Urgent: Finding sessions in SQL server 2000

Hi,
Can you help me how to find out sessions in SQL Server 2000.
Also is there any way to see the outstanding sessions for a database?
Thanks in advance,
Vasu.

You can do this graphically in Enterprise Manager, or you can use this script:
SET NOCOUNT ON
create table #ProcCheck(
 Status varchar(50) ,
 SPID int ,
 CPU int ,
 Pys_IO int ,
 WaitTime int ,
 BlockSPID int ,
 HostName varchar(36) ,
 ProgName varchar(100) ,
 NTUser varchar(50) ,
 LoginTime datetime ,
 LastBatch datetime ,
 OpenTrans int ,
 LastCmd varchar(4000))
create table #ProcInfo(
 EventType varchar(100) ,
 Parameters int ,
 EventInfo varchar(7000)
INSERT INTO #ProcCheck(Status, SPID, CPU, Pys_IO, WaitTime, BlockSPID, HostName, ProgName, NTUSer, LoginTime, LastBatch, OpenTrans)
SELECT status, SPID, CPU, Physical_IO, WaitTime, Blocked, SUBSTRING(HostName, 1, 36), SUBSTRING(Program_Name, 1, 100), SUBSTRING(nt_username, 1, 50), Login_Time, Last_Batch, Open_Tran
FROM master..sysprocesses
where (blocked > 0
or spid in (select blocked from master..sysprocesses (NOLOCK) where blocked > 0)
or open_tran > 0)
and SPID <> @@SPID
declare @spid int ,
 @cmd varchar(7000)
declare Procs cursor fast_forward for
SELECT SPID FROM #ProcCheck
OPEN Procs
FETCH NEXT FROM Procs INTO @SPID
WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0
 BEGIN
 SET @cmd = 'DBCC INPUTBUFFER(' + CONVERT(varchar, @SPID) + ')'
 INSERT INTO #ProcInfo
 EXEC(@cmd)
 SELECT @cmd = EventInfo
 FROM #ProcInfo
 DELETE FROM #ProcInfo
 UPDATE #ProcCheck
 SET LastCmd = SUBSTRING(@cmd, 1, 500)
 WHERE SPID = @SPID
 FETCH NEXT FROM Procs INTO @SPID
 END
CLOSE Procs
DEALLOCATE Procs
SELECT * FROM #ProcCheck
DROP TABLE #ProcCheck
DROP TABLE #ProcInfo

  • How can i connect to a SQL Server 2000 database usgin JSP?

    I need (URGENT) to connect to SQL Server 2000 databse using JSP. I do not know how to program using JSP, so if anyone has any code snippet please let me see it. What i need is to give my site some login/password security.
    Anyone?
    Thx.

    just create an ODBC of your database from control pannel -> administrative tools -> data sources (ODBC) ,double click it .....
    go to the tab SYstem DSN , click on ADD button. select the driver for your connection. it will be the last one in the list "SQL Server".
    click Next then give ur DSN name there, description and Server Name , on next give your username and password of SQL server. when it will be connected to the server celect your database from there and hence there will be an ODBC bridge same as in case of MS Access.
    code for connecting to ODBC is
    // DSN-NAME same as in System DSN.
    // username and password are of your databse
    try
              url = "jdbc:odbc:DSN-NAME";
              Class.forName( "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" );
              connect = DriverManager.getConnection( url,"username","password" );
              catch ( ClassNotFoundException cnfex ) {
                        setErrorMsg( cnfex.getMessage() );
              catch ( SQLException sqlex ) {
                        setErrorMsg( sqlex.getMessage() );
              catch ( Exception ex ) {
                        setErrorMsg( ex.getMessage() );
    Now you are connected to the SQL Server ..... use connect object for further processing .........

  • Find SA password in sql server 2000

    Hi Team
    i have 2 sql servers
    1. sql server 2000
    2. Sql server 2008R2
    now i'm migrating some database from old server to new sql server
    but i forgot  my SA password on my old server (sql2000)and no one has sys admin access
    can any one help me how do i  get sa password
    could you plz tell me step by step process
    Kamal

    Hi,
    You cannot find SA password as a fact you cannot see any password for SQL server its hashed. Below article would help you in logging in SQL server when all administrators are locked out I am not sure whether it will work in SQL server 2000 as I barely remember
    having such issue on 2000
    In SQL server 2005 if started with -m option any user who is member of Built in administrator ( or added as admin in local windows account) can connect regardless of whether the BUILTIN\Administrators group has been granted a server login that is provisioned
    in the SYSADMIN fixed server role. This behavior is by design. This behavior is intended to be used for data recovery scenarios. Check if same holds for SQL 2000 as well
    Connect to SQL server when Sysadmins are locked out
    Do you have any other login which is member of sysadmin. I cannot find a reason to shutdown SQL Server what if its a production DB ( yes I know few SQL 2000 which are still production) use backup restore to move databases always.

    Can some please guide me how do I check  Collation setting for Analysis services in Sql server 2000
    i need it to install Analysis servcies on my machine

    Hi SMV123,
    We can find the collation settings for Analysis services in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Connect to the SSAS instance from within SSMS->Right click on the instance and select Properties->An Analysis Server properties page will appear. And then
    on the left hand side is a Language /collation option.
    Besides, here is a link about how to install SQL Server Analysis Services 2000 for your reference.

  • Urgent:db link from oracle 10g to sql server 2000

    Hi
    I have a db link 10g from oracle to sql server 2000. This was created a couple of years ago. This is working.
    I have now created another db link from same oracle server to the same sql server but it is not working.
    But I am getting ORA-28500 and IM002 error
    .Please advise.
    I am unable to understand what is wrong because I have followed the hs odbc set up on this db link in the same way as I had done 2 yrs ago.
    Thanks
    Shailaja

    Just sorted the problem.
    Basically I am using HSODBC to communicate from Oracle (on windows 2003 64 bit)  to SQL Server.
    To do this, I need to create a ODBC connection from Oracle to SQL Server.
    HSODBC is a 32 bit application and hence we have to use the ODBC 32 bit driver when we create the ODBC connection.
    When I created the  ODBC connection from Oracle to SQL Server, I was using the ODBC 64 bit driver and hence the system was unable to find the data source name.
    I have now created ODBC connection from Oracle to SQL Server using the ODBC 32 bit driver and everything works fine now.
    No offence to anyone but as you all work using Oracle software , I was hoping a better response than some of the above responses. You can just say that you didnt understand the question or you dont know the reason why that happened.
    I just listed how the problem was sorted so that any one in future having the same problem can benefit.

  • Where can I find a sql server 2000 driver which supports JDBC 2.0?

    Where can I find a sql server 2000 driver which supports JDBC 2.0?
    Thanks!
    Paul.

    Here is another.
    http://www.datadirect-technologies.com/download/downloadindex.asp
    The JDBC 3.0 driver will work in a JDBC 2.0 environment (i.e with J2SE 1.2 or 1.3)
    provided you use only JDBC 2.0 features of the driver

  • URGENT ! Using Sun's J2EE RI Server with MS SQL Server 2000

    I'm using the J2EE Server that comes with the J2EE 1.3.1 package from Sun. I'm trying to load a datasource using the free MS SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC, but I'm always getting this error (I've run out of ideas so maybe someone in this forum can help):
    java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.rmi.RemoteException: nested exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException: Unable to connect to database. No suitable driver; nested exception is: javax.ejb.EJBException: Unable to connect to database. No suitable driver ...
    I'm using MS SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC, my classpath setting is:
    CLASSPATH=D:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\lib\ext\mysql-connector-j-2.0.14;D:\MS-JDBC-Driver\lib\msbase.jar;D:\MS-JDBC-Driver\lib\mssqlserver.jar;D:\MS-JDBC-Driver\lib\msutil.jar;E:\Installers\Java Related\jdbc dirvers\JSQLConnect3_27\JSQLConnect.jar
    I have the same J2EE_CLASSPATH setting in my userconfig.bat file.
    I've loaded this driver class in deploytool:
    com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    and my connection url is:
    jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databasename=test
    What's weird is that I've also tested these settings with a simple Java Application and they worked fine, but when I try to use the same for the j2ee server from sun, I always get the annoying "no suitable driver" error.
    If anyone has ever come up with a solution that works, please help. You may post you reply here or better yet, email me at [email protected]
    Thanks a lot in advance !

    Hi,
    The error "no suitable driver" occurs when something goes wrong with the connection URL.so make sure that u are using the correct URL format (check if any of the info is case sensitive etc) or atleast try other URL alternatives (for MS jdbc driver).
    try these changes only through deployment tool->tools->server configuration->datasources->standard.(instead of editing resource.properties directly).
    last not the least - make sure that there is NO "rem" keyword before "set J2EE_CLASSPATH" in the userconfig.bat file :)

  • Where to find the API documentation for MS SQL Server 2000 JDBC

    I Downloaded and installed the MS SQL Server 2000 JDBC package, but I found that it does not provide enough help docs such as API documentation, demo and etc.
    It would be most grateful if you would provide some information about this driver.

    Thank your for your kind attention.
    For example, I want to get a ConnectionPoolDataSource object to get a PooledConnection object, but I don't know which class implements the interface.

    I'd recommend that you not use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver to connect to SQL Server. M$ and jTDS are two free type IV JDBC drivers that you should use instead. Put those JARs in the WEB-INF/lib directory.
    The database URL you're using is not correct if you change drivers. Consult the docs to find out what the proper syntax is.

  • Storing and retrieving arabic in SQL Server 2000

    hello, i realize this problem has been posted lots before but i read in the forum and i couldn't find a solution to fix my problem
    i am developing a desktop application in java and sql server 2000, and i'm using JBuilder for writing my java codes
    here's the problem
    i can MANUALLY store arabic text in my database (directly in SQL Sever Query Analyzer) and can read it in arabic properly in SQL Server, but if i want to retrieve the arabic text in a query in JAVA, for example: select * from person i see weird characters (not question marks) but not the original arabic text
    and if i type arabic text in a java textfield and use the value entered in an sql query, for example:
    sqlQuery = "insert into person (fname) values ('" + jtfFName.getText() + "')";it is inserted in SQL Server as ?????s and when i retrieve the values from the table i also see it as ?????s
    even when i converted all the data types in the database to unicode data types (*nchar* instead of char and nvarchar instead of varchar) and modified the sql query to the following:
    sqlQuery = "insert into person (fname) values (N'" + jtfFName.getText() + "')";(N outside the single quotation mark since according to rules on msdn)
    it still didn't solve the problem
    please i need urgent help with this issue!

    problem was solved by setting the charSet encoding to "UTF-8" in the connection to sql server using the jdbc-odbc bridge

  • WL 6.0 using MS SQL Server 2000 - Transaction timeout when invoking stored procedure

    Hi,
    Facing a problem on WL6.0. We are connecting to MS SQL server 2000 using a stateless
    session bean
    using container managed transaction. The bean method does a few updates to the
    database and also
    calls a stored procedure that generates primary keys many times. This stored procedure
    (SP) is running
    in a transaction of its own since it has to increment a counter, update the database
    and then return the
    primary key.The primary key generator SP is working fine and does not lock the
    database in many bean
    methods.
    In some methods we find that the primary key generator SP has locked the database.
    We
    then see a lock on the database created due to this SP in the MS SQL client. The
    execution goes
    into the SP and gets stuck there till the bean's transaction times out. The error
    message given is
    ...... .. Exception Message - The transaction is no longer active
    (status = Rolling Back. [Reason = weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutExcepti

    What could be the potential problems in the method's code/SP that could be causing
    the timeout?
    Anyone faced similar problems?
    Thanks in advance,

  • SS2K_SYSLOGINS ORA-01401 using WB for SQL server 2000

    Hi there,
    I've read some threads on this issue on this forum but no solution to be found.
    I noticed that the NAME field on the table SS2K_SYSLOGINS has been declared as varchar2(30) and is reading the SYSLOGINS views column NAME ( as declared sysname 128 ) on SQL server 2000.
    This view (based on tabel sysxtypes) is not only containing SQL-logins but also domain users and domain groups ( like "domainxxx.com\SL-DAFEHV-DB-TorqueSupervisor-Admin"
    These domain name sometimes are far over 30 characters in length !!!
    I download the Migration Workbench ( 10.1.0.4.0 ) and some pluging today ( from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/migration/workbench/index.html )and I'm running WB 10 and Ora 9.2 both on the same server.
    How to solve this problem.
    Please help me out.
    Guus

    Guus,
    [It was a new bug, I searched the bug database but could not find something relevant]
    We will migrate what we can automate, so if there is more we can automate in future send in the details. Can you send in the database as a testcase?
    I had to alter the SS2K_SYSINDEXES as well and had to set the columns FIRST, ROOT, and FIRTSIAM to allow 'null' !!!That is not logged either, which surprises me.
    There was an assessment tool to give you an idea of the complexity of the migration that was used internally.
    >
    Further more I encoutered some warning ( i will not list them all )
    A) Within SQL server there are other pre-reserved words as within Oracle.I am not clear what you mean, is the parser failing on not handled reserved words like for example XML features?
    B) It cannot handle hops to other databases within/on the same server ( almost the same as using other schema's within Oracle )Consolidation is one of the proposed features of the next release.
    C) It cannot deal with the different authentication setup within SQL server 2000 ( databaselink.database.owner.objectname )Will note for future reference.
    C2 ) Is it possible to capture related objects from different databases ( ora schema's ) when encoutering them during capture ( the master database has been queried during the capturing as well. . . ) ?You just choose which databases you want to capture the workbench does not work out what parts of database b are called by database a. It was hoped there would be better tools for reorganising schemas when you got to oracle i.e. it was hoped it was out of our scope.
    D) It cannot handle;
    temptablesTemptables in stored procedures are mapped to oracle temporary tables, whos structure is permanent but the data can be temporary: for example tied to the session. Unhandled temptables in particular situations are a bug.
    system procedures like sp_executesql / xp_cmdshell / xp_smtp_send_mail / sp_oacreateWhile the functionality exists in oracle emulating xp_ and sp_ functions has not been done.
    function such as NEWID()
    user difined functionsI will note this for further reference.
    calls to the filesystem ( checking / writing to / reading from / deleting files )While the functionality exists in oracle emulating these functions has not been done.
    commandline call ( using xp_cmdshell )
    owner prefixes ( schema call as used by Oracle )I think this is done, if it is not done in some places it is a bug.
    N' parameter prefixes
    and so on , and so on
    Think I better skip trying "Migration Workbench" and look for an other way to handle a migration from SQL server 2000 to Oracle 92.We did provide a service to do this for a fee I am not sure if it is still going. Other tools did not seem substancially better than the workbench.
    >
    My next chalange is to migrate from Informix 7x to Oarcle 9.2 ( Hmmmmm )The workbench also does this, but it is not a single click automatic operation.
    Please tell me [at turloch.otierney at oracle.com] if you find other products that are better. What they do better, oracle can do better next time.
    It is probably not a good idea to post this information publically on this Oracle forum.
    I apologise that your expectations were not met at this time.

    Dwaipayan Das

    Hi Dwaipayan,
    SQL Server migrations are not supported by the (old)OMWB anymore.
    This functionality has been moved into the SQL Developer Migration Workbench.
    SQL Server migrations are a built in feature of SQL Developer, which you can download for free here.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/index.html
    Before downloading you can take a look at this viewlet demonstrating the migration of SQL Server Northwind database.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/viewlets/sqlserver.html
    All the new migration features are based around SQL Developer.
    Heres are new page
