URGENT!These errors shutdown one server in cluster.
Hi,
We are getting following errors in our portal which ultimately shutdown one server in the cluster.
Can anybody help?

Session Bean Client Hangs when one Server in Cluster Fails
We are testing several failure scenarios and one has come up that concerns us.
Some background: Were running a WLS6.1 cluster on two separate machines. We
start a test client consisting of 50 active threads and let them start calling
into a session bean. After a couple minutes we pull the network plug out of one
of the machines to simulate an uncontrolled crash of the machine. Once the plug
is pulled the clients hang and of more concern any new clients that we startup
also hang. Has anyone successfully solved this problem? When we kill one of Weblogic instances in the cluster none of the clients fail.
All of our clients fail-over to the remaining servers. It's pulling the network
plug to our of the server that causes everything to hang. Not just or test client,
but the other servers in the cluster hang. The control panel doesn't respond
at all either. We currently have a support case open with BEA #348184 about this.
We've gotten a prompt response in which we were asked to modify our configuration
by deploying our beans to each individual server rather than the cluster. We
did this, but the results so far have not changed.
Thanks for the feedback,
Howard.

We haven't encountered something like that, so it could be a setup problem.
Can you verify that the t3 url hostname the client threads use resolves
to the
ip addresses of each machine in the cluster? Are all machines in the
cluster
listening at the same port number? Also, does it matter if you kill one
of the
weblogic processes instead of pulling the plug? (i.e., if you leave the
network
layer up?)
Check also that your threads aren't simply blocking each other when the
server
goes down? E.g. start multiple test client processes with one thread
each just
to test.
What we notice is (with round-robin cluster policy), as we bring down
one of
the servers, the clients will continue to work on the second server,
but will slow
down between method invocations as they still attempt to connect to the
downed
server.
After a short period of time (~30 seconds) the clients will fully switch
to the
second machine and processing continues at full speed again, until the
downed
machine is brought back up, at which point work is distributed evenly
again.
Also, when the first server is brought down, some of the clients may
terminate
with a PeerGoneException (or something similar to that.) So unless your
threads
are catching exceptions, they might terminate as well.

-Ade

Urgent - Handle error when mail server is down
Hi,
Can anyone assist on how we can handle the case when the mail server is down? For instance is it going to be implemented like
exception when +???+
Or is there any other way to handle this in order not to get frm-error in oracle forms?
Thank you

Edited by: MrProud on Mar 26, 2009 12:33 AMI think OP's problem doesn't related with FORMS. He should CATCH that error code and return normal readable error to user
Moreover, I advice to OP to read briefly documentation related with [UTL_SMTP |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/u_smtp.htm#CHDCFFDI] package
And also to take a look at default [Exceptions |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/u_smtp.htm#i1006659] which can be raised when using UTL_SMTP package

Restart of one server in cluster
Here is what is happening:
I started server1 then started server2 on a cluster. Then I run a client on either
server using localhost in the url and all the EJB calls are handled by the EJBs
on the local server.
Then I stopped and retarted server2.
Now I run a client on server2 using localhost in my url and method on the session
bean I am calling is invoked on server1 (not server2).
Can someone explain why this is happening. Is this supposed to be happening.
If not how can I fix this.
Thanks

Unable to connect error while connecting to more than one server in a cluster
hi,
I have a weblogic cluster of two servers. The stateless session bean is deployed
on both these servers as well as the cluster. The weblogic used is 6.0 sp2. I'm
using a custom router class which redirects the calls to bean's business methods
in a round-robin fashion to all the servers in the cluster.
When both the servers (say s1 and s2) are up and running a request comes from
a servlet deployed on admin server, the request is first sent to s1 which is fulfilled
but in the same servlet a second call is made to the bean which the custom router
class directs to s2, but here the exception comes as, unable to connect to JVM
of the remote server s2.
Now if I shutdown s1 and retry then, the request is nicely routed to s2 and fulfilled.
And if s1 is up again and request is sent to it, this time it gives same error
for the s1.
So on the whole the admin is able to talk only to one of the servers. why is this
happening ?
Here all the three servers s1, s2 and admin server are on different physical machines.
any pointers ?
regards,
Nikhil.
Opps!
Sorry, I had an error in the 3rd SQL statement. Works fine

Error calling a webservice from one server process of the cluster
Hi ,
I have a servlet which on startup makes a call to a webservice. I deploy this webapp on the cluster.
The cluster has two instances each instance having one server process.
So when the server restarts one server process on one instance calls the web service the other process on other instance fails with a 503 response code.
When I tried to reproduce the same problem using two server processes on the same instance both processes are able to call the webservice properly.
I am slightly confused as to how different the second scenario is from first one as both are individual server process and may or may not run on same instance.
Can anyone tell me the real cause.

We have a number of users all of a sudden getting "No connectivity with the server. The file 'xxx' can't be opened because the server couldn't be contacted." errors trying to open MS Office docs (Word, Excel, etc.) in SharePoint with IE,
just by clicking the link and selecting the "Read Only" option. If they select the "Check Out and Edit" option, they can open the document no problem. One of my customers gets the error on one document but not the other, in
the same document library! The older document (a weekly report) was copied and renamed as per standard procedure. She can read the older document, but not the new one.
It is definitely a profile issue, as other people have logged onto the machines of the users with problems and do not get the error. We have also renamed people's c:\user profile folders and the corresponding Profilelist registry entry and the newly
created profile does not experience the error for these people. Renaming the profile back restores all their personal settings but the error reappears. When we copied the old profile's folder structure into the new profile, many of the user settings
were restored (but not all, like Dreamweaver settings) but the error did not appear. We think that the system folders files (like AppData) weren't totally copied over so we're going to run another test using xcopy. We are rebooting between
logons to make sure all files are unlocked.
The laptops and computers are mainly 32bit, Win7 Enterprise running IE9 and Office 2010 Professional Plus, but there's a few 64bit machines as well. The SharePoint farm has 1 WFE, 1 App Server running search and CA, and a shared database server running SQL
2005 SP4. SharePoint is 64bit MOSS 2007 with the latest CU.
We've checked the logs on the client as well as on the server and there aren't any helpful entries. We've also run Process Monitor, also with no helpful entries. We're planning to run something like Fiddler next.
It's not everyone, because there are many people are accessing the SharePoint system and the same files. It is also not a permission thing, as we've tested by giving the users elevated permissions with no changes. One person experiencing
the errors is a Site Collection Admin. That same person ran a test where I coped a simple Excel file into a Document Library which contained a problem file. They were able to open it Read Only no problems that day, but the next day, the same
file gave them an error. In their case, they usually get a "xxx is not checked out" error and only occasionally get the "No connectivity with the server" error.
We've tried lots of things including:
Deleting IE cache
Deleting SharePoint Drafts and webcache folder contents
Running IE without add-ons
Upgrading and Downgrading IE
Uninstalling and re-installing IE
Reinstalling our SSL certs
Repairing Office
Removing and then adding back in the Microsoft Office "Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support" Office Tool
Deleting all HKLM and HKLU Office registry settings
Toggling IE Compatibility Settings
Toggling the IE Automatic Logon option
Toggling the location of checked out files
Adding the site in the trusted sites list
Adding the site to the WebClient\Parameters registry locations
Making sure the WebClient service is started
Rebooting the machine (lol :)
This is becoming a serious issue, not just because of the inconvenience for the users having to check out every document they want to read, but we have some files with macros that open up other documents to run which are now failing. There aren't
"check out" workarounds for some of those macros.
We're planning to open a ticket with Microsoft, but I'm throwing it out here first in case someone has run into this before, or may have some suggestions on what to try next. Thanks!
-Richard.
PS I think this needs to be in the "General" forum instead? It took three days of dedicated troubleshooting, but I have found the cause of the errors, and a couple of fixes. It helped tremendously that my own machine was throwing the error. I have scheduled a couple of users to work with me to test the
various fixes, to see which one works best, so the story isn't over yet.
I had backed up my c:\users profile folder and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList registry key so I could restore my profile after I was done. I made a copy of the profile folder and was using that for awhile,
but then made another copy where I had deleted a lot of content out of it so that the copies would go faster. Since a newly created profile did not have errors, I was trying to copy back as much of the profile as possible to make it easier for our users
to get back to work. Instead of blowing away their profile and starting from scratch (which we know worked) I wanted to narrow down what was causing the error and just skip that from the restore. The concept was to keep as much as the users profile
in tact (application settings, etc.) not just restoring their desktop and My Documents folders.
When we first tested a few weeks ago, simply copying the folder contents didn't reproduce the error. I then tried xcopy, but got the "can't read file" error. Then I tried robocopy, and ran into the "junction" problem.
I went back to xcopy, and found that placing the excludes.txt file in the windows/system32 folder eliminated the error.
So the process went as follows:
Reboot and log into the machine as another user
Delete the profile and associated registry key
Reboot and log into the machine as the affected user, creating a new profile, and there is no error
Reboot and log in as the other user
xcopy the contents of the skinned-down backed-up profile to the newly created profile
Reboot and log in as the affected user, and the error occurs
Repeat the above, but add items in the excludes.txt file to see what, when eliminated, causes the error not to appear in the last step
I eventually found that skipping the c:\users\<profile folder>\appdata\local\Microsoft\office\14.0 folder allowed the entire profile to be copied over without the error occurring. That was strange, because we've cleaned out the cache folders
before which didn't fix the issue.
So I went about it the opposite way, and tried to delete the 14.0 folder from the restored profile, and after reboot, the error still occurred.
What eventually worked was deleting the 14.0 folder and copying over a 14.0 folder from a newly created profile!
One way to do this was to:
Reboot and log in as another user
Rename the c:\users profile folder
Rename the appropriate [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList] registry key
Reboot and log in as the affected user, confirm that there is no error
Reboot and log in as the other user
Copy the C:\Users\<profile folder>\AppData\Local\microsoft\Office\14.0 folder to the other user's desktop
Delete new profile folder, and rename the backup to be the production folder
Delete the C:\Users\<profile folder>\AppData\Local\microsoft\Office\14.0 folder and then paste the 14.0 copy from the desktop
Reboot and log in as the affected user, confirm that there is no error
We've tried this on a couple machines and it works. I had to run Windows Explorer as Administrator to access the other profile's folders.
We've also successfully copied a 14.0 folder created by one profile on one affected computer over another profile's folder on another computer, eliminating the error, so we're trying that first, as that is fewer steps.
We may attempt to script this, but the self-help instructions are only 5 lines long:
Reboot and log into the affected computer with another account
Go to <link to location of 14.0 folder on network> and copy the 14.0 folder
Run Windows Explorer as Administrator
Go to c:\users\<profile folder>\appdata\local\microsoft\office and delete the 14.0 folder, and paste the copied 14.0 folder (trying to overwrite it makes Win7 want to merge the folders)
Reboot and log into your normal account, and confirm the error is gone
I'll come back and report after we go into the field with this fix, but after the few tests, I am cautiously optimistic that this is it. -

ManuHi Manu,
As Deepak mentioned, please try to enable IPv6 on all member servers first.
Based on my research, In Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, IPv6 is supported only when IPv4 is also installed and enabled. If Exchange 2013 is deployed in this configuration, and the network supports IPv4 and IPv6, all Exchange servers can send data to and
receive data from devices, servers, and clients that use IPv6 addresses.
Please also configure or disable Firewall to allow the connection.
Thanks

Dear community memebers,
Can you help? I manage two sun web servers that are set up identically with the exception that one is on a clustered Solaris system.
I used the standard Sun Web Server interface set up JDBC Data Resources for my databases to do connection pooling. My web application runs simple queries using the class attached below.
On one web server, the one not running on the cluster, I never have issues with the data sources.
On the other web server, the one running on the Solaris cluster, I often get the following error:
java.sql.SQLException: RSR0009: Resource not available for pool [MyDBResource]. Wait-time expired. This error comes up irregularly after several days where there are no problems. The particular database involved is a MySQL database. The web server version is the newest one available.
Can you suggest what I might be doing incorrectly?
Here is the class with which I access the data source. You'll see that I close all connections.

dailysunDid you ever solve this issue? We are running an applications on 4 Sun web servers. Every now and then, we get the following error on one or two of the servers.
java.sql.SQLException: RSR0009: Resource not available for pool [jdbc/homeDB]. Wait-time expired
It has been happening a couple times a week where the connection pool on a server becomes unusable and a restart is needed. We just keep getting the error message (wait time expired) over and over again (we have a health check jsp that makes a database call that gets executed every minute or so) It usually happens in the middle of the night and it usually only affects one server, but every now and then it will occur on two around the same time. It has happened at least once on each server. There is nothing unusual from the database side except that a bunch of connections seem to get dropped around the time we see the initial error message. We are using SPRING (JdbcTemplate) to handle the connections and query, so we do not have any custom code to close connections/results/statements. The application only queries the database and does not do any inserts/updates/deletes. We also get the following error message prior to the "Resource not available for pool" error messages.

The error while shutdown the server
I installed the JDK1.3.0 and OC4J standalone Version 9.0.3.0.0. I have no problem to start the server by using oc4j.jar. However, I am not able to shutdown the server by
java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost/ admin kzhou -shutdown.
J2ee_home was set to $oracle_home/j2ee/home. I am using window NT.
The error is as follows:
javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.net.ConnectException:Connection refused: no further information; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information.
Could anybody tell me what I can do to fix it?
Thanks a lot.
KathyHere is what I did.
1) Uninstalled the JDK1.3.0
2) renamed the $oracle_home/jdk to $oracle_home/jdk13
3) Installed the J2SDK1.3.1 in the oracle home directory as $oracle_home/jdk
4) copied jar files from jdk13 folder to new jdk folder
5) started the server from Command line
6) opened the second Command Prompt and shutdown the server. The server stopped.
Online notes mentioned in Michael's comment is very helpful. Thanks.

Hi All,
I was running my servlet code in iPlanet 6.0 version and it was working fine. I upgraded my web server to new Sun One server (Oracle-iPlanet-Web-Server-7.0.9). With the new web server almost 90% of my application works fine, but there is a features in my application to download an Excel sheet by clicking a button. This feature is failing in new Sun One web server.
Below are my piece of code and the error log I m getting. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this error, I mean is there any web server specific change or configuration parameter need to be set.
Please ask for any information regarding my server configuration settings if needed for finding a solution for this

bufferedoutputstream = new BufferedOutputStream(httpservletresponse.getOutputStream());
int j;
long byteCount=0;
while((j = bufferedinputstream.read(abyte0, 0, 1024)) != -1)
byteCount=byteCount+j;

logger.log("total"+byteCount);
logger.log("Read bytes:"+j);
bufferedoutputstream.write(abyte0, 0, j);
