Use of DISTINCT for CLOB through Java(Spring framework)

Hello everyBody,
How to use DISTINCT for a select query containing a column of type CLOB. I use to_char(column name) for that column name. It works fine on oracle command prompt , but not working thr my JAVA API(jdk 1.3) . It throws an exception saying InvalidFormat. I am using spring framework in Java. Is anyBody have solution to this? I am using oracle 9i. Please reply soon. Thankx in advance.

I do realise the fact that you are using Spring probably indicates that you lack heavy duty SQL skills. But you really should try to learn to tune your queries properly.
Cheers, APC

    Hello,
    I have my system running on my intranet, but I need to connect some support enginners through an Internet connection. Nowadays some users can connect to QAS and PRO systems using SAP GUI for windows and java with the saprouter string,  but the support enginners are using SAP GUI for HTML, do I need a special string or configuration so html users can connect to my system from the Internet?
    Thanks in advance.

    thanks, I can get the data from SAP R/3 to crystal report.
    but still dont know how to do the second question mentioned in previous message:
    once the table I want to get the data from is a cluster, and have found the mapping data dictionary of this data cluster, which displayed in crystal report connection as well, however, the data is not what I wanted.

  • Use of Hostname for connectivity through client in 10g

    Hi,
    Can anyone please clarify the use of host name and DB name? I mean currently we are using Oracle 8.0.5 where clients are connecting to Database using the hostname for e.g "Dataserver"... but now we are planning to migrate our DB to 10.2.0.1 where in testing phase when we created database with same name i.e "Dataserver" oracle doesnt allow this as giving error that DB name cannot b same of host name... now i want to know is there any possibility in 10g that we can use host name for connecting to DB through clients?
    this question requires urgent attention as we need to migrate our database as early as possible.
    thanks

  • Sincere Eclipse 3.0.2 build problems using a package for all Eclipse Java p

    Hi,
    I had the following problem:
    - jar-file put into a directory (for jdbc-access)
    - Environment variable set in Window/preferences/Java/BuildPath/ClassPathVariables:
    Name: classpath (could be any other name, does not correlate with WIN env. var.)
    Path: C:\java\eclipse\jars\mysql-connector-java-3.1.8-bin.jar
    - class-file was automatically built by Eclipse, error message:
    . java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
    In Windows I set the classpath environment variable to
    classpath=.;C:\java\eclipse\jars\mysql-connector-java-3.1.8-bin.jar
    In Windows/i.e., a DOS-Shell. It works
    As it didnt work in Eclipse, I deleted Eclipse and installed it again (from an elder version I had on another workstation)
    After starting Eclipse asked me to rebuild all -> Yes (it then needed some time to do so)
    Then it worked
    So, right here I thought I knew how to go on in other projects using this jar-file, but:
    The same problem appears in another project, but it works in WIN/DOS command line, but not in Eclipse. Project/Clean und rebuilding automatically or manually doesnt help.
    As a workaround for this project I did in
    Project/Properties/Java/BuildPath/Projects I marked a link to the project where it works (see above), and now it works, too.
    But I am not satisfied, I dont like trial and error solutions.
    I suppose that Project/Clean doesnt really clean properly.
    Has anybody made similar experience and knows the real solution?
    Thanks
    Michel

    JediKnight wrote:I didn't find it in AUR
    What search term did you use??  Here is monodevelop-git already in the AUR.
    It seems it may have been abandonded, but perhaps you could take over that package rather than starting a new one.
    Additionally, a patch is applied in that PKGBUILD.  Perhaps that could be needed to solve your problem.

  • HT4437 I have a Macbook Air, an iPad3, and Apple TV.  I want to be able to use the iPad3 for training through the Macbook Air which is connected to a projector.  Any ideas?

    I would like to be able to show my iPad3 screen through the Macbook Air that is connected to a projector.  I attended an Apple Training presentation and the presenter was using this set up-how do I get it set up correctly?  I also recently purchase Apple TV because the presenter said that she was using this device with the Air and the iPad.

    If you are trying to connect the iPad to the Macbook, then try this app: http://www.reflectionapp.com/ The iPad also supports connecting straight to the Apple TV, so you could try it that way too.
          Hope this helps!

  • Problem w. hash-value calculation for CLOB with DBMS_UTILITY.GET_HASH_VALUE

    Hello Oracle-Experts,
    I had to calculate hash-values for a corrorponding CLOB-field (see my post 'Buffer to small ORA-22835 error after migration from 9i to 10g' in forum 'database general').
    I calculate the hash-values with the DBMS_UTILITY.GET_HASH_VALUE, e.g:
         SQL> SELECT DBMS_UTILITY.GET_HASH_VALUE(LPAD('X',3998,'X'),1,POWER(2,30)) FROM dual;
         DBMS_UTILITY.GET_HASH_VALUE(LPAD('X',3998,'X'),1,POWER(2,30))
         1053896858
    Because the calculation failed with 10g I had taken a closer look at this function and realised the following results:
    VALUE                                             DBMS_UTILITY.GET_HASH_VALUE(VALUE,1,POWER(2,30))
    LPAD('X',3997,'X') 557754150
    LPAD('X',3998,'X')      1053896858
    LPAD('X',3999,'X')          888036750
    LPAD('X',4000,'X') 162062978
    LPAD('X',4001,'X')          162062978
    LPAD('X',4002,'X') 162062978
    LPAD('X',10000,'X') 162062978
    It seems to me that I can't use this function for clob-values with a length greater than 4000 characters because of collisions. Maybe someone with experience
    can give me a hint to handle this problem. Worst case i had to write my own CLOB_2_HASH function.
    TIA + Best regards
    Matthias

    Yeah, the 4000-byte limit would be a factor in working CLOBs. I if you only had 4000 bytes you would not need a CLOB in the first place.
    If you don't find something better then writing your own function might be the thing to do.

  • Can I connect to Oracle server7.1  through Java-JDBC using the latest thin drivers???

    Hey Gurus,
    Please help me .
    MY Current requirement is to connect to multiple oracle 7.1( and other variants) servers running on different operating systems, through Java/JDBC.
    My FIrst question is, can i connect to older versions of database using latest drivers?
    I could connect to the server running on SCO-oracle 7.1 using SQLNet8.1.7 under windows. But the same is not happening when the client is on Linux.But I need to connect from linux
    It says ORA-03113 - End of communication channel.
    What may be th problem.
    If any one could show some pointers where I can get more information about this problem would be helpfull
    THanks
    Lokesh

    I tried the classpath suggestion above (not the one modifying the .xml file) , but it didnt work for me , I am using WLI 10.3.1 and trying to connect DB on 8.1.7 V . I downloaded the classes12.jar and the ojdbc14.jar file from the oracle and placed in lib and the even included the classpath , but i again got the same exception .
    All this while i was selecting the option Oracle Driver Thin from the DataBase Driver when creating the connection pool from console . I tried with "BEA Oracle Driver (Type 4)" and it worked for me .. Although the option "BEA Oracle Driver (Type 4)" lists only the DBs from 9.0.1 to 11 G , but in my case using this driver i am able to connect to Oracle DB 8.1.7 . So all you guys if it classpath doesnt fix the issue try out by selecting Driver , "BEA Oracle Driver (Type 4)" .
    Manoj , this will fix the Connection pool part of the ques, but for the java part Try to load the Driver class "weblogic.jdbc.oracle.OracleDriver" before connecting to DB with Class.forName.

  • Implement callback for an asynchronous BPEL process through Java

    Hi ,
    I am trying to implement a callback functionality for an asynchronous BPEL process through java.
    I found the code in the samples folder of SOA suite installation folder .
    <SOA_HOME>\bpel\samples\tutorials\102.InvokingProcesses\rmi\com\otn\samples\async.
    There is an AsyncInstanceWatchdog object which registers a callback object(in this case an object of AsyncCallbackImpl class) for a specific CONVERSATION_ID.
    String convId = GUIDGenerator.generateGUID();
    nm.setProperty(NormalizedMessage.CONVERSATION_ID, convId);
    deliveryService.post(proc_name, "initiate", nm);
    // register the callback
    watchdog.registerAsyncCallback(convId, testAsyncHandler,
    locator.getDomainAuth());
    // start it
    watchdog.start();
    There is no problem till the last line. But once the BPEL process returns the control( does a callback), it throws the following error.

    For your reference the variable output is declared in the definition of AsyncCallbackImpl (which implements the IAsyncInstanceCallback interface).
    There are 2 methods defined in the AsyncCallbackImpl class.
    public void onResult(Map pResultMessage) {
    System.out.println("called back! ");
    Iterator iTest = pResultMessage.keySet().iterator();
    while (iTest.hasNext()) {
    String key = (String)iTest.next();
    System.out.println(XMLHelper.elementToString((Element)pResultMessage.get(key)));
    public String getVariableName() {
    return "output";
    The variable name is same given in the sample code. And the BPEL process returns variable named output. So the name should not be a problem.
    Is it because of the scope of the variable.. If so, how do I change it.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Solved it by some googling .... :)
    Here is the link:-
    [http://abhishek-soablog.blogspot.com/2008/09/orabpel-02118.html]
    or
    [http://beautifulwaste.blogspot.com/2008/04/calling-asynchronous-bpel-process.html]
    Both gives the same solution..
    In pre 10.1.3.3 release the default behaviour were to keep global variable information along with the instance information for completed BPEL processes.
    In 10.1.3.3 or later, this behaviour changed for performance reasons so that the default behaviour is now, not to keep any global variables for a BPEL process once the BPEL process has completed.
    You can configure this behaviour on a process level basis by using the parameter keepGlobalVariables in the bpel.xml file for the specific process:
    <BPELSuitcase>
    <BPELProcess src=".........." id="...........">
    <configurations>
    <property name="keepGlobalVariables">true</property>
    </configurations>
    </BPELProcess>
    </BPELSuitcase>
    Thanks
