Upload an animated gif to a servlet?

Has anyone got any experiences of uploading "animated gifs" from a html-form to a server running apache webserver with j2ee? Im using struts framework, but I dont think thats got anything to do with the problem.

animated or not, a file is a file, you just upload it:
You can use MultiPartRequest (I think that's what it's called) from O'Reilly, or you can implement yourself with ObjectOutputStream, very easy, lots of tutorials.

  • How to edit a Animated Gif file and convert to SWF

    I am using the creative cloud with fireworks. I chose the free trial with buying in mind if I saw it work properly. I simply want to upload an animated GIF file and then download it as a SWF file. I saw someone on youtube do this and it's not that if I get on the correct page I would not know how to do that but I just cannot find how to get the GIF into the software to edit. It has just simply put them in the creative cloud folder which can open them on IE> How do i make it available to edit and convert to SWF please? Thanks in advance.

    You will likely get better program help in a program forum
    The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
    The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process

  • Animated .gif in HTML article won't upload

    Hello!
    I have an article built with HTML; although largeish and complicated (js, video, blah blah blah), it imports from the Folio panel just fine.....until I put the animated .gifs back into the layout.
    With animated .gifs, the folio panel spins (slowly) at the "building" bar, runs the CPU load up to 50%, and never ever does anything else. (I've left it overnight even.) The web Folio Producer will show an article with an alert: "Corrupt layout. Delete and try adding article again."
    I've made a stripped-down HTML page with a single .gif and it fails just as hard.
    Anyone else noticing this? How do we get this to work? Expensive project is on deadline...
    Thanks!!
    -Miriam

    Please share the folio with [email protected] and let me know what page within what article is causing the crash. I also need to know what version of InDesign is being used, OS and version, what version of the FOlio Builder panel and if you are on CS5 or CS5.5 what version of the digital publishing plug in.

  • Problems/help with animated GIF exports

    I am an experienced Photoshop user.  I recently upgraded to CS5 (Windows) and have been attempting to produce animated gif files.
    After reading a few tutorials on the topic, I have been able to:
    Create a PSD with a few jpg images as layers;
    Move the layers to the animation window;
    Set the cycle times and optimize the animation window; and,
    Use the Save for Web Devices dialog to create the GIF file.
    Everything appears to be normal throughout this process.  However, the exported GIF file appears as a dark gray frame when I open it in IE, or upload it to my image hosting site.
    Anybody else experiencing this type of problem?
    Thanks

    No, my Photoshop CS5 saves animated GIFs just fine, and I did just what you said.  For example (you have to click on an image here to see it animate):
    Can you post your image here?  Maybe it could be a problem with your browser not animating the image properly?  What version of IE do you use?

  • Animated .gif not moving

    I've been intrigued by the new animated "postcards" or cinemagraphs (for example, see http://fromme-toyou.tumblr.com/tagged/gif). I found a great tutorial about how to do this using Photoshop Extended and the animation panel. I created my own, and then followed the instructions for saving the file:
    1. "Save for Web and Devices"
    2. make sure to save as GIF, looped "forever"
    When I previewed the gif (from the "save for web and devices" dialog box), it worked great.
    But when I save the gif, it doesn't move. It is just one frame of the animation, as a static photo. When I click the file, I get a "Preview" that shows all the frames, but I can't ever get it to move.
    Is there a step I'm missing? Or is there some operating system setting I need to change? I've never created an animated gif before, but I can see other people's animated gifs in my email. (I'm attaching my gif in case you can figure it out from that.)
    OKAY...I looked at the attachment, and it moves (my dog's eyes). This is the only time it has worked. I've tried to email it, post it on Tumblr, open it in my browser, but it never worked. Now, I post it here, and--at least as I look at the attachment--it works here. How can I get it to move when I post it online or try to send it via email?
    I'm running Mac OSX 10.6, Photoshop CS 5.1.
    Thank you!
    Carol

    Some email clients disable animated GIFs.
    Web sites like Tumblr that have image upload functions may further process your file during upload by removing its animated features. You could control this by hosting images on your own web site.
    In general, animated GIF files are not ideal for emails because of their large size. GIF is an inefficient format for photorealistic animation/video.

  • Animated gif only plays one time??

    An animated gif created in Photoshop and exported with 'loop forever' output only loops once on my home page. I have not resized, cropped it or added any effects but as it plays once Muse can't have rasterized it.
    I am using adobe muse cc 7.1 build 329, OSX 10.9
    the lilly in the top left gif image should animate continuously. - jimmymcgilchrist.comhttp://www.jimmymcgilchrist.com/index.html
    any assistance appreciated.
    Jimmy

    Hi DrStrik9,
    Thanks, I just tried it directly in the browser and it works fine. When previewing in the finder window on my desktop it works fine as well.
    I have had animated gifs working fine previously on the same muse site as a browser fill and as buttons.
    Nothing has changed about the way I make the animation but these are some variables that have changed:
    - update Operating System from OSX 10.8 to 10.9
    - udate to current muse version
    - switch from Godaddy - wordpress hosting to Adobe Business Catalyst
    - upload via 'publish' within muse rather than via 'upload to FTP host' within muse.
    Thanks,
    Jimmy

  • I finished making an animated .gif image in FireWorks. My question is, how do I convert it into video so that when I edit video, that every video editing program recognizes it? Long story short, How do I convert animated .gif files into video formats?

    I worked in Adobe FireWorks to make the animated .gif. What program do I use to convert the file from .gif to any video format: .mp4, .m4v, .avi, .wmv, etc. I want to convert it into video format, so that QuickTime Player plays the video, I can insert it into iMovie '11 and edit, and also insert it into Final Cut Pro X and edit video.

    Thanks for getting back with me so promptly.  It has taken me this time to connect with the proper people to find out the information you requested.
    The camera used to film the class was a Panasonic AG-HMC40P, owned by a local cable TV station; they use Kodak video encoding software, and a SD card was used to store the video.   The file extension is .mts, and the mime file is MPEG 2 transport.  He said I probably need an AVCHD converter, and the Mac app store lists 8 of those options, 4 free and 4 for up to $9.99.  He said I'll also need a converter for later plans of posting on YouTube or on the website, and while some of those in the app store might work for the later needs, he knows one app called "Compressor" that would work for the uploading later.  He also suggested I could try renaming the .mts file to .MP2T, but he wasn't sure that would work.
    They don't work with Macs at the studio, but I had thought I could have some lessons there in editing, and apply what I learned to my iMac and iMovie.
    First, though, I have to be able to see it and review it!
    Thanks again!

  • Animated gif in photoshop

    Hi
    I'm running Photoshop 7 on a MacBook Pro. I previously used photoshop on a PC.
    I created an animation using layers, and saved it as an optimised gif. However, when I tired to upload it to MySpace it would load: error message said it was an unsupported format.
    I didn't have this problem before on the PC - any ideas what is different or how I can fix it?
    THanks
    Seamus

    Hi, my apologies if that sounded condescending. Indeed I'm getting the same error as you do when trying to upload animated gif files created in either PS CS2 or IR CS2. I don't know what this site's problem is, because my gifs run in any browser. I have found that myspace accepts a gif file only when I open it in Safari and drag it from the browser window to the desktop first. Go figure.
    I know it's annoying to have to open every gif file in Safari and drag it from the browser to the desktop, but at least it works this way.
    It might just be some optimization setting in IR, although I wouldn't know what.
    Good luck

  • Animated .gif in JTable cell

    Hi -
    I have an actual animated .gif that I would like to display in a JTable's cell. By 'actual animated .gif', I mean that it is one file that is animated, and not a succession of files that I would loop through to look like animation.
    I have edited the following code that I found in a previous post. My .gif does display in the JTable and animates only ONCE. Once it animates once, it stops. How can I cause it to keep looping through and repeating the animation?
    Thanks!
    Kelly
    Code below:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import javax.swing.*;

    public class AnimatedIconTableExample extends JFrame
    public AnimatedIconTableExample()
    super("AnimatedIconTable Example");
    final Object[][] data = new Object[][]
    { new ImageIcon("images/Upload.gif") }
    final Object[] column = new Object[]
    { "Image Uploading" };
    AbstractTableModel model = new AbstractTableModel()
    public int getColumnCount()
    return column.length;
    public int getRowCount()
    return data.length;
    public String getColumnName(int col)
    return (String) column[col];
    public Object getValueAt(int row, int col)
    return data[row][col];
    public Class getColumnClass(int col)
    return ImageIcon.class;
    JTable table = new JTable(model);
    table.setRowHeight(50);
    setImageObserver(table);
    JScrollPane pane = new JScrollPane(table);
    getContentPane().add(pane);
    private void setImageObserver(JTable table)
    TableModel model = table.getModel();
    int colCount = model.getColumnCount();
    int rowCount = model.getRowCount();
    for (int col = 0; col < colCount; col++)
    if (ImageIcon.class == model.getColumnClass(col))
    for (int row = 0; row < rowCount; row++)
    ImageIcon icon = (ImageIcon) model.getValueAt(row, col);
    if (icon != null)
    icon.setImageObserver(new CellImageObserver(table, row,
    col));
    class CellImageObserver implements ImageObserver
    JTable table;
    int row;
    int col;
    CellImageObserver(JTable table, int row, int col)
    this.table = table;
    this.row = row;
    this.col = col;
    public boolean imageUpdate(Image img, int flags, int x, int y, int w,
    int h)
    if ((flags & (FRAMEBITS | ALLBITS)) != 0)
    Rectangle rect = table.getCellRect(row, col, false);
    table.repaint(rect);
    return (flags & (ALLBITS | ABORT)) == 0;
    public static void main(String[] args)
    AnimatedIconTableExample frame = new AnimatedIconTableExample();
    frame.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter()
    public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e)
    System.exit(0);
    frame.setSize(300, 150);
    frame.setVisible(true);

    I've heard of that problem before... I think it has something to do with how the image is loaded. I found an example of how Sun does animated gifs here: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/2D/samples/suite/Image/DukeAnim.java
    I hope it helps.

  • Animated Gif files in Captivate

    I have created an animated GIF file in Photoshop that i want to use in my captivate file.
    The file wont preview in any of the preview modes other than the HTML5 output preview. All other previews just show the first frame of the GIF file.
    If i chose to SWAP the animation with another GIF from the library the preview shows the animation playing.. see attached
    Is there something im doing wrong here.
    I guess i could upload my final file to the LMS with HTML5 output as this preview shows the animation but i also read there are limitations with this output as some transitions / effects dont work.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
    Yes, you can verify whether your GIF would fucntion correctly on HTML5 platform by Window--HTML5 Tracker Pod.
    I am not an expert on Photoshop, but still would like to make a recommendation.
    Set the 'delay' value for each of your Frame to 0.01 or some value if it shows as 0, this can be done using the animation frame Window. Save it as GIF again for Web Devices and import in Captivate, see, if you are abale to preview this time.
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai

  • Iweb animated GIF problem

    I have created a website in iweb and the homepage has an animated gif on it that plays well on MAC. How can I get an animated gif to play on PC. It keep converting the file to a .mov file when I look at the files that are uploaded to the server and PC doesn't seem to recognise it as a broken link cross is showing on all PC's

    Upload the GIF to a folder in the root folder on your server. Use this code in an HTML Snippet...
    <img src="http://www.domain.com/Folder/File-Name.gif" width="400">
    Adjust the "width" to suit the image.

  • How do I stop playing animated GIF's within web pages?

    Various websites display numerous images available for download. Some of those images are animated GIF files. These files take time to load and chew up a lot of my limited upload/download usage. IE Explorer let me see a single image for the GIF but doesn't load or play the GIF. How do I get that same setting in Mozilla Fire Fox?

    hello vyoumans,
    i found a couple different ways this can be done.
    1. this firefox addon, [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toggle-animated-gifs/ Toggle animated GIFs], seems to work pretty good. ctrl+m toggles the animations on and off.
    2. if you don't want to install an addon, you can go to your browser configuration file. type ''about:config'' in the address bar and find the entry ''image.animation_mode''. double click it and set its value to ''none''. this should disable all GIF animations

  • Cannot email animated gif's

    I've recently downloaded several small sized animated .gif files on safari to the iphone camera roll, and I cannot email this file for whatever reason. I get "Saving file" when I "Email Photo" and it will continue saving the file in a loop, which is quite odd since the file is already saved on the iphone. This happens on any of the animated gif files I have on the phone. I figured since I can download that file rather quickly, is it the upload that is slowing things down? I have left some running for over 15 minutes with no avail. I have a 16GB iPhone 3GS. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks.

  • Lumia 920 animated GIF's

    When emailing or texting from the Lumia 920, will users outside of Nokia be able to fully view animated GIF's?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Coolatta75,
    I think I have found a solution for you. I have just tried this on my Lumia 920 and it works. Goto Photos then Camera Roll then open the Cinemagraph GIF and select ...
    then select Save To Skydrive, and it will upload the GIF. If you are using Windows 8 (or if you don't have Windows 8, you can access SkyDrive on the web-based version), and download it and open it in Internet Explorer. It will work and play. Please remember that the recipient will always view it as a static MMS unless they have an app on their phone that can play animated GIF's, same applies to recipients who view it on their computer. I suggest sending it to their email and they can open it on their computer.
    Let us know how you get on.

  • Animated GIF--Quality and File Size

    I'm having a hard time getting a quality image and a decent file size.
    Even if I save animated GIFs and open with PE an try to resave them, the motion is choppy and the file size is more than double the original.
    For example, the following image is less than 10K and plays quite smoothely, but no way can I duplicate such a simple graphic under 10K:
    http://thequackshack.com/forums/radio/style_images/Borderli-546/ad_banner.gif
    It also seems that others can control the duration of frames individually...
    Most of my GIFs end up around 300K, which will not be accepted. A compromise of poor quality will also not be considered.
    What can I do?
    I've tried lowering Dither and colors, but the results are poor. My graphics will not be used if they are so large or of poor quality.
    Here is a couple that I made:

    I am not an animation expert, but I copied two of your examples. On the example you say is under 10K, there are about 35 layers. On your example there are about 65 layers. I'm wondering if reducing the number of layers would get you what you want.
    As for controlling duration of frames, I assume you want Frame 1 to be 0.5 second, Frame 2 to be 1 second etc. I think PSE puts a uniform time between frames. This can be adjusted, but it is adjusted all frames. One workaround I've seen is to copy a layer. So if the timing interval is 0.5 seconds, you would have the same image show for 0.5 seconds X 2 = 1 second.
    This is about all I know on animated GIFS.
