  • Unable to start replicat due to invalid username/password

    below is my parameter:
    REPLICAT MSREP
    SOURCEDEFS /u01/app/oracle/gg/dirdef/emp.def
    USERID gg_user, PASSWORD welcome1
    MAP hrschema.emp, TARGET gg_user.emp;
    when I start the replicat, I got an error invalid username/password. If I log into SQLPLUS with the same username/password, it's working fine.......
    thoughts?

    It doesn't know. A GGS install directory can have Extracts and Replicats for any number of databases on a server. If you really do want to use a different GGS install directory for each database (which you certainly don't have to), then you can simply name your OGG intall directories to suit your needs, such as /u01/app/oracle/product/ogg/db1 and /u01/app/oracle/product/ogg/db2.
    If you use only 1 OGG install directory, then when you add and Extract or Replicat, there's an option in the command to add a description as well, and you could put something in each description like "Extract for DB1" or "Replicat for DB2", and when you query those components in GGSCI with INFO ALL for example, you'd see that description next to the name of the component.
    Also, for Oracle databases, your Replicat and Extract can contain a SETENV parameter which includes the ability to set the ORACLE_HOME and SID for the respective database.
    For example:
    SETENV (ORACLE_HOME = “/home/oracle/ora9/product”)
    SETENV (ORACLE_SID = “ora9”)
    If this were SQL Server, your connection parameter in the Extract or Replicat would point to a System DSN (such as DBLOGIN SOURCEDB dsn_name) and that DSN that you reference and create with the ODBC applet, contains the db instance and database name, which makes it unique.

    Which HTTP Listener are you using... This stack trace looks strange. I would expect to see reference to org.apache.jserv if you were running a supported environment. The supported Web Servers are JWS which comes with iFS, and Oracle HTTP Listener, which comes with 8.1.7 or iAS 1.0.2
    Also please try with JDBC11 and let me know if this works

    Hi,
    I think better to check with your sysadmin or DBA on this, I had the same isuse before but Apps 11i with Discoverer, I talked to ERP sysadmin and worked fine.
    Since applications userid cannot talk with Discoverer schema (eul10_us) and it should directly talk with APPS user and then APPS user can talk with Discoverer user.
    To the best of my knowledge I provided.

    Hi, I have the issue of invalid username/password when running VSM 1.3.
    When I ran authentication.java , I got the error as follow:
    oracle: Exception thrown from getService method of ServiceLocator class: Lookup error:javax.naming.AuthenticationException:Invalid username/password for current-workspace-app(admin);nested exception is: javax.naming.AuthenticationException:Invalid username/password for current-workspace-app(admin)
    When running the web app, I got same message "Invalid username/password ".
    I checked the database. There are 4 records for admin,apparelowner,electowner and guest.
    My oracle db has japanese character set.
    I have read all the threads about the topic of VSM.
    But unfortunately I didn't find a clear conclusion and solution for this issue.
    Is it an issue of locale? Really appreciate your reply.

    Was this working before? If yes, any changes been done recently?
    Was the dbc file recreated recently?

    Edited by: SSNair on Jun 17, 2011 5:43 AMHere's your problem:
    -bash-3.00$ sqlplus IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DBBecaue of the dollar-sign, The shell is trying to expand the environment variable $bvs#ir@DB
    Of course you have no environment variable by that name so what gets passed to sqlplus is not "IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DB", but rather "IRES_USER/U9"
    In your first test, you didn't pass the password on the command line, so the shell didn't get a chance to intercept it.
    You can have a similar issue if you have a '@' in your password
    oracle> sqlplus scott/P@ssword@orclTns will catch that first "@" as the delimiter to the tns string, and come up with something that cant' be resolved.

    few things you can check :
    a) Is there a password file ? Is the password correct in it ?
    b) SYSDBA remote login is disabled. remote_login_passwordfile is not set to EXCLUSIVE in the spfile or init.ora.
    Set: remote_login_passwordfile= EXCLUSIVE
    Create a password file:
    Unix: $
    orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapw$ORACLE_SID password=sys entries=5
    Windows:
    C:\> orapwd file=%ORACLE_HOME%\database\pwd%ORACLE_SID% password= sys entries=5
    To synchronize the password for sys for normal connections and connections as sysdba connect as a sysdba user and reset the sys password:
    $ sqlplus "/ as sysdba" SQL> ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY change_on_install;

  • ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied. but SQLPLUS works

    "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" when attempting to log on to db, in three different applications. Error is observed in Toad, Crystal Reports, and MS ODBC Administrator connect test. However, same db credentials work in SQLPLUS.
    Customer is attempting to log into reporting database hosted by my company, and using Cisco VPN client.
    I am unable to reproduce this at this time, on my machine, using same credentials and VPN profile.
    Here is what we know/tried:
    1. PING HOSTNAME is successful on CUSTOMER’S machine
    2. TNSPING HOSTNAME is successful on CUSTOMER’S machine
    3. SQLPLUS is successful with USER2/(pw)@HOSTNAME.int on CUSTOMER’S machine
    4. We corrected timeout error on CUSTOMER’S side, by adding TCP.CONNECT_TIMEOUT=1000 in SQLNET.ORA (Also observed extremely slow performance on CUSTOMER SIDE)
    5. We corrected dns suffix problem on CUSTOMER’S side, observed in NSLOOKUP by
    adding: IP ADDRESS AND HOSTNAME to Windows HOSTS file
    and commenting out default suffix COMPANY.com from SQLNET.ORA file
    6. VPN configuration and VPN credentials are good.
    We tested CUSTOMER’S VPN profle, CUSTOMER’S VPN credentials, and user USER2/(pw)@HOSTNAME on my machine (WIN7). I am able to maintain persistant connection to HOSTNAME for hours
    7. TNSNames entries are good. Able to connect to db in Toad, and Crystal, on CUSTOMER’S machine using different Oracle user, USER3 (only has grant connect). Unable to logon to db, with Oracle user USER1, or USER2. (USER2 was created to try to resolve login problem w USER1, but issue still exists.)
    8. CUSTOMER has Windows VISTA, does not have admin privileges, has Oracle 10 installed for client. Using same Cisco VPN client I have installed.
    9. Database on our servers is 11g
    I suspect a configuration issue with CUSTOMER'S Vista machine, OR network, but not sure what to check.
    Help?

    Oracle is too dumb to lie.
    make sure that Java is installed on same system as Crystal Report.
    Then modify below to utilized your connection details to independently confirm connectivity independent of all other software.
    bcm@bcm-laptop:~$ cat Conn.java
    import java.sql.*;
    class Conn {
      public static void main (String[] args) throws Exception
       Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
       Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
         ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@//localhost:1521/v112", "scott", "tiger");
                            // @//machineName:port/SID,   userid,  password
       try {
         Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
         try {
           ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery("select BANNER from SYS.V_$VERSION");
           try {
             while (rset.next())
               System.out.println (rset.getString(1));   // Print col 1
           finally {
              try { rset.close(); } catch (Exception ignore) {}

  • Invalid username/password in case of oracle os authentication

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect to database using oracle local os authentication. REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT = false
    I am using oracle 11g.
    here is the code
    I am trying in two ways :-
    1. OracleDataSource
    OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource();
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:oci:@";
    ods.setURL(url);
    ods.setDatabaseName("oradg");
    Connection conn = ods.getConnection();
    In this case it always connects to the default ORACLE_SID which is set in the environment.
    2. Simple JDBC connection
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:oci:@oradg";
    Connection con = Drivermanager.getconnection(url,props);
    in this case it always says "invalid username/password"
    Please help me to resolve the problem.
    Thanks

    2 using the oracle account for this is a VERY BAD IDEA
    i have another os user called demo which has the same issue.
    REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT any way i dont want to use.
    3 always connecting to the database server is a VERY BAD IDEA
    i am not very clear on this can u please elaborate it?
    I dont want to use any username and password for os authentication in the code.
    The problem is if ORACLE_SID is set in the environment then code works fine. But I want to set the sid in the code itself.
    Because if i set in the environment then at a time only one sid will be used.
    But why you want to hard code the SID in the first place anywhere? Why not to use the Services ?

  • Cannot drop queue objects - invalid username/password

    Folks - I'm having an issue where I cannot drop the user that owns my AQ/streams objects from an 11g database.
    SYS@bwapepd1> drop user streams cascade;
    drop user streams cascade
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-24008: queue table STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_QT must be dropped first
    So then I try to drop the queue -
    SYS@bwapepd1> execute dbms_aqadm.drop_queue('STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_Q');
    BEGIN dbms_aqadm.drop_queue('STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_Q'); END;
    ERROR at line 1:

    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_AQADM", line 167
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    So, next I tried to drop the queue table with a force -
    SYS@bwapepd1> BEGIN
    dbms_aqadm.drop_queue_table(
    queue_table => 'STREAMS.LB_SUBS_SOURCE_QT',
    force => TRUE);
    END;
    BEGIN
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_AQADM_SYS", line 4215
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_AQADM", line 197
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    I've tried as both SYS and the STREAMS owner and both get the same invalid username/password error.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thx!
    rb

    There is insufficient information here to help you but my recommendation would be:
    1. Stop the queue
    2. Drop the queue
    3. Drop the queue table
    4. Drop the user with cascade
    If you are getting an insufficient privs message when logged on as SYS then you need to make sure that you are where you think you are: You are not. Perhaps you have a remote connection, for example.
    PS: Is this Windows and are you using the joke that is remote desktop? That is one example of not being where you think you are.

    With your code if I do
    alter user schu password expire.
    It will ask me to enter new password and verify password after which I am getting
