Updating date to Oracle using jdbc

Previously i was using
PreparedStatement pstmt = con.prepareStatement("UPDATE EMPLOYEES SET DATE = SYSDATE WHERE ID = ?");
the date field would be set to the sysdate based on the oracle database server.
now im required to use a place holder
PreparedStatement pstmt = con.prepareStatement("UPDATE EMPLOYEES SET DATE = ? WHERE ID = ?");
how can i achieve the same effect?
i cant possibly do pstmt.setDate(1, "SYSDATE")
any advice?

First select the sysdate into a string, use "to_char(sysdate,'YYYYMMDD')",
and in the update use the to_date function:
PreparedStatement pstmt = con.prepareStatement("UPDATE EMPLOYEES SET DATE = to_date(?,'YYYYMMDD') WHERE ID = ?");

If you have a sheet in Excel with data from a SharePoint Online list you can switch to the PowerPivot ribbon and ask to add it to the model. This will allow you to reference this table when you create a PowerView report.
This workbook, with the Odata feed can then be refreshed via the scheduled refresh feature of Power BI Site.
Insert the data using the Odata feed
The Odata URL will be something like:
https://MyCompany.sharepoint.com/MySite/MySubSite/_vti_bin/listdata.svc/MyList
If you are not sure what is the list name, you can drop just browse to
https://MyCompany.sharepoint.com/MySite/MySubSite/_vti_bin/listdata.svc and this will provide a list of all the lists in that site/sub-site.
Once you have those in the model and you setup scheduled refresh, it will refresh the lists directly from SPO (using the owner identity)

I need to auto update the Date_Time column without using trigger when ever i update a record.
Example shown below is from MYSQL. I want to perform the below steps in ORACLE to auto update Date_Time column.

The fastest way is to use external tables or sql loader (sqlldr). (If you use external tables or sql loader, you don't use C# at all).

Connecting to Oracle using JDBC

Hi all,
I am a new to Oracle. I am trying to connect to Oracle using JDBC
The URL with which I tried to connect was:
jdbc:oracle:oci8:@myServiceName,user='myLogin',password='myPassword'
I get an error (ORA-12154)
- TNS could not resolve service name
When I use the same userid, password and service and connect thru' SQL*Plus it goes thru'. Is there any parameter which I am missing. Can anyone throw some light on this. I am held up with this issue badly.

In my database i have a column LAST_UPDATED_DTTM which is used to store last updated date . when i try to update using the following query stmt

' c ' is instance of Calendar Class as below
Calendar c=Calendar.getInstance()
it gives the following error
ORA009:Expected date got number

can't i do that without prepare statement?If you insist on stuffing that String, then format it in some convenient String format using SimpleDateFormat and call the TO_DATE function in Oracle, so that the database understands your Date too.

I wrote this code and it works fine without the statement of where date > '01-09-2010'
But i need that statement on the select. I read a lot about this issue, but no answer.

You can finnd a command DECODE which is used for date formats. If you have a look at whole theory then you will get an idea.

I want to load data into Oracle using XML & Java - hints??

I have a XML files that are created on a timed basis....they describe a photo and point to a dir where the photo is stored...like...

I'd like to write a Java program that parses the XML and loads the images, data into Oracle.

Depending on whether you want assistance in doing the insert into the database or whether you don't mind writing the JDBC code to perform the insert, you can get by with only our XML Parser for Java v2, which implements SAX, DOM, XPath, and XSLT standards. The latest beta release (2.1.0) supports SAX2 and DOM2.
If you want help inserting the XML into tables, then in addition to this, you might want our XML SQL Utility as well.

I should get the xml data from database. Is this scenario possible using jdbc adapter ? If possible, how can I get it ?. Plz help me

I suppose that probably, xml data are stored in a BlobImage Field.
You can use a Stored Procedure on Database Side, to select and put out the xml data structured in output fields or structures.
From JDBC Sender channel, you can call the SP, that raise out a Structure formatted like the XML Data stored in Xml Database field.
In your opinion, this should be a possible way to achieve this issue?

Geting and setting date and time in oracle using jdbc

can u send me a sample snippet which shows me how to set date and time to a column in oracle database where the column datatype is date.
and also send me the sample code to get the date and time from the above said column

If you want DATE with time normalized to midnight, use java.sql.Date. If you really want time, with hours/minutes/seconds/millis, use java.sql.Timestamp.
As for the best way to interact with the database, use java.sql.PreparedStatement and its get/setDate and get/setTimestamp methods. Those will escape dates for you properly.
Look for a JDBC tutorial on-line to see how to do this, or http://www.javaalmanac.com for the java.sql package examples.

Updating data in oracle 10g

Is there anyone who can explain to me, how to import only recently datas from other database to mine oracle 10g database.
I wanto update only the newest datas to my database.

Best regardsWell, as alluded to earlier, first you have to be able to identify that data. There is nothing inherent in Oracle to do so. At least not after the fact. Is there any column in the table(s) that could be used to identify the data you need? If one database is a backup of the other, why would you NOT want to back up the entire 'source' database? A little more information about the business problem you are trying to solve might lead to some creative solutions.
