Updating tags on Vision

I have Windows Media Player 0 and Media Monkey, but I was just wondering how I updated things like the year and album art. Somehow I've managed to get Deep Purples album art on a Nirvana album - help!

I also have Creative Media Source.

There was something you could have done, bought extended warrenty, would have covered this. Apple is outside of it's one year warrenty policy, they had the agreement, and when you update you also sign an agreement that you would be responsiable for any problems that occur.
The best thing you can do is the Out of warrenty for 199$; you didn't get additional coverage; something bad happen, be glad they offer the OOW.

I have catalog on an external drive but the tags are on the computer. Is there any way that tags can be placed on the external drive so that other computers can access and update?

In case its just the tags that you want to have in one catalog that is easy. From multiple computers save the tags to the xml file.Copy the xml file to the external drive where the catalog resides. From there you can import the tags into the catalog.
Command for exporting tags ->Save tags to file in the tags panel of the application
    Command for importing tags->From file

  • How do you make iTunes read updated tag data from a file?

This is such basic functionality that I'm sure I'm just missing it. It used to be the when I modified a file using a third party application (or editing a shared library using iTunes running on a different machine), all you had to do to get those updates into iTunes was select, hit "get info" and click OK without changing anything. That broke in 9.2 - it still recognized that the file has changed and adjusts the Date Modified field, but doesn't actually update any of the fields.
The revised tags don't get updated until you either Get Info individually on each file, play the file, or modify the files. So realistically, there are no workarounds - the first two aren't realistic for a full library and the latter trashes your modification date and causes the refresh to take hours to complete if the library is on a remote server, rather than the ten minutes it used to take.

    Hi,
I've written a script called UpdateTagInfo which should do the trick for you. Just select a bunch of tracks or an appropriate playlist and call the script. It will process each track, updating the tags if they've been changed externally. When complete it will tell you how many tracks were processed & how many were updated.

  • Is it possible to set a playlist not based on tags on Vision

I've always had a well organised music archi've on my pc and would like to have such on my zen vison M. I keep mp3s in folders:country/artist/album. To be exact i have mp3 of folk music from different countries and when i try to create a playlist on my Vision M, total chaos appears, some of my mp3s don't even have any tags,so tags are not helpful, just the opposite.

    No, Violation of copyright laws

  • Updating tag attributes in design time

I have a design time renderer for my custom component... As the component renders itself in design time, I set some of the component properties from within the renderer... The property sheet correctly shows those values... However, the associated JSP tag in the source view does not show those attributes... The JSP tag attributes dictate the runtime behavior and since they are not set properly, my component misbehaves.
How do I make sure that the tag attributes sync up with the property sheet values?
Also, what is the motivation behind the property sheet displaying the component values and not the JSP tag values? Having it the way it is right now opens itself up to a bunch of out-of-sync problems like the one I encountered.
    Thanks,
    Keyur

Ok - here are a couple of scenarios:
    1. I have a component, say chart component associated with a connection component like this:
    <my:connection id="connection1" />
<my:chart connectionId="connection1" />The user first drags and drops the connection component. The ID connection1 is automatically associated to it. Next he drops the chart component. Now, I would like to automatically populate the connectionId attribute without the user having to type it in manually. I am able to do that (in design time) in the renderer of the chart component - I programmatically look for a connection component on the page and set the connectionId attribute of the control. And when I do that it correctly shows the connectionId attribute populated in the property sheet but the corresponding tag attribute is not.
Sure enough, at runtime, it is the tag attribute values that count and since those are not updated by the IDE, it does not work as expected.
    2. Creator updates the style attribute when I move or resize the component. Now, I also have position attributes left and top defined on my component and I use these attributes at runtime to position my component. So, in design time I extract the left and top values from the style attribute and set them on the component. But again, the tag attributes are not populated and so the component is not positioned properly.
#1 is to convenience the user so that he doesn't have to manually enter values for attributes which can be automatically populated at design time.
In fact for #1, I would ideally like to show the user a drop down list of all the connections available to him in the property sheet and select the first one by default. Is this possible?
#2 is for backward compatibility reasons - We already have runtime renderers in place which use left and top attributes explicitly to render the components at runtime. And this is not restricted to left and top only but other client attributes as well - such as borders, backgrounds etc. which we expose as separate attributes.

  • New ITunes...systematically misses one file when updating TAGS of an album

With the latest version of ITunes (811) I am confronted with an annoying behaviour.
I like to have comprehensive TAGS when I import an album...proper GENRE, name of ARTIST, YEAR, album COVER and so on. So I always verify, and if necessary update the tags.
Now, with ITunes 811, it always misses one of the tracks from the list of tracks I want to change.Consequently, I need to select this track and perform the complete cycle of Tag editing again...twice as much work, and a genuine irritation.
    Any solution, known bug?
    Thank
    Patrick

Just wanted to add my 2 cents...
The original poster of this thread says it started on iTunes 8.11...well I'm using iTunes 10.1.2.17 and it's still doing it for me and has been for AGES. It is really frustrating. I highlight a whole album and add all the tag info because I am really pedantic about all of it being organized and all with proper names, artwork, etc.. Not every time but I'd say fluctuating between 50-100% of the time and normally about 90% of the time it will miss tag updates on one of the tracks. Normally the last one or towards the end of the album but it could be any, really. So what I do is I highlight the album, update the tags, click ok. Then before I even check if there's one track that didn't get the updates, I just immediately click 'Get Info' on all of them again and sure enough the tags will be empty on all the ones I just updated. This is because one track didn't get the updates so iTunes sees the selections as having one or more different values. So I put in all the values again. This could happen for any of the tags I update, including album artwork. So basically, when I do tag updates for an entire album I just always do the updates twice. I could search through and find the actual track missing the updates but I've found that this takes even more time. On the off chance that when I click 'Get Info' the second time and see that all the tags are updated I then jut hit cancel and move on, as I clearly don't need to put the tag updates a second time. But that hardly ever happens.
What's interesting is that before, without fail, one track would miss the updates and all the updates I did. So if I updated Artist, Album and Genre then one track would miss them all. Now sometimes the one track that missed the updates will pick up one or more of the tag updates but not all. This is actually more frustrating because it means when I highlight the entire album for the second time it gets confusing because my eye will quickly catch that some of the tags were updated, leading me to believe that 100% of the tracks caught the updates that first time but really if I look more closely I see that a couple of the tags didn't get updated.
There's actually a few buggy little issues like this in iTunes that I've noticed haven't gotten fixed over update after update after update of iTunes from Apple. I don't get it....
Also, why can't you add MULTIPLE artwork to more than one file at once? If you highlight an entire album and want to add the artwork for the front and back and CD of the album, then you have to choose one, and only one, picture which will obviously be the artwork for the front of the CD. Then, I used to manually go through all the tracks, go to the Artwork tab and then add the back or other CD artwork files. Now I just add the front artwork to all of them together, then click only the first track and add all additional artwork to only track one.
iTunes also has a little bug where many times after doing a search and it coming up with a list of music, such as "The Beatles", it will take about five seconds before it will let me scroll down the list and sometimes will take about five seconds before it will let me see the mouse pointer on the iTunes window. Anywhere else on either monitor I can see the mouse pointer but as I move it across the iTunes window it disappears until it pops out the other side as I keep moving my mouse.
I could keep going with this list but this thread is really only supposed to pertain to the first thread's topic so I've probably already said too much. We can't keep meeting up like this anymore or they'll find out.
    Anyway, so that's that...

  • Updating Tag UI - many to many DB

    Hi,
I got a quick question. What is the standard procedure for
creating a Tagging UI. I've got the insert actions down, but when I
want to update an blog entry, and I want to display the already
attached tags in a text input, I've having a lack of logical
answers to how to achieve this. Below I have a quick function of
how I'm pulling my data, but the problem I'm having is how do I get
that data to display nicely in a text input value attribute?

I know its stupid to stick a cfoutput inside cfform but that

But yeah, that's what I wanted to do, was a List.
I was in the middle of trying for an array, but a list is
    what I want.

Ehh, I did at one point, but I felt the need to use CF to get

Tho it does look a little better to use one, now that I look
at the amount of tags that show up.
Thanks for your help guys. :)

  • ITunes 9 not updating tag data when re-importing a CD

    Hello all,
With ALL previous versions of iTunes, when you re-import a CD and if you change the information (like the genre, etc.) iTunes would update the existing versions of the songs with this new data (it would also fill in the track x of n information). With iTunes 9, it seems to default to use the existing data instead of using the new data. Is there a way to get back the previous behavior as I want iTunes to update the old metadata with the new data (not keep the old stuff).
    Thanks,
    hmss007

If you insert a CD, it gets the info, you import it, change the info and then reinsert the CD and reimport, it will not reuse the info you changed. It will use the info from the CD.
This is how it has always been.
If the CD info is not correct, you need to change it before you import/reimport it.
If you have already imported and changed the info, you can use this script -> Copy Track Info to CD Tracks v1.3 to copy the changed info in Tunes to the CD, then reimport it.

  • Updated TAGS in iTunes not updating iPod

I'm new to iTunes and iPop and I'm running into a problem. I did my initial sync and when I browsed through the artist, I realized I had some problems with some of the tag data. For instance I had a listing for "The Moody Blues" and one for "Moody Blues, The." I also had some artist where there was a space behind the artist name on some entries that I had to delete. So I went through all the tracks with with problems and corrected them, and everything looks great in Itunes. I then re-synced and it showed a bunch of tracks were re-syncing. But once it finished, the artist listing on the iPod didn't change. So what do I have to do to get those changes to reflect on the iPod?  Thanks!

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on that, Jim.

  • Software update tags

Our copy of iWork 08 came with a sheet of paper perforated into 4 sections with "iWorks 08 Software Update" printed on each section. Does anyone know how these will be used by Apple?
    Doug

    Doug,
Apple has been providing these software proof-of-purchase certificates since before Steve Jobs discovered black turtlenecks. I've yet to find a use for them in the 15 years I've been buying Mac software.
Of course, if I tell you to throw them away, they'll suddenly become very critical to have.

I had to turn off the usb emulator before the ZVM was recognized on my averatec(cheap) notebook. Before trying, you should try the step above. To Turn off the usb emulater, go into the setup menu that appears if you push f2 on one of the screens that come up after you restart your computer. I know its different in gatways. I just looked at my router (Belkin N+) and I think you might want to set your data encryption to AES+TKIP. This is, by the way, the default when encryption is set to WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK on my router.
You need to be careful on password entry. The touch is case sensitive as well so if you miss one, it is not going to connect.
D-Link routers have been the source of a number of Apple and iPod touch connection issues. Just to be on the safe side, check and see if a firmware update is available. If there is one, install it.

  • ID3 tags change when copying Vision:M to

After tagging all my music using Tag&Rename as well as the Software provided with my zen, I transferred all my music to my Zen.
Now when I transfer it back to my PC, all the track and album names are the original ones before I changed them.
Why is this and how can I change them back?

    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
    Use Creative MediaSource instead.
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.
