URL Of BI Publisher Report
Hi,
I have a report in BI Publisher which invokes from a button in Oracle ADF Application.
The public URL which BI Publisher use for showing report in browser has many params with its value.
What I found during playing, that if you change any param value in Address bar of browser, instead of showing 'Page not found or something', it show BI Publisher Administration Login Page.
We should know that kind of users can deliberately play & found this login page.
How to avoid this situation ?
Version - Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1
Thanks.
In 10g version, you acquire the report link by accessing "Link to this report" and selecting "Document only" and copying the url text.
In 11g, you have to select "Allow Sharing Report Links" and then under "Actions", you should see the "Share Report Link" option..

Run XML Publisher Report via URL (like Oracle Reports)
Hi All,
Is it possible to run xml-publisher report via URL?
In Oracle Reports works this fine:
http://test:7777/reports/rwservlet?server=test_bihome1&report=test1.rdf&userid=test/testv@db&desformat=pdf&destype=cache
We need this for public reports without user login.
Thanks
ThomasThomas,
I was waiting to get home before Tim replied... He got the better of me this time :-)
You say you want to let your users run reports using XMLP just by clicking on an URL same way you do with reports and without having to login. If I got the question right and assuming that:
1.Your company is not overly concerned on who runs what reports
2.Who sees what data
3.Your XMLP installation is on your intranet and firewalled from the outside
What you can do is:
On the main page of your XMLP Enterprise installation you should see a folder called "Guest". Any report you create under this folder is run as user "guest" which means you don't have to authenticate yourself as you would normally do.
I have tested this on my home server and this is what I've done:
1.Logged in as admin or any other user you've created with admin privileges created a report under the "Guest" folder.
2.Copied the URL, on my server it is "http://samba.private.net:15101/xmlpserver/Guest/People/People.xdo"
4.Logged off as admin and pasted the URL to a new browser window
5.Hit return and Voila, my report runs without the need to login to XMLP.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you got on.
Cheers,
Joao
PS: If you want to see the report for yourself here's the URL from the outside: http://medeiros.homelinux.net:15101/xmlpserver/Guest/People/People.xdo
I'll keep the link alive for a couple of days. -

Open BI Publisher Report After Submit
I have a page with 2 date fields, which are parameters for a report.
I also have a button called RUN_REPORT.
What I need to do is that the user puts the parameters in, then clicks RUN_REPORT. The page should submit (putting parameters into session state) and then a BI Publisher report should appear in a pop up page.
At the moment using the code below, the user inputs parameters and clicks RUN-REPORT (SUBMIT). Unfortunatley the BI report tries to open before the submit is finished. So there are no items in session state for the report to use as parameters.
Page HTML Header
<script type="text/javascript">
function renew()
doSubmit('SUBMIT')
popupURL('This contains my string to open the report')
</script>On my button
javascript:renew();Help appreciated
GusI've solved this in two ways:
First solution:
- The last parameter the user has to pick is in a selectlist which submits the page
- The button redirects to url:
javascript:popUpNamed('URL','');Seccond solution (and user-friendlier solution ;) ):
1 - Hidden item (say P_RAP), default it's empty
2 - The buttons Action is 'Submit page'
3 - A conditional Branche to the own page, which only runs when the report button is pressed.
3a -- This branche sets the hidden Item (P_RAP) with the report name (in my case, becouse I can start multiple reports on the page and I use it in my URL to the report, it can also be just a 1 or something, just that it is filled)
4 - A Page Process which runs On Load - After Header, and is conditional: Value of Item P_RAP is NOT NULL.
4a -- The code of this process is:
BEGIN
htp.p('<script type="text/javascript">');
htp.p('w = open("URL_to_the_report","_blank","Scrollbars=0,location=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,toolbar=0,left=50,top=100,width=500,height=500");');
htp.p('</script>');
:P_RAP:=''; /*clear the P_RAP item after starting the report*/
END;Hope this helps -
XML Publisher Report Output from OAF Page
Hi,
I created a button in a OAF page, and called the XML publisher Report program on click of this button. The concurrent request was ran when check from View Requests. When I click on viewout, the pdf document was open with the option, open, save, cancel. But this is not coming up in the OAF page. when debugged the code, the url is null.
Please see the below code.
OADBTransactionImpl oadbtransactionimpl = (OADBTransactionImpl)paramOAPageContext.getRootApplicationModule().getOADBTransaction();
String s1 = oadbtransactionimpl.getAppsContext().getEnvStore().getEnv("TWO_TASK");
System.out.println("s1 = " + s1);
String s2 = oadbtransactionimpl.getAppsContext().getEnvStore().getEnv("GWYUID");
System.out.println("s2 = " + s2);
String s3 = "BEGIN :1 := fnd_webfile.get_url(fnd_webfile.request_out, :2, :3, :4, 2); end;";
CallableStatement callablestatement = paramOAPageContext.getApplicationModule(paramOAWebBean).getOADBTransaction().createCallableStatement(s3, 1);
System.out.println("s3 = " + s3);
if(requestId != 0)
try
Number number = new Number(requestId);
callablestatement.registerOutParameter(1, 12);
callablestatement.setInt(2, number.intValue());
callablestatement.setString(3, s2);
callablestatement.setString(4, s1);
callablestatement.execute();
String s4 = callablestatement.getString(1);
System.out.println("Before S4 if statement");
if(s4 == null || s4.equals(""))
// throw new RuntimeException();
System.out.println("URL is null");
System.out.println(" print ouput url - " + s4 );
// throw OAException.wrapperException(exception);
oadbtransactionimpl.putValue("OutputURL", s4);
System.out.println(" print ouput url - " + s4 );
}Look at the links AJ gave.
Basically what you will do is create a Data Definition and assign a Data Template to it. Create a (document) Template and assign it to your data definition. You will use the XML Publisher Java API classes to pass parameters to your data template and extract the XML data. Then you will use this in conjunction with your document template and the OAF integration region to present the final output to the user.
All of these things are in the XML Publisher documentation and Javadocs. -
XML Publisher report not printing excel output due to special characters
Hello,
I am trying to create a xml publisher report which should display the output in excel. But the program completes with a warning status and the output is displayed as XML instead of excel, with some errors "An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource " and i think these errors are due to the special characters(eg: city/province - A Coruña, Cáceres). If i give rownum < 10 in my query, where there are no such characters it works fine and i am getting an excel output.
Tried changing the XML encoding and it doesn't help (both mentioned below)
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Do anyone have a solution for this
Thanks in advance

Inserting a link to BI Publisher report and passing the dashboard prompts
I have an answers dashboard where there are various prompts (say P1, P2, P3, P4 -all these are date prompts )and various reports.
These Prompts are stored as Presentation variable say var1, var2, var3, var4.
I need to insert a Link on this page to a BI Publisher Report. BI Publisher report also has some prompts say D1, D2, D3 , D4, D5, D6
The link should take the values from the prompts of this page and open the BI Publisher report with D1= value of Prompt P1,
D2= value of prompt P2, D3= value of Prompt P3, and D4= value of Prompt P4.
I was easily able to use an action link -> "Navigate to Web Page" option. I gave the URL for this BI Publisher report and clicking on that link takes me to the report.
But I am still figuring out out to send the values of the prompts.
The BI Publisher Report is :
- built from an RTF template.
- uses a SQL Query with Bind variables to get the value of its prompts D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6.
- Suppose D1 is bind variable :date1, D2 is bind variable :date2, D3 is bind variable :date3 and D4 is bind variable :dat4.
So my first try was to append the value of bind variable to the URL
https://xxname.server.com/analytics/saw.dll?bipublisherEntry&Action=open&itemType=.xdo&bipPath=%2FSurvey%2FPhoneCount%20Record.xdo&path=%2Fshared%2FSurvey%2FPhoneCount%20Record.xdo.xdo&date1=var1
Can someone suggest the steps I need to take to make this work.
ThanksHi, I am facing the same issue (OBIEE 11g version0
Please let me know if you found any solution or workaround for this?
Thanks!! -

Link to BI Publisher report with parameters
I want to link from one BIP report to another. I have created a BI Publisher report using the Layout Editor. Using the following link, I can connect to the BIP report when directly pasted into the address bar in firefox.
http://xxxxxxxxx/xmlpserver/Sample Reports/Developmment_ML/Report_Fin_Ledger_MN.xdo?_xpf=&_xpt=0&_xdo=%2FSample%20Reports%2FDevelopmment_ML%2FReport_Fin_Ledger_MN.xdo&_xmode=&_paramsCompany=00050&_xt=LO_Fin_Account_Ledger_02&_xf=html&_xautorun=true
Note: I obtained the syntax for this link by viewing the target report and selecting Actions --> Share Report Link
I created a second BI Publisher report using the Layout Editor. Within the Layout Editor, I modify the Properties of one of the fields. In the box next to "URL", I past the same link as above.
However, when I view the report in HTML format, the link truncates anything after the first xdo to only return:
http://xxxxxxxxx/xmlpserver/Sample Reports/Developmment_ML/Report_Fin_Ledger_MN.xdo
As a result it does not pass the parameter value and run the report.
Any assistance would be helpful. Thanks!Hi,
I found a way to do this using javascript in "HTML Header" in the Page section of an APEX Page
<script type="text/javascript">
function invokeURL()
var parameterId = document.getElementById("P2_PARAMETER").value;
alert ("hello "+objectiveId);
var url =
"http://xxhost:port/xmlpserver/XXFOLDER_NAME/xxxx_test_report2.2/xxxx_test_report2.2.xdo?_xpf=&_xpt=0&_xdo=%2XXXX_XXX%2Fxxxx_test_report2.2%2Fxxxx_test_report2.2.xdo&G_PARAMETER_NAME="+parameterId+"&_xt=defaultlayout&_xf=pdf&_xmode=2";
window.open(url);
</script>
This can invoked in a button by passing "javascript:invokeURL();" to the "Optional URL Redirect" section.
Thanks

I call a bi publisher report from an apex button using:
javascript:popupURL('&BI_URL.Guest/MERCURY/CUSTOMS/REJECTS/MER_REJECTS_MISC/MER_REJECTS_MISC.xdo?_xpf=&_xpt=0&_xdo=%2FGuest%2FMERCURY%2FCUSTOMS%2FREJECTS%2FMER_REJECTS_MISC%2FMER_REJECTS_MISC.xdo&P_REJECT_ID=&P59_REJECT_ID.&_xt=MER_REJECTS_MISC&_xf=rtf&_xmode=4');
{CODE}
The report opens but there is no standard toolbar, ie, cannot print or save. Do I need to specify something in the url.
If I open this as a pdf then the print, save options are there
GusI changed the url and have managed to get the report to open in Word properly, ie, with toolbar.
javascript:popupURL('&BI_URL.Guest/MERCURY/CUSTOMS/REJECTS/MER_REJECTS_MISC/MER_REJECTS_MISC.xdo?_xpf=&_xpt=1&_xdo=%2FGuest%2FMERCURY%2FCUSTOMS%2FREJECTS%2FMER_REJECTS_MISC%2FMER_REJECTS_MISC.xdo&P_REJECT_ID=&P59_REJECT_ID.&_xt=MER_REJECTS_MISC&_xf=rtf');I changed the xpt=0 to xpt=1 and deleted anything after the _xf=rtf'.
This now opens in word correctly, but also opens an extra blank window. I have had this problem before and thought I had solved it by using the aboce codel.
Does anybody know how to stop the generation of the blank window
Cheers
