i want to update the sal column for every 15 mintues.

I have a table 'Contracts' as we can see in the picture below (I exported my data on An Excel Spreadsheet). Table's primary key is 'ID' column.
I am trying to create a stored procedure (i.e. updContractNum), through which I am going to update the 'Contract_Num' column, in every row where the values on Property_Code, Customer, Cust_Category and Amnt ARE EQUAL, as we can see in the schema above.
The value of Contract_Num is a combination of varchar and auto_increment (integer). For example, the next value on 'Contract number' column will be 'CN0005' for the combination of 11032-14503-02-1450,00
I' m trying to use CURSORS for this update but I am new in using cursors and I am stuck in whole process. I atttach my code below:

You dont need cursor
You can simply use an update statement like this

Update Table statement in pre-commit trigger

Hi,
I would need to update one table before commit in the form and hence I need to write an update table statement in pre-commit trigger. Can anyone help me with the sample code or how sould i be able to write a Update table statement from form-level trigger. Normal update statement is throwing me errors.

I wouldn't recommend the PRE-COMMIT trigger unless it is your requirement to execute the UPDATE statement every time the form commits, whether it is updating or inserting or deleting.
Other wise you can use the PRE-UPDATE, PRE-DELETE and PRE-INSERT triggers; for this case you create a procedure under Program Units node in the Form's navigator that includes your "UPDATE" SQL statement and you call this procedure from the triggers you need to execute it from.
Example:
PROCEDURE UPDATE_MYTABLE IS
BEGIN
UPDATE MYTABLE SET MY_COLUMN1 = MY_VALUE1,
MY_COLUMN2 = MY_VALUE2,
MY_COLUMN3 = MY_VALUE3
WHERE ... condition;
END;
PRE-UPDATE trigger code:
BEGIN
UPDATE_MYTABLE;

Error converting data when updating table

Hi,
I need to understand why I cannot gat my update to work properly, I have to concat 4 fields (numbers with leading zeros so I can create a new number with leading 1. My field is already set as a bigint but I cannot convert the resulting string properly
UPDATE table
set field = convert(bigint, '1', strfield1 + strfield2 + strfield3 + strfield4)
                                       1, 001
+   0125   + 0045      + 004568
The end result need to return the number 100101250045004568  to be inserted into a bigint field but I always get the following error:
Error converting data type nvarchar to bigint
If I try a select , it shows the proper result, so what am I missing here

Guess I will have to wait for our new SQLServer 2012, coming in next week, I have tried every possible cast, convert possibility to make it work.

Help on refreshing a table every second ? using table model

i have created a table using defaultTableModel. now i need to refresh the table every two seconds. to implement the refreshing, do i need to revalidate the container pane of the table every two second? i am just wondering since i use the tablemodel, maybe it can revalidate or repack automatically. please help me and thank you.

Slow running query on heavily updating table

I am working on a live gps tracking project. The project is using SQL Server 2008 web edition. There are thousands of devices which are sending data packets in every 10 seconds or less depending on various settings to the server. On server there is a tcp
server listener program which reads and parse data and insert it into a "Table-A". Table-A has a trigger which updates Table-B on each insertion (Table-B is used to show live updated status on website). Now Table-A has millions of records per day
and high insertion rate per second.
We also need to show the history reports and other reports using "Table-A". The problem is query on "Table-A" is very slow and affacts the insertion on "Table-A". Please help to overcome this problem.

Since there are frequent inserts ,I believe you are selecting records using NOLOCK hint to avoid shared locks.

I am pretty much sure in OP scenario NOLOCK will cause blunder. Please don't advise NOLOCK on forum where we have no or minimal information about OP database and infrastructure. Its not a good coding practice.
Your comment to perform regular stats update also does not makes sense, are you sure stats is the issue I can sense some app design problem.

I guess trigger on Table A is making things slow as it has to complete and I guess this is what taking time , I am not sure.

Production code should have some comments in it. Pretend that someone (someone you like) has to take over your job without any training on you code. What would that person find useful?
Instead of a one-row, one column table just to hold the next scheduled deleteHistoryDate, consider having a multi-row, 2-column table that also serves as a log of when deletions were actually done. You could have a scheduledDate column that is entered when the job is schduled, and a completedDate column that is originally NULL, but filled in when the job completes. The firest query would be:
SELECT scheduledDate
INTO dateOfDeletion
FROM historyDeletionDate
WHERE completedDate IS NULL;

Since you have a custom table, you can use all the Open SQL statements available in ABAP

BDC's are generally used when you wanna update SAP Tables, as we do not know, which all tables will be updated in SAP.
You may use the SHDB tcode, to record a BDC for an tcode: standard or custom

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited. In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items. I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible. I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected. Hope this helps!

I have a requirement to update table AFVU-USR08.I am actualy dealing with tcode IW32/IW33 where in we need to update operation-->enhancement tab.I am using BAPI : BAPI_ALM_ORDER_MAINTAIN to do this.I am testing the BAPI directly( Not called in any program ),I can see a message like so and so order saved under notification,But there is no entry in table AFVU-USR08.
If any one have come across this prob. and got the sol. Pl. share it with me.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
