UPK Template Customization (XML/XSL)

Hi all,
I've created a content in Oracle UPK 11.1.0 developers edition. My concern here is that, during string input of data for e.g., Enter the approriate month, for instance October*. Help text will appear in See It!, Try It! and Know It!, but in Do It! mode the same available instruction will be displayed. What I want in this case, in Do It! mode I need to insert generic text rather than template text. Hence, I want to edit this in Template.xml, associated with two additional xlst files in the Library > Systems > Templates > en > Microsoft - English > Template.xml. Is it possible to edit the xml and xlst and implement the above said. Please let me know, if you require any additional information.

I'm not trying to be difficult...I'm explaining my problem as best as I know how. I didn't realize that alban was asking for input...frankly I didn't understand his "ISP happy you're not using much bandwidth" comments and while I realize a more experienced person probably would have known he wanted input, I didn't and I would have gladly provided it if the request had been explicit. Perhaps this isn't the place for me to ask a question as someone not well versed in xml/xsl but I have provided the input below in case this might help someone help me.
1 - java code executes sql query
2 - sql query returns resultSet to java code (see below resultSet)
3 - java code passes resultSet to xsl template file that I included in my initial post

JAXP working with XML-XSL files - urgent help

I have the code below to transform xml file into html file using xsl file:
Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer(new StreamSource("D:/Test/26120108026263560502.xsl"));
transformer.transform(new StreamSource("D:/Test/26120108028469387014574415483532664948806162003.xml"), new StreamResult(new FileOutputStream("D:/Test/Test.html")));

The files work fine when I use msxsl.exe without any errors. I forgot to mention that dispite all the errors, JAXP still creates the html file but seeing the errors is not a good thing.

How to modify Data Template ARXSGPO.xml

We are on EBS 12.1.1. My client want to customize AR Customer Balance Statement Letter. They need rtf to be modified as well as some additional info for which I need to modify Data Template ARXSGPO.xml .
But I am not able to modify above xml file. Update File button has been disabled. Could someone tell me how I can update existing xml file ?

You could use the XDOLoader command to upload data templates.

But it would be better if you could create a custom report and attach the new date template, instead of modifying the standard report.

Urgent! How to suppress indents in output from (XML , XSL) -- HTML

I make transformation (XML , XSL) --> HTML using parser v2 of Oracle XDK for Java v 9.2.0.2.0
I want to generate html in which several tags will follow one after another without new line, and indents.
Like this

Only in this case images will be visualized in IE5 together without spaces.
But xsl-processor is formatting output text: put each tag on new line and make indents for child tags.
I tried to
1) eliminate white spaces in xsl
2) use <xsl:output indent="no"/>
3) use <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
4) use method setPreserveWhitespace(true/false) of XMLParser (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParser)
Xsl-processor continue to format output text.

I am trying to get the "Hello World" XML/XSL example to work in IE.
Could anyone help me out?

and take a look at the "note" in red.
It says that IE5.X have non-standard behavior on the element <xsl:template>
In addition, I have tested your code it works fine.
Just to add something on your code here.
I noticed that you do this
<xsl:apply-templates select="greeter"/>
and then in another template you do this
<xsl:template match="greeter">

</xsl:template>
In this case, it does work because "greeter" is a top-level element but if "greeter" is anything underneath the top-level element. It won't work.
Actually, I discovered this after taking a look at your example and
I was surprised that the code above worked and then I did some testing and discovered this.
I am learning XML too now... So, I am happy to know this :).

That's sort of what I thought you meant.
So, it appears you want a
element to appear in your HTML, which will look like a newline to the person looking at the browser.
But you don't have a
element in your input XML document. You have some text comprising five (no, six) characters which looks like a
element, and that's not the same thing. And for some reason you've gone out of your way to put text rather than markup in the original document, when your requirements were to have the markup in the output.
And then I see you tried to use disable-output-escaping to counteract the effect of that design error. However since you spelled that incorrectly, it didn't take effect.
My approach would be to generate the
element as markup in the XML document, rather than using a CDATA section to make it into text. And then I would use <xsl:copy-of> rather than <xsl:value-of>, to avoid copying only the text parts of that <username> element.

Xml xsl null tags

When processing xml using xsl our null tags are converting to end tags only. See below:

How do I generate HTML from XML & XSL using XSL Processor ?

I want to generate a HTML from XML & XSL using XDK for C on
linux-8i.
I run the XSLSample well.
But it only generate a XML from a XML & a XSL.
Can any one give me some advise or sample code?

Weaknesses I've come across in the Oracle XML/XSL implementation

Weaknesses I've come across in the Oracle XML/XSL implementation
NOTE: I think Oracle is a fantastic database and the XML implementation is lovely to use - also I know these are not limited to XE and also that some are fixed in 11g enterprise however I'm not sure if all are so I am posting here in the hope that Oracle will include fixes for all if any have been missed
1. getclobval() returns a spurious carriage return on end of the value returned
2. extract does not handle mixed content tags well (for example it simply discards tags that only have whitespace between them
3. XSL: using a xsl:number level="multiple" with anything beyond a simple count= xpath value crashes the database completely
4. XSL: insists on pretty printing output XML which is extremely odd behaviour and causes problems when dealing with mixed content

Another weakness I've seen is with the appendchildxml function and mixed content xml - it appears to likewise pretty print XML causing the injection of carriage returns and whitespace into mixed content nodes

It needs to connect to the sample scott schema, hopefully you have it installed?

Error while trying to update the XML template using XML Publisher Administrator

Hello Folks,
We are on R12.1.3
I changed a condition in a report and trying to upload the new XML template using XML Publisher Administrator.
when i click the Apply button, it is throwing an error 'Bad Request'
Navigation : XML Publisher Administrator > Data Definitions > query the report
Click on the name of the report > click 'Update file' besides Data Template > Choose file > Click Apply
I am getting the below error
Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Now, i could not upload a new XML template.
Am I doing anything wrong.

How Can I apply a RTF Function on a variable in RTF Template in XML Publisher Report

I am developing a RTF Template of XML Publisher Report, I have a variable lv_counter which I can declare using below syntax

I can access this variable in the template as <?xdoxslt: get_variable($_XDOCTX,'lv_counter')?>
My need is to print the variable in words in the RTF Template. I am using <?xdofx: to_check_number(xdoxslt: get_variable($_XDOCTX,'lv_counter'))?>
But this is not working. any help will be appreciated thanks in advance
The XML Publisher Desktop version which I am using is 10.1.3.3.0

Is it possible to display a date as (DD-MON-YYYY) in excel output using excel template in xml publisher where date should be displayed as date only not string.

I've tried to use hierarchy node variables, but it seems like you can't specify a attribute of the hierarchy such as level. So with the WBS hierarchy, if you create a hierarchy node variable, you specify the WBS value to select (If I understand this correctly). I wish I could instead specify "give me all the WBS nodes that happen to have the value of the level attribute greater or equal to 3. If I understand Juergens post, he is saying make security access so that only certain WBS levels can be returned in the query. I suppose we can try that, but that would then preclude getting the level 1 and 2 in the future if the authorization is global.
