Upgraded to PSE 8-Can I uninstall PSE 5?

I bought an Upgrade version of PSE 8, and rather than upgrade my original PSE 5 to PSE 8, it has installed PSE 8 in parallel to ver 5, which is OK, but can I uninstall PSE 5 without affecting my new PSE 8? Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to do this?
Alan

If the original poster has converted his PSE5 catalog to V8, then this shouldn't be a problem. I would not recommend you trying to keep your catalog in two different versions of PSE, that is always a recipe for confusion plus duplicate work.

Yes, you do not need to have any previous versions installed in order to install a newer version/upgrade.

If I upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion and I don't like Mountain Lion, can I uninstall Mountain Lion and be asured that my IOS Lion will function and be ok?

You can't uninstall an OS. You can only erase and re-install the previous OS. You would also need a backup of your previous data.

  • Upgraded to CS4, but can't uninstall CS3

I installed CS4, and then successfully uninstalled CS3 (both versions as full Creative Suites).  I realized, though, that I hadn't saved the actions I had created in PS CS3, so I reinstalled PS CS3 (and found the PS CS3 Actions Palette.psp file, which had my custom actions, from a backup I had made). I exported the custom actions to .atn files, and then imported them into CS4.  So far, so good.  But...  Now I can't uninstall CS3!  It doesn't show up in my "Add or Remove Programs" dialog (either as the full Creative Suite, or as the individual component programs).
I suppose I might be able to solve this by completely uninstalling CS4, which would leave only PS CS3 (and a few other of the CS3 programs, which were also reinstalled) -- and then maybe it would show up in Add or Remove Programs.  (And then I could -- I hope -- uninstall CS3, and reinstall CS4.)  But if someone has a simpler solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it!
To summarize the key actions, here's what I did:
    - Already had Creative Suite CS3 installed
    - Installed Creative Suite CS4
    - Uninstalled Creative Suite CS3
    - Reinstalled PS CS3 and a couple other CS3 programs
    - Exported some files I needed from CS3, and imported them into CS4
    - Now I can't uninstall CS3
    Thanks,
    Steve

You have created a fairly unusual situation!
I would first try runnning the CS3 Clean Script to see if that can remove it without damaging the CS4 installation. It may not.
Otherwise I can only think of:
    Un-install CS4 normally
Run CS4 clean script, a couple of times if necessary.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
It should also detect CS3 remnants , if not run CS3 clean script.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Manually remove any Adobe folders remaining – they may be in more places than C:\Program files!
Run a good registry cleaner like CCleaner.
Start again with a fresh installation.

  • Can't upgrade iTunes... can't uninstall QuickTime

    Help!!
I've missed a couple of upgrades to iTunes, waiting to investigate the problem - error 1322, a portion of the path exceeds the maximum length allowed by the system.
Now I think I've isolated it. If I try and uninstall Quicktime (version 7.1) I get the same problem.
So I think uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime will help. But how do I do that - I can't get past the error.
Any experienced insights will be welcomed!
    Thank you

I just solved a similar problem by using "Windows Install Clean Up" to completely remove my old version of Quicktime. Be very careful using this program, since it removes programs from the Window's registry. You can download it from Microsoft's web site.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Be sure to carefully read all the instructions on the webpage before using the program.
Run the "Windows Install Clean Up" program.
Select Quicktime and remove it. Don't select anything else!
After this, try updating iTunes. I hope it works for you.

  • How does QuickTime 10 go to pro? Can you uninstall it and put QuickTime 7 in it's place?

You can't upgrade QuickTime 10 to pro (yet). Can you uninstall 10 and install QuickTime 7 in OSX 10.6.8 so it can be upgraded to pro?

Can you uninstall 10 and install QuickTime 7 in OSX 10.6.8 so it can be upgraded to pro?
You could, but why bother? QT X and QT 7 Pro can both simultaneously co-exist under Snow Leopard OS.  Simply install QT 7.6.6 for OS 10.6.3 and later which is available HERE.

  • Upgraded to Logic 9, can i remove Logic 8?

    Hey all
I've just upgraded to Logic 9, can i uninstall Logic 8 to free up some room or is it still needed to run LP9? For some reason I have 3 versions of Logic in my applications now - Logic Pro, Logic Pro 8 and Logic pro 9.0.0.
    Any ideas?

Logic Pro = 9.1.3 and the rest speaks for itself. You can delete the older versions, but there's no need - in fact, I would keep them in case any project created with those earlier versions won't open properly in 9.1.3. Once you've verified that all your (old) projects open properly in 9.1.3, you can trash them. But again, you don't have to, it won't interfere in any way.
You can also create a new folder within the applications folder and put the unused versions in there. They will still function normally if you'ld open them from there.

I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this.  You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts.  Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

Compare with on-line stores. The full version is often cheaper than Adobe's upgrade price.

  • Can someone explain why upgrading to PSE 12 resulted in two kinds of people tags?

Can someone explain why upgrading to PSE 12 resulted in two kinds of people tags? One is the new Group tag (with its own two-person icon) and the other tag is the original People tag (one perswon silhouette icon) from previous version. If person already had been tagged the new People Group will not work. Anyone else having a problem or has found a solution?

    jlovettjr wrote:
I would have no problem with using the new People tabs except for two things:
    1) There are pictures of people that facial recognition cannot handle. An example would be a profile view. These have already been tagged with old people tags. The new People Tab is dependent on facial recognition and will not accept these.
I don't use facial recognition at all, sorry.
    2) The mystery is that the conversion from old to new was not automatic during the upgrade. Hours on telephone with Adobe tech did not resolve how one reconciled the two different tags. It appears to be more than a problem of naming the tags.
As I explained, there was no conversion at all with my own categories, and I was too happy for that. From a number of other posts on that subject, I don't think that reconciling the two different kinds of tags is possible. I think I'll try a new conversion from an old PSE6 catalog so that I can play with the new scheme; that should work even without face tagging.

I own Pes 12, can I upgrade to PSE 12 premiere?  Or do I have to buy it separately?

Premiere isn't an upgrade. Photoshop Elements is adobe's consumer level photo editing program. Premiere Elements is adobe's consumer level video editing program. The programs are sometimes sold together in a bundle giving you a better price. You can try contacting adobe sales to see if they'll give you any kind of break if you bought PSE and want to add PRE.

  • PSE 13 installation freezes, can't uninstall

I've been trying to install the downloaded trial for several days. For the first 4 or 5 times the computer would crash as soon as it got to about 18%. Now it's not crashing, but it is freezing (I let it run for about 24 hours) and I can't uninstall without it crashing or freezing. The uninstall stops at 2%, and the only way to use my computer is to restart it completely.
I am running Windows 8.1 64-bit, have lots of disk space and memory, turned off my virus protection and firewall, and have been trying to install as an administrator. At this point I would just like to get the program off my computer. I've wasted the better part of two days trying to get it to install.
    Any ideas? TIA -

Yes, I Presenter 7 was installed before Presenter 8.  I have Windows 7.
I found my old thread here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5080369
I followed that.  Here is what I have done:
I ran the reg file from http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2012/08/resolution-adobe-presenter-8-installer-issue.html
I deleted all the folders and files related to Presenter 7 or 8 in
    C Drive> Users > Your User Name>App Data > Local > Adobe >
and App Data > Roaming > Adobe >
    I reinstalled everything.
    So far so good.

I just installed Photoshop Elements 12 upgrade [from Elements 9]. Can I uninstall Elements 9 without any negative effects?

yes, you can deactivate (help>deactivate) and uninstall.
you do/did not even need to have pse 9 installed before installing your ps12 upgrade.  if it's not installed you will be prompted for the pse 9 serial number.
