UPK 3.6.1 Gkn.OnDemand.Library.OfflineException - Possible solution

Hi all,
Apology if this has been posted already, but I search Oracle articles/forums/support and various websites and couldn't find any solution until I just happen to stumble upon it by chance.
I thought I'd try and share this solution in case someone else is having the same issue as me which took a couple of weeks to work out.
A few weeks ago I got a request to setup Oracle UPK environment. Things went smoothly until it tries to populate the library.
Platform: Windows 2008 R2 64bit
Database: Oracle 11g
Issue: While installing UPK server, encountered Gkn.OnDemand.Library.OfflineException error during populating libraries stage

The closest solution I could fine is:
Gkn.Ondemand.Library.Offlineexception While Installing Upk Server [ID 785488.1]
Which says to give full control access to everyone across the entire disk.
Well it didn't help my issue. After searching various websites, it appears quite a number of people were experiencing the same issue, but no solution were posted or documented.
Tested IIS and it showed it was working OK. Can see default page with big flashy IIS7 logo. Made sure oracle database and connections are ok.
One guy from another forum said he had to resort back to installing it on Windows 2003 32 bit.
Well I gave that a try, and still experiencing the same issue.
For a full week I couldn't work out what's going on, until I tested IIS on the Windows 2003.
The localhost default page was displaying access denied. Squid (Proxy server) was complaining about security issue.
Then it hit me. This is an issue relating to the proxy server.
My company have serveral proxy servers, therefore the server I was setting up UPK on, its Internet browser proxy setting was set to autodetect.
After ensuring no proxy has been set and the autodetect option is not selected, UPK server installation ran without an issue.
So if you have a similar issue as me give it a try.
Sorry the post is quite long, but I wanted to give a good details on what the issue was and what worked for me.
Hopefully I could save time or frustration for someone.
Cheers.

Proxy change did not help me. My error is below: Can you provide any help?

  • ITunes 7.6.1 Library corruption & possible solution

    For two or three days itunes have been crashing with -50 errors (cannot save the library file) just after trying to play a song after a fresh launch. Otherwise if quitting without playing any music, I would get a dialog upon normal quit which informed of unexpected quit and invalid disk access errors (multiple crash reports sent to apple over the past 48 hrs)
    I have over 30,000 tracks and do not wish to rebuild/reimport/recreate the library again
    Booting from Install disk and verify & repairing the disk with disk utility was successful (invalid free space corrected) but did not help with apparent itunes library corruption.
    Deleting the various itunes related prefrences from user/lib/prefs and user/lib/prefs/byHost did not help. Reinstalling a fresh copy of itunes downloaded from apple did not help
    Trying to rebuild the library created new a library that would still crash with -50 errors
    (after taking something like an hour to create a fresh library with assosiated loss of perfectly good album art that was fine before the corruption started) Other weirdnesses included the name of my podcast download folders and my library name in itunes windows changing to japanese/korean/chinese
    solution? Disable iwow, turn it off or uninstall it.

    I've been unable to launch itunes (7.6.2) ever since the latest updates. Actually, I could launch in a library-less test account, and once after deleting my entire preference (although upon the next restart I had the same problem).
    What is iwow?

    Hi at the moment my ipod is on manual sync mode. Is there any way of changing this to auto-sync without losing the music on my ipod or library? Possibly more importantly is there a way I can transfer the ratings from my ipod onto my i-tunes?
    This is so I can delete music from my ipod knowing its rated on my i-tunes so I can then see later if I want to re-add it based on its rating
    Thanks

    Unfortunately there is not.
    Possibly more importantly is there a way I can transfer the ratings from my ipod onto my i-tunes?
    Not without the help of third party software such as this one:

  • UPK takes too much time "Loading Library"

    Hi All, I installed the UPK Developer version 3.5.1 together with the Service Pack 3, as soon as the installation is finished:
    1) Execute the UPK Developer application
    2) Immediately appear a window, showing that UPK is "Loading the Library"
    3) Most of the times takes too much and nothing happens, I have to kill the process.
    4) Few times (I don´t know why) it stops and
    4a) Let me to navigate in the menu, but most of the options are not available, I mean
    I can not make a New Folder, Topic, etc, I can not Open, I can not See Options, etc
    And I can not execute anything.
    Does any body could help me?
    During the process the only few things I was asked for were: Language, Type (I need SINGLE USER) and Windows Group, nothing related to Library configuration or something like that, any clue?

    Hello,
    You can contact Oracle Support here: http://support.oracle.com/
    For more information about this forum, please see the announcement at the top of the forum: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=1175
    You shouldn't need to kill the Library loading process. Once that happened, it likely left a partial Library in your local cache. Oracle Support can assist you with this issue.
    Best regards,
    Marc

  • ITunes 10 losing my music library -- is this a possible solution?

    I last synched my iPod on Friday afternoon.
    This morning, when I downloaded the new version of iTunes, it lost all my music.
    Apple's "recreating your iTunes library" doesn't seem to help. But I have an appointment tomorrow at my local genius bar.
    In the meantime, can I use my iPod to recreate my library? I'll lose some stuff because my library is too big for my iPod but I can live with that. Everything I really want is on my iPod, including all the playlists and play courts. But I'm afraid to synch it because I don't want to end up losing what's on it.
    This new version of iTunes not just looks different (which I don't like) but feels buggy. I wish I hadn't downloaded it, at least not until Apple had devised patches, tweaks, new versions so these problems are headed off.

    Double check to see that the ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file or the folder it resides in (the ‘iTunes’ folder) is not read-only.
    First, see this Article for some background information: What are the iTunes Library files?
    Using Windows Explorer:
    a) Right-click on the file name
    b) Select ‘Properties’
    c) If it is read-only, then close iTunes, change it, and reopen iTunes.
    Now (and going forwards), any changes you make to the Library should be retained (i.e. – rebuilding).
    For Vista users, How to Take Ownership and Grant Permissions in Windows Vista may offer some help.
    Give yourself ownership and full control of the main iTunes folder and all its subfolders.
    If you are running a Sony Vaio PC, then This Thread may offer some insight.
    FYI: Rumor has it that Sony has released a Vaio update on their Support site to fix the iTunes related issues (at least on their UK site). I would assume that the same would be available on their US site. See This Link

  • Iphoto can´t find my photos, is creating a  new library the only solution?

    Ok, I am having a hard time understanding iPhoto and its libaries. There are two parts of my question;
    1.
    I imported all my photos which I had on an external hard drive. I then changed my mind and copied them to the harddrive, and also kept thm on the external as a backup.
    Now iPhoto cant find any of the photos. The thumbnails are there, but every time I doubleclick on an image, an error message appears The volume for “x.jpg” cannot be found.
    I have about 14.000 pictures, so to sit and "find photo" one by one would take a very long time...
    Is there another way to make iPhoto find all the images again?
    2.
    I think I found one soulution to this, but Im not sure Im doing it right. What I did was that I downloaded "iPhoto library manager", created a new library, named it "No.2" and imported all the photos again into that library. This seems to be working fine. However, when I click the default library in Finder, it says that it takes up 9 GB of my harddrive. Can I delete this library? Or will it affect iPhoto since it is the default library?
    I am completely new to Mac and still stuck in Windows-land. So if anyone can help me with this it is much appreciated!
    /E

    Hi,
    thank you foryou quick reply!
    Ok, so nothing will happen to the images if i trash the original library?
    Also, i have another question you might have an answer to. When I open the No.2 library (I have imported all the images to here) every time a message appears "6 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported" I click "Yes" every time, but no images are imported and the message appears every time I open iPhoto. Aslo, every time I click Yes, iPhoto creates an album called "recovered Photos 1" "2", "3" etc. What photos does this regard? Can I get rid of this message somehow?

    Hi,
    We can put into the Session, the code snippet for your reference:
    //If first time page is submitted and we have file in FileUpload control but not in session
    // Store the values to SEssion Object
    if (Session["FileUpload1"] == null && FileUpload1.HasFile)
    Session["FileUpload1"] = FileUpload1;
    Label1.Text = FileUpload1.FileName;
    // Next time submit and Session has values but FileUpload is Blank
    // Return the values from session to FileUpload
    else if (Session["FileUpload1"] != null && (! FileUpload1.HasFile))
    FileUpload1 = (FileUpload) Session["FileUpload1"];
    Label1.Text = FileUpload1.FileName;
    // Now there could be another sictution when Session has File but user want to change the file
    // In this case we have to change the file in session object
    else if (FileUpload1.HasFile)
    Session["FileUpload1"] = FileUpload1;
    Label1.Text = FileUpload1.FileName;

  • Possible solution to ATV2 slow library streaming.  iTunes movie buffering issues

    All,
    I'm not a common user of forums so forgive ettiqute/nomenclature errors.
       We were recently having issues with non-stop buffering when trying to stream movies from our iTunes library.  I've seem numerous topics and posts on this same issue.  Since we had just purchased the ATV2 we were able to call the apple care number and the tips we received made the difference.  I have to preface this by saying that we also use an Airport Extreme router.  The "helpdesk dude" had us do an "about this mac>more info>system report>WiFi".  Our transmit rate was 5 and it should be way way up there at the 100+ range(some lucky peeps get a 400-450 range I guess).   So if you are having these issue perhaps check the channel you are using and your strength of signal.  We changed channels and went to a transmit rate of 117 and our issues are resolved.  There is a signal/noise component aswell, but we ended up focusing on the transmit rate.  So take this for what its worth, hope it helps.

    OK — I've gotten things resolved. Unplugged and replugged the ATV2 for a reset. Now everything streams just fine — even a rented iTunes movie from my Mac. Too, I have now gone into the ATV2 settings and instructed it to select standard (non-HD) movies for rentals. This is many times faster and on our large flat screen Sony, I see no difference. In any case, HD or not, the wise thing to do is to do your download well in advance of viewing — i.e. hours. The flash memory in the ATV2 should hold it for at least 48 hours (or so Apple Support tells me). As it turns out, "streaming", even with a 10 mb line and an "N" wireless system, streaming is not exactly streaming. But it comes closer to it if you select non-HD movies.

  • 2 iCloud iPhone accounts to 1 iPhoto photostream library not possible?

    I feel I'm not getting the full iCloud photostreaming experience i should be. My spouse and I have our iphone 5's. We have a shared iTunes account which is perfect for us (we have the same calendar and contacts and events, music etc).
    But, we each have our own iCloud account so that the "find my iphone" feature works properly and points to each of our separate iphones.
    But when we turn on PHOTOSTREAM on each of our iphones (or iClouds accounts if you will) how do i get each of our Photostreams to download by wifi, automatically, onto our iMac's iPhoto?
    We LOVE iPhoto on our iMac. We download all our DSLR pics to it, make albums & slide shows etc... BUT>>> it seems that I can only turn on 1 iCloud account on my iMac and that means only 1 of us gets thier iPhone pics to photostream onto iPhoto so we can show them and enjoy them from iPhoto.
    I know that we can always connect our iphones and 'sync' in iTunes and move our photos over manually, but I'm hoping we both can Photostream from our respective iClouds and view-play-edit our photos together in iPhoto. We have NO interest in sharing each others photostream (a feature in iCloud) and viewing each others pics on our iphones, we really want to view them on our iMac (and stream slide shows to our tv via AppleTV) so I don't see how photostream sharing is a solution. What am I missing?

    There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look anyway and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer

  • IPhoto Library -Recovery Possible

    Hello-
    Yesterday my hard drive on my iMac died. Which ws unfortunate. What is more unfortunate is that it died while backing up my iPhoto library.
    So now on the back-up disk the iPhoto library is a fraction of it's old size and only contains a few photos (i looked on a friends mac) is there anyway to recover the old iPhoto library before this botched back-up ? I'm assuming the pictures are still somewhere on the back-up drive, but they can't be seen.
    Please let me know.

    Without the Originals I'm afraid you're out of luck.
    I'm sorry but I don't understand the rest of your post.
    I'm guessing that you have a back up on this drive, and attempted to make a new back up by dragging the Library +on top of+ the existing back up. Is this the case?
    Your next move is to try an file recovery utility such as File Salvage to scan the disk to see what is recoverable. This will do the scan without needing you to purchase, however, actual recovery will require that you buy.
    Set it to scan for jpegs or whatever format your camera uses.
    In the event of different versions of the same photo being found *always choose the largest filesize* - that has the best chance of being the original file.

  • Crash while rebuilding library + possible solution

    because i had a very slowly responding aperture i went through all the comments on what to do, and in the end i deleted the cache files, defragged my hard disk and rebuild the library (using the aperture startup rebuild dialog)
    while it was doing the rebuilding of the library it crashed over and over after going through a few hours of rebuilding.
    i found out that my backup client to carbonite was the reason (still no excuse for aperture to crash) so i switched off the backup for a while, let the rebuild finish and switched it back on again.
    just posting this so if other people have the same problem to check switch off their backup clients (time machine is alright i noticed) and try again.
    oh, and it also did fix my unresponsive aperture.
    cheers,
    tom

    Just an upgrade. The problem is that when I click on the install button and later skip there is a screen that says:
    Install Failed
    Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer
    The Installer encountered an unknown error that failed the install.
    Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
    Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again.
    Any way to resolve this problem (such as commands in the terminal-mode etc.)?

  • Just upgrade to Os Maverick, IPhoto app is no longer available, now I can not open my iPhoto Library. Any solutions suggestions?

    Just up graded my iMac to OS X Maverick after saving all file on external drive.
    HELP: Can not open my iPHOTO Library file because previous iPhoto application
                 is no longer available.
                What to do? If I need new application, which is the best ?

    Have you upgraded iPhoto to the current version (9.5.1)?
    Have you failed to allow your previous iPhoto library to be upgraded?
    Have you tried holding the "option" key while opening iPhoto to point to your iPhoto library?

  • Massive music library - need backup solutions

    I have ripped everything I owned since CD's arrived in the early 80's, we're talking 200 GB and counting. I have a G4 MDD tower where my iTunes library exists. I have been backing this library up to a Maxtor 1-touch 300GB external. So far so good. Now I have a MacBook duocore and want to rip from this machine instead of the G4 (portability reasons).
    I now have a seperate iTunes library for the MacBook and the G4. Is there a way to sync the two libraries? I have Airport Extreme-n, which networks wonderfully. I'm wondering if I can use the external drive as my main iTunes library and have both machines' iTunes app point to that drive? What if the drive isn't on, or if the MacBook is on the road - will I have to switch to another iTunes music locaton before using - and then have to switchback?
    Trying to keep things simple.
    G4 1.4 MMD   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   MacBook DuoCore 2GB/160GB

    One issue is that if you have two computers or user accounts running iTunes off the same library, what one iTunes does to the library the other one will not see. For example, if you delete a song off the hard drive with your Tower, when you then access the library from your MacBook, that song will still be listed but with an in front of it since the MacBook won't be able to find it.
    On the other hand, if you use iTunes7's ability open different libraries and save EVERYTHING onto the external drive, including the database files and never run both computers at the same time with that library, then you should be able to open iTunes by holding down the OPTION key to get the prompt to open an alternate library...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304447
    In theory both computer would then use all the same files including the database files so they both would know what is what. As I said, "in theory" as I have never tried this, so while it seems to me it may work, this is of course a "try at your own risk" suggestion and be sure you back up the whole library while you try this for a while to see if over time your library is ok or starts to go nutty.
    As to your question about the MacBook on the road, using the same technique you can start a new library on the MacBook and add a smaller subset of tunes from the main library folder on the external and allow itunes to copy them to the MacBook. Periodically you can update that by removing stuff and adding stuff. But at home you can open with OPTION key and choose the external. On the road, open with OPTION key and select the internal library. They won't be consolidated, but at least it gives you a few gigs of stuff you can carry around with you.

  • New computer, library transfer possible?

    OK so I had a breaking Macbook Pro, now have a new Macbook, I need to know how to transfer my library to my Macbook (I have an iPod Video that fits my library if it helps) but the bigger problem is when I backed up my iTunes on my BREAKING Macbook Pro, it made duplicates of every third album, I need to get rid of these before I transfer (should I do it after?) my question is:
    is this feasable, and if so, how?

    Nevermind, I overlooked the really obvious directions on the website. sorry.

    Would it be possible to have a SQL/IIS configuration plan that we can share with a customer and have in this plan the minimum requiremnts regarding settings and autorisations?
    I suspect there is something wrong with their SQL or IIS settings however I didn't succeed to determine that.
    Or if their is a possibility to share their settings here and get feedback on that to solve the issue?

    The "Method Not Allowed" message is a very common message, meaning that there are problems in GET/POST actions.
    To answer your question about teh basic IIS configuration:
    The Roles must include IIS default features and under IIS Authentication you must enable Windows Based authentication if you plan to use this. If you plan to use forms authenticaton you don't need this option under the IIS Role. In that case the basic authentication is fine.
    Under Features I recommend also to set teh option on for ASP.NET and especially the option for WCF activation. Without it might also work, but this installs the .Net framework properly. Then install UPK 11 and let UPK install .Net framework 4.
    If you installed .Net framework 4 manually, make sure it is registered properly, for example with the command: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -ir
