Urgent: graphic filter error
One of our FM installs suddenly, out-of-the-blue can't display referenced or imported graphics. The graphics displayed correctly until a few days ago. We have not changed anything on the machine or in the FM files. The graphics display correctly on other computers. The graphics are all jpgs.
The problem computer: Vista SP2 with FM8p277
The error: "The filter encountered an error and could not complete the translation"
I tried reinstalling FM. This did not fix the problem.
Help! Our daily build is down until I can figure out what's going on.
Thank you!

Hi Sheila,
Thank you so much for responding! The machine worked fine on Friday, and started having problems on Monday. IT did not deploy anything to the computer over the weekend. Absolutely nothing changed on the machine or in the FM files between Friday and Monday.
The machine does not have MS Office installed.
The error occurs on every page of every document. All graphics display as gray boxes, and if I try to import a graphic to any location in any document, I get the error message.
This definitely feels like an FM install corruption, but reinstalling FM did not fix the problem. Perhaps the uninstall did not clean out all registry files? (When I reinstalled FM, it did not prompt me for a serial number.)
Thank you!
Karen

Oil Paint Filter "unknown graphics processor error"
When I try to use the Oil Paint filter in Photoshop, I get this error message:
"The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software."
I have updated both my system and Photoshop. When I'm at work on a newer machine the filter works great, but I've been working from home on a macbook from 2007 and it doesn't work. I can't afford to buy an ENTIRELY NEW laptop simply to use this filter.
Below are my mac and graphic card specs - is there anything I can do?

When you go to Preferences > Performance and look at the GPU settings, what is the mode? Basic, Normal, or Advanced?
Perhaps you can try ratcheting down the settings, but I somehow sense your video card is not supported and your vram is below the 256MB minimum.

I notice a couple things from your system info. You don't have the latest updates; Here's more info on what fixes are provided:
http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2013/11/photoshop-cs6-13-0-5mac-13-0-1-2win-perpetu al-license-updates-now-available.html
Second, and more directed at the error message you're seeing, you have 2 video cards which both have older drivers. Since this is a laptop, you may be stuck with having to rely on Asus to publish any updates. Go to Asus first and see if they have updates that are newer. You might also want to check both Intel and nVidia to see if they have drivers that are compatible. Your looking for driver for the Intel HD integrated GPU and the Nvidia GeForce 310M discrete GPU.

Got the following error: "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.". What can I do about this?
If you have a Windows desktop system, you can check the web site of the manufacturer of your video card for updated display drivers.
If it's an ATI video card, look for the Catalyst version 12.8 release, specifically, or the new 13.3 beta 3 pre-release. All other recent versions don't work right with Photoshop.

VERY STRANGE Interactive Report Filter Error
I have a very interesting problem happening with an interactive report in my APEX application. The report runs just fine and has been in use for about 6 months. Just recently, the users have begun to run into problems when using the filter capability within the report. There is a specific column heading (RH Analyst) that they typically click on and select a specific analyst name (the list contains 10 entries). Most selections from the filter list work fine. However, when one specific name is chosen, they get the dreaded ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small+* error.
I have been working to narrow the problem down and have found the following:
1. The filter error is related to the content of one specific column (not the one I am filtering on)
2. The column that is causing the error is a CLOB datatype
3. The data in the CLOB column was inserted into the database from a form utilizing an "HTML Editor Standard" type of item

Any help would be greatly appreciated. For now, my short term solution for them is to copy the information from Outlook 2007, paste it into a Wordpad, then copy it from wordpad and paste it into the HTML editor control. That seems to work fine but it is not a very nice solution for the users!
Thanks,
DaleRoel,
Hey there! Hope you enjoyed your time off ;) Thanks for having a look...
Yes, of course I "could" update the functions, but this is NOT something I want to do. I'm one of those people that subscribes to Coding by Contract and the assertion routines at the beginning and end of my subprograms are an important part of that.
This may be a lack of understanding on my part with regards to the order in which Oracle does it's thing - or a bug in Apex... I'm able to duplicate the problem on apex.oracle.com: dmcghan/test/test.
Log into the demo app with admin/dmcghan. The home page has an interactive report, filter the name and you should get the error. When you look at the query you'll see a filter in the where clause that goes against the apex_collections table. This is populated from the post-authentication procedure. Let me know if you have questions.

Dan

System crashes after waking; problems with distnoted, graphics chip error
I am running 10.3.9 on a Dual 1 GHz G4, with 1.5 GB SDRAM, a GeForce4 Ti 4600 LCD display, and a LaCie 1394 external drive. I have recently started to put my computer to sleep at night, rather than leaving it running 24 hours a day (I also installed sleepwatcher, to allow me to put my computer to sleep remotely, and anacron, to allow the nightly system maintenance jobs to continue to run). This was working fine for about a week, but for the last two days, when I woke my computer up in the morning, I got kernel panics after a few minutes. First some aspects of the display would start to get mangled (e.g. strange lines appearing, some text that I typed not showing up, icons in the dock looking speckled, etc.), then some applications would stop responding, and then a minute or so later I would get the feared kernel panic message ("You need to restart your computer" in multiple languages).
This problem only seems to occur after the computer has been asleep for a long time (I've only experienced it after it's been asleep for 12 hours or so, and not when it's only been asleep for a few minutes). The only thing I can think of that I've changed in the last few days is an AppleScript that mounts my external LaCie drive (using "do shell script diskutil mountDisk ...") before backing up my files - using FoldersSynchronizer - then putting my computer to sleep (before I was never UNmounting this drive, so I didn't have to mount it in the AppleScript - I was still using the script to back up the files then put the computer to sleep).
I have tried running Apple's Disk Utility (both to repair the permissions, and to repair the disk), DiskWarrior (to rebuild my startup disk), fsck, and TechTool Deluxe. None seemed to reveal any major errors except the "Surface Scan" in TechTool, which failed, presumably because of media defects in the disk (but my understanding is that fixing this would require reformatting my disk, something that I only want to do as a last resort).
My system.log shows the following, from the time I woke my computer to the time I restarted (I've highlighted some suspicious-looking lines). It seems like the problem might either be occurring in distnoted, or with the graphics chip. Any thoughts on how I can determine the cause of the problem?

Yesterday's crash looks similar, except that the Graphics chip error occurs 13 seconds before the distnoted error (rather than after the distnoted error), and rather than a crash of "MouseWorks Background" there was a crash of "WindowServer". A log file from a few days ago, when I woke my computer up without a crash, has one line that is now absent: Mar 23 08:48:43 nitrogen kernel: AFPSleepWakeHandler: waking up.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem? I will continue to test the effects of changing various aspects of my configuration, but since I can only get the problem to occur once a day (after my computer has been asleep for a while), it might take me a few days or weeks to track the problem down through blind trial-and-error.
Thanks!
Dual 1 GHz G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9) 1.5 GB SDRAM, GeForce4 Ti 4600 LCD display, LaCie 1394 external driveAfter a little experimentation, I've managed to narrow the problem down a little, but still haven't resolved it. My computer still crashes almost every time I wake it up after a long sleep (multiple hours). Things work fine for a few minutes, but then some aspects of the display start to get mangled (e.g. strange lines appearing, text becoming distorted, etc.), then some applications start crashing and the system hangs. Sometimes I get a kernel panic, but not always - but I always need to reboot to solve the problem.
The errors in the system log files differ from crash to crash, but the one thing that seems to be consistent is that I get a "Graphics chip error". Is this usually a hardware problem, or can it be due to a software problem? Sometimes this graphics chip error is the first error to occur, although sometimes an application will crash a few seconds before the graphics chip error is recorded in the system.log.
In my original post, I suggested that the problem might be due to an AppleScript that mounts an external drive. I have since determined that this is NOT the cause of the problem.
Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Windows 7 graphics card errors with games - how do I get/update drivers??
Just recently installed windows 7 with bootcamp and having some issues with games and screen savers. Most of the screen savers that come with 7 say I need a video card compatible with Direct3D. Secondly, 2 games that I want to play (minecraft and terraria) both give me graphics card errors. Minecraft works fine on the OS X side but says I should update my graphics card drivers. Terraria says the graphics card does not support Direct3D. How/where do I get these drivers or how/where do I update them? The graphics card I have is NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, running on a MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2009 model.
And you tried the Nvidia drivers, no.

Epson printer and driver, all jobs "stopped due to filter errors"
My printer broke, so I'm trying to use my roommate's Epson WorkForce 520 with my Arch64 system. I grabbed the 64-bit driver rpm from Epson, extracted and copied everything to /opt (no readme for a manual installation, but the paths in the PPD point to having the files installed there). The driver came with some libraries, so I added their path to ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig. Successfully added the printer in CUPS, but trying to print anything gives me "/opt/..../epson_inkjet_printer_filter failed". I checked the permissions on the filter, they're 755 and it's executable. The CUPS error log shows "Job stopped due to filter errors; please consult the error_log file for details" followed by debug spew which doesn't clarify the issue for me, attached below.
I searched on the problem, found some people blaming it on issues with the update to CUPS 1.4 which have since been addressed, and others who were told to switch to using opensource drivers. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an option for me; Gutenprint and foomatic have drivers for the 500 but they don't support the 520; the only driver I can find that does is the one from Epson.
Anyway, I'm really hoping this is an issue with my CUPS/printer config, or that I missed some critical step in manually installing the printer drivers, and not that Epson's driver is just broken. If anyone has any ideas I'd be much obliged, let me know if you need more information.
Here's the complete error log from when I try to print. Sorry if it's obnoxiously long, I'm not sure which parts are relevant:

You could recompile the filter with --enable-debug. It will create the file "/tmp/epson-inkjet-printer-filter.txt" if you call the filter...
I installed the driver from epson-inkjet-printer-workforce-635-nx625-series-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.src.rpm and compiled the filter by myself. But I get an error if the filter will load the closed source core library of epson.

It was no missing library. It is a really strange problem here. If I build it with my PKGBUILD it will give the error above.
If you go into the $srcdir, compile and overwrite it manually it will work properly.

Edited 2:
Ok, I found the problem. Arch's makepkg will add an "--as-needed" to LDFLAGS and the binary won't be linked to libstdc++.so.6 and libgcc_s.so because the binary does not need it but the core library of epson. I overwrite that with "--as-no-needed" and now it works. Added the package: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=42294

Unknown Graphics Processor Error
When I try to use the Oil Paint Tool, I get the above error. There is a strange history here. Several months ago when I had this problem, I read and followed the advice given in an earlier forum, and downloaded the ATI driver Tool and updated my drivers. I was then able to use the Oil Paint Tool for quite some time. Then I had to have the hard drive replaced. After downloading CS6 again, I had the same issue. So I went through the same process with the ATI driver tool, but this time it doesn't work. I have a Dell 1569 with Intel HD Graphics card which is supposedly up to date. Can you think of anything else that I might do? thanks, Jane
I downloaded the driver tool off the ATI site. It diagnosed which Intel drivers needed updating. I don't have an ATI card. I have an Intel (R) HD graphics card.
There are two lines (from the scan) which don't seem to download: Intel (R)5 series/3400 series Series Chipset family PCI express root port1-3B42 and Intel (R)5 series/3400 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller-3B30. I don't know what those two mean if anything. I'm not a techie, so don't understand if I need them. Besides they don't seem to download, anyway. Hope I'm not screwing things up worse than they already were.

Kernel Panic -- Graphics chip error! Restarted.
Anyone out there seen ridiculous gfx card/kernel errors with Adobe CS2? My machine runs weird every time that I use Photoshop or Illustrator. Batches don't finish, and I have even been getting kernel panics lately. I would post it to Adobe, but kernel panics and hardware errors fall into Apple's domain. Hardware/Software/OS is fine for all but CS2, including opengl/coreimage/corevideo apps. I have a quad g5 with an nvidia 6800 GT gfx card with dual cinema displays and a wacom tablet. OSX is up-to-date, as is CS2.
Here's a snippet from my rather scary system log for yesterday, when I was attempting to run a batch process in illustrator...my logs are peppered with graphics chip errors every time that I use CS2. Any options other than wait for a new gfx driver from Apple or keep re-running the hardware tests?

İf a managed server is started using startManagedServer.cmd ile it set class path corrctly.
But if it is started rom web logic web console. The is an error for setting classpaths.
We tried this for windows and linux install. The same error happen.
it solved deployment problems also.
We wonder when Oracle middleware is cleaned from this kind of annoying, unmeaninfull .. bugs?
We had lost 4 (very valuable) day to solve this problem .
We want a program works when installed. configuration can give additional value. -
I have been sent an application form in Word but when I open it I have a little window called Graphics Filter that flashes up and then disapears. My word document is totally empty apart from 1 text box.
Help says: • Make sure that you have turned on the display of graphics. On the Word menu, choose Preferences, and then click View. Clear the Image placeholders check box.
• Make sure that you have installed the necessary graphics filter. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, click From File, and then *check the list of filters on the Show or Enable pop-up menu.* +How do I know what filter I need derrrrr+
I have checked both of these but still no joy. The word doc does open on a windows computer as Ive checked, but that's no good for me as i'm not on windows.
Please teccy people, how do I open my application form on my Mac????Bumping this up to see if i can get a reply

Hi, I am using cs3 on a mac. Suddenly the vanishing point filter is not working. I get an error message when I try to select the vanishing point filter that the operation could not be completed. I tried the vanishing point filter on two different PSD files and both times I got the same error message so the error is not specific to any one file.(The filter had previously worked on these two files before the problem started.) I then reset photoshops preferences by holding down the option, command and shift keys when launching photoshop, but am still getting the same error message when I try to open the filter on the same two files.
I then opened a file that I had used the vanishing filter on in cs2. When I chose the vanishing point filter, the filter opened after a message that "saved planes have been updated to the current version of photoshop. Converted planes cannot be opened with previous versions once they have been saved." I clicked ok and was able to make changes to the image that had originally been created in cs2 with the vanishing point filter.
What is causing this problem and what can I do? Thanks. As I posted before, I would use it more if it had some of the functionality I need. I need to be able to change the opacity of the image I'm pasting so I can see EXACTLY where my overlaid image will register with the bottom image. VP seems to require a ton of processing and I wonder if maybe the software is handing off some of this work to the graphics card for calculating. Maybe this would explain that apparently not many people have run into an error that gets embedded in the file. Although my G5 is Apple stock, not super-modified.

Graphic problems/errors with Mainstage 3 and MBP (15'' 2011)
Hi,
I bought Mainstage 3 for my MBP (15'' 2011).
When i click con "perform" i get graphic errors.
I have the same issue with the old Mainstage version since Mountain Lion.
Also a fresh installation didn't help.
I think i'm not the only one with this issue!
I don't know how to report a bug?
Perhaps someone can help me.
(and I'm probably not the only one (see feedback in Apple Store) If you also have this problem, please add a comment with your configuration (Hardware, Software))

So, here an example how it looks like when i click on "perform":Same configuration, same problem. BUT I found a workaround.
Mainstage has this error with the AMD video card and/or a second monitor connected.
With a little app (http://gfx.io) it's possible to really force the MBPro to use the Intel Graphics card.
This will work only with the internal screen, not with a second screen connected.
And sometimes you need to restart, to really make the Intel video card free.
This works fine...In the meantime of a fix.

Firewire output of Hardware MPE - I give up
Ok... I'll forget about IEEE1394 output of hardware MPE. I suspect it isn't likely to be resolved in CS.anything. The technical challenge of routing a DV signal from the CPU/GPU back through a firewire channel may be an insurmountable hurdle. But it'

CS5 - EPS (vector) opening - How to change/save raster settings?
Hello to all. I'm working with CS5 now and I mentioned the follwowing terrible fact: When I open a vector EPS in CS5 raster settings are always CMYK and 72dpi. I know very well that CS2 remembers my first type in of settings (e.g. grayscale and 300dp
