Urgent - problem with multiple users on same page

Hi all,
I have got an big problem with my app:
when several users are using the same page, the action launched by USER_A affects the page displayed and used for USER_B.
If there is only one user using the page, there is no problem at all.
The webapp is deployed on Tomcat or JBoss and the problem remains the same on both.

PS: I am not accurate because I don't know what to paste here.

In fact, all my page beans are in REQUEST scope...
The only bean in Application scope is the standard applicationBean created by Creator itself.
We use one Bean in session scope which contains another class.
I will try to explain our common process:
- when logging into the app, the session Bean stores user data (rights for using app,...);
- when navigating in the app, the user can search data, modify them and create one (if he has the right to do it);
- to define the screen, we use a lot the beforeRenderResponse();
- when viewing a data, the user can choose to modify it, so depending on the action, the page is in "CONSULT" mode or "MODIFY" mode. In the second one, he can display new gridPanel (as a subform) to populate datatable.
The problem is obvious while using this grid: my grid can disappear if someone else has validated his form before me and if my page goes trough the beforeRender of my page.
It is not really clear. If needed, i can give access to our application to show the problem (and msn adress too to talk about it).

Ethernet Problem with Multiple users on same Mac

Hi, sorry i advance for my english. I am writing from italy.
I have an imAc with 2 users profiles on it. one profile is administratoe, and the oter a standard user.
I also have a time capsule configured to connect to my network with the ethernet cable. the cable is plugged in the wan pot, the configuration is "bridged" and i use as a router a linksys wifi router.
well. suppsung that i am logging in with one of my users and access to time capsule wirelessly, it shows me the disk content.
i then swith to the other user without logging off the first one and then access time capsule where i see the same folfder and i can access it. so everything works fine.
in the case i connect my mac with ethernet (disabling airort) to my linksys router, ifuser 1mounts time capsule, user 2 can't access it if user 1 does not unmount.
why so?
i need to switch from user 1 to user 2 without logging off, and i don't understand why it works wirless and not with ethernet..

yes, BUT... you need a central repository for the master calendars, usually referred to a Calendar Server. If you are not using a Mac OS X Server on your private network, I think you can use web-based servers that use standard calendar protocol.

Sharing Library with Multiple Users on SAME COMPUTER

My wife and I use Windows XP Pro. We imported all of our CDs to the iTunes on her user account. How do I access or import the library to the iTunes on my account? I want to avoid logging into her account to listen to the music.
The help index has info on sharing music for multiple computers on a network but I didn't see an answer for sharing music between multiple user accounts in XP on one computer. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Home sharing to Apple TV with multiple users on same computer

I have two different users on the same computer. To facilitate sharing their music and movies to eachother, they are each using Home Sharing with the same Apple ID. As long as both users remain logged in, this works with no problem. Except for Apple TV. The Apple TV can see each library, so they both show up in the list under Computers, but only one is accessible. It's either the first one that broadcast itself, or the first one that Apple TV connected to, I'm not sure which. But, once that's established, the second library will remain in the Computers list, but any attempt to connect to the library will fail. It appears there is a limitation that Apple TV can only connect to a single library per physical computer, even though it can tell there are multiple libraries there.
Does anyone have any idea how to work around this without consolidating the libraries? Being able to connect to multiple libraries is the goal, not consoludating them.

I don't have that set up anymore, but used to. I had no problems sharing from either library. Of course it may have changed since I used it, but wouldn't see why.

CS2 Problems with multiple user accounts on 1 machine

I have been having this problem since I first installed CS2 in my Mac lab. I have 8 G5's and I have loaded the exact same software (all licensed of course) on all 8 machines, in the same order. The problem occurs when trying to use CS2 in a second user account on the machines.
All software works fine for the original admin account. Then when I try to open and use in a second account I get crashes and errors, nothing consistent. AND some computers work just fine. HUH? I have called Apple and they suggested repairing permissions, that doesn't work.
I have tried uninstall and reinstall. I have tried making the second user an admin user. I have tried 2nd and 3rd users. I have tried a total system reinstall. I have tried changing the order in which I install. I have tried installing both before and after creation of the second account.
It doesn't seem to matter. On some machines it works, on others it doesn't. The only account the software will work in is the original user account.
The reason this matters is it is a student lab. I have implemented a server and students can't use the software through their server accounts either. Currently the server is a 40lb paperweight until this problem is fixed.
Any clue?

This has to do with permissions in the non admin accounts. A solution was posted a while back you could do a search or somebody will pop in with the solution soon.

How to share Itunes library with multiple users on same laptop

I have a macbook pro and am the administrator. I have a profile for my daughter as well. How can I share my itunes library with her without manually loading all the songs on her profile which would take up more memory. Move the iTunes library to a location accessible by all accounts on the computer, such as /Users/Shared/ on a Mac, which can be done from the Advanced section of the iTunes preferences. Next, open her copy of iTunes, turn off the option to automatically copy songs to the iTunes Music folder from the same section of the preferences, and drag the folder into the open iTunes window.

Sharing Itunes Library with multiple users on same computer

Several people in my house share the same laptop and we all have our own user id. I am the administrator. How do I set up itunes so that all of the music, the entire library, is accessible to all user id's when each person is logged in? I thought I had it figured out but whenever I download new music the others don't see it, only what was already there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Give this ago, This is what I am trying at the moment and is a bit experimental, I haven't Tested it yet with iPhone/iPad/iPods sync yet. (will do this soon and will report back)
1. BACK UP!!! (just in case) Copy your itunes folder normally found under (user - "username" - Music folder) to a usb drive or just copy it into the music folder. (in fact do a full system back up I'm guessing you haven't done it in a while)
2. Create the new user account if not already done so. (I am setting up my other users as a new users with no existing iTunes content.)
3. Move the itunes folder under (user - "username" - Music folder) into (user - shared)
4. Change the read/write access to the (user - shared - iTunes folder) Right click on the folder - +Get Info+ - Under Permissions allow all the users Read & Write, Click the cog and select apply to enclosed items.
5. Make an alias of the "iTunes folder" and move it back to your original itunes folder location +(user - "username" - Music folder)+
6. Remove alias from the name.
7. Start itunes check to make sure every thing is ok, play a few tracks.
Under iTunes preferences - Advance
make sure the itunes media folder location is (user - "shared" - iTunes - iTunes Media)
I also have Keep iTune media folder organized checked
& Copy files to iTunes Media folder checked. (When music, vids, or update Apps for my iPhone/iPod, it should now show up in the other user's account)
8. Close out of itunes User done.
9. Log into user 2's and go to (user - shared) folder Check to make sure this user has read & write permissions. Make an alias of the "iTunes folder" and move it to user 2's music folder +(user - "username" - Music folder)+
10. Start itunes check to make sure every thing is ok, play a few tracks.
Under iTunes preferences - Advance
make sure the itunes media folder location is (user - "shared" - iTunes - iTunes Media)
Make sure Keep iTune media folder organized & Copy files to iTunes Media folder are checked.
Log this user into the iTunes store if need (it shouldn't effect the the other users)
11. YOUR DONE, Unless you have more users, then just repeat steps 8, 9 ,10 (and 11 if needed)
Just note that only 1 user can access the Shared iTunes account at a time so close iTunes if you not using it.
Each user should be running off the same iTunes library now. Once you are happy with the set up and nothing has happened to your music then delete the back ups in step 1.

AND I cant see why this shouldn't work for iPhoto.

Problem with multiple users sharing a single library

We have a family iMac. I am the only one with Admin privileges. I want to share my iTunes music folder with the other users so we don't end up replicating all the MP3 files. I put the music folder in my Public directory and the other users can see it fine. However, when my daughter bought a song from the iTunes store, we got a "insufficient privileges" error message. I checked and confirmed that she has Read/Write access to my public folder, and to the iTunes Music folder under it - I even tried "Applying to All Enclosed Items". It appears that despite this, she is blcoked from creating a new file or directory in my Public folder. When I changed the setting on her iTunes to point to a directory in her User space, the iTunes purchase went through fine. But now her library is split between what's in my Public folder and what's in her Music/iTunes folder.
Is there a way to fix this so we can continue to use a single shared location for all MPS files? Someone suggested that I use my Shared folder instead; I don't know if that's a better or worse option.

Sharing iTunes/iPhoto with multiple users on same iMac

Sorry if this has been asked and answered (if so, could you refer me to the post).
I am trying to set my machine up so that my wife and I have different user accounts but shared access to the same iTunes and iPhoto content. I managed to do this by placing the iPhoto library and the iTunes library in the shared folder and by applying admin read and write permissions to both folders.
The problem is that when I add new photos or music to iTunes or iPhoto whilst logged into my account, when my wife (also an admin on the mac) logs in she doesn't have automatic access to the new content unless I (or she) tediously go through each individual file giving her read and write access so that she can access them in her own account. The converse is also true for her adding new media and me not having access to it.
Is there a way this can be overcome?
Hopefully this makes sense to someone.

Problem on multiple user of a page

Hi I am working on developing a JSP to generate a report in term of Excel sheet for my organization and the brief explanation to this tool and my problem is as follows.
I need to generate Excel sheet based on some inputs.
There are two table used by this tool , XYZ and ABC
Whenever a request is made for this JSP , all entries from table XYZ and ABC are deleted.
Inputs are supplied by an input form within this JSP which receives the input and inserts them into a table 'XYZ'.
Then I need to a execute a Stored Procedure which will get values form this XYZ table and do some calculation and execute query on another database and results are stored in the table 'ABC'.
I generate the Excel sheet fetching the values inserted in the second table 'ABC'.
Every thing runs well until there is only a single request for this JSP.
If one user sends a request and while this request is under processing (which takes around 2 min ) another user send another request for the same JSP. It deletes all the entries (generated by the first request )from the table ABC. That's y when the first request tries to generate the Excel sheet it founds no record from the ABC record or founds records inserted by the second request. That's y generates a faulty report.
So if any one of u have any idea how to overcome this problem it will help me a lot .

Sounds like this table ABC only used to hold the data temperarly until the excel file is produced.
In that case you can use a temperary table (if that is supported in the DBMS that you are using) configure the table to erace itself when you commit (Read the DBMS help file to see how it can be done). Then turn autocommit off in your database connections so the changes done in one session will not affect another until you commit.
Another way of doing this is adding another key column to the table ABC. That column will use a unique id for each request so the data entered in different requests will not be mixed up. You can do the cleanup of old records either after generating the excel file or you can leave that to a scheduled clean up process.
Or just lock the tables before start processing and unlock them after generating the file. This will cause the users request to block if there is another request in progress. If the process takes a long time (several mins) this will not be a good idea because the browser will timeout.

Problems with 2 tables on same page (in tabs)

i have two data tables bound to different data providers on a page
the tables are presented in two of the tabs of a 5 tab tabset
both tables bind to the data, refresh etc fine. i can customise the data, sort the tables, paginate and so on. no problems.
however, both tables have an edit and a delete button. on table 1 these buttons work fine and fire the appropriate event handlers. on table 2 the buttons i have added to the second table don't seem to fire any event when they are clicked - i have run in debug mode and nothing is happening when the buttons are clicked at any point in the code that i can find
has anyone had similar problems - anyone got any suggestions

I actually ended up tracing it back to an issue with the data provider - essentially, I had changes some of the table structure behind the data provider and this seemed to cause the table in question to not fire the button events - it seemed that because part of the compound primary key was not selected in the data provider's source rowset, the provider could not get a row key and therefore the events did not fire - i have it working now though after modifying the backing query

Problems with multiple users in XP

Problem: Using Windows XP...Previously had two separate ITunes for 2 different users with different music, etc. Only 1 Ipod (a nano) was used. Just upgraded ITunes to 7.0.2 and added a new Ipod (a mini)to the computer under the administrator account. The update went well but ITunes consolidated both sets of songs into one user. If I open it under one account it works fine. When I try to open ITunes under the other user, instead of opening it tries to reinstall ITunes and then gives me an error because that user does not have administrative privileges. Nothing I've tried seems to work. Help!

Unfortunately, PSA SE [the free version] has this limitation as the catalogue is fixed and located some where in the Docs&Settings area for the current user. The paid-for version [PSA 2] and its successors [PSE 3/4] are much more flexible.

Share iTunes library with multiple users of same computer

I have a new Vista Ultimate 32 computer and copied my existing iTunes library to the administrator acct in Vista. Now I want the family to use the user accts rather than the admin acct when on the computer. How can I get iTunes in a user acct to default to the library that exists in the admin acct?
I don't want to share w/other computers and I don't have a network. This is a single stand alone computer w/multiple accts.
I am stumped so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Problems with multiple devices using same apple ID

I have a Macbook, iPad and iPhone. After doing an IOS update now my devices keep saying I cannot use that same appleid because it's already taken. I cannot find away around this and want to know experience of others

That warning occurs only if you try to create a new Apple ID using an email address already in use. An existing Apple ID can be used with mutiple devices.
What exactly did you do when you got that message?
