Usage of a specific infoobject in Queris/Workbooks

Hi everybody.
I'm going to add some nav. attribute to 0vendor infobject, and than
I need to update many queries in which 0vendor exists by replacing the
0vendor by the new nav. attribute.
I need to now in which workbooks/queries that are in use (in the last 30 days)
I have to make the changes.
Please help !!!
Thanks
M.B.

I'm affraid you'll have to dig into some tables... here are a few that might be usefull
RSRREPDIR (you can find all queries linked to a Cube or get at least the guid of a query)
RSZELTXREF (with the guid you found before, you can retrieve ALL the query elements)
RSZELTDIR (gives more details about the elements... )
it'll depend whether you want to look on variables on the InfoObject or just the use of the InfoObject in rows/columns how far you have to dig... obviously you can dig the other way

  • How to know if a specific InfoObject is being used in any Query

    Dear SDN members,
    I have an InfoObject which is being used for one of the InfoCube. This specific Infocube has more than 100 queries created. Is there any way I can find out if above mentioned Info Object is being used anywhere in one of those queries without manually checking one by one.
    I tried where used list which appears on the InfoObject screen. This is just showing Cubes, ODS, TRs, Infosources... but not covering the queries.
    Your help is much appreciated.
    many thanks
    Shanthi

    Hi Shanti,
    You can see this in the Metadata repository.
    Select infoobject and the the specific infoobject.
    It will show you a list of queries where the infoobject is used.
    Success

  • Hyperion reports to BI queries/workbooks

    HI,
    Can you anyone please give me some idea how to convert old Hyperion reports to BI queries/workbooks.
    What are the steps involved in conversion?
    Regards,
    Ashok

    Hi Ashok,
    BW data could be reported from Hyperion by connecting the system with the right adapter,
    the other way around isn't possible (querying hyperion data via BW) except by setting the hyperion DB as a DB/UD Connect source system and having remote IProviders on-top of it.
    If you need then you can  synchronize BW metadata in Hyperion then,
    create a report in Hyperion which will retrieve data from a BW query released for OLE/DB for OLAP (query properties/extended).
    now you can access any BW query / cube / multiprovider in BW system
    Hope it helps.....

  • Publishing queries/workbooks to roles

    I'd like to know what the best practice is for organising the above. Our problem is that we develop a number of workbooks local to production. If we publish these to the roles carrying authorisations then they will be overwritten the next time we make a change to the authorisation values and reimport the roles. Is it necessary to have some roles which are used to hold authorisations and others to act as objects to publish queries/workbooks to?

    Yes,
    And I believe that's the best practice.
    Create a role just to publish the queries/workbooks only (just for the Menu).
    Create another role for the authorization objects.
    Both roles should be assigned to the user but manage independently.

  • Can BEX queries / workbooks directly called from the EP

    Hi,
    We are trying to call queries / workbooks directly from the portal using SAP connector / RFC's.
    Thanks.

    Here is my code in a file I used as a sample. I put the bee in a symbol named world and it works correctly:
    EC.SVG.accessSVG(sym.getSymbol('world').$('bees')).done(
              function(svgDocument){
                        // add event listener
                        svgDocument.addEventListener("select", function(event) {
                        // Remember selected part
                        sym.setVariable("selectedPart", event.target);
                        // show the id of the selected part in the textfield
                        sym.$("selectedPartTxt").html( event.target.id );
    Let me know if this helps. I can post the sample if you want.

    Dear Experts,
    I have an urgent requirement to join information about roles, queries, workbooks and users.
    Can you tell me which all tables I should be looking into?

    Hi Kris,
    Please see this link below : -

    It is for roles, i think you have table for queries already in your previous post.

  • Listing Queries/Workbooks in Roles

    Hi!  Is there a way to list queries/workbooks by role?
    Thanks in advance!
    Marnie

    Hi,
    When you log on to the BEx by workbook or query and when you press the role button, you should be able to see all the workbooks and queries by role.
    You can also check the listing in PFCG. Give the role name and all the workbooks and queries attached to that role can be found in the menu area.

  • Queries Workbook

    Hi,
    I am performing some changes in standard queries only introducing Auth. Variable and variable for restriction to Business Unit infoobject (BW3.5)
    Is there any potential risk with the existing queries saved in the workbook?
    Cheers,
    F

    Thanks for the answer.
    But changing standard queries (only introducing auth. variables or restriction) can have an impact -  i mean link issues to standard queries? need to be refreshed? - on the related workbooks created by users against these queries.

  • Review and clean up old queries/workbooks

    Hi Gurus,
    Is there a easy/automated way that we can run statistics of workbooks every 3 months and identify workbooks that are not being used. I tried using the standard statistics workbooks and one of the RS* tables- but did not get much luck. So, trying to see if you knew of any other way to do it.
    Points assured.

  • Queries.Workbook Naming Standards

    Hello,
    If we any restrictions on how you are allowed to name queries and workbooks in Bex. Like they should start with xxxx_xxx etc. Where can I find these settings in BW/Bex?
    My manager asked me to find out details. I'd appreciate if some one can help me ASAP.
    Thanks
    BIConsultant

    Usually, custom query names should start with "Z", followed by the name of InfoProvider and then name of query. Example, cube is ZXYZ. your query could be names something like:
    ZXYZ_Q_1_INCOMESTATEMENT
    Of course, clients can have their preferences too.
    Any Business Content object's name would start with "0"
    You can begin a name with any letter, but generally Z is used.
    I for queries, you can up to 30 characters.
    For workbooks, technical names are generated automatically, you just give the descriptions.
    Hope it helps,
    Farhan

  • Script to logout users from a specific group, when queries are long

    Hi,
    I have a requirement that users from a specific group need to be logged out, when they are running queries for more than say 20 mins.
    I could get the list of users from that group and could get the list of active sessions on the application, but I get too many info there like connection IP request state etc. and if I spool it to a file, output is not very easy to format to select what's required, rather I have to write lot of shell scripting to format the file.
    So my question here is to know if there's a MAXL script or any other method through which I can just get only couple of columns from the "display session on application <app name>" that I require for my work like username, session ID, DB connect time, and request time.
    Thanks!!

    There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but AFAIK none of them is straightforward like writing a script to accomplish the task.
    This could be accomplished quite readily with the Essbase API.
    Unfortunately, when Maxl outputs tabular data such as what comes out after DISPLAY SESSION ALL; - it comes out as all one big string with lots of spaces.
    So to parse that output you would need to use a language that can tokenize the text into a collection and parse that for the users.
    Then you need to do the same sort of thing after running DISPLAY USER IN GROUP ALL; (or instead of all, use a specific group name);
    Then run ALTER SYSTEM LOGOUT SESSION BY USER <parsed_username>;
    What would be ideal (hello Oracle... <wink> ) is a MAXL command ALTER SYSTEM LOGOUT SESSION BY GROUP <GroupName>;
    The way I would approach this would be to write a little utility that does exaclty what you seek:
    - Scan the current session periodically (say, once every 5 mins)
    - for each user that belongs to group(s) <group>(<group>...)
    - if user has an open query running longer than n minutes, kill the user request.
    This way you're not kicking people, your just taking back resources. Of course you can be more aggressive and code it to kick the user by forcefully ending (invalidating) his session too.
    I can give you a hand with this offline if you want.

  • Usage Based Optimization Wizard not finding Queries for Selected Measure Group (2008)

    I have configured my analysis services server to capture queries in an OLAP Query Log table. The connection string points to a table on a SQL Server relational database.  I have verified that the dbo.OlapQueryLog table was created. I have set it to
    capture every 5th query.  The table has been collecting query statistics for several hours. I opened my model in BIDS, clicked on the cube and opened the Aggregations tab.  I click on the measure group partition and select the Usage Based Optimization
    button. The wizard opens up and I click next.  In the "Specify Query Criteria" dialog, there is a warning that there "are no queries in the log for the selected measure group".  The problem is that there are queries but the UBO
    Wizard doesn't seem to be finding them.  Do I need to set a property in the BIDS to point to the location of the query log file in the relational database?
    davidg12

    Hi David,
    Is your SSAS database name and ID are same? We came across same kind of issue while ago. We initially created our database with one name and later renamed the database.
    The database name and ID should be same in order to perform Usage Based Optimization.
    To do so,
    On the solution explorer the top node is the database.
    Right click on that node and click edit database. In the property windown you should be able to see ID. The ID and the name of the database should be the same.
    If both are not same, Change the database name to match ID.
    Please mark as Answer if this helps!
