Use javascript to make a Flex panel?

Trying to make a functional indeterminate progress bar, i'we tried almost anything i could think of. nothing worked (or it worked badly). the one thing i haven't tried yet is to use actionscript to create a palette with a swf movie inside.
but i need to create and call this palette using javascript.
is there a way to do this? something like:
app.doScript("actionscript code bla bla bla",ScriptLanguage.ActionScript)

You can't run a Flex script with doScript, you need to "run" it as an SWF inside a ScriptUI component:

  • Use javaScript to make an existing window full screen?

    We're working on a federator which will allow you to connect to an Oracle Text index as though it was another SES source. There are a few issues to sort out, but it should be available in a few weeks. It will likely have "sample code" status (meaning you get full source code to modify as you wish, but it will not be officially supported by Oracle Support).

  • Using Javascript

    Hi experts,
    Can javasript be enabled for a single pdf document. Client has a requirement to enable it to a single document, in default state it has to disabled. They are saying enabling javascript would be a insecure thing.
    Regards,
    Hobs

    I hope others chime in but I believe you can allow opening the document, but in a way that it is unusable. Then you use  JavaScript to make it usable (such as showing contents).
    So, if a user has JavaScript deactivated they can't use the document.

  • I would like to know why when i make a web page and test in my local browser it works fine then when i tranfer to my server i does not work fine example i used javascript to put a prompt bar on a page and it worked fine local but on server not working

    how come when i make a web site and i test it in my local server it works fine when i tranfer to server certain things do not work example i used javascript to put in a prompt bar for a newsletter page at the server it did not work but at local it did also it works at MOZZILLA but not internet explorer i also have cs4 was wondering if there is a way to test a page in dreamweaver and then transfer   THANK YOU X-FACTOR-MEDIA

    In future, please try to make the subject line of your posts shorter. In this case the following would have been sufficient: "JavaScript works locally, but not on remote server".
    Short, but meaningful subject lines make it easier for others to identify what your question is about, and often bring faster help.

    You can't.  Why do you want to do this?

    I think what this means is "I want to check to see how much hard disk space is available.  Also, I need to check the pixel dimensions of an image."
    Is that right?
    There is no way in the Flash Player (as far as I know) that you can determine the amount of free disk space.  However, in AIR you can use air.File.applicationStorageDirectory.spaceAvailable to determine the storage space available in the application storage directory.
    As far as determining the dimensions of an image, there are plenty of good resources out there on that.  Maybe this one will be helpful to you?

  • Is it possible to add button in the main tool panel of AI cs6 using javascript?

    Hello freinds,
    Is it possible to add  button in the main tool panel of AI cs6 using javascript?
    or is there any other way of adding the ui component to the tool panel..
    is it feasible??

    you can't add buttons to the tool panel using javascript, your only option is to create a plugin, you'll need C++ for that.
    yes, you'll need the SDK...if you need help with that, there's a dedicated forum for it

  • Make text bold using javascript

    To make it short and simple, here is what I need to do:
    In my javascript, I have a long string of concatinations. I need to be able to make some of the words in the string bold, and others normal. I have tried the str.bold() method and that doesn't seem to be working for me. It simply displays bold tags around the word in the text field when I preview (
    word). I have the text field as a 'rich text' as well as 'xhtml'.
    Any advice on how to bold words using javascript would be great. I have looked through the forums and havn't found anything helpful so far.
    I am using Livecycle 8.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you could give me an example, it would be great. I'm looking at the span object right now to see if it's something I could use.

  • Set annotation flags for link annotations using JavaScript

    The JavaScript for Acrobat API Reference doesn't list Link as an annotation type[1]even if it's a subtype in the PDF specification (8.4.5 Annotation Types).
    I know how to get the link objects using JavaScript, but they don't have a print property, because it belongs to its mother annotation object.
    Example:
    I have a scanned PDF, OCRed, with two links. Acrobat's content panels shows an annotation object with two links.
    >this.syncAnnotScan();
    >var annots = this.getAnnots();
    returns
    >null
    Any idea how to set the annotation flag to Print for a link annotation using JavaScript? (flag 3 aka Print is required for PDF/A)

    Hi,
    Thanks for replying. But this example sets falshvars through the UI, and as I have mentioned I want this done from javascript in the document - I dont have the value for some of the flashvars during embedding.
    (Using a EI call is my last resort, as I am not expected to make any modification to the SWF file - the SWF file, hitherto, was being hosted in a HTML where it was being passed flashvar params)

  • Using Javascript and ScriptUI to create a form that brings in a symbol from library

    Hello everyone,
    I've been trying to pull together the right info to use javascript to create a form to bring in particularsymbols from the symbol library based on the variables taken from the form. I've taken bits and pieces from various sample scripts and tried to make this work, but my problem appears when I try to use conditionals.
    This is a limited version of what I want to do, but it is enough to get the point across.
    1. I want to select a script that has various dropdown boxes. I would like the first dropdown to give me 3 options: 10, 13, 18
    2. I would also like another drop down box that gives me three more options: single needle, double needle, and knife edge.
    3. I would then like it to have an "ok" button and "Cancel" button.
    4. From here when I click the ok button, a symbol is brought in from the library depending on what parameters were given to the form.
    ex. If I selected 10 in the first drop down and double needle in the second, I would like "SYMBOL A" to be pulled from the library and centered on the artboard.
    ex. If I selected 13 in the first drop down and double needle in the second, I would like "SYMBOL B" to be pulled from the library and centered on the artboard.
    I've gotten the UI to pop up and it works as planned as well as bringing in a symbol, my problem comes when I try to incorporate conditionals and functions.
    Here is my script. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var Pallette = new Window ("dialog", "Create a Shell");
    Pallette.add ("statictext", undefined, "Fill Opening in Inches:");
    Pallette.orientation = "row";
    var myDropdown =  Pallette.add ("dropdownlist", undefined, ["10", "13", "18"]);
    myDropdown.selection = 1;
    var myButtonGroup =  Pallette.add ("group");
    myButtonGroup.orientation = "column";
    var btnCreate = myButtonGroup.add ("button", undefined, "OK");
    MyFillSelection = myDropdown.selection
    btnCreate.onClick = function () {
        if ( MyFillSelection = "13") {
                   symbolRef = myDoc.symbols["SYMBOL A"];
            symbolItemRef1 = myDoc.symbolItems.add(symbolRef);
           redraw();
    var btnCancel = myButtonGroup.add ("button", undefined, "Cancel");
      Pallette.show ();
    If anyone has any input, it would be much appreciated.
    thanks,

    MyFillSelection = myDropdown.selection is outside the function, so it will always read "13", nothing is making the value change.
    move that line into your function and add the text property to it...MyFillSelection = myDropdown.selection.text;
    then do your if comparisons, that will do it.

  • How do I use Javascript to populate a text field based on a selection from a drop down box?

    Greetings,
    I have virtually no experience with JavaScript and I am trying to figure out how to add some basic automation features to an Adobe form.  I have a drop down box called "Hospital_Name" that will contain approximately 7 possible selections.  When the user makes a selection, I would like to have the text field (called "Hospital_Address") below the drop down box populate with the corresponding address for the selection.  I have the "Hospital_Address" text field configured for multiple lines and would like the address to have a line break between the street address and the city/state/zip.
    For example, if the user selected "Hospital 1", the text field would display:
    123 Main St
    Anytown, CA 12345
    Any help or examples you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    You have the element names within the object within brackets.
    Make sure your brackets are properly placed and matched.
    // Place all pre-population data into a single data structure
    var Location = {
    "--Hospital--":{ line1: " ", line2: " " },
    "Bellevue Medical Center":{ line1: "2500 BMC Drive", line2: "Bellevue, NE 68123" },
    "CHI Bergan Mercy":{ line1: "7500 Mercy Road", line2: "Omaha, NE 68124" },
    "CHI Immanuel":{ line1: "6901 N. 72nd Street", line2: "Omaha, NE 68122" },
    "CHI Lakeside":{ line1: "16901 Lakeside Hills Court", line2: "Omaha, NE 68130" },
    "CHI Midlands":{ line1: "11111 S. 84th Street", line2: "Papillion, NE 68046" },
    "Creighton University Medical Center":{ line1: "601 N. 30th Street", line2: "Omaha, NE 68131" },
    "Nebraska Medical Center":{ line1: "4400 Emile Drive", line2: "Omaha, NE 68105" }
    // some debugging code to see location names;
    console.show();console.clear():
    for(I in Location) {
    console.println(I);
    // end debugging code;
    function SetFieldValues(Hospital_Name) {
        this.getField("AddLine1").value = Location[Hospital_Name].line1;
        this.getField("AddLine2").value = Location[Hospital_Name].line2;
    This is not a beginners task but requires a fair amount of knowledge about the structure of objects, defining strings, and structure of arrays.
    Are you sure you have all the field names correctly spelled and capitalized?
    Do you get any error in the JavaScript console?
    Just trying the line that defines the "Location", I get the following error:
    SyntaxError: invalid property id
    1:Console:Exec
    undefined
    All the form field in a PDF are processed by using JavaScript and any error in any script will stop JavaScript processing.
    It might help to have a link to the problem form.
    Make sure your brackets are properly placed and matched.
    // Place all pre-population data into a single data structure
    var Location = {
    "--Hospital--":{ line1: " ", line2: " " },
    "Bellevue Medical Center":{ line1: "2500 BMC Drive", line2: "Bellevue, NE 68123" },

  • Scroll() in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader X using Javascript

    Hi there,
    Does someone know how scrolling works in Adobe Acrobat/Reader using javascript?
    The scroll() functions needs two parameters: x and y.
    How are these axises defined? Is this based per page or does the scrolling reference change every time the page changes?
    Why we need to know this? We're making and application in Flash Builder that loads a PDF. External buttons need to call an embedded javascript within the PDF that scrolls up or down.
    Anyone who can provide us with some information concerning this topic: thank you!
    Regards
    Mario

    Well,
    It's hard to formulate: basically we need to understand how the scrolling is handled in Adobe Reader.
    Like: why does the scrolling index change every time you change to a new page. It gets resetted or something.
    Anyway: you cannot create a variable "scrollVerticalIndex" and "scrollHorizontalIndex" and increment it everytime you want to go down or up/left or right and say scroll(scrollHorizontalIndex,scrollVerticalIndex). Also, if you zoom in, the dimension of your page stay the same. We cannot find a way to calculate top or bottom of a document.
    In a perfect world you could say: (height of a page) x ((number of pages)-1) = total height of the document (and thus the total amount you can scroll up/down). But that is just not the case...
    We want to get an insight how the scrolling works :-)
    Does this make sence ;-) ?
