font in fla file. But I commit mistake at somewhere. Could anyone help me to figure it out ?
Thanks !

Hi,
Thanks for your assistance.
I apologize for not explaining it properly. As you had suggested I just created one new file in which I kept only one text field. No actionscript or anything. The text will be displayed on the stage for 2 secs.
As it is static I don't need to embed the text. So I didn't. Checked the swf file in different computers but no desired display. I then embedded the font. No desired display again in different computers. I then changed it from static to dynamic text, It is not necessary though. Still no desired display. I then tried with different font. But same thing happens.
How did I embed the font ?
Text --> Font Embedding --> Choosing correct font family and style --> Choosing character ranges as uppercase, lowercase, numbers, punctuation. Then clicked on + sign available at right top corner of the left area in which all embedded fonts are displayed. Click OK. Checked in Library and those fonts are available.
I even didn't do anything with actionscript tab as I don't have any actionscript at all for this file.
2 fonts I used:
Font Family: Cooper Std
Style: Black
Font Family: DigifaceWide
Style: Regular
I don't really know Where I commit mistake. Please advice me.
Awaiting your precious reply.
Thanks.

• Firefox Won't Play Audio Streaming

I have researched this and tried: shutting off anti-virus, re-installing Firefox, checking all plug-ins, shutting off ABP, etc. Some websites will not play streaming audio in Firefox but do so in IE and Chrome. See the 2 examples below - any ideas??

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

• Play audio from file to speaker with Media Foundation

I'm attempting to play the audio track from an mp4 file to my speaker. I know Media Foundation is able to decode the audio stream as I can play it with the TopoEdit tool.
In the sample code below I'm not using a media session or topology. I'm attempting to manually connect the media source to the sink writer. The reason I want to do this is that I ultimately intend to be getting the source samples from the network rather than
from a file.
The error I get on the pSinkWriter->WriteSample line when running the sample below is MF_E_INVALIDREQUEST (0xC00D36B2). So I suspect there's something I haven't wired up correctly.

GRag and Mesh are correct. You cannot use Flex to access a file on a user's hard drive, which is where your path is pointing.
Instead, create a folder within your Flex project, under the "src" folder (example: src/assets/videos), and put the SWF there. Change the path in your code to point to the new location, like "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf". Note that you don't refer to the src folder; it is the "root" of your application, and when you deploy all your files to your web server, you will be copying the folders you created to the root folder of your web server. So, all the paths will remain consistent. Flex will attempt to find "assets/videos/myVideoFile.swf", starting from the "root", or location, of the application itself.

• MPEG Audio Stream

Why is it impossible to pause an MPEG audio stream file without having it restart when you want to play it again? And also, why is it impossible to skip ahead in the MPEG audio stream file while it is playing?

Hi, welcome to Apple's user-to-user discussion forums.
An audio stream is not a file on your disk or on a cd, it is literally a digital stream that is playing as it is downloading. When you click on "Pause", you are stopping the stream. When you click "Play" again, you are restarting the stream, but there is now download manager for streams, so the stream starts from the beginning of the file on the server side or else from the beginning of the playlist, or, if it is a live radio stream, you will pick the stream up at the current live position.
While some of the stream is cached on your computer, iTunes has no control over the cache, and the stream is not cached as a file, so the cache may only hold the most recent portion of the stream.
I have seen some movie streams that you could pause, backtrack, or move forward (once enough of the stream was downloaded) using Quicktime, but I have seen nothing similar for audio streams short of recording the stream and then playing the resultant file.

• Record multiple audio streams

Hello
I'd like to make a voice chat software that can record all
audio streams in one flv file. Is it possible with FMS 2?
Thank you for the answers:
Peter

Hello Peter,
Using the server NetStream object, create a new server stream
and give it a name, e.g. master:
ns = Stream.get("master");
Then start it recording with the instruction to append all
the new recordings:
ns.record("append");
Then call the play method of the NetStream with each new
publishing stream and a second parm of -1 to indicate live
recording:
ns.play("pubstream1",-1);
ns.play("pubstream2",-1);
When you want to stop recording call:
ns.play(false);
These are the basics. Post back if you need more.
