Dear Egor,
The defect only shows its ugly head when you put an Application View into a
namespace. Thus, the safest way to avoid this problem is to avoid using
namespaces; i.e. keep all your application views at the root.

Tomcat application undeploy problem
Hi all,
I have a problem using JavaMail in a web application using Tomcat 5.5.9 under Windows XP SP2. I can correctly send mails, both with and without attachments, but when I try to undeploy the app the mail.jar library remains "occupied" and Tomcat is unable to delete the app folder and undeploy it cleanly. The result is that I can't deploy new versions of the app until I stop the web server, delete the folder manually, and restart the server.
The library is located in the WEB-INF/lib folder of the application (togheter with the activation.jar library).
Doing some tests I noticed the problem is when I call the saveChanges() on a MimeMessage object, but only when I call the setText() method or the setContent() method adding a Multipart content to the message. If I only set recipients, subject and from field of the MimeMessage all goes well. I also tried to call the writeTo() method and save the message to a file instead of sending it, but the behaviour is the same.
Here is the piece of code I use to send e-mails...if anyone has any suggestion or solution it is very appreciated :) Thanks for any help!
Properties props = System.getProperties();
props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtp);
if(smtpAuth) props.put("mail.smtp.auth","true");
Session session;
Authenticator pwdAuth = null;
if(smtpAuth)
pwdAuth = new SMTPAuthenticator(user,pwd);
session = Session.getInstance(props, pwdAuth);
Address[] rec = new Address[recipients.size()];
int i = 0;
for(Iterator it = recipients.iterator();it.hasNext();) {
String d = (String)it.next();
try {
rec[i++] = new InternetAddress(d);
} catch(AddressException e) {
try {
Transport tran = session.getTransport("smtp");
if(smtpAuth)
tran.connect(smtp,user,pwd);
else
tran.connect();
MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session);
String mitt = this.emailAddress;
if(nick!=null)
message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(sender,nick));
else
message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(sender,senderAddress));
message.addRecipients(MimeMessage.RecipientType.TO,dest);
message.addHeader("X-Mailer","RT E-Mailer");
message.addHeader("X-Priority",priority);
message.setSubject(subject);
if(attach == null) {
message.setText(text);
} else {
Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
MimeBodyPart messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
messageBodyPart.setText(text);
multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
for(int j = 0; j < attach.length; j++) {
Attachment a = attach[j];
messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
DataSource source = new FileDataSource(a.getFilename());
messageBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(source));
messageBodyPart.setFileName(new File(a.getFilename()).getName());
multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
message.setContent(multipart);
message.saveChanges();
tran.sendMessage(message,dest);
tran.close();
ret = true;
} catch(SendFailedException e) {
ret = false;
} catch (Exception e) {
ret = false;
}Hi,
I have also the same problem. please help me if you find any way to resolve this issue.
Thanks,

Sun App Server 9.0_01 (build b14) Deployment (undeploy) problems
Hi all,
I apologize for this long post but I want to provide as much info as possible. Also, I am not sure this is the right place for this posting. I will appreciate it if anyone could direct me to a better place.
I have this ongoing problem deploying my application. The app server is unable to completely delete the previously deployed files. It goes into a series of timeout loops saying it is running the gc to try and free up resources. The files that can't be deleted are all in the web application's lib folder. I tried deleting them manually while waiting for the app server timeout loop and indeed each one is busy and can't be deleted. None of the files here are my code. The files are all in the folder:
domain1\applications\j2ee-apps\TS5529\U04A1_war\WEB-INF\lib
and the files are: appbase.jar, commons-fileupload.jar, dataprovider.jar, errorhandler.jar, jsfcl.jar, json2.jar, rowset.jar, sqlx.jar, webui-jsf.jar, webui-jsf-suntheme.jar
I have made sure destroy() method in my SessionBean nulls out any resources used, even variables containing injected EJBs but the problem remains.
The application is a NetBeans Enterprise application with a couple of Session Beans, Entity classes and Entity Facades. The presentation is JSF with Visual Web Pack and consists of two simple pages. The SessionBean holds a reference to a Stateful Bean and 4 variables each containing a custom ListDataProvider for JSF tables data binding. The SessionBean destroy method sets all of these variables to null.
The first page backing bean does most of the work. It accesses the SFSB and DataProviders through the SessionBean. This page includes four EJB injections like this:
@EJB AuthorFacadeLocal af;
@EJB PublisherFacadeLocal pf;
@EJB SearchDBLocal sDB;
@EJB TitleFacadeLocal tf;
and a variable holding an empty, unmanaged Entity object. I tried setting all of these to null in the page's destroy() method, which I don;t think I need to do.
Is there a problem with these injections in the page's backing bean?? I've been at this for about a week, trying various ways to make sure resources are freed but the problem still there. The only solution is to stop the app server and then deploy. Needless to say, it is a pain having to stop the app server every time I need to deploy.
Hope someone has seen this and can help, thanks in advance.Hi all,

ohh ....this works as there is a typo using the "undeploy" task.
BUT BUT BUT....i have a question here: when it worked, the task basically deleted
the files from all the manage server's stage directory. WHY does "undeploy"
= delete !!!undeploy removes the application from the domain. ie it's as if it was
never there.

Moreover, the stage directory was containing my ias.ear file to be in a exploded
form ....WHY is this so ????? ....why not in .ear format ?If you deploy an archived .ear file, the server will extract this, but
that's just an implementation detail. It's not really exposed to the
server.
AND WHY does this .ear file doesn't go to <domain-name>/applications directory
anymore ?The applications directory is used in single-server deployment
environments where you want the server to poll a directory and
auto-deploy anything added there. It's not useful or allowed in
multiple server production environments.

I have two webapps (in different wars) deployed under the same AS server instance. They both use some shared jar & dll.
When I try undeploy one of them another one is undeployed too. What's wrong? Hot to undeploy/redeploy them separatly?These jar & dll files are represent shared component used by another programs. So I cannot put jar file to each lib directory. Instead I specify this jar in jvm options for this AS server instance, and then add custom property that locates this shared dll.
Shared jar reads this property and loads dll.
All native calls in this dll are intendent to be used from different part of some program under same jvm process. -
Problem with auto-UNdeployment
Hi,
I would know how can I undeploy an application which was copied in 'autodeploy' folder?
I copied test.jar in 'autodeply' folder when the server was running. Test.jar was deployed well. But I can't delete a Test.jar from 'autodeploy' folder because Windows Error "deleting file or folder" occurs.
Is there a way to delete archives from 'autodeploy' folder while server is running?
Many Thanks
PavelHi
The problem is caused by console. If the application is expanded in the web browser console the archive can't be deleted.
To delete an archive from autodeploy folder, the console must be closed and open again. Then can the archive be deleted.
Best regards

Problem Undeploying a PAR file
Hi,
Let me first give the history of this problem.
I wrote a small portal application and created a par file named RoyaltiesService.par and tried to deploy it from NWDS, but NWDS got stuck and i was not able to deploy the par file. I also realised that my portal server stopped and my efforts to start the server have gone in vain. Please see the details of that problem at <Re: Problem with protal server>
So after trying to solve the problem for few days I reformatted my machine and reinstalled the portal now. I was able to deploy other par files and everthing worked fine, but now I tried to deploy the same par file RoyaltiesService.par (the one that i tried to deploy when the problem occurred for the first time) and the same problem reoccurred i.e., my NWDS got stuck, portal server stopped and i am unable to start it. I am wondering whether my par file has something to do with this. I thought of undeploying the par file from the SDM console but i am not able to find that RoyaltiesService.par file. Then i did a search for the par file in my c:usrsap and found the following results. (File/Folder name - location)
-> RoyaltiesService - C:usrsapJ2EJC00j2eeclusterserver0appssap.comirjservlet_jspirj

-> RoyaltiesService.revision - C:usrsapJ2EJC00j2eeclusterserver0appssap.comirjservlet_jspirj

-> RoyaltiesServicecore.jar - C:usrsapJ2EJC00j2eeclusterserver0appssap.comirjservlet_jspirj

Now i want to remove this par file from the deployment. Can anyone suggest me how to do it ??
Any help will be very very helpful to me.
Thanks & Regards,
SudhirHi,
You cannot remove from the file system, because the application is deployed to the PCD (Application Repository), which then replicates the application to all the cluster nodes.
You have to use the Archive Remover tool. Did you try?
Even if you cannot get the portal interface, if you can log in and create a session, you can navigate to the archive remove and remove the application.
Hope this helps.

Problems Undeploying on Application Server
I am having problems with the "asant undeploy" command because after I try to re-deploy a .war file, I get the error message below in the servers log. I'm guessing the original undeploy was not completed successfully despite what it says at the command line.

SOAP Undeploy / Security-Problem?
Hi,
I know there is a security problem with Apache-Soap, since
everybody can list and undeploy services with the
RPCRouterServlet. Therefore I've dropped the RPCRouter out of my
Servlet-Engine and use the MessageRouter only.
How can I avoid this problem with Oracle-SOAP to prevent other
users to use the undeploy-function?
Thanks,
AlexSoni,

Hi,
I'm having problems undeploying ADF Faces from Tomcat. The problem is intermittent though pretty frequent (1 in 3 times)
After I undeploy using either the Tomcat Manager or ant, the file 'adf-faces-impl-ea13.jar' remains in the WEB-INF\lib directory. The file is locked until I reboot Tomcat.
I am using Tomcat 5.0.28.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
I have migrated a J2ee application to NetWeaver. It is working fine once I deploy it for the first time. I can run the application any number of times. That is fine. If I redeploy the application ear, then the application is not working. Same is the case if I undeploy and deploy it again. But this problem gets solved if I restart the server and deploy the application. But this is not a solution. I can't restart everytime if I want to deploy the application. Can anyone please suggest the possible cause for this?
Regards,
Harini SCan't find a reason. Think it is problem with retrieving the value from config.ini file. Don't understand why but for now, restarting of server helps.

Problem in undeploy in version 9.0
I am Using Sun Java System Application Server 9.0 on solaris 10.0
I can deploy an web application but at the time of un deploy it stops the server.
How can I undeploy the web application.This is rather unusual issue, you might want to file a bug against glassfish with a testcase attached.
Speaking of manual undeployment, it should involve removing application entries from instance's domain.xml file as well as removing actual application files and resources from instance's 'applications' directory. -
Problem undeploying/deploying application through command line
Apologies for the newbie question - I've already trawled through the
online help, but to no avail.
I'm trying to uninstall an earlier .ear file and installing a newer
one - however, the code below in my batch file doesn't work:
java weblogic.Deployer -user admin -password holland
C:\bea\user_projects\hypotheekplanner\woscb.ear -name woscb -targets
woscb.ear@wos -undeploy
wzunzip -o C:\distribution\woscb.ear C:\distribution\war
wzunzip -o C:\distribution\war\woscb.war C:\distribution\ear
copy /y C:\distribution\web_xml\woscb\web.xml C:\distribution\ear
del /Q C:\distribution\war\woscb.war
wzzip C:\distribution\war\woscb.war C:\distribution\ear\*.*
wzzip C:\bea\user_projects\hypotheekplanner\woscb.ear
C:\distribution\war\woscb.war
del /Q C:\distribution\war\*.*
del /Q C:\distribution\ear\*.*
java weblogic.Deployer -user admin -password holland -stage -source
C:\bea\user_projects\hypotheekplanner\woscb.ear -name woscb -targets
woscb.war@wos -deploy
Note that the whole unzip/zip operation is for making sure the
application properties (as defined in web.xml) do not have to be
adjusted through the console panel.
So what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any pointers,
MartinMartin:
Ok, so your going to use batch........ I am not sure how much community your
going to get around this, not because people don't want to help but because
95% of all java projects use ANT to do this very thing, there just isn't a
knowledge base around using batch and commandline winzip tools. Writing
"scripts" that automate deployment is a "good thing", its just that the tool
of choice for most of the community is ANT, not batch.
So consequently I am having a little bit of a hard time trying to follow
what your are attempting to do.
java weblogic.Deployer -user admin -password holland
C:\bea\user_projects\hypotheekplanner\woscb.ear -name woscb -targets
woscb.ear@wos -undeployAre you specifying targets because you really do in this case have more than
one target (wos) defined? Additionally the syntax of "<component>@<server
N>>" only applies to components INSIDE an ear, if your deploying/undeploy
the entire ear you don't need the component, all you need is "-targets wos".
Perhaps attaching your config.xml will help.
Can you restate your goal?
Is it to update the settings of web.xml in a war that is in an ear and
redeploy? You don't have to do an undeploy to achieve this, just
a -deploy(-activate) will work on an existing deployment, if the application
is already deployed, it -deploy/-activate will do a re-deploy/activate.
I really dont follow this at all not being familiar with wzunzip.
>
wzunzip -o C:\distribution\woscb.ear C:\distribution\warWhy are you unzipping the contents of .ear into the directory war?
wzunzip -o C:\distribution\war\woscb.war C:\distribution\earWhy are you unzipping the contents of .war into the directory ear?
copy /y C:\distribution\web_xml\woscb\web.xml C:\distribution\ear
del /Q C:\distribution\war\woscb.war
wzzip C:\distribution\war\woscb.war C:\distribution\ear\*.*
wzzip C:\bea\user_projects\hypotheekplanner\woscb.ear
C:\distribution\war\woscb.warWhat is this line c:\distribution\war\woscb.war doing? is this something
meant to be on the previous line?
del /Q C:\distribution\war\*.*
del /Q C:\distribution\ear\*.*
java weblogic.Deployer -user admin -password holland -stage -source
C:\bea\user_projects\hypotheekplanner\woscb.ear -name woscb -targets
woscb.war@wos -deployHere the component would be necessary/required/useful since the war file is
what your trying to update.
Why are you using -stage is this because the server "wos" is a managed
server, if so -stage is the default for managed servers and uncessary. If
you only have one server and it is "wos", then it is the admin server and
you dont want to pass -stage.
To help this all out a small, isolated, simplified, reproducible test case
might help.
Something along the lines of an examples.zip I can download and do:
1) cd /temp
2)jar xvf example.zip
3) cd user_projects\
4) deploy.bat (which deploys test.ear)
-I can go hit the web-app in the browser to "see" something in web.xml that
is the first version.
5) update.bat (which attempts to update the web.xml in the webapp and
redeploy)
-I can go hit the web-app in the browser to "see" something in web.xml that
is the updated version.
I could cook this up in ANT, but that wont help you. ;)
cheers

It doesn't work in that it doesn't deploy the new ear file - contained
therein is a version.html file with the build number, if I look up the
file in a browser it shows up the old build number instead of the
build number of the file I just tried to deploy. So why?
And we prefer to do it batchwise, and we're not going to switch to 8.1
anytime soon.
Martin
Ok, so the next question is why doesnt it work? What is the error/stack
trace?
As a suggestion I would reccomend using ANT vs. batch files.
And 8.1 has a lot of new stuff to help you out.

I'd expect all the control characters to be stripped if this option is set.
