"Untag Frame" menu action is invalid [CS5 Win XP]

Hi All,
var myMenuAction = app.menuActions.item("$ID/Untag Frame");
After launching my indesign Application by default "Untag Frame" menu action is invalid. After I select a text frame and right click it manually this is menu action gets valid.
If any work around through script itself, please suggest me.

I can click it in the UI, but therefore it's not necessarily part of the menu actions.
Jongware's suggestion is working in my test case:
app.selection[0].associatedXMLElement.untag();
My suggestion for untagging is okay, if you want to use menu actions:
First select the object and then:
app.menuActions.itemByID(78612).invoke();
My test case consists of a single rectangle autotagged and selected.
If that is not working for you, I think we just need a test IDML for playing around…

Go To Frame Label action

Please help!! I have a drop-down menu that I created inside a
movie clip. Each drop down has a button behind it. What I am trying
to do is make it so when each button behind each menu item is
clicked it goes to a particular frame (label) on the Main time
line. I can set the "get URL" action to each button and it works,
but it won't let me apply the "go to frame label" action. I am
stumpped because when I go through the process and select the right
scene then pick frame label the label I created is recognized in
the drop down. But when I go to test it it does nothing...
In short... I want to add a "go to frame label" action to a
button inside my "drop-down" movie clip that goes to a frame label
on the Main timeline.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yes, the actionscript you should use is just as you listed.
give each frame a unique label so there's only one "dom". there
should not be one "dom" in scene 1 and one "dom" in scene 2.
if there was a situation where you wanted to use "dom" in
scene 1 and "dom" in scene 2, use "scene1_dom" and "scene2_dom" or
something else easy to remember and suggestive.
i dont understand your question unless you're clicking that
plus sign in the actions panel. you can find the goto function
under global functions/timeline control. but you should use the
timeline or movieclip method: _root.gotoAndPlay() and
_root.gotoAndStop().

Bullet problem when creating text frames and tables in InDesign CS5

Every time I create a new text frame or table in InDesign CS5 and paste information there, the first row in the table or several lines of text come out with bullet points. I'm sure this is a setting or style at some point I created and now am unsure of how to delete. I would like the new text frames and tables to not include bullet points as a default when imported or pasted. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Defaults for text in the current document are made with no text selected. Turn off bullets and they should stay off (but check the styles, too, you might have accidentally set a bulleted style as the defualt and you should change the default style instead). If this is happening in all files, you need to do it with nothing open to reset the default for all new documents (existing files, unfortunately, need to be fixed one at a time).

No search menu topic in photoshop cs5

im new here, and I'm from Germany, so sorry for my english..
I upgraded from CS 4 Design Premium to CS5 Design Premium this week,
after that I'm missing the blue search topic at the help menu item in Photoshop CS5.
Any idea ?
I have OSX 10.6.6 on a iMAC.
In all other applications like Illustrator on Indesign the search menu topic works well.
My Photoshop Help look like this (German Version)
But it should have this blue search topic like Indesign

CS5 / Win - Debug: Treeview crash

Hi
I try to implement a list box in a dialog, not a panel, using tree view. This works in CS3, CS4 and CS5 (Win - release, Mac debug and release). But it crashs with Windows - debug. It crash if I includes the tree view manager in my fr file. If I remove this manager, it doesn't crash, but of course the tree view is empty. I removed all other stuff from my plugin, but if I open the dialog it still crashs.
Any ideas waht I can do?
Any hints, where I can have a look?

Second thought - I haven't done much plugin development in the past year: why would you overload that interface at all?
You typically feed it from some kind of observer, in a straightforward match of tree model changes.
Most of the time that will be something with "lazy" in its name.
If you want those notifications, just hook a different observer to the same model.

Difference in action menu , infotype menu, actions

Actions - YOu organisation will have certain events which will be performed during the employees life term in that company, such as Hiring, Transfer, promotion etc. These u will configure in PM--> PA --> Customising procedure --> Actions > setup personnel actions. After u configure actions, you will configure the infotype menu, i.e the infotypes you need to maintain for each actions. For eg: for Hiring you wil definitly need IT00, 01, 02 etc..and these infotypes will be executed in a sequence. So you wil create an infogroup and assign these infogroups to actions. PM> PA --> Customising procedure --> Actions --> Define Infogroups. These infogroups will be define in IGMOD.
Infotype Menu - This is what you will configure for PA30. For each tabs such as "Basic Employee data", Contract Data, Planning data, you wil decide what infotypes should be visible under it. Path: PM--> PA -->Customising procedure --> Infotype menu
Action menu - This is the menu which will get displayed in pa40 screen. The actions you configure for your enterprise wil be displayed here.
Note: the reference user group no. which you will maintain for action menu and infotype menu will have to be given in the UGR in User parameter

Greatly reduced action performance in CS5

Concise problem statement: reduced performance in Action processing in CS5 compared to CS3
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Create an image file, 8000 by 9880 pixels 16-bit RGB color.
2. The background can be any image, though I was using a scan of a test target with colored patches for scanner calibration.
3. Create a layer "final target" on top of the background. Set contents to transparent.
4. Create a selection 295 pixels on a side with rectangular marquee tool. Position this selection in the upper left corner.
5. Save the selection to an alpha channel "Grid Box."
6. Run an action with the following steps.
a. Load the selection "Grid Box."
b. Select the layer "final target"
c. Expand the selection 2 pixels.
d. Fill the selection with the foreground color.
e. Set the foreground color to white.
f. Select the background layer.
g. Move the selection 295 pixels to the right.
h. Save the new selection as "Grid Box", replacing the channel.
The use of this action:
Use the eyedropper tool to select a color from the center of the selected square, then use the magic wand tool to subtract from the selection using the color in the center of the square in contiguous mode with tolerance set to 8. Then run the action, and repeat the above process in the next selected square. In the scan I am preparing, there is a grid of colored squares surrounded by a large black border. The final result needs the black border eliminated so that the colored squares completely butt up against each other spaced 295 pixels apart.
So by running the action, the color in the center of each box is copied to fill the rest of the square selected area that's black, leaving the center portion intact. The copied colors go on the "final target" layer so the background layer is not disturbed.

Results: In CS5 the action is unusable due to the long run time.
Expected results: In CS3 it works perfectly.

My theory initially was that you had given Photoshop just enough RAM to work efficiently with your CS3 setup, but perhaps because of differences in your Photoshop RAM setting or perhaps because Photoshop CS5 has more code in memory, it's starving for RAM under the same test, and goes to its scratch file for relief.
I created a test image and tried your action with a stopwatch.
Photoshop CS5 x64 on Windows 7 x64 (i.e., with plenty of RAM) takes 1.8 seconds to run through your action.
Photoshop CS5 32 bit consistently takes 6.8 seconds to go through the same steps. Notably it stalls on the Expand and Select layer "Background" steps for a few seconds each, where it blazed right through them in the 64 bit version.
In my case I have given Photoshop CS5 2897 MB to work with (89%). This number is larger on a 64 bit system than what you can set because Photoshop 32 bit can use up to a 3 GB address space.
I'll do tests next with earlier versions of Photoshop.

Photoshop CS5 (Win) crossgrade to CS6 (Mac)

Hello there,
I've done a bit of research here and elsewhere and I haven't found a complete and current answer. I currently have PS CS5 on my Windows PC (educational discount) and just pulled the trigger on a Mac desktop and I'm planning to switch platforms over time if this works out for me.
It's my undestanding that I should be able to crossgrade from CS5 Win to CS6 Mac. But I'm not quite sure how to do that and how much that will be. Also I'm unclear if that option went away now that things have moved to CC - which I will absolutely and 100% never ever sign up for independent of how cheap they'll make it.
So, can I still do the crossgrade to CS6? And if so how?

Menu Actions: eventType question. JS

Hi,
(1) How would I add an eventListener for a given menu action that kicks
in when the menu is dismissed?
Eg
myMenuAction.addListener("onInvoke", function(){alert("Hello");});
adds a listener when it is invoked. But what would be the eventType for
"dismiss"?

The basic concept to grock is the "box model".
Basically an app can be looked at as nested boxes -- boxes within boxes. In InDesign terms, the outermost box is the application, inside that is a document, inside that are layout windows. Inside that are all the objects.
UI Events generally have two phases. There's the capture phase and the bubbling phase.
When you click on something (for example), the click is "captured" from the outermost box inward. So it's first captured by the application, then the document, then the layout window, etc.

Let's say we have a "move" event on page items (which does not exist). If we attach listener to all the boxes, the innermost ones will be executed first. If bubbling can be canceled, the inner boxes can prevent the event from bubbling out to the outer boxes.
AFTER_CLOSE refers to windows or documents. The event can be attached to the app because it bubbles out to the app. Not that you can listen for an AFTER_CLOSE event for the app itself...

[Exchange-Online][EWS][c#][Windows 8.1] When creating appointment using impersonation "Set action is invalid for property" error occurs.

I have an Outlook add-in that creates appointments to a load of Office 365 calendars. It used to work well but suddenly I have hit a problem.
The basic calling code is
Appointment appointment = new Appointment(exchangeService);
appointment.Subject = subject;
appointment.Body = body;
appointment.Location = location;
appointment.IsAllDayEvent = allDay;
appointment.LegacyFreeBusyStatus = LegacyFreeBusyStatus.Busy;
appointment.IsOnlineMeeting = false;
appointment.Save(SendInvitationsMode.SendToNone);
This still works fine on my own Office 365 mailbox but if I switch to another, using Impersonation, the Save line now throws the error "Set action is invalid for property."
There does not seem to be a problem with impersonation. The line
exchangeService.ImpersonatedUserId = new ImpersonatedUserId(ConnectingIdType.SmtpAddress, selectedUserEmail);
runs OK and afterwards the exchangeService's ImpersonatedUserID gives the correct email address.
If I look at the appointment object in the Watch window immediately after the line that creates it has run I can see that most of the properties have an entry like:
appointment.AdjacentMeetingCount' threw an exception of type 'Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ServiceObjectPropertyException'.
Also, several properties including Subject are not listed in the expanded appointment object in the Watch window.
However, entering appointments.Subject explicitly in the Watch window does give the correct result.
I have used the floating watch to check the value of each property straight after it is set and each one is as expected.
I am at a loss as to what to check next and would be grateful for all ideas.

Thanks for the reply Jason. I did as you suggested and found that it was the IsOnlineMeeting that caused the problem. Once that was commented out everything worked as expected. On checking I see that this property is ReadOnly for everyone except the
organizer of the meeting. Clearly the Impersonate role is not regarded as the organiser.
I don't think it is going to matter so long as the user in whose calendar the appointment is created has fully access to the appointment, which seems to be the case.

téléchargé le logiciel depuis le site internet, l'ai
supprimé, réinstallé depuis le CD, supprimé
également les bibliothèques, mais rien n'y fait.
Même lorsque j'ouvre flash et ouvre un nouveau document,
ça plante dès lors que j'essaye de faire "actions". J'ai
quitté tous les logiciels (également les polices), mais
toujours pareil. Y'aurait-il une mise à jour quelque part
???

I had this exact same problem - took me ages to work it out!
Make sure each of your main menus eg home, products shipping
etc are on seperate layers. This helped with mine, but its still a
little bit 'buggy'.

Feather error in Illustrator CS4, CS5 (Win)

Yes, my message got posted before I intended - sorry :-o
Then I lost my edit. Trying again...
I'm having trouble applying a 5 pt feather via the Effect>Stylize menu to a closed path with a 17% transparent magenta fill: keep getting the message "an error occurred while processing the appearance of an object".
All of the other similar, but smaller objects in the file which have less nodes don't cause the error when I feather them, so I wonder if there's something odd about this particular object (the largest one with the most nodes) that's provoking the error. Or if there's some kind of node/path limit for feathering.
I get the same error if I try applying a feather to the same object when it has 100% magenta opacity; just upgraded from CS4 to CS5 and nothing has changed.
