Unzip files from FTP using ABAP

Hi All,
I have the a requirement to unzip certain files from ftp and transfer the extracted files to another directory in ftp.
Searched (Re: Unzip file;) in SDN but didnt find the perfect solution
Appreciate the help.

dont you have used the os user while calling the FTP_CONNECT FM?
Hope you are not talking about the user executing the FTP program.
Else If you are talking about the FTP file creator then its not related to abap as you can handle it by maintaining the user in file name itself.
May be i am going too far with if and elses here as your question possesses no clarity.
Plz elaborate your requirement before anybody can help.

Reading .txt file from remote using abap?

Hi,
I must read a .txt file from remote server automatically.
I have path and name of .txt file. Remote system asks username and password.
In abap is it possible to give username and password for reading .txt from remote server?
Remote server and sap server are not in same domain.
How can i do that?

You can try using the FM RZL_READ_FILE_REMOTE_SH.
This is an option i found , but i have really not tried it out .

Yes I have done that. But In FTP Server I cannt read file, because no previliges. Only I need to copy file from FTP Server to local server then only I can read that file.
I tried all options using FileConrol(getFiles(),read()).
getFiles() - It wont copy the file, it give information about file.
read() - I dont have previliges to read the file.
Please tell me any other procedure would be there for getting file from FTPServer.

Zip files from FTP server using BODS 4.1

HI Friends,
My requirement: Move zip files from FTP server to Target server using Data services.
The zip files( variable) are loaded daily into a directory in an FTP server, I need to establish a connection to the FTP server and get the zip files into BODS Environment. Can anyone please list out the steps to get the connection from FTP to BODS?
My Environment : BODS 4.1 SP1

2. call Exec command
3. write simple script move file to whatever your location

PI needs to obtain a zip file via FTP using the File adapter

I have a scenario where PI needs to obtain a zip file via FTP using the File adapter, this zip file contains a number of txt files that I need to process, and the content of one of them send it to an ECC, now I'm using the PayloadZipBean Module in the Sender FIle Adapter, and I have two things if I use the Message Protocol as File, I get a Payload for each txt file in the zip file, but this payload has no structure, and if I use the File Content Conversion I get an XML strcuture with only one field and a strange string in it, and somewhere in this string the names of the files I assume all the content of the zip file, can anyone help on how could I achieve what I need that is to pull the zip file via SAP PI, then unzip it, and with the content of one of the txt files send it to an ECC via ABAP Proxy, thanks in advance for your answers.

you can do it in futher way ...
pickup zip file and simply extract and dump it in another temp folder (can use scripts on OS level).
@ then Use another sender communication channel to pickup all these text file .

am using the FTP_SERVER_TO_R3 to read xls file from FTP server to internal table
but the data i get in LT_TEXT is special characters.

Hi, if you really retrieve an excel file, you can not see the data in ABAP. You may see them in Excel. For this you may use
CALL METHOD document->open_document_from_table
of the interface i_oi_document_proxy for OLE objects. You can access the data with reference to the interface i_oi_spreadsheet.

But, who knows, perhaps you want "And Now For Something Completely Different".

My requirement is to send a file from FTP to D3(External) server.
Now I am able to store the file in Appln server.
I want to send the file created by the program thru FTP to D3 server.
I know the username,Password,HostID,RFC destination details.
How to send the file from FTP to D3.
If u have any program,Plz send it...
I dont want the function modules name...I want the example code ....

Hi Sumi,
You could do it so that you create a .bat or .cmd script to your server which does your ftp transfer.
To do this you must use sm69 to create a external operating system command which you can call from FM SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE. To SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE you the file you need to transfer as a parameter.
What happens is that your abap program passes the file to windows batch script (.bat .cmd) which will then do the transfer for you.
Here's a sample of ftp-script for windows:
echo open IP_ADDRESS_TO_YOUR_SERVER > c:zftp_transfer.ftp
echo USERNAME>> c:zftp_transfer.ftp
echo PASSWORD>> c:zftp_transfer.ftp
echo put YOUR_FILE>> c:zftp_transfer.ftp
echo quit>> c:zftp_transfer.ftp
ftp -s:c:zftp_transfer.ftp

Ok, this might be a bit trivial but if your server is unix/aix etc.. Instead of using batch script you must do a shell script.

How to copy/send text file from FTPS to SAP ECC File Port

I am working on one design, actually my requirement as follows
I am receiving financial information document from Banks, which is in the form of BIA2 message format, it looks like text file. This information needs to be sending to SAP ECC system.
I identified some approaches to full fill the requirement
1)Using Conversion agent/or third party tools to convert BIA2 message in to XML, then using PI I will pick up the XML message, convert it in to IDoc.
2)Without any conversion I will copy the same file (original BIA2 message) in to SAP ECC file port, in this case no conversion required, calling some program I will schedule it.
I am looking forward t implement the second approach because it saves lot of money to my client.
Now I am wondering using File adapter can i copy to SAP ECC File Port or I required ABAP proxy?
What is the best approach to copy the BIA message text file from FTPS to SAP ECC File Port.??

Yes you can do this copy, the only restriction that can happen is the file size.. If you are sure that the fiel will be of few MB at the max then you can use the Configuration part alone and copy it to ECC folder. For doing this you need the following:
1. Sender agreement (mention the sender interface as anything XYZ)
2. Sender communication channel. Pick the file in binary mode
3. Receiver determination (keep both the sender and receiver service as same)
4. Interface Detemiantion (dont specify any mapping and keep the receiver interface name as XYZ)
5. Create receiver agreement (with same service and interface)
6. Use file adapter here

Upload files from FTP server

Hi Friends,
We are loading some files from FTP server into the BW (Datasource)
In the infopackage we have given the setting as 'Load from application server' and have given the file path as it is in application server. No routine has been created.
Files are successfully loading from FTP server to the BW datasource.
My question is:
In the infopackage we have only maintained that it should be loaded from application server and the file path.
But how the system(infopackage) gets to know that from which server(FTP) it should pick. Is there any table to maintain these entries. i.e when infopackage is scheduled it only pings the required server and picks the file with the help of given file path.But how does it know which server it should ping.

Hello Niku,
It seems in your case you have only one FTP, and the system is pointing by default to that FTP and picking the required files fro your Info Package.
Normally a Standard ABAP Program RSFTP002 is used to communicate to the FTP Server with the help of RFC . In the Same program you can maintain the credentials ( USerName and password) along with the Source and Destination related properties .
Back to your query , you can check the same in above program ( RSFTP002 ) through SE38 and cross verify your FTP .

Use the below code to check if you have received the proper data.

If the data is incorrect, it is possible that you are in the wrong directory.
Use
