Use of XMLTYPE is bpel

Hi All,
I have a requirement in which I am polling a table through DB Adapter which has xmltype column in it.After polling, I want to enrich the xml type column through some operations in BPEL.But when I look the xmltype column in bpel input variables,it becomes a string. Can anybody suggest how can I get the value of each tag of the xml which is stored in xmltype column.?
I tried usingora:parseEscapedXML() by passing a string which is actually a xml document.I assigned this to a message type variable which adheres to the xml document. But still the values of tags are not getting assigned and I am getting fault. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong.
This is the fault
<bpelFault><faultType>0</faultType><selectionFailure xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"><part name="summary"><summary>empty variable/expression result. The XPath variable or expression /ns3:PO/ns5:PONO is empty at line 112. An attempt to read or copy data referenced or computed by the XPath expression either had invalid data, according to the XML schema, or did not contain certain optional data. Ensure that the variable or expression result named in the error message is not empty. Enable XML schema validation of related variables to ensure the run-time data is valid. </summary></part></selectionFailure></bpelFault>

I had the same problem and found it to be namespace problem. The xmlstring coming in should have a namespace that matches the namespace of the variable or schema it's going into.
Check out this thread.
ora.parseEscapedXML() with empty variable
Since your IDE didn't create the schema for you, you need to create that yourself. There are probably utilities to help with that.
I'm not sure but I think it has to match the namespace of the schema its going into which may not be the same as the namespace of the message. Also when assigning you need to make sure that the level you are assigning to matches the top level that is coming in. Such as <orders> maps to -> <orders>

  • How to use Database Adapter in BPEL

I want to use Database Adapter in BPEL to transfer data from one table to other table and the data is still hold in the read table?
    I can find a example from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28994/adptr_db.htm#BDCIGDCB.
And the general design of my BPEL is as following:
    1. Add a "status" column to the read table. And alter the value of status column of all data in read table to "unreaded".
    2. Then create a empty BPEL (BPELAdapter) Project.
    3. Add a Database Adapter:
    (1) In step 1 of Adapter Configuration Wizard, configure the Service Name to datain.
    (2) In step 2, configure the database connection.
    (3) In step 3, choose "Poll for New or Changed Records in a Table".
    (4) Then click Import Tables button, and choose the read table.
    (5) In step 5, choose a column.
    (6) Don’t do anything in step 6 and 7.
    (7) In step 8, choose "Update a Field in the [Datain] Table (Logical Delete)".
    (8) In step 9, configure Logical Delete Field to STATUS, configure Read Value to readed and configure Unread Value to unreaded.
    (9) Don’t do anything in step 10 and 11.
    4. Add a receive activity to connect to above database adapter.
    5. Add another Database Adapter. Then configure this database adapter service WSDL:
    (1) In step 1 of Adapter Configuration Wizard, configure the Service Name to dataout.
    (2) In step 2, configure the database connection.
    (3) In step 3, choose Perform an Operation on a Table (and all items under it).
    (4) Then click Import Tables button, and choose the write table.
    (5) In step 5, choose a column.
    (6) Don’t do anything in step 6, 7 and 8.
    6. Add a invoke activity to connect to above database adapter.
    7. Add a assign activity between the receive activity and invoke activity. And configure the assign copy operation.
But after I deploy this BPEL project to the BPEL server and invoke this project, I get following error. Meanwhile, this BPEL don't take effect.
The following exception occured while processing this request:
    Can't find partnerLinkType 2.
    in
"file:/D:/soft/SOASuite/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/bpel/domains/default/tmp/.bpel_BPELAdapter_1.0_e82210b05e4d3e997eed581d0d220293.tmp/_BPELAdapter.wsdl" WSDL to find PartnerLinkType "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/datain/datain_plt"。
    How to resolve?
    Thanks,
    Melody

Now, I can insert data into the table through Database Adapter.
But still can't select data from the table through Database Adapter.
Above error still happen when invoke the read database table with Database Adapter project:
    Can't find partnerLinkType 2.
    in
"file:/D:/soft/SOASuite/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/bpel/domains/default/tmp/.bpel_BPELAdapter_1.0_e82210b05e4d3e997eed581d0d220293.tmp/_BPELAdapter.wsdl" WSDL to find PartnerLinkType "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/datain/datain_plt"。

Does this mean that, for a table to use an XMLType column, it has to have a single schema definition for every row in the table?
This won't fit for what we're doing.... that is, our table stores XML data for each row, but they are all different types of XML... they don't have the same structure, they don't use the same schema.

  • Using DB Adapter in BPEL to build a flatfile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have couple of oracle tables and want to take data from these tables and build a flatfile and put it on filesystem . Is there a way to build a flatfile using DataBase Adapter in BPEL. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

This means that you create a new process, add a partnerlink for the db adapters, add an invoke to use this partnerlink. Then (consecutively) add a partnerlink to configure the file adapter, and add an invoke to write to the file. Probably you need to define a transformation to map between de database structure and the file structure.

  • SaxParser error while using WSIF bindings in BPEL

    Hi All,
I am using WSIF bindings in BPEL to invoke a java class.
This java classs is using Jersey Client. For this I have imported relevant jersey jar files version 1.1.4.1.
My java class is getting invoked and even the jersey client jars are also recognized by my project.
But I am getiing the following SAX parser error:
*Operation failed!; nested exception is: javax.ws.rs.WebApplicationException: javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: Error creating SAXSource - with linked exception: [org.xml.sax.SAXNotSupportedException: SAX feature 'http://xml.org/sax/features/external-general-entities' not supported.]*
I found the following details when checked the logs.
JAXP feature XMLConstants.FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING cannot be set on a SAXParserFactory. External general entity processing is disbaled but other potential securty related features will not be enabled.
Please let me know what should be done in order to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance!!!

I am having the same problem in a non-BPEL application. I am using Oracle MDS in an application that is also using Jersey 1.1.4.1 and it blows up Jersey 1.1.4.1 in the same way.
Oracle MDS has a dependency on Oracle XDK, an XML parser (xmlparserv2.jar). xmlparserv2.jar registers Oracle's oracle.xml.jaxp.JXSAXParserFactory using the Java ServiceLoader API (by using the file META-INF/javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory.
Jersey doesn't like Oracle's JXSAXParserFactory, as you can see. From what I've found so far, it seems that the Oracle SAXParserFactory is clamped down for security and Jersey will not work with it. Here is a more complete stack trace that I have:
[org.xml.sax.SAXNotSupportedException: SAX feature 'http://xml.org/sax/features/external-general-entities' not supported.]
    at com.sun.jersey.core.provider.jaxb.AbstractJAXBProvider.getSAXSource(AbstractJAXBProvider.java:178)
    at com.sun.jersey.core.impl.provider.entity.XMLRootElementProvider.readFrom(XMLRootElementProvider.java:110)
    at com.sun.jersey.core.provider.jaxb.AbstractRootElementProvider.readFrom(AbstractRootElementProvider.java:105)
Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXNotSupportedException: SAX feature 'http://xml.org/sax/features/external-general-entities' not supported.
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.NonValidatingParser.setFeature(NonValidatingParser.java:1974)
    at oracle.xml.parser.v2.SAXParser.setFeature(SAXParser.java:270)
    at oracle.xml.jaxp.JXSAXParserFactory.newSAXParser(JXSAXParserFactory.java:92)
    at com.sun.jersey.core.provider.jaxb.AbstractJAXBProvider.getSAXSource(AbstractJAXBProvider.java:174)
In my case, Jersey seems to ignore the system property that I set with -Djavax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory=com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl
I am trying to figure out a way to satisfy the dependency that my app has on Oracle's XDK (xmlparserv2.jar) without having its SAXParserFactory take over Jersey.
I'll try to post here if I ever solve my problem because it sounds the same as yours.

  • Using Ref cursor in Bpel

    Hi,
I need to use ref cursors in bpel.
Basically calling a stored proc using DB Adapter , which returns a Ref cursor.
Not able to get it work, any suggestion help is greatly appreciated.
    Also followed: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28994/adptr_db.htm#CHDDDDJI
    But its quite abstract.
    Thanks !!

    Hi Raj,
I am able to use the REF cursor with BPEL.
I am able to pass the resultset from Database using a REF cursor to a BPEL variable .
When you create a BPEL variable , create it with message type as the output message type of the REF Cursor.

  • Question regarding Polling data from database using DB Adapters in BPEL

    Hi,
I have the following question regarding Polling data from database using DB Adapters in BPEL -
If I am selecting data from multiple tables/view to ultimately generate hierarchical xml document, is there a way that I specify polling all of these tables/views. Is polling limited only to one table/view?
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
your question seems to have been answered for the question of polling a set of tables with one as the root, and getting back a hierarchical xml representing multiple related tables.
However you can also poll for changes to both the root table and its related tables. Not sure if this was your question or the one already answered. If the former please check out the sample
    bpel/samples/tutorials/122.DBAdapter/advanced/polling/PollingForChildUpdates
    Thanks

  • How can i use Oracle Adpaters without BPEL

I want to ask how to use adapters without using BPEL.
Is there any document about that ?
All document i read using the adpater inside BPEL project.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
If you are refering to iWay Supplied adapters (like JDE, SAP, PeopleSoft etc. also known as Oracle Adapters) and using them from outside BPEL, then you can very well use them outside BPEL.
All the adapters can be deployed on to your Oracle Application Server as Resource Adapter for JCA access and also you can deploy Oracle Business Service Engine (OBSE/ iBSE) a servlet apps onto your Apps Server for Web Service generation.
Hope this is of any help.
    Best Regards,

  • Issue with using imported schemas in BPEL

    Hi
I am using one main schema (1) in which I am importing another schema (2. sugarHill.xsd) elements using references(sh) in BPEL assign/transfermations
to pass the values in target. But when I execute the process what I observe is that main schema element values (artist) & reference varialbe(sh:album) in main schema values are coming properly in input variable but in assign/transfermations the reference used in main schema (sh:album) varialbe values in source coming as empty/null. I tried couple of options but didn't work out. Please let me know how can I get and pass the reference variable value in assing/transermation bpel activity.
    1. Main Schema.

    Hi James,
actually we tried out the parameters you had suggested but not seeing improvement...
-- are there any other options for us or any other things/workaround which we could try out ..to me it looks like because of the slowness of the AQ adapter to de-queue the b2b message payload from the IP_IN_QUEUE that we are getting limited bpel processing speed...
-- our's is not a RAC enviornment as you had asked before ..are there are any AQ queue parameters to speed up the processing speed which could be setup in the INIT.ora file ..
--- also it seem not sure though that the aq_tm_processes parameter is depricated in 10g... and there is another parameter job_queue_processes parameter....i am not really sure how this parameter improves parallel processing or even works..
-- also is it true that number of subscribers/listeners for the queue also limits the processing speed... for the seeded internal B2B queue IP_IN_QUEUE is there any way to figure out how many subscribers are listening to this queue for the de queue operation.
-- one more question we had is it possible that from the b2b side when i process 1000 messages means 1000 edi files
that i could enqueue 500 messages to one custom queue q1 while the remaining 500 messages to the other custom queue q2.. could this be of any help to us ...
If yes could you please help us out with the queue creation pl/sql scripts if any..as to how we could create our custom queue on the B2B side... i am not sure what setups would be involved for doing this as well what setups would be required on the B2B trading partner setups to force the b2b messages to go to this custom queue..even if we are able to create custom queues ...
Thanks for your response though ..surely would await your reply to my queries here...
    Thanks
    sachin.
