Upgrade desktop flash player

Question

Hi all
I've made a cool swf to use it as a wallpaper (win XP SP2). I
can load it within a html file. But my animation is a flash 8
version, and my desktop flash player version is 6, so all graphic
effects are not displayed.
Read carefully, to avoid confusion:
Both my Firefox and internet explorer flash players are
updated to version 8. BUT the desktop seems to be independent from
IE and I can't upgrade it normally since the desktop is not a true
internet navigator. So don't say me to go to macromedia's site to
upgrade it...
I must do it manually, but how to? with which files? and
where?
plz help me, I spent many hours to create this swf

Hi, there's no separate desktop player besides the standalone
EXE player
(which can't be used as a wallpaper).
The applications use the ActiveX, which is what IE uses as
well.
Could you confirm by right-clicking on your wallpaper that
it's Flash 6?
Could you confirm in IE by right-clicking it's 8?
If so that would be truely peculiar.
