Update improved application of apex

Hey. I have a problem with apex, to see if I can help out.
First of all sorry for my English, this translation was made xd google translator.
Well, I have an application running in a company right?. This company is working with the application, and have lots of data within the database. So, as I have requested a change and I, I've developed on my local machine, and now I want to update you erase your application without the database. And do not really know how to do it, I've been seeing in the apex there is a place to create objects of installation and update objects but do not really know how to handle it.
I hope I have explained clearly. Basically I need to update the application of this company without touching DDBB data.
thanks

Make sure you keep the application IDs the same in dev/test and live, or else if you have users who have saved some interactive reports, they will all disappear when you import the application because the saved reports are tied to their region IDs.
So keep the IDs the same throughout your environments, and when you import into live (after copying the application to create a backup), check the "Reuse Application ID ??? From Export File", then you will be prompted to confirm that you want to overwrite the current live app.
regards,
Malcolm.

  • Windows critical update blocks Application Express (APEX) with IE6 browser

    We recently started having problems with APEX running on an IE6 browser. You get 'page not found' error. It was just 1 user, then 2, then others, on different days. It was weird and we didn't know what was causing it. Our DBA found it quite by accident. He was in APEX with IE6, then did a MS/Windows critical update and now cannot use IE6 with APEX. We are looking at the patches now to try to isolate which one is causing the issue. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue. It would be Microsoft's latest critical update.
    Carolyn

    Apex version 3.2.1
    DB version 10.2
    Web server architecture (?)
    Browser: MS Internet Explorer version 6.0.290.5512.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100427-1636
    Just trying to access the APEX URL gives 'page not found' error.
    We are still on IE6 because a lot of our vendor supplied solutions are still on IE6 so until we get those resolved we have to keep this browser although we are working on a virtualization tool that will help. In the meantime we have told our users they have to switch to Firefox to use their APEX applications and that means constantly switching back and forth between browsers for them. We have identified the MS critical update patch for this but I am looking for a better solution instead of the interim solution of switching browsers.
    Thanks,
    Carolyn

  • Updating Page Sentry for APEX 4.0

    Hi there,
    I've found this forum and the regular posters and mods to be extremely helpful, so this post is more of a give-back, I hope. We recently upgraded a dev system of apex 3.0.x to 4.0.2 and ran into some issues where our use of some Page Sentry auth code that's been floating around a long time became a problem for us in terms of properly managing session state, URL forwarding, and acceptance of URL parameters for setting the value of page items in session.
    I've posted [an article on our blog|http://zetetic.net/blog/2010/12/10/updating-page-sentry-for-apex-4-0-upgrade/] explaining the whole thing in what is probably very boring detail over here, and if you're so inclined, we'd love your feedback. But just so there's no need to go anywhere, here's the page sentry we ended up implementing, which makes some pretty significant mods to the old page sentry to account for what we perceived as changes in APEX's behavior somewhere in our move from 3.0 all the way up to 4.0.2.
    You can view the following function nicely formatted [at this gist|https://gist.github.com/736369] :

    Billy,
    Thanks a lot for this great info. It seems to have solved the problem I have been having with an NTLM page sentry function for the last 2 or 3 days. Very difficult stuff to debug what is going on inside these functions when they (obviously) behave differently once you have logged in etc.
    As I said, your solution seems to solve my problem - but I have a couple of questions :
    1. Is this related to 10347091 which is mentioned on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/downloads/apex402knownissues-189793.html ?
    If yes, did you try the patch?
    2. Have you logged a bug or had any feedback (externally or within the forum) from Oracle people on this issue?
    I was about to log a bug regarding the deep linking and FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL not behaving correctly when I noticed the known issues and now your valuable work. I was going to try the patch, but I'd rather not apply it unless I know it will solve my problem.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Glen

  • Creating a simple image application in Apex

    select
    "IMAGE_ID",
    <img src="#OWNER#.deliver_thumbnail?p_image_id='||IMAGE_ID||'"/> thumbnail,
    "FILENAME" from "ORDIMAGE_IMAGES"
    where
    instr(upper("FILENAME"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"FILENAME"))) >
    Its is showing an error
    showing only the coding part when i run the application instead of showing image....
    can you please help me rectify the error
    Edited by: 880021 on 17-Aug-2011 20:58

    Creating a simple image application in Apex
    Create a new application from scratch. Name it ORDImages_images.
    Add a Report and Form Page based on your ORDImage_images table. Ensure that you select a Classic Report (i.e. not Interactive, which is the default). As expected, two pages are created.
    Continue to create the application and then run it.
    After the login page, there will be spurious entries for image and thumbnail.
    This is expected because of the ORDImage columns in the images table.
    Edit Page 1 and open the Images Region
    The Source entry is
    select
    "IMAGE_ID",
    "IMAGE",
    "THUMBNAIL",
    "FILENAME"
    from "ORDIMAGE_IMAGES"
    where
    instr(upper("FILENAME"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"FILENAME"))) > 0
    In SQL Developer, create the deliver_images_thumb procedure
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE deliver_thumbnail(p_image_id IN NUMBER) IS
    l_thumbnail ORDSYS.ORDImage;
    BEGIN
    -- Fetch the thumbnail from the database
    SELECT thumbnail
    INTO l_thumbnail
    FROM ORDImage_images
    WHERE image_id = p_image_id;
    -- Check update time if browser sent If-Modified-Since header
    IF ordplsgwyutil.cache_is_valid( l_thumbnail.getUpdateTime() )THEN
    owa_util.status_line( ordplsgwyutil.http_status_not_modified );
    RETURN;
    END IF;
    -- Set the MIME type and deliver the image to the browser.
    owa_util.mime_header( l_thumbnail.mimeType, FALSE );
    ordplsgwyutil.set_last_modified( l_thumbnail.getUpdateTime() );
    owa_util.http_header_close();
    IF owa_util.get_cgi_env( 'REQUEST_METHOD' ) <> 'HEAD' THEN
    wpg_docload.download_file( l_thumbnail.source.localData );
    END IF;
    END;
    Then
    GRANT EXECUTE ON deliver_thumbnail TO PUBLIC;
    Return to Apex and change the Source entry to
    select
    "IMAGE_ID",
    '<img src="#OWNER#.deliver_thumbnail?p_image_id='||IMAGE_ID||'"/>' thumbnail,
    "FILENAME" from "ORDIMAGE_IMAGES"
    where
    instr(upper("FILENAME"),upper(nvl(:P1_REPORT_SEARCH,"FILENAME"))) > 0
    Apply changes and run the application
    You can now search on substrings of filenames. Note that the image_ID is not shown. To rectify this, Edit Page 1 and open Report in Regions.
    Edit the image_id and under Column Link, change the Link Text to #IMAGE_ID#. Also change the Heading in the Column Attributes to Image ID.
    Apply the changes and re-run.
    Clicking on the image_id link takes you to Page 2 – the form for that image.
    Page 2 is sparse so reveal the image_id by Editing Page 2 and opening the P2_IMAGE_ID Page Item. Change Display as Hidden to Text Field. Apply changes and re-run.
    In Page Items, open and delete the P2_THUMBNAIL item.
    Open the P2_IMAGE item.
    Under Name, change the Display As entry to Display Image (from the select list).
    Under Settings, change the Based On entry to BLOB Column returned by SQL Statement
    Enter
    SELECT i.image.source.localdata
    FROM ORDimage_images i
    WHERE image_id = :P2_IMAGE_ID
    as the SQL Statement
    Apply changes and re-run the application
    Making an image clickable
    Edit Page 1 and open Report in Regions. Edit THUMBNAIL and under Column Link, insert
    <img src="#OWNER#.deliver_thumbnail?p_image_id=#IMAGE_ID#"/>
    as Link Text.
    Select Page 2 as the Target Page in this Application.
    Finally, set Item 1's name to P2_IMAGE_ID and its Value to #IMAGE_ID#
    Removing the Spreadsheet link
    Under Report Attributes, set Enable CSV Output to No

  • Parental Controls Broken After Updating an Application

    I'm using Parental Controls (remotely) under 10.5.4 to manage what applications can be opened in a small lab. This works well until I need to update an application on the lab computers. I'll use Firefox as an example, but this happens with all applications.
    - I have a version of Firefox on all lab computers (3.0) and Firefox is allowed under parental controls. Everything works.
    - I update Firefox to 3.0.1. (In this case, I simply overwrote the older version of firefox, but I get this problem when updating applications with installers.)
    - If I remotely look at the Parental Controls settings for the lab computer, I can see that Firefox is still allowed (checked)
    - Now, on the lab computer, I log into the managed account and try to open Firefox, I get a warning about the application not being on the allowed list.
    - I log out of the lab computer, and again, access the parental controls setting remotely. Now Firefox is Not Allowed (unchecked).
    - I check the box to allow Firefox
    - Now when I log into the managed account, the new version of Firefox opens.
    Some fixex / workarounds I have tried:
    - After updating Firefox, I remotely accessed the parental controls settings and first disallowed (unchecked) Firefox, close parental controls, reopened it, and then allowed (checked) Firefox. When logged into the managed account, opening Firefox produced the not allowed error. When I return to the Parental Controls settings, Firefox is now Not Allowed (unchecked). Checking the box to allow Firefox fix the error.
    - I've tried restarting after updating Firefox and it did not work.
    My guess:
    I assume that Leopard keeps a list of applications and versions installed on the computer. Parental Controls allows a specific combination and any update will break the parental controls. To allow this updated application to be opened, its old entry in the list must be updated to reflect the new version. The only way I have figured out how to do this, is to try and open the updated application and fail. Then I can finally allow the updated version.
    Does anyone know of an automated or scritable way to do this. I have tried working with lsregister, but have not had any success. I need a way to force Leopard to reload / refresh its list of installed applications, with having a user logged into the console.
    For a different solution, does if you can send a UNIX command to machine sitting on it login screen, that will cause the machine to login as a local console user. I could then send "open /path/to/updated app" and a logout to force the application list to be refreshed.
    Many Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi! Did you ever receive any feedback on this issue?
    I am interested since I have noticed the exact same frustration with Parental Controls since updating to 10.5.
    While a very good idea, I think the parental controls, especially with respect to permissions about applications is utterly useless at the moment. It is completely stupid that I have to reset the permissions for applications each and every time I update an application. I have three children who use the computer and I don't want them using every bit of software on the eMac. They are naturally curious and will click on programs that can do damage without realizing is.
    I have also turned off any parental controls regarding web browsing but my children still hit many sites that are blocked by Parental Controls. I do have a linux gateway that does the filtering quicker and better.
    If anyone at Apple is listening ... please spend some time to fix this for the next update.
    Thank you.

    The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
    To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
    If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
    If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.

    3. Other issues
    If you see a lock screen when trying to boot from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
    If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information.

  • How to Import 3.0 application in APEX 3.2?

    How to Import 3.0 application in APEX 3.2? These two are on two different machines. It is not upgrade.
    Pls help.

    Hello,
    APEX supports backward compatibility. It means that 3.2 version can run any application that was developed in earlier versions.
    In your case, just export the full application from 3.0 and import it in the 3.2

  • Help deleting an application in Apex 3.2.1.00.12 on 10g XE

    Hi,
    I imported an application (timesheets demo application) by running the install script in an SQLPLUS session which I understand now was not the proper way to do this.
    Now I need to delete this application but I'm receiving the following error when trying to delete the application in APEX:
    ORA-20000: User ADMIN has no privileges on the EBA schema.
    What do I need to do in order to delete this application?
    Thank you.
    Francois

    Hi Francois,
    You could try to login in SQLPLUS the way you did when you imported the application and then run the following code.
    BEGIN
        APEX_INSTANCE_ADMIN.REMOVE_APPLICATION(xxx);
    END;Where xxx is the Application ID.

    There are three ownership models:
        Personal
        Institution
        Layered. combines personal & institution.
    Watch this apple video on layered ownership.  It education based, but that's OK.

    dear all,
    when i purchased my ipad 2 , the technician at the store used his own apple id to download some applications on it ,
    when i got home and created my own apple id , i had the following problem :
    when i tried to update the applications that he installed , i am requiered to put his password that i do not have , even that i have changed the apple id in the settings , could anyone help me please:

    Sorry but you will need to Delete those Apps and Purchase them using your Apple ID.
    Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

  • I got this iphone from a guy and everytime i tried to update the applications stored in this phone it keeps asking me the password that the guy used to use, even thou i created a new apple ID of my own and updated the account of icloud and everything in t

    I got this iphone from a guy and everytime i tried to update the applications stored in this phone it keeps asking me the password that the guy used to use, even thou i created a new apple ID of my own and updated the account of icloud and everything in this iphone with the new apple ID, it still asks me the password of the account that the guy used to use whenever i tried to update the applications, and i cant find the guy who gave me this iphone...wt should i do???

    Apps are permanently tied to the AppleID that downloaded them and cannot be transferred to another.  Best thing to do is delete the apps and download those you want or need under your AppleID.

  • I tried to use my visa gift card to purchase something and I am now aware that it does not have any money in it to purchase anything. Now when I try to update an app it will direct me to the incorrect billing page instead. I cannot update any applications

    Hello. I have tried to use my visa gift card to purchase something from apple. However, the security code is not present, which I am aware of. When I typed in the correct security code, I discovered that there was not enough money in the card to complete the purchase anyway. Now, whenever I attempt to update my applications on my iPhone 3Gs, I am directed to the billing information from the previous purchase that did not work. How do I cancel the purchase and continue to update my applications?

    This happens for some apps. If you have a computer try to buy on it. Otherwise you will have to enter a credit card or some from of billing.
