Use of CL_XML_DOCUMENT

Hi,
I want to get an xml file information using the class CL_XML_DOCUMENT, but I do not know how to use it, could someone help me?
Thank you very much!
Isabelle.

Hi,
I've not used it myself, but there is some info online.  Take a look at:
Re: XML with Open Dataset - Special Characters! (cl_xml_document)
and
<a href="http://www.sap-img.com/abap/xml-file-to-word-document-through-sap.htm">This link from a Google search on CL_XML_DOCUMENT</a>
There were several other Google hits that might be useful.

  • Cl_xml_document and type RAW on Unicode systems?

    Cheers guys,
    I'm using a cl_xml_document for exporting data from but000 to an XML file. Works fine, except for the PARTNER_GUID which seems to be interpreted as chars (it's raw bytes), eg. the GUID "0E1E1FFCF746D14CADEF2D3EBEAEB21B" becomes "Dh4f/PdG0Uyt7y0+vq6yGw==". This is a very serious prob for us because it also occurs with other fields/tables and makes the whole XML thing pretty much useless.
    Is there any known workaround for this?
    Thx in advance!

    i tried to simulate your case and the finding is that if the source field data type is RAW (type BU_PARTNER_GUID) it behaves the way as you had explained.
    however if you change the source field type(temporarily store them in a string field) to type string, it retains the format.
    check this sample program.
    data: l_xml  type ref to cl_xml_document  ,
         if_xml type ref to if_ixml_document ,
         node type ref to if_ixml_node  .

        append wa_guid to myguid .
    swa_guid = '0E1E1FFCF746D14CADEF2D3EBEAEB21B' .
        append swa_guid to smyguid .
    create object l_xml.

  • Options for XML parsing in WAS 6.20 ABAP and higher

    Hello Experts,
       What options are available to me for working with XML documents in SAP R/3 4.7? I am working on SAP WAS 6.20 ABAP and was wondering which tools/techniques I can use for parsing XML files?
       I am developing an ABAP program and primarily need to be able to parse XML documents. I need to be able to traverse up and down their data structures (trees/nodes/elements/etc.).
       In SAP R/3 4.6 I used to use the iXML library but it seems that there are many advanced and powerful features included in SAP WAS 6.20 ABAP and up.
       Could someone please give me a summary of and their opinions on some these "newer" options?
    Thanks,
    - Vik.

    Hi Vik,
       There are two ways you can parse/interpret XML documents in ABAP -
       1. iXML - Which you have already used in 46 release. It wasn't easy to use set of functions but still it was possible to parse documents using iXML library. In WAS 6.20 you can now use class CL_XML_DOCUMENT which is much more easier to use than iXML library. It is bilt on top of iXML using the same DOM model.
      2. XSLT - Useing XSLT_TOOLS or XSLT transaction you can create XSLT programs to transform XML to ABAP data objects and then work with ABAP data objects. In this case you have the option of using some other tool like XMLSPY to write the XSLT and then copy that to SAP.
    From your post it looks like you will probably have to traverse the tree in unpridictable way, probably DOM based parsing using CL_XML_DOCUMENT is more suitable for you.
    Cheers,
    Sanjeev

  • Generation of IDOC from xml content present in XSTRING format

    I have a requirement to create an IDOC with the XML content coming from an external system. I don't have the option to put that XML content in the file and then call EDI_DATA_INCOMING.
    I get the IDOC XML content in an XSTRING and using this content I need to create the IDOC.
    Any inputs or suggestions on how to achieve this?

    Hi Nitin
    Class CL_XML_DOCUMENT should be useful for your scenario.
    You can use the instance method PARSE_XSTRING to read in your XSTRING data into a DOM structure. Subsequently, you can iterate through the nodes to extract the data.
    Once you get all your data, you can populate the IDoc data tables then you can execute the usual IDoc FMs to create and/or process the IDoc.
    Here are some links on usage of above class.

  • Replacing New Line character in a hexadecimal string in ECC5.0

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an XML document using ABAP.
    I have created one DOM and later used the DOM to get the XML content into an internal table in form of Hexadecimal String. In that internal table(which contains XML in form of hexadecimal content), I want to search for the new line character and replace it by Space.
    I have used class CL_XML_DOCUMENT to create such document.
    Now, the keyword 'SEARCH' which searches the New Line character, works on the hexadecimal content of the internal table in 46C and I get an XML document. I get the position of the New Line in SY-FDPOS and can do whatever I want. But SEARCH on hexadecimal content is not permitted in ECC 5.0. I get a syntax error when I try to do so. Tried many options but could not succed.
    Would apreciate if anyone can help in finding and replacing characters like new line, tab etc in a hexadecimal string.
    Thanks.
    Can anyone

    Hi!
    When you say hexadecimal string, you mean variable - otherwise string (= character) operations would work?
    Then you have to go for hex handling -> do it yourself. Make something like
    data: lf type x value '0A',
          sp type x value '20',
          i type i.
    I = 0.
    while sy-subrc = 0.
      if hex_string+i(1) = lf.
        hex_string+i(1) = sp.
      endif.
      add 1 to i.
    endwhile.

  • How to update XML file using XSLT

    Hi there,
    I have a "small" issue with exporting data to an XML file using XSLT.
    A two steps process is needed to import data from a non-hierarchical XML file into ABAP, change the data, and then update the XML file with new values. The problem is not trivial, since the format of the XML file is a complex one: there are many interdependent elements on the same level, pointing to each other by using id and ref attributes. Based on these values the data can be read and written into an internal table. I use XSLT and XPath for that. So the inbound process is done and seems to work correctly. I have to mention that the file contains much more data than I need. I am working only with a small part of it.
    Now the changed data must be exported back into the XML file, meaning that the content of certain elements must be updated. How can this be done with XSLT? I can pass only the internal table to the transformation, so how do I access the XML file in order to update it? I have tried to use the <B>xsl:document()</B> function to access the content of the file store locally on my PC, but it fails each time by throwing and URI exception. I have tried the absolute path without any addition and the path with the file:/// addition. Same result. Please advise.
    Many thanks,
    Ferenc
    P.S. Please provide me with links only if they are relevant for this very matter. I will not give points for irrelevant postings...

    Now the changed data must be exported back into the XML file, meaning that the content of certain elements must be updated. How can this be done with XSLT?
    XSLT approach:  check these online tutorial
    http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/08/02/xslt/index.html
    http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/06/07/transforming/index.html
    ABAP approach:
    for example you have the xml (original) in a string called say xml_out .
    data: l_xml  type ref to cl_xml_document ,
            node type ref to if_ixml_node  .
    create object l_xml.
    call method l_xml->parse_string
      exporting
        stream = xml_out.
    node = l_xml->find_node(
        name   = 'IDENTITY'
       ROOT   = ROOT
    l_xml->set_attribute(
        name    = 'Name'
        value   = 'Charles'
        node    = node
    (the above example reads the element IDENTITY and sets attribute name/value to the same)
    like wise you can add new elements starting from IDENTITY using various methods available in class CL_XML_DOCUMENT
    so how do I access the XML file in order to update it?
    you have already read this XML into a ABAP variable right?
    Sorry couldnt understand your whole process, why do you need to read local XML file?

  • Inserting Namespace in XML document using 4.6C(no XLST)

    Hi all,
    I'm writing a program in which I need to convert data into XML, all this works fine using CL_XML_DOCUMENT.Create_With_Data. I was also able to insert the encoding as asked by the EAI tool who will interpret the XML file I have generated. Now they have returned to me, saying they also need the <b>following</b> tag:
    <FILE>
            <b><asx:abap xmlns:asx="http://www.sap.com/abapxml" version="1.0">
                    <asx:values></b>                        <CONTROL>
                            </CONTROL>
                            <DNB>
                            </DNB>
    <b>               </asx:values>
            </asx:abap></b></FILE>
    I have read about this on SDN and found several posts in which people using 4.7(CALL TRANSFORMATION) are asking to get rid of that tag, but not how to insert it without the use of XSLT.
    I have already tried the following:
      call method l_dom->set_attribute(
      name = 'xmlns:asx'
      value = 'http://www.sap.com/abapxml version=1.0' ).
    This however is not giving the expected result, if someone can help me with this, I would be very gratefull.
    In the meantime I continue trying.
    Thanks in advance

    hi, before you set the attribute, you need to create a Namespace element preliminary.
    Try the following code:
    ELEMENT = DOCUMENT->CREATE_SIMPLE_ELEMENT_NS(
    NAME = 'abap'
    PREFIX = 'asx'
    PARENT = DOCUMENT ).
    ATTRIBUTE = DOCUMENT->create_namespace_decl(
    NAME = 'XMLNS'
    PREFIX = 'asx'
    URI = 'http://www.sap.com/abapxml').
    ELEMENT->SET_ATTRIBUTE_NODE_NS(
    NEW_ATTR = ATTRIBUTE).
    Hope my reply will be useful.
    thanks

  • XSLT-ABAP using Call Transformation

    Hello Friends,
    I am new to this XSLT-ABAP transformation. I went through the blogs and forums and got a fair bit of idea on this. Now, i am trying to create a simple program/ xslt transformation to test the scenario. Once this is successfull i need to implement this in our project.
    I am not sure, where and what i am doing wrong. Kindly check the below given XSLT/ XML/ ABAP Program and correct me.
    My XML File looks as given below:
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    - <List>
    - <ITEM>
      <ITEMQUALF>ITEM1</ITEMQUALF>
      <MATERIAL>MAT1</MATERIAL>
      </ITEM>
    - <ITEM>
      <ITEMQUALF>ITEM2</ITEMQUALF>
      <MATERIAL>MAT2</MATERIAL>
      </ITEM>
    - <ITEM>
      <ITEMQUALF>ITEM3</ITEMQUALF>
      <MATERIAL>MAT3</MATERIAL>
      </ITEM>
      </List>
    My XSLT Transformation looks as given below:
    <xsl:transform xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:sap="http://www.sap.com/sapxsl" version="1.0">
      <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
      <xsl:template match="*">
        <List>
          <xsl:for-each select="ITEM">
            <xsl:element name="ITEM">
              <xsl:element name="ITEMQUALF">
                <xsl:value-of select="ITEMQUALF"/>
              </xsl:element>
              <xsl:element name="MATERIAL">
                <xsl:value-of select="MATERIAL"/>
              </xsl:element>
            </xsl:element>
          </xsl:for-each>
        </List>
      </xsl:template>
    </xsl:transform>
    My ABAP program looks as below:
    REPORT  ztest_ram.
    TYPES:
      BEGIN OF ty_test,
        itemqualf TYPE char10,
        material  TYPE char10,

        gs_var_text = gs_rif_ex->get_text( ).
        MESSAGE gs_var_text TYPE 'E'.
    ENDTRY.
    When i run this ABAP program to fetch the data from XML in to Internal table, i get the error message:
    Incorrect element List for XML-ABAP transformation
    I am really not sure how to proceed further. Could any one help me on this?
    Note: Please do not paste the same links, as i have gone through most of them.
    Thank you.

  • I need info about CL_XML_DOCUMENT

    Hi to all,
    I need info about the class CL_XML_DOCUMENT and his methods.
    I only have seen information of a few methods.
    Where can I find more information and examples of use about this class?

    Hi,
    This question is already answered before in this forum, check out the below link -
    Information about CL_XML_DOCUMENT
    Hope this helps.

  • Question to CL_XML_DOCUMENT: CREATE_WITH_DATA

    Hi colleagues,
    i use CL_XML_DOCUMENT: CREATE_WITH_DATA to create a XML file.
    This works fine, but there is one thing that I would like to change:
    The created XML has the following structure:
      <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <DATA>
    - <item>
      <KEY>ABC</KEY>
      <VALUE>00</VALUE>
      </item>
    Is it somehow possible to change the structure to the following?:
    <DATA>
      <Item KEY="ABC" VALUE="00" />
    I can read a file that had a strucuture like the structure I would like to
    have with CL_XML_DOCUMENT->IMPORT_FROM_FILE , so it should be a valid
    represantion of a XML.
    Thanks for any responses.
    Best Regards
    Joachim

    OK, I found the error:
    CRETE_WITH_DATA does only build elements. What I need is elements with attribute.
    I am now building the XML by looping over my internal tabel and building the elements and setting the attributes.

    I want to call HTTP from ABAP. I came to know that using classes & objects is the best way to fulfill it.
    Interface:
    xml_document type ref to cl_xml_document
    method post_xml_document.
    data: client type ref to if_http_client,
    xml_response type ref to cl_xml_document.
    data: xml_string type string,
    xml_xstring type xstring.
    data: zsubrc type sy-subrc.
    cl_http_client=>create_by_url( exporting url = 'http://www.example.com/post-url.xml' importing client = client exceptions others = 1 ).
    client->request->set_header_field( exporting name = '~request_method' value = 'POST' ).
    client->request->set_header_field( exporting name = '~server_protocol' value = 'HTTP/1.1' ).
    client->request->set_header_field( exporting name = 'Content-Type' value = 'text/xml' ).
    xml_document->render_2_string( exporting pretty_print = 'X' importing stream = xml_string ).
    client->request->set_cdata( exporting data = xml_string offset = 0 ).
    client->authenticate( exporting proxy_authentication = space username = 'username' password = 'password' ).
    client->send( exceptions http_communication_failure = 1 http_invalid_state = 2 ).
    client->receive( exceptions http_communication_failure = 1 http_invalid_state = 2 http_processing_failed = 3 ).
    xml_xstring = client->response->get_data( ).
    zsubrc = xml_response->parse_xstring( stream = xml_xstring ).
    endmethod.
    Above code can be used to do my work.
    Apart from the code in ABAP, what are the configurational setting that we need to do ?
    Thanks,
    Shivaa..

    Thats nonsense, create_by_url does not need an rfc connection. TA SICF is correct.

  • Cl_xml_document

    Hi.
    I have a program that reads and xml file. It uses cl_xml_document->import_from_file to read the file from a given path. This works fine, but my problem is that I need to run the program as a batch jobb and the import_from_file method uses gui_upload which can not be run as a batch (no_batch).
    I need to find another way to read the file. Can anyone please help me?
    /jon

    ok, but if I have to use the open/read/close dataset solution I also have to rewrite my code to find det data in the xml-nodes.
    The way I do it now is as follows:
    CREATE XML DOCUMENT
      create object lo_xml.
    GET XML FROM FILE
      call method lo_xml->import_from_file
        exporting
          filename = p_outfil
        receiving
          retcode  = lv_retcode.
    GET ROOT OF XML DOCUMENT --> ORDERS
      w_root1          = lo_xml->get_first_node( ).
      w_node_name     = lo_xml->get_node_name( node = w_root1 ).
      w_root2          = lo_xml->find_node( name  = 'orders'
                                            root  = w_root1 ).
      w_node_name     = lo_xml->get_node_name( node = w_root2 ).
    NAVIGATE DOWN TO DESIRED NODE AND LOOP AT THESE
      w_index1 = 1.
      clear w_continue1.
      while w_continue1 = ''.
        clear w_node_level_1.
        w_node_level_1  = lo_xml->get_node_child( node  = w_root2
                                                  index = w_index1 ).
    Any tips on how this can be done with the open dataset solution?

  • How do I use Edge Web Fonts with Muse?

    How do I use Edge Web Fonts with Muse - is it an update to load, a stand alone, how does it interface with Muse? I've updated to CC but have no info on this.

    Hello,
    Is there a reason why you want to use Edge Web Fonts with Adobe Muse?
    Assuming you wish to improve typography of your web pages, you should know that Muse is fully integrated with Typekit. This allows you to access and apply over 500 web fonts from within Muse. Here's how you do it:
    Select a text component within Muse, and click the Text drop-down.
    Select Add Web Fonts option, to pop-open the Add Web Fonts dialog.
    Browse and apply fonts per your design needs.
    Muse also allows you to create paragraph styles that you can save and apply to chunks of text, a la InDesign. Watch this video for more information: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/using-typekit-with-adobe-muse/
    Also take a look at these help files to see if they help you:

    http://helpx.adobe.com/muse/tutorials/typography-muse-part-2.html

    Hope this helps!
