USB Palm sync problem

I tried to connect my Palm Tungsten T5 on my SunBlade 1500 (Solaris 9). I did what it is said to do.
After a prtconf -v, I found the "device" "palmone" etc. and the "compatible" values for the driver "usb830,61.100"+"usb830,61" and son on.
I ran :
add_drv -m '* 0666 root sys' -i '"usb830,61.100"' usba10_ugen
and I had a message saying that the driver was loaded but not attached.
I checked that the /etc/driver_aliases file had the line added.
I think I tried everything:
- plug and unplug in different USB ports;
- re-boot;
- even record all the possible compatible values using add_drv.
All I have is a "device (driver not attached)".
Is anyone has an idea to "attach" the driver?
I also have the printer and an external floppy drive plugged as USB devices (by the way immediately recognized by the system and integrated).
Another thing: the Tungsten T5 can be "see" as a USB key (an external drive). Of course, same thing: the mass-storage device is recognized but no driver is attached! ;-)
Any idea?

Another thing: the Tungsten T5 can be "see" as a USB
key (an external drive). Of course, same thing: the
mass-storage device is recognized but no driver is
attached! ;-)What seems to happen is that the scsa2usb driver sends a SCSI INQUIRY command. This freaks the T5 out to the point of causing it to lock up and rendering it unusable.
To override this, add the following lines at the end of /kernel/drv/usba10_scsa2usb.conf:
attribute-override-list =
"vid=0x830 pid=* rev=* subclass=ufi protocol=cb modesense=false";
stop and start `vold`, and the T5's drive(s) should show up under /rmdisk. I have it working.
In Solaris9 without all the latest USB patches, you may only use the T5 with USB2.0 (usba10 framework) ports. In Solaris10, the T5 works regardless of whether the USB1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 port is used, but the modification to /kernel/drv/usba10_scsa2usb.conf is still necessary.

  • Palm T|X sync problems w/ Calendar 10.1.2 for Mac OS

I have a new Palm T|X and running into sync problems with my Intel Mac. My IT people in my office can get oracle to sync from the "Macintosh to the handheld," but not sync, which makes my new palm nothing more than a fancy paper calendar (that my staff can't update/sync).
I am ready to return this palm, to essentially revert to an older version of a PDA, which I obviously don't want to do. Does anyone know when new oracle calendar conduits that support the palm T|X for MacOS will come out or what other measures I can take to make it sync properly? I'd like to decide whether I should return my new Palm, hold it for a future upgrade, or just go back to my paper calendar!
    HELP! Thanks in advance!

you need Oracle Calendar Sync version 9.0.4.2.11, which Oracle still has not put out on its download site, even though they will make it available on request.
I have numerous Palm units (mostly Treo 650s and T|Xs) synchronizing with a variety of Mac units (PPC and Intel) using 9.0.4.2.11 with no problems.

  • X6 and ovi suite sync problem - usb connection

i recently bought an x6 and set up ovi suite etc which all worked fine! yesterday i updated maps and the x6 operating system using ovi which again seemed to work fine. Now however when i connect phone to my pc the pc comes up problem with hardware installation and ovi suite only occassionally recognises phone - even when it does it will not sync music! help please - wish i hadn't updated anything as it all worked fine before !!!!

I have a similarly frustrating sync problem with my X6. It's my second phone too.
I've had Ovi Suite installed on my computer for about 9 months. I had difficulty getting it to sync with my X6 phone at first but after some troubleshooting I got it working reasonably well.
However over the last few months it doesn't initiate the syncing process after I connect my device. I can open Ovi Suite and click the sync buttons but it doesn't do anything. It doesn't freeze or crash either which is strange considering it is not processing the request.
I've tried everything including reinstalling the software and resetting my phone. This worked once and since went back to it's old tricks.
The only thing that works is removing the X6 device in OVI suite, rebooting the PC and adding the device again. This is real pain in the backside as you can imagine doing this each time I want to sync it.
In contrast the previous version - PC Suite - worked well with my old Nokia phone.
Nokia support have provided some guidance after pushing for a reply but you dont get expert or timely help from them.
Come on, we cant be just a few people having these issues? I reckon lots of x6 owners aren't getting full value from these devices.
It's at the stage where I'd not recommend a Nokia x6 or other Nokia phone to anyone wanting the PC connectivity which is one of the major benefits of a phone these days.
Go on Nokia give us some love!
One frustrated owner counting down the days to my upgrade option.

  • TX Sync Problem

I've read through several "Sync Problem" threads on this site and others, researched the available resources on Palm One and can't find any reference to the problem I'm having. I have a newer Windows XP PC that I built about a year ago that I'm trying to sync my TX to. Everytime I plug the TX into the Sync cable I get a weird recurring sequence of beeps from my PC. No error messages come up but I can't get the TX to sync, all I get is the recurring sequence of beeps. After pressing the sync button, I wait a few minutes and get a message that the TX is unable to connect to the desktop. I know the TX can sync because I can sync it with my older PC with no problems, which also means the cable is good. I don't have any problems with other USB devices I connect to the new PC (MP3 palyer, BB Curve, External Hard Drive, flash drives, etc) which should mean the USB ports on the new PC are good, and I've tried them all. It's not a firewall problem as it happens even if I disable the firewall totally. I have installed the latest Hot Sync manager and that didn't help. I have checked the setting in the Hot Sync manager and the USB source is selected, as it should be. As far as I can tell, the Palm related settings for both PC's are the same. At the present time this isn't exactly a life or death problem as I can still sync with and load programs via the older PC, but I'm trying to get to a point where I can shut down the older PC, refurb it and use it as the primary PC for my grandkids when they come to visit. The best way I can describe the beep sequence is "bebop.........bopbopbop". And it will continue, repeating every 3-4 seconds, as long as I have the TX plugged in and turned on. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to correct this problem, I will greatly appreciate the input. I've had this TX sync'd to as least two other PC's with no problems. Can't figure out what's wrong.

What design is the CPU on the computer?  Is it dual processor?  64bit OS?  If so, that may be the problem.
Since the device syncs fine on other computers, all fingers point to the PC having the problem.

  • Windows XP Hot Sync Problem

OK, I went to the Hot Sync problem thread (Start here) and didn't really find anything that might help me with what I've experienced.  Last week I did a Hot Sync as normal but with this particular sync I received a message that there was an error and to look at my sync log.  I went to the log and the following message appeared:
    -- Calendar
    - Some handheld records were not copied to your PC. Your computer may be full or you may have reached the maximum allowed records on the desktop. To correct this situation, delete some records and perform a HotSync operation again.
    Desktop = 7099, Handheld = 7081
The only problem with this message was that when I went to delete some records ALL my calendar items had been deleted!  Another sync didn't fix the problem.
Based on a prior problem with my address book, I decided to upgrade to the newer Hot Sync (6.x) which didn't fix the problem.
Both my datebook .DAT and .BAK files are at 1,682KB...so I'm wondering if they are really empty?
So, I'm looking for help in trying to restore my datebook data as there are important items from the last three months that I've lost.
    Any ideas?

Please excuse this new account name...I'm having an account(s) problem...but this is still that same person with the original problem...
This was the very first Hot Sync log message between my T/X Palm and my laptop (Compaq). [Shown just below these words.]  What I don’t understand about this is why there isn’t a warning message if my computer datebook.dat file is running out of space.  My hard disk is far from running out of space.  However, after all the potential advice and various activities I’ve done, I suspect this wasn’t the problem at all.
      -- Calendar
    - Some handheld records were not copied to your PC. Your computer may be full or you may have reached the maximum allowed records on the desktop. To correct this situation, delete some records and perform a HotSync operation again.
    Desktop = 7099, Handheld = 7081
After this I did an upgrade of my desktop software from v4.x to v6.x (Access) which had no effect on the problem.
I also installed the DbFixIt software and it found lots of errors and corrected them.  As a matter of fact I’ve run it a few times after trying unsuccessful Hot Sync’s and after each I’ve had more errors to fix.
Now this error occurred in mid January (I don’t remember the exact date.)  So even if my laptop data space was full I had another possibility in that I also have a desk/tower computer that I hadn’t sync’d with since September 08.  See below the line…
OK, so after getting the DbFixIt software advice and running it, I decided to see about restoring Date data via my older desktop computer.  So after “fixing” the datedata DB, I set the Hot Sync on my tower unit for the DESKTOP to overwrite the handheld.  After which I got this message below:
HotSync session started on 01/22/09 15:40:02, and completed in 154.0 seconds
     Date Book synchronization aborted
     Duration: 43.6 seconds
Could not read the next handheld record.
Please check your connections and try again.
Some handheld records were not copied to your PC. Your computer may be full or you may have reached the maximum allowed records on the desktop. To correct this situation, delete some records and perform a HotSync operation again.
     Desktop = 6910, Handheld = 7099
And guess what!  It still blew away my old desktop data just like it did on the laptop!  I have a very hard time understanding why this happened given what I selected for updating.
OK, so now I’m resigned to the fact that I’ve lost all my date data, some of which was very important.  Unfortunately I established backups just around this time and none of the backups have the correct data that I know of.  I have backed up the data files to a USB hard disk and I’ve also subscribed to Carbonite which is backing up my data as well.  Would you say that this is good enough?
What I want to do now is determine if my handheld has a hardware problem or not because I don’t want to loose my address DB data as that’s even more critically important than the date data.  So if you have further suggestions on how to ensure the proper and correct operation of the handheld, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,

  • Outlook 2003 + iPhone calendar sync problem solved

Here is how I solved my sync problem. Seems a lot of people have the same problem here with Outlook sync suddenly not working after it worked fine for a long time.
I've had Outlook 2003 calendar sync with my iPhone for a few month without any problem, but a few days ago the sync suddenly stopped without any error message. iTunes Diagnostic found no problem and I followed all the steps that Apple outlines to fix the problem but nothing worked (TS2776).
As Apple asked to, I created a new user account on my Windows machine and setup a few test calendar entries to sync with my iPhone. That all worked fine.
So I did what Apple doesn't tell you, and I copied my original Outlook Data file (.PST) over to my new user account and tried to sync that one. Now this didn't work. So I knew the problem lies somewhere in my PST file.
I have then tried to create a new one from scratch in my original Windows account, and copy all the data over. Again, it didn't work. So I emptied the file again, and copied all my calendar entries over to the new PST file in batches (first 10, then another 10, etc).
What I found at the end is that one single calendar entry I created a few days ago caused my sync to stop working. Once I removed this entry, everything worked fine again. Don't ask me what was wrong with it (I made a backup just in case Apple wants to see it), but now everything works again.
If you want to save some time to find which one it is, you may start deleting entries that you created just recently before it stopped working.
    Hope that helps.

Hi im having the same problem. I use outlook 2003 on windows xp and until recently my sync (using usb) was working fine. Now it would seem that calendar items are no longer syncing. can you give any further details of the calendar entry which was causing your problem? im wondering if it was added on a certain date perhaps.
I am running the inbox repair tool to see if my pst file has any problems but would appreciate any other help in the mean time.
    Cheers

  • ICal Print List Hang / Font Issue / Sync Problems...

Okay, here's a couple issues all wrapped up into one thread/post - reason is cause I suspect they may all be tied together somehow, but am not sure.
    Sync Problems...
Regarding the Syncing problems, you can find an ongoing thread about @ http://forums.markspace.com/viewtopic.php?t=1632
In short, some of us are having issues with events syncing to our Palm to the wrong timezone, causing them to be an hour off (usually within the new & old DST date change). Yes, all the usual fixes have been tried - pls read the thread noting "adairnet" and ymatto" postings.
Also, in addition to this time issue, I have iCal events that I've deleted in iCal still show up on the Palm after one-way syncing!
    Print List Hang...
Every week I print a "list" of events from a certain calendar. The past couple weeks I noticed some lines in the notes field printing on top of each other. Twas odd indeed, but I hadn't had the time to look into the reason. Then this week I was going thru my usual printing proceedure and now iCal locks up, hangs up, crashes, forcing me to force-quit the program. It's usually after I extend the dates beyond 2 or 3 days, but I've not been able to find a consistency. I've redone events thinking they were corrupt with no success.
    Font Problems...
After the Print List issue above, I opened my Console program to see if it was reporting anything. At first it indicated that it could not find Helvetica Neue and would substitute it for Helvetica. This put me in touch with some font corruption - so I got rid of those bad fonts and activated Helvetica Neue which got rid of that message. But made me wonder if there are more font problems causing the print hanging & syncing problems. I have FontAgent Pro and do have some font issues that I'm trying to work out.
But the Console is displaying another string of messages every time the Print List proceedure hangs up which I cannot figure out...

So, all of this is causing me to wonder if the iCal or SyncServices database is corrupt. Is there a way to dig into the iCal db and check for corruption &/or fix it?
Or does anybody have any further suggestions on any of these issues?
    thanx.jason.

    RedKamel,
The SyncServices folder should be avoided like "a swarm of bees". This article discusses some of the issues that can arise when the SyncServices folder is deleted or modified:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301920
Data loss and Data corruption can result from deleting or modifying the SyncServices folder, and that data loss or corruption can be propogated to devices, .Mac, and other applications that sync with SyncServices.
If you have isolated an issue with the other steps in your post, I would recomend speaking with AppleCare before removing that folder.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Ipod syncing problems...?

Im having several ipod syncing problems. I have an Ipod touch, 4th gen with the standard USB cable that comes with to charge it and sync it with. Today, i plugged it into my computer like normal to sync some new songs onto it from itunes. But, it started acting up. First, it kept syncing on and off, and the sync sound wouldnt stop- it wouldnt stay synced. then, later, when it finally did, not long after it said "this device does not support charging," and itunes didnt recognize my ipod anymore, so i couldnt sync my songs. is there any way i can fix this? thanks in advance.

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Hot Sync problems with Windows Vista using a Tungsten E2

Need Help solving a hot sync problem. Have a Tungsten E2, about a year old. Use Windows Vista OS. Can not sync to desktop. It worked fine for awhile then stopped sync'ing. Have reinstalled Palm Software, Have downloaded Palm 6.2. Have deleted all 3rd party apps,,,and their back up files. Particulary,,,,Epocrates apps, Took over my PDA. Installations and updates gets to synchronizing Calender and 'freezes' have left it on overnight figurng lots of data,,,,no progress. I need help. I really enjoy using this equipment.  I use my PDA for all my scheduling of work shifts appts etc. I would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks in advance. Mike.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  So if I am understanding you when you try to sync it goes to calendar and freezes and never completes the sync.  That being the case the first thing you want to do is go to the conduits and turn off calendar then sync and all should be successful, except calendar will not sync.  What this indicates is that you have corrupted data in your calendar, most likely on the E2.  Do a google search on your computer for a utility 'dbfixit' and download it to your computer.  Extract it so you have the dbfixit.prc file and double click on it to put it in the installer.  Then, insuring the calendar conduit is off, sync to install it.  Once installed run dbfixit.  This utility is free or can be purchased for (I believe) 12.95.  The free version will search for corruption and problems let you know where they are and you will have to manually fix or delete them.  If you register it, when you run the utility it will find the errors and fix them as well.  Once all errors are fixed, turn the calendar conduit back on and you should be able to sync.

  • 2014 Sync problems on iPod classic / Please help!! 2014

    Hello community!
I really need some help with this problem I am having... I have done some research for the past few days on my own but nothing I have found has helped.
First some specs on my device...
iPod Classic: 80 GB (I believe this is iPod with video, assumed on the fact that it supports movie syncs)
iPod software version: 1.1.2 (up to date according to iTunes)
    Formatted for Windows
Syncing to Dell Inspiron with Windows 7
iTunes updated to current version (11.4)
I had much mof my music library uploaded onto my iPod for quite sometime. (close to 14,000 songs synced at 192 kbps) I often like to put my iPod on shuffle and just listen to whatever comes on, but here and there I will skip songs until something I am in the mood for comes on... I began to notice that my iPod was freezing (ON THE DISPLAY ONLY!!! Playback through speakers continued) when I would skip through songs... Once the screen dimmed however, I could once again skip to the next song. I figured this was a problem concerning corrupted files or something similar. These are the steps I took..
1.) Updated iTunes to version 11.4 and checked for further updates
2.) ATTEMPTED to check disk within Windows (was unsuccessful and heard the iPod making a lot of 'clicking' noises from within the casing)
3.) Performed an iPod restore within iTunes
4.) Performed a check disk within Windows and recovered any bad sectors (SUCCESSFUL)
5.) Selected 'Music' sync and the option for 'Entire music library'
    6.) UNCHECKED 'Include music videos'
7.) Reconfigured settings as they were before and made slight changes..
a.) Checked 'Open iTunes when this iPod is connected'
b.) Checked 'Sync only checked songs and videos'
c.) Checked 'Convert higher bit rate songs to '192 kbps' AAC'
d.) Unchecked 'Manually manage music and videos'
         e.) Unchecked 'Enable disk use'
8.) Began a sync on my iPod... With well over 10,000 songs I knew this was going to be a lengthy process.. I left computer unattended..
When I returned to my computer, iTunes was unresponsive... The only way I could get iTunes to show was to minimize a Window on top of iTunes. iTunes states 'Syncing iPod... Do not disconnect' but does not show a rolling progress bar.. I cannot cancel sync, I cannot eject iPod, I cannot close iTunes...
I attempt to eject iPod device through windows, UNSUCCESSFUL (Cannot unmount generic volume while the device is in use)
I 'Ctrl+Alt+Dlt' to Task Manager and End Program 'iTunes' UNSUCCESSFUL..
I End Process 'iTunes.exe *32' and eject iPod through Windows SUCCESSFUL
When the iPod displayed 'OK to disconnect with load bar, I disconnected the device.
As soon as this bar was full iPod IMMEDIATELY rebooted completely and powered back up with only 20 songs synced. (Frustration ensues)
Confused and thinking maybe my screen saver caused an interruption during the sync, I changed screen saver and power saving options to eliminate any possible interruption, REPEATED STEPS 3-8 ABOVE, and started sync again.. Left computer unattended
Again, coming back to computer much later, iTunes was in the same unresponsive state. Closed iTunes and began looking for answers on the internet. Any and all answers I found stated I should restore iPod, update iTunes, run diagnostics tests, etc., etc...
All of which I had done EXCEPT for running a diagnostics test..
Running a diagnostics test: I ran only the tests concerned with 'Device Connectivity' and 'Device sync' tests.. Here are the very interesting results I yielded from these tests...
    Device Connectivity Test:
    Support services:
'iPod support service is running.' Status: GREEN
'iTunes Helper is running.' Status: GREEN
'Apple Mobile Device is running.' Status: GREEN
    Ports:
         'USB ports verified.' Status: GREEN
'No FireWire (IEEE 1394) ports found.' Status: GREEN
         'iPod found.' Status GREEN
    ALL TESTS PASSED
    Device Sync Tests
    Results:
No iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad found. Status: RED
    ONE OR MORE TESTS FAILED
I am at a loss, I realize that Apple has discontinued the iPod Classic but does that mean iTunes will no longer support these devices!?
And if ANYONE has ANY suggestions for possible steps I can take to regain syncing privileges to my iPod once again, please let me know!
Also, I have diagnostics test results saved on my desktop and available to post if required!
Thank you for any and all help!
    -Chris

    !UPDATE!
I made several adjustments to my sync options and made some progress and am now trying to sync in 'stages' as I like to think of them.
    Here is what I did:
1.) Under 'Music' tab in 'My iPod' options I opted to sync 'Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres'
2.) Selected a small portion of tunes I know I want on my iPod (ended up being close to 3,500 songs.
3.) Under 'Summary' tab I unchecked the 'Sync only checked songs and videos' box
4.) Unchecked 'Convert higher bit rate songs to ___ AAC'
    5.) Checked 'Enable disk use'
    6.) Ran a SUCCESSFUL sync!
I am now running a sync keeping the same adjustments in place and have added 6,556 songs. (SYNC IN PROGRESS)
I am wondering if trying to convert that many songs to a lower bit rate is causing sync problems and it appears as if I am at least making progress on this. HOWEVER, I really prefer to decrease the bit rate on my songs so I may fit more on my iPod... Usually most of the files I have in iTunes are at 320 kbps with a select few at 192 kbps. I would like to make everything the way it was before my first iPod restore.. 192 kbps, but this also seems to be the cause of the sync problems I am having? Anyone else have a comment on this?
    Thanks again
    -Chris

  • Itunes 10.2.2.12 - All Itunes 10 Version Sync problems

I am using Windows XP PC latest service pack, I have  a newer 5th Gen 16GB Ipod Nano, I now have the latest Itunes 10.2.2.12. Every since I have had this newer Ipod Nano, and with first version of Itunes 10, nothing but syncing problems. After calling  Apple Ipod Tech Support, and scouring Apple Help screens and forums, just like Apple Tech Support reps, the recommendation is mostly the same, they have me go through the grueling, time consuming process of Uninstalling and Re-installing Itunes, which I have done many times, sometimes it would help in syncing, many times not. Also tried other Apple support recommendation tricks with Apple Mobile Device too, and even upgraded to a Higher speed USB Port, again it would sync for a while and then eventually would start having same sync problems again, even after updating to the latest Itunes. Errors: Itunes is Unable to locate Ipod attached, or The required folder cannot be found.
When exactly will Apple tech Support put out a New Fully Stable Itunes Version to correct and remove these problems that occur over and  over again, with so many Ipod users online?? I am getting so frustrated, that I am looking for Itunes and even Ipod better alternatives to avoid these big time consuming headaches. Anybody have a Full solution, or at least somewhat permanent Solution to these Ipod sync Errors?? Thanks for your time.

well i'm running iTunes same vsn on a brand new iMac i7 2.93GHz and i'm constantly having to wait while the old beach ball of death appears. it usually only halts normal operation for 15 to 40secs but thats ridiculous enough. i've got 16Gb of DRAM and even with no other apps running this happens - and it happens about every 3 mins or so. crazy.
    9037 songs in the library.
i guess this is better than iPhoto 9 which crashed and refuses to boot full stop, in spite of several re-instals.
and i thought the new world of apple was gonna be rosy. hmmmm.

I found the listed records BUT either on dif days and they are "no timed" ones! and NOT multi-days ones.
I deleted them anyway - did a re-sync. With no different result. Still listed - though deleted and now non-existent.
Error code: OLERR: 03-000F (0xaf604005) and others - if this means anything.

    Hello,
I receive email on my device from two addresses: 1) @sprint.blackberry.net and 2) @charter.net.  When I was having problems similar to those you are experiencing, I had these two addresses listed under Default Services - Calendar (CICAl) - Messaging (CMIME).  These addresses were @sprint.blacberry.net and @charter.net. Once I followed the steps previously referenced, only one email address(@sprint.blackberry.net) appeared under the (CICAI) and (CMMIE) default setting.  Reference to @charter.net was removed.  My syncs have worked correctly since then; however, I only two way synce with the device and Outlooks.  I also continue to get emails from both addresses without a problem.
If you don't mind giving up the Yahoo calendar, I would do the same.  If you want to continue using the Yahoo calendar, I'm guessing that it must be selected in the Default Services - Calendar (CICAI) before performing a sync.  Likewise for your @sprint.blackberry.net address; it also must be selected in the Default Services prior to performing a device to Outlook sync.
    I hope this helps.

  • Sync problems with my iphone

Can anyone offer suggestions for trobleshooting sync problems with my iphone. Recently I have connected my iphone and my ipod to my computer while having itunes open and I do not see my devices in itunes. I have powered off the iphone and powered back on and I have the most recent version of itunes on my computer. I have also tried multiple USB ports and multiple cords on my computer. When I go to file in itunes, Sync is not an option (greyed out). Any suggestions?

Had the same issue last year on XP Pro.
    1) Start->All Programs->Apple Software Update Run this and make sure your up to date on iTunes.
    2) Unplug both devices.
    3) Restart the computer (I know your tired of being told this-it's a windows thing and sometimes it's a PO'd IT person thing either way do it).
    4) After restart open iTunes.
    5) wait a tad for iTunes to open all the way up, navigate through your music to make sure. Then connect the iPhone. Watch your clock area and you should see two pop-ups. One says Found new device, second says iPhone.
Last, if it doesn't appear it's because windows photo capture is trying to connect to the iPhone. Minimize iTunes and you'll probably have a pop up sitting there. THIS WINDOW will not show up in the task bar.

  • IPOD sync problems - are the new ones just as crappy?

Like everyone who uses an IPOD shuffle on a Windows computer, I constantly experience sync problems with the IPOD either not recognized or recognized as a different USB device. Constant plugging and unplugging into different USB ports usually solves the problem but what a freaking headache!
I'm thinking of getting a new music player and I want to know if the newer IPOD's (nano, shuffle, etc.) are as crappy with regard to USB port recognition and syncing as the 2nd generation shuffle?

You are obviously extremely dedicated. Just how long did it take you to talk to 30 or 40 million iPod Shuffle users and find out all of them had these issues?
Actually my guess would be your computer has an issue. I am assuming you are using a desktop computer? If this is true make sure you are using the full power USB ports in the rear of your computer.
Misidentification of your iPod would indicate a drive assignment problem, a problem that has been an issue since Windows was released. Make sure that all of the drivers for your other USB devices are current. If necessary use Device Manager and manually change the drive letter on the iPod.

  • New Touch Missing Movie Rental/Game "In-App Purchase" Sync Problems.

just picked up the new iPod Touch 4G (64GB) and am syncing to Win7 Starter (32bit).
I rented a few movies before I bought the Touch. They all seemed to download fine. the "Move" sync process seemed like it worked perfectly. When I looked back at my movies on my touch, some of them were missing. When I double checked my rental section in iTunes the movies were missing. I remember a dialogue later, saying that the file couldn't be found. I ran a quick windows search with no results.
So it seems like I could "Move" the movie fine, but after the sync finished, the files were gone from both the computer and the touch.
Could someone please explain this, and what I may do to recover those files? I did pay for them after all, and would still like to watch them. I just don't want to pay for them twice.
    Also (another similar issue):
I downloaded and played the game "FieldRunners" fine, but then decided to do an "in-app purchase" for the next level. I clicked download/entered my info/ and it seemed to download correctly, but when I re-entered the app, the level was not available to play. just weird.
FYI: this is my first iOS device, so please don't flame me for newbie ignorance.
    Any advice/suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks.
Overall, Here is my experience with the new touch:
First Connection: Installation did not work. Unplugged / Replugged USB worked correctly. (no restart necessary).
Selecting content to sync: Did not detect Outlook 2010 (FULL/NOT BETA) for Contacts/Calendar/etc.
I chose not to sync this through iTunes, and instead setup an "Exchange" account on my iPod Touch through google (m.google.com). Works perfectly.
I have my other email addresses forwarded through gmail to take care of push notifications. I still don't have Outlook 2010 calendars synced with google yet, but I'll figure that out.
Then I noticed the other sync problems mentioned above.
Again, any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Epski
Let us know how you go as i'm having the same issue also. I upgraded to yosemite and itunes 12 at the same time and thought the OS upgrade was the issue. I downgraded back to Mavericks again (for lots of reasons i won't go in to here) thinking this would fix the problem but it didn't.
When i play any video content from itunes 12 in full screen goes dark once the controls fade away. QT, appletv or anything else plays them perfectly, as per itunes 11!
You don't have a Samsung TV by any chance do you?
