URGENT HELP: Synchronization of Multiple Devices

To whom it may concern,
I am relatively new to labview so I am sorry if I use the wrong terminology.
Here is all of my equipment:
DAQ USBX-6341 board.
Cameras (plugged into digital p0.0 channel/port)
Force Sensor (plugged into analog channel/port 1)
Test Machine (plugged into COM5)
Currently,I am sending in a trigger to the camera to start taking photos. This trigger takes 2 miliseconds and then the labview program tells the forcesensor and testing machine to start. This creates a delay between the camera, force sensor and testing machine. THis makes it difficult to analyze data.
I want the testing machine, cameras, and force sensor to start taking pictures at the same time. I was told that the best way to do this would be to send in a square wave at my desired sampling rate (ex. 15,000) into the DAQ. This would synchronize everything so that it started capturing data at the same time once a trigger was sent in.
Is this the easiest way to accomplish that goal? Is there an easier way to do this?
Thanks
gcass

Hi gcass,
It sounds that what you're looking for is a deterministic system response. Determinism is the ability to say that at a certain point in your program, a certain function will happen within a certain amount of time, plus or minus some variation (Jitter). On an Operating System that isn't Real Time oriented, deterministic responses i.e. getting your 2ms long trigger to execute and then simultaneously begin the acquisition can't happen; this is because the OS gets in the way because of the way it schedules tasks.
For example, the same program can have two different timed responses for when you're running no programs in the background and when you're running an Internet browser. Even when the OS isn't running any background tasks you still cannot be absolutely certain that some other processor time is being used. Unfortunately, this is the limitation of a conventional OS; the processor's power is shared between multiple competing threads which have equal priorities. Furthermore, USB devices aren't deterministic either due to the serial protocols that they follow, which in their nature are indeterministic.
You can only really implement some coarse timing in a traditional OS, whilst remembering that the absolute maximum output rate an OS could achieve is 1kHz. This is where Real Time Operating Systems come into play; these allow threads to be scheduled in a way that the co-ordination of particular tasks can occur at precise periods in time. In order to achieve the response you're after you'd need to use an RTOS based implementation; this is offered on devices such as the Compact RIO or PXI. You can learn more about these products here.
However...
I may be a little unsure about your application, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you could synchronise your DAQ tasks by driving different DAQ tasks by the same sample clock; this will allow tasks to operate simultaneously as they're both triggered by the same driving clock. I've answered a forum question with a similar implementation of driving two tasks with a single clock; the same can be done for a third task (You're trigger on the first edge).
So, the difference between these two points depends on just how you want to acquire your data; because there are limitations imposed in applications such as these with indeterministic systems. Your choice depends on how quickly you need to analyse your data; however if you only want to synchronise the output trigger and the clocking then I suggest the former solution.
I hope this helps!

    Thank you for your replies.

I do this currently. If you look at my profile, you'll see my equipment. I also have a PC at work I use part time (for accounting only) set up as well.
On the iPad and iPhone, set up your iCloud by going to Settings -> iCloud and entering your username and password. Choose to sync all.
Set up your Hosted Exchange by going to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account... Choose Exchange as the option and enter the info.
For iCloud on the Mac, click the Apple icon -> System Preferences -> iCloud. Then sign in.
For Exchange on the Mac, click the Apple icon -> System Preferences -> Mail, Contacts, & Calendars -> Microsoft Exchange and enter the info.
For iCloud on the PC, you must be running Outlook 2007 or 2010 and have downloaded the iCloud Control Panel. Sign in and choose to sync with Outlook.
For Exchange on the PC, use Outlook. Add the account...

  • Help syncing with multiple devices

This is my personal Blackberry but it is tied to the enterprise server at work.  I also want to sync with my personal laptop so I have all my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes sync'd to keep me straight.  Everytime I try to sync to my personal laptop, it says it can't sync because it's set to sync wirelessly.  I turn the bluetooth on and try to do it that way and can't do it.  I can't seem to find any way to get them all sync'd.

Plug your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad into iTunes via the USB dock cable.
Find it listed under Devices in the left sidebar and click on it.
Go through the tabs on the top of the iTunes window and select the music, movies, apps, podcasts, etc. you want to sync.
Your selection can include none, all/automatic, or just the exact content you wish.
    Sync!
    Repeat with all yourdevices.
    Or you can do this:
Option+Click on the iTunes icon and choose Create Library and go from there.
Switching library is just an Option+Click away, this means you can choose 2 diff libraries.

  • Please help with synching multiple devices through Cloud.

Need to synch my iphone ipad macbook with partner's iphone and ipad to synch calendar docs music photos but not mail unless we have separate mailboxes. Also can iWork share compatible files with pc users through Dropbox?

iCloud is designed so that one user uses one account, not multiple users.  If you want separate mail accounts, then each of you needs to have a separate icloud account.
For calendars, you can defined shared calendars so the two of you can access the same shared calendars.
For music, no - you sync with itunes.
For photos you can use shared photo streams.
Dropbox is a good idea for sharing other types of files.

  • HT1206 Help on multiple devices within a family and 1 itunes account for music

Help I have multiple devices, Iphone, Ipod, Itouch, Ipad, Nano. Some used by our kids and some used by use. How do I set the accounts so my contacts on my ipad dont go to my sons Iphone? We use one Itune music account for the family music but my ipad has a seperate account for downloads.

I had this problem last night as well.  Only my daughter upgraded to iOS7 and she had an old phone of mine.  When she upgraded, the phone asked for my apple ID and then continued as normal.  However, after the upgrade, any text message that I recieved, she also recieved.  I am pretty sure my wife thought I was hammered when she started texting me and my daughter began answering her not having any clue what she was texting about.  Anyway, this only occurred with texts from other family members, not from texts I received from friends who are obviously not on our account (we have Verizon BTW).  To resolve this issue, and it isn't a short resolution.... there are two options...   One, simply erase everyting on the phone.... I don't like iTunes 11, so we were unable to back up her phone.  I made her go through her 600 photos, delete the ones she didn't want and email the ones she wanted to herself, and then we wiped the phone clean and rebooted it... go into Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings.  The second option, if you have iTunes 11 is to back up the phones one at a time,  and then go into Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings.  Either of these options wipes the phone clean of all information, text contacts pictures etc and then you have to re-enter all of your individual information.  When you do that, make sure that no one is on the same iTunes account.  Theoretically, after you do this, you plug back into your computer and SYNC your phone from the last back-up.  This resolved the problem for us.  I don't know if there is an easier solution, be we tried logging in and out of our iTunes Accounts, turning the power on and off, and nothing changed.  So, we had to go the more difficult route to avoid mass confusion with family texting.

  • Please help, apps continue to reappear when I sync multiple devices after I permantaly deleted from itunes

PLease help: apps continue to reappear after I permantaly delete them when I sync multiple devices.. How do I fix this?
    I have tried everything..

The only way to permanently remove an app is to delete the app from iTunes on your computer and delete the app from every device that has the app. If you don't, then when the devices are synced to the computer it will be transfered back to the iTunes library on the computer from the device.

  • One computer, one iTunes account, multiple devices and iCloud accounts, help!

We have a family MacBook and have always held a single iTunes account. We have multiple devices (iTunes Match has proved to be very useful). We have 2 x iCloud accounts. This causes an issue in terms of synchronisation. Is it possible to synch calendars and photos? As mentioned, the music is no longer an issue with iTunes match. Is there a way that we can synch calendars and photos without having to use a single iCloud account? In addition, the only reason we have separate iCloud accounts is for email. Can I keep my mobile.me email without an iCloud account?

I personally would recommend to use different iCloud account for your own stuff like email, calendars, reminders etc. If you want to have a calendar for your family then just share it via your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Yes, you could keep you me,com email address but it should be migrated to icloud because MobileMe was shut down.

  • One itunes account multiple devices in family - help

I have one itunes account but multiple devices used by the family and I am having conflicts with sharing and face time, imessage etc.
    Listed devices
Me - iphone 5, Ipad mini, Apple Tv, Macbook Pro 13" (just purchased)
    Wife - iphone 5, ipad
Daughter - iphone 4, ipad mini
    Son - iphone 4
    Son - ipad
At the moment we all use one itunes account (mine) we all have our own email adresses etc.
I have itunes U which can be accessed.
The problem is everyone wants to use face time and imessage etc but I keep having conflicts with the devices sharing eachothers messages etc. Plus not eveyone wants to share photos etc so how do you manage that across mulitple devices.
Is it a set up issue or is it easier for everyone to have their own accounts.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You could simply ensure that only the numbers and addresses you wish to use on each device are checked at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. However this isn’t an ideal solution because the other person can always change these settings from their device and have some fun with you and your contacts.
You’d be far better getting them to delete your account from their device and have them create one of their own. If you are sharing an ID for some other service such as iTunes, you can continue to do so, you only need change the ID for messages.

  • Help in custom syncing multiple devices

How can I custom sync multiple devices - iPod touch, iPad, iPhone - with laptop?  I don't want all the same material on each device and in the past have either deleted items I wanted on a device when I synced or put all library stuff - music, tv, books - on all devices...neither is what I want.  Can you offer advice?

When you connect one of them to your computer, select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes under 'Devices', and you can then use the tabs on the right-hand side of iTunes to select which of your content to sync to the device i.e. which apps, music, tv shows, films etc. You can then repeat that for your other devices and iTunes should remember your selections for each device, so the next time you connect that device to it those selections should be populated on those tabs - I sync my iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch to the same computer's iTunes and I have different content on each.

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED!!! iOS8 behaviour!

We have 2 iPhones (6 & 5s) and an iPad using the same Apple ID. Both are running iOS8.
When someone calls either of the iPhones BOTH iPHONES RING!!!!
Yes, you read right, the same incoming call appears on BOTH iPhones at the same time.
This is obviously totally unacceptable not to mention useless.
Obviously both iPhones use the same account so that iCal & Contacts can be shared but sharing phone calls?
Really, I need some urgent help with this bug!!!!

    Hi RexRox,
Based on your description, it sounds like you may have Continuity enabled, a feature in iOS 8 that allows you to take calls across more than one device (generally aimed at a single person with multiple devices on the same account). You may find the following article helpful, especially the following portion:
    Turn off iPhone cellular calls
To turn off iPhone Cellular Calls on a device, go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity

  • Sync send folders and templates between multiples devices

    hello there,
I have to send many emails and use a lot of templates as I am a sole trader and I contact ppl to find work. I need a solution to keep sent folders of emails, all contacts and also template folders on multiple devices in sync. I am using 2 pc's and one Ipad currently.
I would further like to sync with a macbook I am going to but soon. Unforutnately I dont know of any email client able to do that yet.
Is Thunderbird able to do that? Or is a feature like that currently in developement? I might have to try outlook for this. But honestly I dont like Microsoft. I would much prefer to use Thunderbird. I would even be willing to pay money for this feature. I am so desperate for an email programm to be able to synchronize a complete account with all templates I made etc on multiple devices.
I would greatly appreciate if you could take out the time to help me

This is an email protocol thing and not an email client thing.
IMAP syncs different folders across multiple devices. POP only connects to the Inbox of the email server.

  • I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.

I have one apple ID for multiple devices in my family.  I'd like to keep it that way for itunes/app purchases.  I would like a simple step 1, step 2, step 3 response on what I need to do to separate all other features like imessage, contacts, emails, etc.
I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.
In answer to what iCloud does for you: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

  • Multiple devices, one email - how can I see from iPad if I've replied from iPhone.

Hi, I use both my iPhone and iPad to access my email. When I reply to a message on a device, I get an icon on the email on that device showing that I've replied. However, when I access the same email account from the other device, I don't see a replied icon. Any way I can get the replies synching so that I van see if I've replied across multiple devices?
(Particularly useful since my wife and I share one of the emails we access so useful to see if the other one of us has replied)
    Thanks

  • HT201084 My family shares one Apple ID on multiple devices.  How do I switch everyone over to their own Apple ID without having to erase their iphones and ipads?

My family currently shares one Apple ID on multiple devices and has for quite awhile.  How do I switch everyone over to their own Apple ID and the Family Sharing without having to erase their iphones and ipads?

Thank you again for your time, GB.
I set up individual Apple ID's for my children so that they could have their own Apple ID on their individual iPad minis (gifts from grandparents last year).  When I go to iCloud under Settings, I see my Apple ID listed at the top, then my children's listed under Family Sharing.  So the device is still using my Apple ID for iCloud, iTunes, etc., correct?
To "assign" their own Apple ID to their own iPad mini, I would need to "Sign Out" from my Apple ID.  When I attempt to do so, I receive a warning that all of the Documents and Data will be lost/deleted.
So, instead of doing this, I figured out that I could do what you suggested.  Signing in using a child's Apple ID will allow her/him to use Game Center, FaceTime, and Messages just fine.  However, using their Apple ID for iTunes & App Store proved to be a problem:  Purchased Music and Movies appeared in iTunes, but my Purchased Apps did not appear.  Some Apps even disappeared, e.g. Proloquo4Text (a $99 app to help my son speak with his iPad).
So I reverted to using my Apple ID for iTunes & App Store, and I get everything that I want, EXCEPT for the iCloud storage for each Apple ID.
So that's when I started wondering how Family Sharing was really benefiting me ~ It was a lot of work (deleting apps to allow space to download iOS 8, etc) without any benefit that I can see.  UNLESS I find a means to allow me to sign in each iPad's iCloud account with a different AppleID, then perhaps restore the Documents and Data from a backup?  Would that work?
    Thanks.
