Updating an EAR in WebLogic 10

Hi -
I found a bug in my application (EAR file) after I deployed it using the WebLogic console. However, I noticed that there were multiple locations within the WebLogic directory where files resembling this application existed (e.g., tmp directories, the upload directory, etc). I tried to remove the contents of all but the upload directory and copied the newly built (and fixed) EAR file into the upload directory but that change did not go into effect when I restarted Weblogic.
Can anyone point me to the steps I need in order to update the EAR file, especially if it was deployed ad an exploded EAR application folder?
Thanks in advance!

First of all EAR build with 11.1.1.4.0 need WLS 10.3.4. You can't deploy them to 10.3.3 without running into problems (which you already have).
I'm not sure if you see the problems because of the WLS mismatch, but you have to solve this first. Either deploy to WLS 10.3.4 or use JDev 11.1.1.3.0 to build your app.
If the problem remains come back here.

  • Weblogic 10.3 | Individual WAR update on EAR

    Hi All,
We have an EAR deployed in Weblogic 10.3 which contains 4 WARs .
Whenever we need to update a WAR in the EAR we are updating the whole EAR with the new WAR included and updating the EAR thru WL console.
Is there any way to update individual WARs thru console without affecting the working state of other WARs inside the EAR ?.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Appasamy,
Weblogic provides Partial Deployment feature which u can use ....

  • Migrate EAR to weblogic 10.3

I want to migrate an application from weblogic 8.1.6 to weblogic 10.3. I have the EAR(containing web services & ejb) file which is running in weblogic 8.1.6,but unfortunately no source is available. Please let me know if I can upgrade this EAR in weblogic 10.3 workshop.Any suggestion is appreciated.

all the JAR files in domain/lib are added to the system classpath, but the directory itself is not.
Look at the $DOMAIN_HOME/config directory and check which one is added to your classpath:
    I have the $DOMAIN_HOME/config/soa-infra and $DOMAIN_HOME/config/osb subdirectories.

  • Issue with deploying EAR to Weblogic 10.3.4 from STS

    Hi,
I am using Spring Source Tool 2.6 as the IDE. While publishing the EAR to weblogic from STS, it is not happening. It doesnt give any error too. When I check from the admin console under deployments it will not be found. However, I am able to deploy the same ear file from admin console without any issue. Am I missing some thing while configuring the domain? Is there any work around for this? (Note: I am creating the domain by selecting the default options in dev environment).

There appears to be an issue with tooling versions for Oracle tools and underlying eclispe. see following

    Hello,
Although we don't support incremental deployment
to other App Servers, you can export a WAR file.
In the Project Navigator, select the Project , right-click
and choose context menu, "Export WAR File"

  • Error while deploying Web Service EAR to weblogic 10.3

    Hello All,
I am getting the following errors when I "Activate changes" on the console after deploying the EAR file.
An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
    Error weblogic.application.ModuleException:
Error port component:"StockQuotePortImpl" - wsdl port:{http://sun.com/stockquote.wsdl}StockQuotePortImplPort is not found in wsdl.
The stack trace in the Workshop has the following:
Caused by: weblogic.wsee.ws.WsException: port component:"StockQuotePortImpl" - wsdl port:{http://sun.com/stockquote.wsdl}StockQuotePortImplPort is not found in wsdl.
I don't understand the problem. Is it something to do with the contextPath of the WS. If so, I have the <WLHttpTransport> element as a child of <jws> element and that has teh contextPath, port seviceURI etc.
The WS builds fine and WAR/EAR created fine but I get this exception when I deploy.
Any clues as to what is going wrong will be very helpful..
    Thanks much.

    Nevermind, I figured it out.
I had to change the name of my JWS class (the one that implements the web service methods) and then it worked fine.
    Thanks to all who responded.

  • How to stop a web service inside a deployed EAR in Weblogic 10.3

    Hi,
I want to stop a webservice from the weblogic UI console in Weblogic 10.3 but cannot find any link for the same kindly help me on the same.
    Scenario is as follows
I can see my EAR deployed under Deployment tab, when I expand the same I can see the web service but there isn't any link available to explicitly stop only that particular web service.
Can I do this at all in weblogic if yes? Please suggest.
    Thanks
    VR
Edited by: sorry the page got stuck and refreshed filling details and re-submitting

    Hi VR
From Weblogic Admin Console, Deployments, on right side click on the link named with your EAR Application. It opens detailed page with more tabs. Click on the tab named Targets. Here select your WebService module and click on Change Targets button. Uncheck the server where it is targetted (Deployed), click on Yes. And activate the changes.
    Thanks

I have even tried keeping all the templates in a separate jar file and kept the same under APP-INF/lib and bundled the same in ear file, even this does'nt work either.
Should I create a rar file archive or is there any other way to achieve this?

Atlassian has pretty good user forums, you might be able to get additional help there:

Does the deployment screen show it has "Running". What does the deployment screen for the app show its context root as?
Also, why not just JIRA standalone? (it comes out of the box running in embedded tomcat).

I create weblogic-application.xml for an EAR file and deploy it to weblogic 10.3.4 with EM extension. But I get errors as follow.
If I deploy this jar file to a weblogic without EM, SOA, or BAM extension, it works.
    How to solve this problem?

Where can I know which jars are supported by weblogic (java EE)?
I redeploy the whole WAR file again. This time, I do not delete any jar file. I change the startWebLogic.cmd to
    set CLASSPATH=D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EMdomain_32JDK_20110330\servers\AdminServer\tmp\.appmergegen_1301556726222\szmap.war\fc240w\WEB-INF\lib\wsdl4j-1.6.2.jar;%SAVE_CLASSPATH%
    I set <prefer-web-inf-classes>false</prefer-web-inf-classes>.
Then, after deploying WAR file, it works. It seems that wsdl4j.1.6.2.jar conflcts with weblogic.
    If I set <prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes> and
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.extensions.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.extensions.http.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.extensions.mime.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.extensions.schema.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.extensions.soap.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.extensions.soap12.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.factory.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.util.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.util.xml.*</package-name>
    <package-name>com.ibm.wsdl.xml.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.extensions.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.extensions.http.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.extensions.mime.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.extensions.schema.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.extensions.soap.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.extensions.soap12.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.factory.*</package-name>
    <package-name>javax.wsdl.xml.*</package-name>
Then, I change the weblogic.cmd to set CLASSPATH=SAVE_CLASSPATH%. After deploying the EAR file, it does not wok.
