User Application to build Material Hierarchy

Hi, I would like to help users to build a hierarchy without having to maintain the hierarchy externally on a spreadsheet and upload it.  So I would like an application that would baskically present a list of materials and allow the user to drag the material to a hierarchy node.
1. Do most people just upload their hierarchies to create them?
2. Is there anything out there that would help the users build a hierarchy like I mentioned?
3. If I was to build this with Web Dynpro ABAP does anyone know any of the hierarchy tables I would need to populate or any of the standard classes I could use?
Thanks,

hi
there is an application that does what you want, it is BW
go in transaction rsh1 select 0material and start building.
nevertheless maintaining a hierarchy on articles could be very long.
answers to your questions
1 -in general hierarchies that are loaded are the common ones that are delivered with standard extractors, but you can build it directly in BW, or use sets in ECC and generate the datasource for hierarchy
2-BW tx rsh1,2 and 3
3- i don"t remember the names for articles hierarchy (i guess you speak about industry solution) but have a look to table like T161 or T one hundred

  • Attaching u0093material photou0094 on the user tab of the material master transacti

    All,
    We are exploring a solution for attaching “material photo” on the user tab of the material master transactions - MM01/MM02/MM03 in ECC6.0.
    Please review the questions outlined below from the client -
    - Is it feasible to attach a “photo” of material to the user TAB of transactions MM01/MM02/MM03.
    - What’s the performance impact on the online transaction?
    - What’s the storage impact of having photo attached to the materials?
    - Where and how is the “gif or jpg” image of the material stored?  As a file on UNIX?
    - Can a small “photo area” be added user tab?
    - Does this require extensive programming or configuration to achieve this?
    - How much of time would something like this require to setup?
    If anyone has worked on similar requirements, request you to respond at the earliest.
    Regards
    Deepthi.

    Hi Deepthi,
    - Is it feasible to attach a “photo” of material to the user TAB of transactions MM01/MM02/MM03.
    Yes its feasible
    - What’s the performance impact on the online transaction?
    There would definitely be impact on performance. The impact would depend on the Size of the Image file to be uploaded. So you need to do a performance analysis for various Size of Image file & select the one which doesn’t have much impact on performance & also has a good quality resolution of image
    - What’s the storage impact of having photo attached to the materials?
    SAP as such wont have any impact except the additional space required to store the images
    - Where and how is the “gif or jpg” image of the material stored?  As a file on UNIX?
    You can store it using transaction SMW0
    - Can a small “photo area” be added user tab?
    Programmatically yes. It would be a custom container in which you would be uploading the photo
    - Does this require extensive programming or configuration to achieve this?
    No idea whether it can be achieved through some config. Settings.
    Programmatically it’s possible. Yes, it requires extensive programming. You need to maintain a table with Material No. & photo name. Accordingly you need to build the logic to upload the image. This works mostly on the Class CL_GUI_PICTURE & its methods.
    Sample programs
    SAP_PICTURE_DEMO
    SAP_PICTURE_DEMO_ICON
    RSDEMO_PICTURE_CONTROL
    - How much of time would something like this require to setup?
    Well if the image size is defined, then it should take max. 15 working days to develop the same
    Best regards,

  • Material Hierarchy data load

    Hi,
    I am loading data for material hierarchy master data but getting the following error message.
    0MATERIAL_LKLS_HIER is the hierarcy transfer structure i am using.
    I have not used any FM like RSAR_DATA_RECEIVED and i am not getting why the error is? Pl help me in resolving this.

    Diagnosis
         The function module RSAR_DATA_RECEIVED and the application object type
         which were determined are not valid for this IDoc.
    Procedure
         1.  Please check that the process code in the  inbound partner profile
             is correct.
         2.  If this is the case, you should check the ALE inbound methods ALE
             inbound methods for the process code and see whether the specified
             function module and application object type are correct.
    3.  If this is also the case, then the function module and the
        application object type are not permitted for the logical message
        type, message variant, message function and basis type that are
        contained in the IDoc control record. You should check whether the

    In the InfoPackage created to load your hierarchy, ensure that you select the correct hierarchy available in the "Hierarchy Selection" tab. All available huierachies for that particular IO that are available in R/3 will show up here. If its blank that would mean there are no hier. maintained in R/3.
    Select Flag for Activation. In the processing tab choose ALE Inbox & InfoObject.
    Hope this helps,

  • Single User Application

    Hello.
    I have a web application running on TomCat which I need to be a single user application. I don't want anyone to have to sign in...but if someone is using it, then I'd like to display a page to any other incoming user that the application is currently in use.
    This is a web GUI for our ANT build scripts.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks a lot
    bill

    First, you're going to have to define "in use." Do you mean that someone has connected to the application? Do you mean that someone has committed a transaction within the last n minutes? How exactly do you want to define that?
    If you're using a JSP application you'll find that there's no reliable way to track when a user leaves your web page (they can always just close the browser.) You'll be able to track session variables and, of course, be aware of when code is actually being processed, so you'll have to limit your definition of "in use" to something that can be tracked.

  • Need end user application system requirements

    I am writing a proposal for developing an end user DLL or standalone application, using LabVIEW 7 and IMAQ vision. I need to paste in an electronic copy of a description, preferably from NI itself, of what system the user will need, including RAM and disk space requirements, operating system, etc. The software would be developed and tested only on a Windows 2000 machine. This electronic document would be something like the release notes from the LabVIEW Application Builder. Got a URL or something to send by email?

    The Release Notes say:
    "When you deploy an application you build, the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine requires a minimum of 64 MB of RAM and a screen resolution of 800 × 600 pixels for applications that require a screen, but National Instruments recommends 256 MB of RAM and a screen resolution of 1,024 × 768 pixels."
    And on Windows, "The LabVIEW Run-Time Engine requires at least 25 MB of disk space, but National Instruments recommends 155 MB of disk space if you install the default drivers from the National Instruments Device Drivers CD."
    If we need to add more details on this issue, can you please email your feedback to [email protected] so we can address it in a future version of LabVIEW?

  • Building Material group extractor

    Hello,
            My client requires an extractor to generate the material group hierarchy in BW. Since no hierarchy in R3 is maintained, we will be required to build the hierarchy through coding. This we know how to do it. My problem is how to load it to BW. Do i need to create a generic extractor or can we do it through the same extractor as Material group and make use of EXIT_SAPLRSAP_004 to load it or should we load it through file. Also what should be the minimun data that we should provide to built the hierarchy.
    Thank you in advance for your answers.

    Hi,
    Since hierarchy is not maintained in R3,
    1. You directly create hierarchy manually for material group in BW.
    2. You prepare file and load the hierarchy through file.
    for structure of the file you can refer the following link

    Thanks for asking. It happens when I click the "Interface builder.app" name in finder and when I double-click an .xib file name in finder.
    As I mentioned, I have repaired permissions on the drive to no avail. I have also read older posts on the web referring to various preference plist files but those don't exist with this build of xcode.
    I have also had older builds of xcode on this mbp and worked thru a couple of tutorials. Interface Builder from those older builds worked. I'm not sure were to get them, now, and I doubt they would have the iphone sdk included.

    Hi...
    Thank you all for reply.
    I have solved the problem. But this was not related to RSKC.
    This was due to a material code DVD77ELR-D2 which was not created correctly. I have removed the hierarchy assigned to this material and marked it for deletion.
    Now the hierarchy has been loaded perferctly.

  • Building an hierarchy in Universe

    Hi,
    Please help us how to build a Hierarchy based on particular values. i.e we need to create an hierarchy in universe level(for ex: Derived Table) and database is SQL Server.
    hierarchy : Year->Quarter->month-> date
    For date object the query is current date value. (this we can get)
    Month -> It should be last day on of the day value in that particular month(i.e if jan is the month then we should get 31st value as month value)
    Quarter -> It should be last day value of the quarter (i.e if quarter =2 then we should get quarter 2 value as june 30th value)
    Year-> last day of the year as year value.
    Thanks In Advance

    Hi Suresh,
    So you want to create a Hierarchy where you would be combining multiple dimensions such as Year > Quarter > Month > Date.
    Create a new hierarchy from hierarchy editor, Tools > Hierarchies.
    When hierarchy editor opens you will see all available objec in your universe on the left side of the pane.
    You have to add required objects on the right side.
    When you are creating new hierarchy you are creating new new folders in the custom hierarchy pane and then adding required dimensions.
    Here are the steps...
    1. From the Hierarchies editor, click the New button.
    2. Type a name for the hierarchy.
    3. Press RETURN to apply the name.
    4. Select the new hierarchy.
    The hierarchy is highlighted.
    5. Expand a default hierarchy node in the left pane.
    This is the hierarchy that contains dimensions that you want to add to the
    new custom hierarchy.
    6. Click a dimensions you want to add
    Now come to your other issue for selecting last day of the month etc. For this you will have to write down formulas to achieve this functionality.

  • An OS-Intergrated place to store per-user application configuration files.

    A Chairde,
    I'm developing an application that could be deployed on multiple platforms. I'm looking for a location to store per-user configuration files in a OS-integrated way.
    I use a utility class to determine the OS of the users machine. I know from experience that Windows NT5+ likes to store per-user settings/configurations in the %APPDATA% path (which is usually C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Roaming\<vendor>\<software> etc.) I'm using a call to the environment labels to determine it's location.
    I'm a linux user myself, so I'm aware that most UNIX based Operating Systems like to store personal configurations in hidden folders in the user's home directory (ex /home/<username>/.<application> etc.), Obviously, I'm using a call to the system property user.home to determine that location.
    My Question is in relation to Mac OS and Mac OS X, where would it be a safe location to store per-user configurations? I know OS X is BSD/UNIX based so is it safe to assume to store them as a hidden subfolder of the user.home directory? What about Mac OS classic? Where are per-user settings stored, or is it like Windows 9x and NT4 and lacks proper multi-user setups (although NT4 is somewhat more prepared then 9x) ?
    It would be much appreciated if anybody has any ideas.
    Is Mise,
    Seán Mac Aodha
    PS. I'm not using Javas Property files etc. I've rolled my own exchangeable format for storing key,value pairs.

    I've used databases in the past to store local files but clients have sometimes run into trouble when the database daemon goes down or doesnt start-up normally because of a "improper" shutdown etc.
    In my own implementation of "Settings Files" i have serialized hashtables marked with appropriate metadata stored to the users "application data", a backup or original copy of those settings in the common directory shared by my application framework and then in a networked enviroment, the Settings can be hosted on a database server, so the user can travel between client machines and keep their settings (and files) with them.
    I have, with a bit of googling, come across the most obvious page i should have looked at in regards to Apple Mac OS X
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPFileSystem/Articles/WhereToPutFiles.html
    According to Apple's guidlines, the most suitable place to store User configuration files is in the ~/Library/Application Support/<Application Name> directory.
    and for System-wide configuration files, /Library/Application Support/<Application Name> rather then storing them with the application in the /Applications directory.

  • Multi user application control data access

    Dear all,
    i am using Oracle Developer Suite 10g and database 10g, windows xp plate form.
    i want to develop multi user application regarding education.
    i have two questions.
    1. i take a start from creating an HR database which have 30 tables.
    this database has 10 users.
    the users will log on from their own schema.
    how they will access the HR schema?
    should i create a public synonym for each table in the HR Schema?
    or should i create a view for each table in each user schema?
    or should i grant select,insert,update etc to each user on HR schema?
    2. i want to control the data access for each user.
    i.e. every student could access his own academic record. each teacher access his own related record, the manager the owner and so on.
    how to accompolish this task? oracle roles are not sufficient for this purpose.
    Your help is highly appriciated.

    How about you start with the basic stuff, like the 2 days developers guide:
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/to_toc?pathname=appdev.112/e10766/toc.htm
    and make it to the advanced developers guide:

  • Stand-alone JNDI lookup of an EJB in an Enterprise Application (EAR) build

    Hi All,
    I am having some difficulty doing JNDI look up an EJB 3.0 Bean that is part of an Enterprise Application (EAR) build. Below are all the related codes:
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Local;
    @Local
    public interface Hello1Local {
        public String getHello1();
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @Stateless
    public class Hello1Bean implements Hello1Local {
        public String getHello1() {
            return "I am Hello1 Bean!";
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    @Remote
    public interface Hello2Remote {
        public String getHello2();
    package ejb;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;

        @EJB private Hello1Local hello1bean;
        public String getHello2() {
            return hello1bean.getHello1();
    There is no problem looking up Hello2 Bean using an Application Client such as the following:
    public class LocalHelloApplicationClient {

        private static Hello2Remote hello2Bean;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            System.out.println("hello2Bean.getHello2(): " + hello2Bean.getHello2());
    }There is also no problem doing JNDI lookup (from a Stand-Alone Client the same bean if both Hello1 and Hello2 were created by themselves. ie not part of an Enterprise Application (EAR) build. However, I am wondering whether it is possible to do JNDI lookup of the same bean (Hello2) that is part of an Enterprise Application (EAR) built. Below are the type of JNDI lookup entries that I have tried without success:

    Hello
    I've somme problems to get access to ejb interface from remote stand-alone client.
    Here is my EJB code :
    package stateless;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @Stateless(name = "TestSB", mappedName = "ejb/stateless/TestSB")
    public class TestEJBBean implements TestEJBRemote {
        public String getMessage() {
           return "Hello EJB World";
    }And the remote interface :
    package stateless;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    @Remote
    public interface TestEJBRemote {
        String getMessage();
    } In client side, i just edit main.java like this :
    package testclient;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.util.Properties;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import stateless.TestEJBRemote;
    public class Main {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
            Properties props = new Properties();
            props.load(new FileInputStream("jndi.properties"));
            InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props);
            TestEJBRemote testEJB = (TestEJBRemote) ctx.lookup("ejb/stateless/TestSB");
            System.out.println(testEJB.getMessage());
    }here is my jndi.properties file (my glassfish server IP is 192.168.0.10) :
    java.naming.factory.initial = com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory
    java.naming.factory.url.pkgs = com.sun.enterprise.naming
    java.naming.factory.state = com.sun.corba.ee.impl.presentation.rmi.JNDIStateFactoryImpl
    org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost = 192.168.0.10
    org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort = 3918when i run client on the same machine than the glassfish app server, it works fine.
    But i run it on the different machine than the glassfish app server (on the same LAN without firewall), it fails with this error message :
