URGENT: ADF locks data

Hi,
We have a problem with an UI module we have built using ADF. The application is in production and we're facing, time-to-time, strange data locking issues.
We have noticed that blocks inside a the DB table showed in the UI but also used by other application modules are blocked w/o reason. After deeper investigation we have noticed in OEM that somebody was executing:
SELECT columns FROM table WHERE ..... FOR UPDATE
Tracing the statement, we have succeeded in identifying the responsible for this request: the UI built in ADF.
Our ADF module is deployed in cluster on 2 OAS nodes.
Please advice us. We've found out that ADF is using SELECT FOR UPDATE to do row-level locking, but could we avoid this data lock? Other modules needs to update data inside that table.
Any suggestion/comment is highly appreciated.

Hello user,
I assume this is a web application? Are your applications set to use optimistic locking mode? Check out section 28.9.1 of the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers for more information. A brief cut from there:
Oracle recommends using optimistic locking for web applications. Pessimistic locking,
which is the default, should not be used for web applications as it creates pending
transactional state in the database in the form of row-level locks

STS u0096 Status buttons and locked data after approving

Hello!
I have some difficulties to customize STS and to lock data with the Approve status:
With a bottom-up organization, a low level (User A) sends for approval to his superior (User B), then the superior approves. Then the data are normally locked for User A.
But User A has always the possibility to click on the button Open planning and key-in/save data on the input form. And I dont understand what is wrong.
I hope my explanation is clear and sufficient.

According the OSS note, my user has only the authorization R_STS_PT and its a bottom-up session. But I must use Header selections for the planning session? I have done some tests with this option and it wasnt conclusive. At this moment I have no restriction/value in the option Define Header Chars for planning session.
And I dont understand the sdn topic link. There is no relation with my problem?

STS not locking data and layout

Hi, we are trying to use STS for approval. We have it configured and it seems to work fine but it does not lock the data when it is "approved". I check the tables UPS_LOCKS and UPS_HASH and the seem in sync, after the approval there is an entry in UPS_LOCKS. I tried a data slice and it locks fine. For the hierarchy, I am using a reference infoobject called ZPLNT_CO in which the actual hieraercy is build on 0COMP_CODE, could this be the problem?, although it did import properly into STS .
Does the authorization objects need to have an activity other than 16?
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance, Scott

We have not found that STS is very satisfactory for locking submitted data on status change. It depends somewhat on your organisation and how your planners can work in the organisation: for example take a look at previous thread
[STS and locking|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=9479206&messageID=4221273].
So STS appears to lock data in all units for which a user plans, and other users may not be affected by the lock. So it appears to work best if there is a one-to-one relation between users and units which they plan.
I could be wrong, but that has been my impression.
(We are using SAP GUI entry of data).

I am deploying my application components on Oracle RAC database, when i install my app component i will run a script which creates a user and tablespace on bot rac-nodes(node1 and node2)
as database is clustered, the user are created on 2 nodes and tablespace is stored in a shared location for two rac nodes
i am able to successfully run my script on rac-node1 and and installed my component and when i started installing the app component on node2 getting error
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 7 - see DBWR trace file
ORA-01110: data file 7: '/db/db/db/ora10g/10.2.0/admin/dbadmin_01.dbf'

i a mgetting error while installing the app component on rac-node2

You should not create database files outside of the ASM.
I'm not sure you can move the datafile, I would export the data from the tablespace (if there is data you need there), delete the tablespace and recreate it in the ASM, then import the data back.
If you want to move the datafile, you can try using RMAN (from node1).
First connect to the database with sqlplus and execute:
alter tablespace <tbs_name> offline;Then start RMAN: rman target /
BACKUP AS COPY DATAFILE '<file>' FORMAT '+<ASM_DG>';Then in sqlplus, execute:
alter tablespace <tbs_name> online;I'm not sure it will work, and I hope I got the commands right because I can't check it right now.

My datafiles are in ASM file system, however the only one file ACIPEN_DATA is the one, which is not in ASM file system, and this the file which is in concern.
We are getting the following exception in the lxkratgas1.lex1.lexmark.com when connecting to ACIPEN_DATA.

Hi,
i have a primary database and standby database (11.2.0.1.0) running in ASM with different diskgroup names. I applied an incremental backup on standby database to resolve archive log gap and generated a controlfile for standby in primary database and restored the controlfile in standby database.But when i started the MRP process its not starting and thows error in alert log ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file. When i queried the standby database file it shows the location on primary database datafiles names not the standby database.

Then I created a disk group:

Then I created a new tablespace:

I did all this operations from NODE1.
What is happening now is that everytime I try to read something from new diskgroup FROM NODE2 I get the ORA-01157:
ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 13 - see DBWR trace file
ORA-01110: data file 13: '+STORE/evodb/datafile/store.256.719232707
No problem to read from NODE1.
The simple query on dba_data_file work from NODE1 and fails from NODE2 with the ORA-01157.
I found this on the alert log:

Lock Data: Enqueue and Dequeue

Im trying to lock data from vb.net but it didnt work out.
I pass the variable to my function module and inside the function contains below codes.
eg:

I open multiple screen (VB.net) but still it didnt lock the data. I dont know where it gone wrong. But when I try in SAP itself it works. I open multiple session and it detects and it locks the data.

Yup, i tried your solution but it didnt work out also.
Then I check for the Allow RFC (Remote Function Call). Meaning to say, I can access the function module from the VB.Net. I thought it's going to work but it didnt. I change from cumulative to not cumulative. After that, I also check in the SM12 (Lock Entries). There is no lock entries.

Error when I try to lock data

When I try to lock data for an entity for 1 year, 1 month and 1 scenario I get the following message
"Cannot complete this action because calculations, translations, or consolidations need to be performed"
When I look in process control however everything is ok...

In case it would have been validation thing the message would have read "validations need to be performed". Have you changes your metadata after uploading the balances in the system? If yes then, were there any journals that were posted with the deleted accounts. Does the consolidation happen completely?

Unable to view locked data in Data Forms

Hi,
Does anyone know why we are not able to view locked data (it just shows empty orange cells) in Data Entry Forms? We added a column to the Data Form with the prior quarter information. This is just for information purposes and not for entering data, so the users see in one single form what they entered in the prior quarter. Unfortunately the cells do not show any data when the prior quarter is locked.

Locking Data in Consolidation Grid

Hello all -
I'm wondering if there is a way to lock/unlock the data on the standard consolidation grid (the one under Process Management). I don't see anything, but everything else can be done there - process management, translations, etc. It seems odd that the users will need another grid solely to lock data with. Am I missing something?

I'm sorry Sarah, I overlooked that in your initial comment. The Process Control module was designed really to facilitate consolidation and process management. It makes sense to me that entity Lock/Unlock should be added to this. I will present this to product management for a future release idea. Based on some future intended changes, it seems likely we can add this to the product, but for now you will have to switch to the normal web grids in order to lock data.

Hi Abhai,
The class (actually Interface) you're looking for is IUserAccount. You can get this from the IUser by using the method getUserAccounts().
The IUserAccount provides all sort of methods like lockDate(), isLocked(), getLockReason().

CREATE DISKGROUP EMTPRD0X_SSD01 NORMAL REDUNDANCY
FAILGROUP RS1 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_primary' NAME ssd_prim
FAILGROUP RS2 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_backup' NAME ssd_bkup;
and then created a temporary tablespace on top of that diskgroup:
create temporary tablespace temp04 tempfile '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g;
Everything seemed fine at first and then end users started seeing the following errors in the alert log:
SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was mounted
SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was dismounted
SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was mounted
SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was dismounted

Errors in file /opt/oracle/oradump/emtprd02/udump/emtprd02_ora_11578.trc:
ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 3009 - see DBWR trace file
ORA-01110: data file 3009: '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01/emtprd0x/tempfile/temp04.256.732210281'
After talking with Oracle support I was told that the only workaround for diskgroups unmounting themselves is to put a control file/redo log/dummy tablespace inside of that diskgroup and continually write/read from it.
Does that make sense?
They pointed me to note 603204.1 - Why FRA Diskgroup Gets Mounted/Dismounted.
The system is a 3 node Oracle 10.2.0.4 rac running on ASM Solaris x86 64bit.
Any ideas?

Post Operating System (OS) name & version for DB server system.
Post results of
SELECT * from v$version
My db is not in archivelog mode poor choice
and no backup was taken. Worse choise
Is there any way I can recover this db? Recover as in no data loss?
Very doubtful.
Possible to open with data loss.
