I have been working with Apex 4.1 on my local 11G XE database and now want to export / import some applications to production (10.2.0.4).
As far as I know this would be the procedure:
- Install Companion CD and select then HTMLDB installation type. Do this installation uses and different ORACLE_HOME?. I understand this would install Oracle HTTP Server and the PL/SQL Cartdrige.
- Upgrade the Apex Schema to 4.1
- Import Applications developed using 11g XE al EPG.
Question:
Is this the correct way to go ...?
Also, please notice, companion CD is on 10.2.0.1, so i have to patch this ORACLE_HOME sometime. When do i do this ...?

Hi.... Any feedback on this one ...?
Really need to get this thing clear up, before proceeding ...!
Regards, Luis ...!

  • Upgradation procedure for ALE/IDOCS

Can anyone  let me know what is the upgradation procedure for ALE/IDOCS and what are the steps needs to be checked  out during technical remediation part of version upgrade(lower version to ECC6.0)?

IDocs are backwards compatible, so I don't think you need any special procedures for them, just a regular test, to make sure everything stull works fine. If you've had extended any standard IDocs, that part will need to be reviewed, as any other custom development.
However, there might be a newer version of the IDoc type available in ECC 6.0, which you didn't have in the previous release. You might want to see if there would be any benefits in switching to the newer version.
I'm sure you'll find all the information on the Upgrade page on SAP's [web site|http://service.sap.com/upgrade]. Also there is an SAP Press book on the subject.

  • Recommended Upgrade path for Apex 3.1.1

    Hi Everyone,
just wondering what the recommended upgrade path from Apex 3.1 to 3.1.1 is. Is it just installing the Patch or is there an upgrade option for the full-3.1.1-version?
The reason i'm asking is not everyone has access to metalink and can therefor not download the patch from there but the full version from OTN
    thanks,
    Peter

    Peter,
As with our previous patch sets, we release a full, new install on OTN and only release the patch via MetaLink (it is one of the benefits for customers with database support). You can use the full release to upgrade from 3.0 (or before) to 3.1.1 but to get from 3.1 to 3.1.1 you need either the patch or you need to do a new install.

  • Upgrade procedure for multiple WLCs without N+1

Hello, I would like to discuss another method of a bulk controller upgrade and see what other engineers take on this upgrade path would be.
Say I have an instance of 8 4404s with 50 APs each, In this case I have N+1 redundancy where I can follow the normal proceedure
    Normal Proceedure
Move all APs to controllers 1-4
Preload all APs with the new code version
Upgrade and reboot empty controllers 5-8  to new code version
Move all APs to 5-8 with new code versoin
    Upgrade empty 1-4
    Move all APs back home
Now take the same scenario only chage it to 80 APs per controller. I've now lost my N+1 and cannot do it quite as smoothly.
As opposed to trying to follow the normal proceedure and have an extended window of "brown outs" How about doing it all at once.
    Black-out accelerated proceedure:
Preload new code on all controllers
Preload new image on all APs on all controllers
Reboot all 8 controllers at the same time.
Allow time for APs to connect back and load the new image
I assume with this proceedure that I might see around 15-30 minutes of actual downtime to the site but it seems like that could be preferable to two-three hours of brown outs.
What are your thoughts, and do you feel that 15-30 minutes is

    Michael,
    Welcome to CSC!
I have 40+ WLCs and like you looked at this very closely. In my environment I do a predowload and reboot them all. Ive tried the surgical approach and in my case if you get aps bouncing back and forth on WLCs they will upgrade then downgrade etc.
Also note -- If you are on 7.0.98.0 code, predownload "may" have a bug. I noticed an issue during a recent upgrade in mu network and later someone commented about the same issue here on CSC.

    Hi,
Check this link which may help u:
    http://sap.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-basis/igs-upgrade-1455477
The installation/upgrade procedures for the integrated IGS are as follows:
    Integrated Version Installation
The integrated IGS is automatically installed with the SAP Web Application Server.
    Integrated Version Upgrade
You find the upgrade files for the integrated IGS version on the SAP Service Marketplace:
http://service.sap.com/swdc  ®  Download  ®  Support Packages and Patches ®  Entry by ApplicationGroup  ®  SAP Frontend Components ®  SAP IGS  ®  SAP IGS .
There, you find the IGS executables and libraries (igsexe_.sar) as well as the IGS folder structure (igshelper_.sar) containing among others font files.
With the upgrade files of the executables and libraries, proceed exactly like you would with kernel patches (for example, extract the Archive to the same location). More information about kernel patches can be found in the related note 19466 in the section Copying and Installing a Patch.
The upgrade files for the IGS folder structure must be extracted to the instance directory (DIR_INSTANCE). More information can be found in note 1028690.
After a restart of the Web AS the new IGS is up and running.
Information about finding out your IGS patch level is provided in note 931900.
For an upgrade of an integrated IGS please also check note 896400.

  • What is the upgradation procedure

In orion we have autoupdate.jar which gives seemless update of the server. Is there any such functionality with OC4J?

    Hi,
the autoupdater.jar is Orion specific and has been removed from OC4J. My best guess is that the upgrade of OC4J will follow the normal upgrade procedure for Oracle products.

  • Step by step procedure for Upgrade to ECC6.0

    Hi,
I gained a lot from this forum . Can someone please mail me at
    [email protected]
step by step procedure for upgrade .
Will award full points for helpful documents..
    With regards,
    Mrinal

SAP defined a roadmap for upgrade.
    1) Project Preparation
    Analyze the actual situation
    Define the objectives
    Create the project plan
Carry out organizational preparation for example identify the project team
    2)Upgrade Blueprint
    The system and components affected
    The mapped business processes
    The requirements regarding business data
3)Upgrade Realization -- In this phase the solution described in the design phase is implemented in a test environment. This creates a pilot system landscape, in which the processes and all their interfaces can be mapped individually and tested on the functional basis.
4)Final Preparation for Cutover -- Testing, Training, Minimizing upgrade risks, Detailed upgrade planning
    5)Production Cutover and Support
    The production solution upgrade
Startup of the solutions in the new release
    Post processing activities
Solving typical problems during the initial operation phase.
SAP expects at least 2 to 3 months for Upgrade and that again depends on project scope and complexity and various other factors.
    STEPS IN TECHNICAL UPGRADE
    •     Basis Team will do the prepare activities. (UNIX, BASIS, DBA).
    •     Developer need to run the Transaction SPDD which provides the details of SAP Standard Dictionary objects that have been modified by the client. Users need to take a decision to keep the changes or revert back to the SAP Standard Structure. More often decision is to keep the change. This is mandatory activity in upgrade and avoids data loses in new system.
    •     After completing SPDD transaction, we need to run SPAU Transaction to get the list of Standard SAP programs that have been modified.  This activity can be done in phases even after the upgrade. Generally this will be done in same go so that your testing results are consistent and have more confident in upgrade.
    •     Run SPUMG Transaction for Unicode Conversion in non-Unicode system. SPUM4 in 4.6c.
    •     Then we need to move Z/Y Objects.  Need to do Extended programming check, SQL trace, Unit testing, Integration testing, Final testing, Regression Testing, Acceptance Testing etc.,
The main Category of Objects that needs to be Upgraded is –
    •     Includes
    •     Function Groups / Function Modules
    •     Programs / Reports
    •     OSS Notes
    •     SAP Repository Objects
    •     SAP Data Dictionary Objects
    •     Domains, Data Elements
    •     Tables, Structures and Views
    •     Module Pools, Sub Routine pools
    •     BDC Programs
    •     Print Programs
    •     SAP Scripts, Screens
    •     User Exits

  • Results and a Procedure for SSD Upgrade on T410s

After finding that my T410s 1.8" hard drive was 35% - 60% slower than the variety of 2.5" SATA Hard Drives in my older Thinkpads, I selected a Kingston SSDNow V+180 128GB for $219 for the SSD upgrade from Amazon because this Kingston model had the best price for published performance.
If anyone else is thinking of this upgrade, here are the results using CrystalDiskMark to measure Read and Write speeds. (The Kingston has much better Write speeds than the Intel SSD used in some T410s models.)
    System:  T410s with 1.8" Toshiba 250G drive > upgraded to Kingston SSDNow V+180 128GB
                                                        HDD             SSD               Improvement
    Sequential Read 1000MB           47 MB/s        190 MB/s       304%
    Sequential Write 1000MB           46                 150                 226%
    Random Read       512KB           21                 174                 728%
    Random Write       512KB           22                 149                 577%
    Random Read           4KB          0.30               14.0              4566%
    Random Write           4KB          0.68               16.0              2253%
    Upgrade Procedure
To complete the upgrade, I restored a Windows 7 Disk Image from the HDD to the SSD.  Partition Alignment and TRIM were both correct after the transfer to the SSD.  The Windows 7 image was on a USB drive where I maintain a Fresh Install image that has my full setup.
Notes:  To restore a Windows 7 image from a larger drive to a smaller drive, you must create the disk image after shrinking drive C:\  to a size that permits it to fit on the new smaller drive . . so your larger source drive MUST HAVE unallocated space before creating the Windows 7 Disk Image.  When shrinking drive C:\ on your source drive, shrink it enough so it will easily fit with room to spare on new smaller drive, otherwise Windows 7 image restore will not work.   You can expand drive C:\ to fill the entire new SSD drive after restoring the image to the SSD. (more notes about the source drive below)
    - The Disk Imaging mentioned in this post is built into Windows 7 - Acronis is great but not needed for this SSD upgrade.
    - Shrinking and Expanding drive C:\ is done in Windows 7 Disk Management
    - Your larger source drive must be configured to have Unallocated Space before creating the disk image.  Its the total size of all partitions on your source drive that matters, even if you don't select extra partions to be in the image. Creating Unallocated Space on the source drive is the only thing that works for using Disk Imaging to move from a larger drive to a smaller drive.
Important:   Check out post installation Tweaks when using an SSD at this link.
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1133897/windows-7-ssd-tweaking-guide
especially disable  Hybernation and scheduled Defragmentation.  Scheduled Defragementation may be set by default on all Windows 7 installations.
    Other Results
Windows 7 boots to the login screen in 16 seconds now compared to 28 seconds before.
The T410s with the Toshiba HDD was a real drag compared to my older T500 and T61 with stock 5400rmp Hard Drives.
The T410s with the Kingston SSD is now my quickest system.
The measured results I get from the Kingston are a little slower than the results published in an independent review of this drive using the same free CrystalDiskMark utility.  I know my Partition Alignment is good, so maybe the different results are caused by some difference in the computers.  To make sure the disk image transfer wasn't causing a performance hit, I also performed a from-scratch install of Windows 7 directly on the SSD. The performance tests results were the same with either method getting Win7 on the SSD.
The 1.8" Toshiba Hard Drive that came with the T410s was painfully slow, I am a little surprised Lenovo would put this drive in one of their business class systems.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for posting this.  It was very helpful in my decision to move from the Toshiba 250G drive to the 256G Kingston.  The performance of the drive is awesome.  I thought I would share a few items on how I went through the upgrade.
I used the Lenovo Rescue and Recovery and performed a full BASE backup.  It took about 12-14 hours to backup around 220 GB.
I then replaced the old drive with the new drive.
After replacing, I used the two recovery DVDs to restore to factory settings.
After back to factory, I went through all the basic setup so I could use the OS.
I then downloaded the critical update for Recuse and Recovery.
After that I ran rescue and recovery with the option to replace everything.
The restore of the data took 3-6 hours (didn't sit around to watch the whole thing).
Everything was restored perfectly.  No issues at all.
I had read that you could boot off of the external backup on USB, but I couldn't validate that myself.  Lenovo tech support also said it couldn't be done.  I had reviewed my plan with Lenovo support a few times to be sure I was doing things right.  The knowledge level on R&R is pretty inconsistent.
Also, a note that my original drive was encrypted with PGP Whole Disk Encryption.  When R&R backs up the data it's no longer encrypted and I didn't have a password on the backup.  I turned off disk defrag after the restore.  I confirmed Windows 7 was set to use TRIM.
I highly recommend the drive.  The 256GB wasn't cheap, but I needed that amount of space.  The performance like I said, is excellent.
    Good post, swbca.  Thanks!

  • Procedure for Upgrading Kernel of 700

    Hi,
I would like to know the if procedure for upgrading the kernel of release 700 is same as upgrading other release like 640. I have upgraded the kernel release 620 and 640.

  • Updating Page Sentry for APEX 4.0

    Hi there,
I've found this forum and the regular posters and mods to be extremely helpful, so this post is more of a give-back, I hope. We recently upgraded a dev system of apex 3.0.x to 4.0.2 and ran into some issues where our use of some Page Sentry auth code that's been floating around a long time became a problem for us in terms of properly managing session state, URL forwarding, and acceptance of URL parameters for setting the value of page items in session.
I've posted [an article on our blog|http://zetetic.net/blog/2010/12/10/updating-page-sentry-for-apex-4-0-upgrade/] explaining the whole thing in what is probably very boring detail over here, and if you're so inclined, we'd love your feedback. But just so there's no need to go anywhere, here's the page sentry we ended up implementing, which makes some pretty significant mods to the old page sentry to account for what we perceived as changes in APEX's behavior somewhere in our move from 3.0 all the way up to 4.0.2.
You can view the following function nicely formatted [at this gist|https://gist.github.com/736369] :

    Billy,
Thanks a lot for this great info. It seems to have solved the problem I have been having with an NTLM page sentry function for the last 2 or 3 days. Very difficult stuff to debug what is going on inside these functions when they (obviously) behave differently once you have logged in etc.
As I said, your solution seems to solve my problem - but I have a couple of questions :
    1. Is this related to 10347091 which is mentioned on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/downloads/apex402knownissues-189793.html ?
If yes, did you try the patch?
    2. Have you logged a bug or had any feedback (externally or within the forum) from Oracle people on this issue?
I was about to log a bug regarding the deep linking and FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL not behaving correctly when I noticed the known issues and now your valuable work. I was going to try the patch, but I'd rather not apply it unless I know it will solve my problem.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Glen

  • Upgrade question for ISE 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 patch 8

    Hi everyone,
I need some advise on upgrading from ISE 1.1.1 patch 3 to 1.1.2 patch 8...
I have read the upgrade document on the Cisco website http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.1.1/upgrade_guide/upgrade.html and tried to understand it properly, but I have a couple of questions about it.
Firstly, the procesdures detailed are only relevant if you are upgrading from 1.0 or 1.1 to 1.1.x ( i think )... Well I am already running 1.1.1 and I want to upgrade to 1.1.2 patch 8, so is this document right for me?
Secondly, I would like to follow the procedure for a "Two Admin Node Deployment". But the caveat message and Warning message directly below the diagram worries me as I do not know whether these apply to me...
This supports an upgrade of Cisco ISE, Release 1.0 or 1.1 to Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.x with split domain upgrade only, so that the secondary ISE node has to be deregistered individually from the deployment before upgrade.
As I said, firstly I am not upgrading from 1.0 or 1.1 and secondly, what is a split domain upgrade?
    Hope you all can help!
    thanks
    Mario

    Thanks Ravi / Tarik,
so I need to perform a split domain upgrade by following the steps below... (sorry about the formatting)
To perform a two-adminnode deployment upgrade, complete the following procedure:
    Step 1
Perform an on-demand backup (manually) of the Primary Administration ISE node from the admin user interface or CLI and an on-demand backup of the Monitoring node from the admin user interface, before upgrading to Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.x.
.Step 2Deregister the secondary node (Node B) from the deployment setup. After deregistration, this node becomes a standalone node.Step 3Upgrade this standalone node to Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.x.When you log in to Node B after the upgrade, if the system prompts you for a license, you must install a valid license for the secondary node based on its UDI. See Obtaining a Valid License, page 1-2 for more information. For more information on how perform an on-demand backup, see the "Performing an On-Demand Backup" section on page 1-3
Step 4Convert the primary node of the previous deployment (Node A) to a standalone node.Step 5Make Node B as the primary node in the new deployment.Step 6Upgrade Node A to Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.x and register to Node B in the Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.x deployment setup as the secondary node.
After you upgrade your deployment, all the policies and other data of the previous deployment will be retained in your new deployment.

  • AnyChart Version 4 - Upgrade Options in APEX 3.0?

    General Production Question
The AnyChart people have released a version 4 and 4.06 of their charting tool.
Is there any way to upgrade our existing APEX 3.0 to the new AnyChart 4?
    - How would we obtain the new version of AnyChart?
    - From AnyChart directly or from Oracle?
Is there any plans to include AnyChart 4 with the next release of APEX?
Should we pursure a different charting tool?
    Just looking for some direction.

    Tim

    John,
We have not created good descriptions and installation package for that Integration Kit. I would say it is in 0.99 beta stage.
So - for a while we would prefer to send personal letters by request.
PS. I've sent information to your email.
    Thanks,

  • Solaris 10 5/08 live upgrade only for customers with serviceplan ?

Live upgrade fails due to missing /usr/bin/7za
Which seems to be installed by adding patch 137322-01 on x86 according to release notes http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4078/installbugs-114?l=en&a=view
But this patch (may also be the case for Sparc patch) are only available for customers with a valid serviceplan.
Does this mean that from now on its required to purchase a serviceplan if you would run Solaris 10 and use the normal procedures for system upgrades ?
    A bit disappointing ...
