Update Date in OITM table
Hi Experts
I would like to run a query on OITM ti show me all the items which have been updated on todays date.
I need to run it from SQL Server Management Studio
i have tried the WHEN updatedate = getdate() and although the query runs succesfully I don't get any results.
It could be something to do with how the date is formatted in SQL which is in US format (eg 04-02-2011 00:00:00:000) and perhaps the getdate function is bring the UK date?

You don't need to run it under Management Studio. Try run it under B1:
SELECT * FROM OITM
WHERE DateDiff(DD,UpdateDate, GetDate()) < 1

I can edit the view in SQL Manager, so it seems strange that it fails.

Efficient way of updating data to database table
what is the efficient way of updating data to database table .
i have huge amount of data in my internal table , how to use update statement in this case .
1. database table having 20 fields ,
2. one is key field and suppose 20 th field i want to change .
3. I have data for only 2 fields , i.e for ( 1 st and last 20 th field ) .
i can't use update statement in loop , as it is not good practice(hits database several times ) .
do it effects all the 20 fields for particular record .Hi,

I am trying to code a way to Update my Testing database from another database. In the coding below the database that has the updated data ends in Restore.
Use ClientDB_MASTER_Restore
Truncate Table ClientDB_MASTER_Testing.dbo.Activity_Tracking_AZ

SELECT * INTO ClientDB_Master_Testing.dbo.Activity_Tracking_AZ
FROM Activity_Tracking_AZ

I know with this Technique the table must be truncated if not deleted first. There is probably a better way to do this which I'm very open to. I'm also looking for coding that will roll back any changes made should an error occur.

If you find it boring to type the column lists, just find the table in Object Explorer, and drag the columns node to where you want the column list.
You need the SET IDENTITY_INSERT command if the table has an IDENTITY column.
By wrapping the code in a transaction, you are not left with an empty table if the INSERT fails. The command SET XACT_ABORT ON makes sure that the batch is aborted and rolled back in case of an error.

Issue while insert and update data to DB tables

i am having an issue while insert the data to DB table.
my scenario is DB1 to DB2. i had a sender channel with select query which fetches data from DB1 and inserts to DB2.
so the select query will fetch the records that were INSERTED to DB1 and records that were UPDATED to DB1 and needs to insert/update to DB2 table.
Now the issue is i am able to insert the records but not able toupdate the records to DB2 table due to primary key issue.
im message mapping

i have done the following changes to target mapping structure;
1. action as UPDATE_INSERT
2. in access tab, i had mapped fieldDate to field4.
3. in Key tab, i assigned the sysdate to field4.
but issue still exist. could you please check my above changes are correct or not. if wrong please provide me the details that needs to be done.

Is necessary find the old record in the table and pass through all records or can i save data only for this record without pass through?Hello,
SetValue will update the DBDataSource but as it's a UI object, it doesn't save it to the table. Note that since SBO 2004, if you work with Matrix, you can use FlushToDataSource instead of going thru each row of the matrix.
If you want to save only the record 1000, I think you'll have to use a trick, save in memory which record you modified to then update the table.
Or update the data when the value is validated in the matrix.

My requirement is to Extract R3 Data to CVS file without using BI.
For this reason, I thought to make extractor using SE38 which will fetch data directly from Application tables using their 'Updated Date' as the main field for Delta purpose.
Could you pls. let me know that Do all R3 Tables have 'Updated Date' or 'changed Date' field?

Not only the field presence will solve your problem but you will have to check whether this field is getting used or not, so you have to do two way checking,
1) Goto SE11 and check if there is any field which holds change date or change time stamp etc.
2) And then check the content of the table through SE16 or from SE11 contents button and make sure that the field is in use.
Otherwise you will not be able to extract the delta.

The same code to insert / update the exact same table in local instance works fine.No any binding problem. So i am pretty sure all ? mark in SQL are set with some value before sending to Oracle.
Someone please advise what is possible problem. Db link is not set correctly? or we can not update remote table by dblink.
By the way i can do insert / update from TOAD to the remote table through DBLINK. Problem happens only in Java code.

Garydblink links from one database instance to another.
So it is certainly a source of possible problems when it works on one database and not another.
You should start by looking at the dblink and it possible testing it in the database not via java.
Note as well that that error suggests that it is coming from the Oracle database. I believe if you had a bind parameter problem in your java code that the error would come from the driver. But that is a guess on my part. -

Newbie: GUI front end to update data in a table
Hi: I have some tables in a oracle database to which I want to provide a web based GUI that end users can update, delete and add new records. Is there an application (preferably freeware) that can do this? Basically the user interface should show the current list of records and allow user to delete existing records or add new records.

RayThis is not a Web interface, but SQL Developer can be used without any Oracle client installation, just a runtime.
And you have iSQL*Plus which allow you to run any query, almost like the overknown SQL*Plus.
By the way, why did you want to allow all your users to modify data without any application ? You may have some problem of data inconsistency for the business logic, if the data are updated without any application code.

Correcting the record from PSA is temporary solution depends on u r criticality....
Only Solution is to correct the record at source system level... Generally Material master data record is imp so just try to fix temporarily so that it vl not affect u r loads until it is corrected at Source System level..
Note: inform the problem to u r co-ordinator and try to correct it ASAP... and explain the temp solution(PSA correction)...

1. I create 2 table in database

2. At tb_closed_order, I create trigger type after insert
When I insert new record, This trigger is fire to update tb_order

if you use ADF BC then the first test is to run the VO in the ADF BC tester to see if this works. If it does work here then this means that the business logic is functioning. If using ADF Faces with ADF, then its not enough to re-execute the iterator if this isn't done through ADF .The UI needs to be partially refreshed using PPR. So when you press a command button, this should trigger a refresh of the table component

Update Date Field in Table Row to SysDate
This appears to be an easy thing to do, but I can't figure out the best way to do it.
I have a table with 2 input text boxes and some output text boxes. When either input text box changes for a row, I need to update the date in one of the output text boxes in the same row to the current date. Then, when I commit the changes, the database should show the current date for that date field in that record.

I figure the RowImpl class is being instantiated when the table loads. Is there a method in the RowImpl class that gets called when a row is changed? Should I have an action on my submit button that scrolls through all rows to see if any are dirty and update the date from there?

I need to update the columns of UPD_TEST1 with some values from UPD_TEST2 based on some conditions.
i wanted to update multiple rows at a time.Can it be done using one query..

I have dome some search and got the following query but it can update only one record at a time
UPDATE upd_test1
SET ( t1_col2,t1_col3) =(SELECT t2_col2,t2_col3 FROM upd_test2 WHERE t2_col1 =2)
the following query won't work
UPDATE upd_test1
SET ( t1_col2,t1_col3) =(SELECT t2_col2,t2_col3 FROM upd_test2 WHERE t2_col1 IN (2,3))
ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row
I wanted to update multiple records at a timebit weird approach though, but you could try merge
SQL> Select * From Upd_Test1;
T1_COL1 T1_COL2 T1_COL3
1 raji sis
2 manju sis
3 chinnu sis
SQL> Merge Into Upd_Test1 A Using Upd_Test2 B
2 On (a.T1_Col1 = b.T2_Col1 and b.t2_col1 in (2,3))
3 When Matched Then
4 Update Set
5 A.T1_Col2 = B.T2_Col2
6 ,a.T1_Col3 = b.T2_Col3;
2 rows merged.
SQL> Select * From Upd_Test1;
T1_COL1 T1_COL2 T1_COL3
1 raji sis
2 manoj bro

Hi, I am trying to update the blank records with the value present in the other table but it fails saying that Sub-Query returns more than one row.
UPDATE MASTER SET CODE = (SELECT C_MASTER.CODE FROM C_MASTER WHERE
MASTER.DOL = C_MASTER.SEDOL AND MASTER.CODE IS NOT NULL)

of course, c_master.sedol must be unique (pk or unique constraint/index) for this to work
and the outer where clause prevents updating MASTER records that already have values.
