  • How to update or delete records in a Complex View in Forms?

    Hi,
I have a requirement to create a Form by using Complex View. Insertion is possible but updation and deletion is not working properly . I got FRM-40501 Error. I need How to update or delete records in a Complex View in Forms?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hari Babu

Depending on how complex your view is, forms is not able to determine how to appropiately lock a record, when you try to update or delete a record.
One approach to using complex views in forms:
    1. Set the Key-mode of the block to "Non-Updateable"
    2. Mark the column which can be used to build the WHERE-condition to uniquely identify a record with "Primary Key" = "Yes"
    3. For doing INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE, create an INSTEAD-OF-trigger on the view.
    4. Create your own ON-LOCK-trigger in forms which does the locking of the records to update.

  • Access is not inserting, updating or deleting records in my database table on the server

I am having a problem with an application I developed using Dreamweaver 8 and Access 2000 several years ago which is no longer working correctly. The problem is that Access is not inserting, updating or deleting records in my database table on the server but is reflected in changes to my Web site. I used the Dreamweaver server behaviors: insert record, update record and delete record to make the changes to my Access table on the server. My Access table on the server shows all of the records I inserted or updated in the past, but not any of the newly inserted on updated records.
does any one have any ideas as to what my problem is?
    Jim

No, that has nothing to do with your problem. Let's make sure I understand the symptoms.
    1) Your site is online at a remote host.
    2) You use a dynamic page in your online site to update a database record (insert, delete, or update)
    3) The update then appears correctly on your dynamic content page.
    4) You download the mdb and it appears to not have any of the upates you just made.
Please correct any of these statements if they are wrong.
If the above is correct, then you must be looking at a cached mdb, or the mdb you are looking at is in the wrong location. Do this: search your entire drive for copies of the mdb, including in the Windows temp directories which is likely where the cached copy is located. Delete any extra copies and download again.

  • How to update and delete records in a text file?

    Hi,
I had a text file in which contains records line by line with ',' as delimiter as I use stringtokenizer and vector to read the data.
The format in the text file likes: Name, Sex, Age.
I want to add 2 functions:
    (1) update the record by name, sex or age;
    (2) delete the whole line of record;
Do I need to open a temp text file to do it?
And, what is the algorithm can be suggested?
For both of them, I want to firstly read the total line numbers. Then, the line number + Name, Sex, Age will be displayed on the console window. User can choose which line of record to update or delete.
Or, user can search name in order to do that.
But, what is the backend algorithm to handle it? If I have 10 lines of record, I want to delete 7th line, the 7th line of the text file will be blanked. How can I move 8th, 9th and 10th lines of records up by one line in order to fill the blank line?
Do I need to copy the first 6 lines to a temp text file and copy the last 3 lines of records to the same temp file first? and then copy all the content of that temp file back to the original text file? If so, how can I copy the same format of the original file (with '\n') to the temp file? I need the same data structure likes Name, Sex, Age.
However, when I add records, I need to append the text in the original text file, not override it's current content.
    Any advice?
    Thanks
    gogo

If your file is not designed to be amazingly large, then you don't need to use a temporary file -- you can just read the data into memory and manipulate it there. (Like, into a Document object or something.)
But if you are dealing with really large files, you might want to consider using a database back end instead of a text file, which is a completely different approach I know but... well, that's why databases were invented.

  • Updating and deleting records in access DB

i'm trying to make multiple updates and deletes in a access DB and it doesn't work.
my program executes lot's of updates and delete statements when saving, but I only commit in the end when I know all the statements finished ok.
I can't make it a batch update since I need to retrieve the auto-number that access issues me on some of my tables.
I know it's kinda fuzzy, but my program is SO big already, and I can't really put the code in here - it wouldn't do much good.
what I will do is write what my log shows (i issue a log output whenever there's a executeQuery/Update and before commit/rollback

    DEV : 29/04/03 : commit

sure - I don't get any exception. the data just
doesn't show in the DB. (no updating/deletion of
    records)
as I wrote before - when the the programm commits the
changes and does the next select command it seems as
if the data was changed/deleted but if I check the DB
with access or if I restart the prgoram then I see
    that the data didn't change.
Access/jdbc-odbc has a problem where modifications are not 'commited' when the statement completes. Instead one must do one of the following:
    1. Explicit commit.
    2. Simple select after statement.
    3. Close the connection.
    Presumably you are doing 1.
Since other than this it does work, it suggests one of the following.
    1. Something is wrong with your environment. For instance you are looking at the wrong database. Or not refreshing. Or something else like that.
    2. You are using something besides a simple connection - like opening it with 'scroll insensitive'.
    3. The complexity is causing it to lose an error message. This can be tested by doing each statement individually and verify that none produce an error.
    4. Maybe you found a bug. You can turn on ODBC tracing via the applet panel and see if digging through all of the detail provides any clues (you can also do this with 3 above.)

  • Delta update for deleted records

    Hi,
I use delta update for my data. As destination I use ODS object and this ODS contains two keys: key1 and key2. On step of preparing data for extraction, key2 is lost(we can't determine it) - key1 is known only.
I'm finding a way how to update ODS by deleted records('D' update mode) if this records contain only key1 value(key2 is empty). I need to delete all records with key1 only, key2 is not important for this update.
Is it possible to set key2 some BW specific value, which will be accepted as equal for old key2 values ?
Or some other standart ways are known for this situation ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fiodar.

I would use the update rules to read the active data table of the ODS. There you can read all the key2 values for a given key1.
If you get one row with key1 filled and key2 = '*' (for example you could split it into multiple records, one per key2. A sample coding might look like:
    LOOP AT DATA_PACKAGE into l_d_data_package.
      IF key2 = '*'.
        DELETE DATA_PACKAGE.
        SELECT * FROM /BIC/AMY_ODS00 INTO l_d_my_ods
          WHERE key1 = l_d_data_package-key1.
          l_d_data_package-key2 = l_d_my_ods-key2.
          append l_d_data_package to DATA_PACKAGE.
        ENDSELECT.
      ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Help with update, add, delete records

    Hi every one,
This is a problems that I have been trying to figure out for
a little while now and I hope you all can help me out. So this is
    the situation.
I am useing CFX XLS 2 Query to create a query from an excel
doc I have. Now my problem is how can I loop through and delete the
records that no longer are in the spreadsheet?
So in other words my client will be uploading a new XLS each
day, this xls will have some new data, some of the same and some
will be gone. So I need the system to check and see if the
stocknumber is there, if it is it will just update that record, now
if the record is new it will add the record but for the life of me
I can't figure out how it can delete record.
I had thought maybe doing a select where the stock numbers
dont match but that didnt work out too well :)
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide

You could consider using ValueList() to create a list of
stocknumbers from your excel query, then do something like this:
    <cfset sCurrentStockNumbers =
    ValueList(myQuery.stocknumber)>
    <cfquery name="removeStockNumbers"
    datasource="myDataSource">
    DELETE from myTable
    WHERE stocknumber NOT IN (<cfqueryparam
    value="#sCurrentStockNumbers#" list="Yes">)
    </cfquery>

  • Updated, inserted, deleted records

    Hello,
    Oracle 10g R 2
Is there anyway to find the updated, deleted, or inserted records in a table?
    Regards,

i need to log all the modifications done on table, (update, delete or insert) in another table
is there any thing to give me all the modified records, for example between sysdate -1 and sysdate? If you have a copy of "previous" data and the "current" data then you can use SQL set operations (MINUS, INTERSECT etc.) to determine which data has been inserted, updated and deleted.
If you don't actually record the inserts, updates and deletes as they happen, there is some possibility of using the archive logging of the database and then log mining to find out what happened to the data, but that data is only available for a limited time (assuming archive logging is enabled for the tables).
Essentially, if you don't have a historic copy of the data and you don't record the changes as they happen yourself, getting the information is going to be very tricky.

  • Creating Update and deleting Records Forms

    Hi Guys
Hopefully some one can help me with this, I am using php and
mysql, I already have a page that shows all the records of
customers details, which I can navigate through the pages of
    records.
I have created a update page, using the update wizard, which
works but only shows the first record. I have added a repeat region
and page navigation which allows me to choose individual records
    but wont update those records.
I also took a look at a tutorial video that had you adding an
extra column and add the word update to add a hyperlink that took
you to the update form with that particular record for updating,
the video was using cold fusion the link was update page address
then this ?ID=#ID#, I tried different versions of this with no
    success.
I also tried to alter the record set and added a filter using
Member_ID and = paramater URL, this made my cusomter detail page
    stop working.
    can some one help please
    Cheers

I'm not familiar with the ASP server behaviors, but there is
    a Master
Detail Page Set for PHP (it's on the Insert > Data Objects
    menu).
Creating an update page is very easy.
    1. Create a page that lists all records in the database.
    2. Alongside each record, create a link to the update page.
    3. When creating the link, click the Parameters button inside
    the Select
    File dialog box.
    4. In the Name field of the Parameters dialog box, type the
    name of the
    primary key (ID).
    5. Click the lightning bolt icon to the right of the Value
    field, and
select the primary key from the recordset.
    6. Click OK twice to close both dialog boxes.
    7. Save the page and test it in a browser. When you mouse
    over each
link, it should display a URL that looks something like this:
update.php?id=3. The name/value pair after the question mark
    pass the
details of the record as a URL parameter to the update page.
    8. In the update page, create a recordset that uses the URL
    parameter as
a filter to select a single record depending on the value
    sent from the
    previous page.
    9. In the update page, create a hidden field to store the ID
    from the
recordset (click the lightning bolt icon alongside the Value
    field to
    insert the dynamic data).
    10. Apply an Update Record server behavior. Make sure the
    primary key
gets its value from the hidden field in the form.
Alternatively, if you don't want to build your own update
    form, replace
steps 9 and 10 by using the Record Update Form Wizard (Insert
    > Data
Objects > Update Record > Record Update Form Wizard).

the user will specify a group_name in a text box and press save. Before commiting a seq number will be generated
inside the form procedure and it will be inserted.
    The insert is working fine.
But when i select a record i.e a group_name and change it contents and commit it, it is not commiting.
when i checked the display error it showed Ora-01400 cannot insert null values into the table.
Iam not inserting a value here iam updating the group name only.
even when i delete a record it shows same error....
can any one help to solve this....

  • Trigger on update which delete updated record

    Hello,
First I'm french so my english isn't very good.
I use an Oracle8i database with a VB program.(This program run also with SQL Server)
When a specific field is updating, I would like deleting the record updated, but only when this specific is updated. In other case, I would like to have the update statement.
I made a trigger "after update".
When I tried to do this , I had the message that "table or record is in "mutation" (in french) : his state is changing.
So I created a view on table as "select * from table where ...." and I used a trigger "instead of update" on the view. It works when I update the specific field but in the other case the update command don't work (it's normal).
Is it possible to make a "generic" update statement (as I have this functionality on every table of my database) ?
=> I tried to write the update command in a variable with a loop on user_tab_columns table to have the list of columns and "EXECUTE variable" but it doesn't work.
=> I don't find the possibility to activate a trigger "instead of" only when some columns are updated.
=> ..... ???? If some one have an idea ?????

The best you can do is put this code in a procdeure. Pass in the tablename as a parameter and use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE to action the delete.
Then you can generate the triggers (and views) using the data dictionary.
In passing I have to say this strikes me as a bizarre way of doing things. This is why many of us regard the INSTEAD OF trigger as a bad thing; because it's not intuitive - I update a record I expect it to be updated, not deleted. Mind you, at least it's all the tables in the database, so you are consistent, which helps.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to use JavaScript to work with SharePoint list.
To create list items, we can create a ListItemCreationInformation object, set its properties, and pass it as parameter to the addItem(parameters) function
    of the List object.
To set list item properties, we can use a column indexer to make an assignment, and call the update() function so that changes will take effect when you callexecuteQueryAsync(succeededCallback,
    failedCallback).
And to delete a list item, call the deleteObject() function on the object.
There is an MSDN article about the details steps of this topic, you can have a look at it.
