Unattended cucm installation with answers file

Hello guys,
I'm trying to understand how to master the CUCM answer files as well as the ASG tool. I didn't find any thorough docs around so I'm gonna ask here:
1) In my opinion it should be possibile to have a cluster setup Pub+Sub without adding the second node to the PUB first through the web interface. Is it enough to enable the Dynamic Cluster Config option in the answer file in order to have the second node joining the first one?
2)What if during the installation I also want to apply a patch? In my opinion should be supported using the following section of the xml file:
<ParamNameText>Install or upgrade type</ParamNameText>
<ParamDefaultValue>basic</ParamDefaultValue>
<ParamValue>Basic Install</ParamValue>
</InstallType>
Changing the param value to: Applying a Patch but I cannot manage when to mount the floppy image because if you mount it too early it will proceed with the installation without upgrading even if you choose the skip button in the wizard and click on I want to install a patch
3)Last but not least: how should I use the clusterConfig.xml? W/ o w/out platformConfig.xml?
4)It's clear to me how to create the .vfd image. I already went through the CUCM official guides without success as well as the help associated with the AWG tool.
Look forward to your answers, thanks for your time!

Hi,
If an unsigned or invalid boot-critical device driver is installed on an x64-based computer, the computer will not boot. The unsigned or invalid boot-critical device driver
will cause a Stop error.
If you trust this driver and trying to install this unsigned driver, use /ForceUnsigned to override the requirement that drivers installed on X64-based computers must have
a digital signature. For example,
Dism /Image:C:\test\offline /Add-Driver /Driver:C:\drivers\mydriver.INF /ForceUnsigned

  • Deploying Custom Image with Answer File

    Hi everyone!
    I'm in the process of making a custom image for ~25 computers, using WAIK (no network so no MDT, WDS...). I followed Technet's "Step-by-Step: Basic Windows 7 Deployment for IT Professionals", and installed from original Win7 Ultimate Retail
    Media, with an answer file. Finally I customized that install and now have a properly set-up install, in audit mode and waiting to be generalized.
    I'd like to deploy this custom install with an answer file/configuration set, in order to auto-install some drivers and hardware-specific apps, answer typical questions, etc...
    But I must admit, I'm a bit unclear as to how to proceed from there. So I'm going to state how I understand it, and would love you to correct me where I'm wrong!
    On reference computer, run syprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown
    Boot to WinPE, capture image with ImageX
    Open the resulting custom.wim in WSIM, generate a catalog file
    Make Answer File + Configuration Set, copy them to the root of an empty UFD
    Replace the Original Win7 Media's install.wim with my custom.wim, make bootable UFD
    Deploy to other computers with the 2 UFD's
    Does that sound right to you? Am I missing something? Also, should I be running sysprep with a /unattend:xxx.xml switch (not sure how that works)?
    Bonus Question:
    I'd like to use the Answer File + Configuration Set to perform some silent installs via script. Could you point me to a relevant Technet (or 3rd party) resource for that?
    Thank you very much for reading ^^

    If you are doing the "replace install.wim" option, then you are installing using Setup. In this scenario, Setup will ignore the answer file specified in the image with the /unattend switch with Sysprep. So it would be unnecessary to prepare the
    image with that switch.
    Awesome! Thanks very much for clarifying the use of the /unattend switch with sysprep =)
    Anyways, I'd rather use an autounattend.xml in another UFD, which I can replace for any different hardware type, partition layout, etc...
    Also, the "replace install.wim" method is the only one I know. Are there others I should be aware of?
    Thanks!
    Hi,
    yes, the basic process is like what you said.
    Here is a guide which contains the video and text to tech you how to do the deployment.

    I'll definitely give it a read once I get a proper domain up and running at the office.

  • Can Packagemaker create installer with content files outside the bundle?

    I'm trying to create an installer with Packagemaker, but the content files need to be outside the final bundle because they're shared with a Windows installer.
    I thought I could create a symbolic link to the external folder, but instead of linking from the installer, it copied the files into the bundle. Any idea how to do this, or if it's even possible? I need to be able to do this on 10.3+, if that's relevant.
    (I can give a more specific scenario if this isn't clear enough)
    Thanks!

    The main issue I'd be worried about is that the external files (which are quite large) won't have the appropriate progress bar. The external files are around 1GB, while the internal files are in the 30MB range.
    How about installing a secondary installer with progress bar that copies these files from the correct location. Your postflight script can just kick off the newly installed file copier.
    How's this sound for a hack...
    Have a launcher script copy the installer to /tmp, then modify the package to point my files. (I'm installing from read-only media.) It would then open the modified installer which would pull my files from the DVD. This would probably work better (read: at all) if the files aren't compressed inside the package. Do you know if that's an option?
    No, sorry. The internals of a package are quite specific. You need PackageMaker itself to build them.
    Things like the receipts are non-essential at this point, only because if I can't get this to work then we will continue to use our terrible installer which leaves none of those things. Those shouldn't be too much trouble if I can get the rest to work.
    There are some 3rd party installers like Installer VISE. The sad part is that they tend to make the MacOS X Installer look good.
    If the guy responsible for that is interested I'll show him Inno Setup, but we have a working Windows installer, so he probably won't want to mess with it.
    I agree, but tell him about it anyway. The next time you have to build a Windows installer, he could use Inno Setup and get it done in a couple of hours and then have time to help with the mess that is software deployment on MacOS X.

  • WADK components & setting used for power management with answer file for windows 8.1 ent

    hello,
    I have to deploy windows 8.1 ent device with MDT answer file related to power management  with customized  following settings:
    High performances
    sleep timeout settings
    standby or sleep and hibernate setting
    Enable critical battery task.
    But don't know
    1. how to manage power settings using answer file (WADK) for win8.1.
    2. which OS Windows image component and setting used for power management in WADK.
    Thanks
    Richa Km

    The way I do it with my task sequences (this works with MDT as well as SCCM) is to have an exported power plan using the POWERCFG -EXPORT command.  I create a software package around the resulting *.POW file with a command do do an POWERCFG -IMPORT.
     I then issue a POWERCFG -SETACTIVE command to the GUID of the *.POW file to enable that power scheme.
    More information on the POWERCFG command can be found here:

    Hope that helps,

    First of all, you need to be using a project.  The project should include any source files and any other files you will want to include in your installer.
    Then you create a build specification for an executable.  Once that is built, make a build spec for the installer.  The installer should include any NI compenents you may need to run your program (like the Run-Time Engine).  You can also specify where files will be installed..

  • When installing Server 2008 Datacenter from disc, I get the error message "Windows could not parse or process the unattent answer file for pass [specialize].

    This is a clean install from s disc onto a 3TB GPT drive. This is for testing. I'm not concerned with finding a more practical solution for this installation.
    There is no image or answer file involved. But at the "Completing Installation" phase, I receive this error message about an answer file.
    Has anyone else expecrienced this problem? The only results I find here are regarding actual imaging with answer files.
    EDIT: [Redacted]
    EDIT 2: Since this now happens with every single installation of Server 2008 on this system, I feel the need to keep this open and elaborate on my situation.
    I originally installed Server 2008 on the 2TB partition of this 3TB drive. The partition type was MBR. I reinstalled it (there was a false alarm for malicious software) since it was a fresh install without updates or anything else installed. And for the
    second time, it installed fine.
    I decided to make the most of my 3TB drive and try GPT partitioning. So I went into the command prompt > diskpart > ran "clean" on the disk, then "convert GPT"
    That is when I tried another install of Server 2008 and received this error message about an answer file.
    I decided to convert it back to MBR and get on with what I wanted to test in the first place. So I went into Diskpart again, ran "clean", rand "convert MBR" and started the install. But this resulted in the same error message about an
    answer file.
    I went back to Diskpart, "clean"ed the disk, ran "convert dynamic" to make sure it was dynamic, then tried the install again, with the same result.
    Now, I've tried installing on the disk as GPT, MBR basic and MBR dynamic. I've tried a different installation disc, as well. I got the same result. At this point, I'm going to switch hard drives, but I'm still open to input. Thanks for reading!

    Hi,
    As you swapped the hard disk, whether the same issue occurs again if you redo the same steps?
    I asked "OEM or retail" because of this known issue:
    "Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]" error message when you perform an in-place upgrade in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2425962
    An answer file may already contain in the disc which causes the issue.
    If issue still exists you can click Shift + F10 during the installation process to see the log. Check if the installation error for detailed information.

  • WebLogic 9.2 - Replacing  apache_xbean.jar with the file xmlbeans-2.4.0.jar

    Hello All,
    I am a newbie in the forum.
    I have been using WebLogic9.2 for a while, but in my new company there was a unique request to replace the following files in WebLogic 9.2 installation.
    The development team wants to replace the:
    Original Jar:  bea\weblogic92\common\lib\apache_xbean.jar [This file comes along with the WebLogic 9.2 installation]
    with this file.
    Replaced Jar: bea\weblogic92\common\lib\xmlbeans-2.4.0.jar [This file has to be downloaded from apache.org website]
    The reason the developers want these file to be replaced is they are trying to generate xlsx reports from database and the new file works ok for them after replacing it with the old file.
    CAN WE REPLACE THE ORIGINAL FILE WITH THE NEW ONE.
    I am not sure of the consequences this would have on WebLogic performance and security.
    Can some one throw light on this.
    Regards,
    Kumar

    Hello Jaysen,
    As per your suggestions, I asked the developers to try the procedure....

  • Sysidcfg file for unattended installation with proper IP addressing

    Hi,
    I've been running jumpstart installation for several Sunfire V210 and V280Rs. I did use the following sysidcfg file but it's complaining regarding NOT finding Jumpstart Directory and subsequently fails to comply with rules file. Though the ./check verification did gave me a okay signal but the [I guess] ip addressing/subnet mask scheme is causing trouble. I'm in the same subnet. I happened to google a lot on this, almost everyone had problem with ip addresssing and subnet mask. With this current sysidcfg, the system prompted for default route, for once!
    Can someone please share a working sysidcfg file for an unattended installation?
    # my current sysidcfg file
    system_locale=en_US
    timezone=US/Central
    terminal=sun-cmd
    timeserver=localhost
    root_password=test
    network_interface=bge0 {netmask=255.255.0.0
    protocol_ipv6=no}
    security_policy=none
    name_service=none
    Initially I was using following directive; it couldn't find the jumpstart directory. I even tried removing "default_route", didn't help much.
    network_interface=bge0 {hostname=test1
                           default_route=10.1.1.253
                           ip_address=10.1.1.1
                           netmask=255.255.0.0
                           protocol_ipv6=no}
    Here is my log ...

    Heres the sysidcfg file we use
    system_locale=en_AU
    terminal=vt100
    security_policy=NONE
    name_service=DNS {domain_name=anu.edu.au name_server=150.203.1.10,130.56.4.1 search=anu.edu.au}

    timeserver=localhost
    timezone=Australia/NSW
    But it appears similar enough to what your using. But I can assure you that it works correctly.

  • Getting "Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]" with IE10 integration? Read this...

    Hey guys,
    I just discovered an issue with using MDT to integrate Internet Explorer 10 into Windows 7 & 2008 R2 image files. Building the images was no problem at all, but when I tried to deploy them it would bomb with this error every time:
    "Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]."
    So a very annoying and cryptic error to say the least. Obviously the issue was with the unattend.xml file that gets auto-generated by MDT, but all the items under "specialize" had worked just fine when I built the image and the IE version
    was the only item that had changed. After comparing the Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2 unattend.xml files to my Windows 8 & Server 2012 unattend.xml files (because they have IE 10 native) I discovered that the following flag was missing
    from the Windows 8 & Server 2012 unattend.xml files:
    <IEWelcomeMsg>false</IEWelcomeMsg>
    So I simply commented it out like so:
    Re-ran my test deployment and viola, 100% successful with zero errors. I was a little embarrassed/annoyed that this took me so long to track down, then I realized others might be struggling with this too so thought I'd share.
    Hope my time spent saves someone else some grief!

    I know the last reply was from a couple weeks ago, but honestly, I haven't been able to find anything else in the last week of searching Google. I'm new to the MDT process but I'm having the same issue with what you posted. I can shift-F10 during the "Applying
    system settings" and open my unattend.xml file and remove the IEWelcomeMsg line and the image deploys perfectly, so I know that's my problem. I can't figure out where that line is coming from. I have edited every unattend.xml file in the Templates folder under
    MDT and also the one in my deployment task sequence, but somewhere during that deployment, that one setting gets added back to the unattend file and nukes the whole image. I'm about to pull my hair out. I'm implementing MDT to save time but I feel like the
    last couple of weeks trying to get it to work have been a waste. I have thought about backing my reference image back to IE9, but having to deploy IE10 post image seems like it's an unnecessary burden. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Unattended instalation of 10g Client with response file

    Hello,
    I want to create a response File for an unattended installation, because installing 10g on 150 clients by hand is just to much work...
    I tried to create a rsp.-file with the record option, no dice.
    I managed to install the client runtime, but now I also need a custom installation with Oracle Windows Interface & Oracle Call Interface.
    Any suggestions?
    THX in advance

    @Madrid
    It tried to create a response file with "setup -record -responseFile C:\test.rsp", it records settings like the OraHome, but theres no entry about WHAT products I want to install, I heard that this is a known Bug in 10g Realse 2 10.2.0.1 ?
    @orafad
    our software developer told me we need the following components:
    Oracle Client Runtime
    Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server
    Oracle Objects for OLE
    Oracle ODBC Driver
    Oracle Provider for OLE DB
    Oracle Data Provider for .Net
    I tried to customize the clientcustom.rsp from the Oracle-CD, but I don't know what names I have to use for the things I need?
    e.g. oracle.rdbms.oci:10.2.0.1.0 for the Oracle Call Interface (OCI), but whats the name for Data Provider for .Net?? :(
    maybe somebody could post an recorded RSP-file?
    thanks for your help

  • Creating Unattended Answer Files

    I'm a newbie to unattended installs & answer files.  I'm hoping someone can help me with the understanding exactly how this works.  I know how to get the install to begin, but I'm stuck with the needed answer file.  I was hoping there
    was a generic answer file available, where I can just make changes to reflect my organization.

    HI
    YOu can download unattended.xml file from the belwo link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/cc732280(v=ws.10).aspx#ex1
    once downloaded
     You just need to named it as AutoUnattend.xml, make required modification and store it in one of the paths that setup.exe of windows Media folder.
    Thats it
